I'm still trying to decide between an iPhone and a Blackberry...

I'm starting to think that these portable laptops are much better than my laptop that I carry around... it's way easier to take out. Plus, it can be used while walking as well. I hope Apple makes one of these soon, since I'm really excited for an Apple tablet!

Current Situation With Trap17 Hosting Help, can not get to anything
Dooga replied to NJ_STORM's topic in Web Hosting Support
Just for reference, I requested my password, paying 10 credits, and I indeed received a new password in my email (the same email that I used for Xisto.com's forums). It seems like mySQL users were reset, and addon domains were reset as well. But it was as simple as adding the users back to mySQL and adding the addon domains again. No data or database values were lost! -
Hello, I moved this topic to the Support and Feedback section.

Aim for a "pure CSS" design. That means that all you'll see in the code is just a series of <div> tags. Using "float" in the CSS coding will basically emulate, if not best tables. It's really easy and fun once you get used to it! The site looks pretty good though. Take a look at layout gala (and use it as a skeleton if you need to.): http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Now that Mozilla has set this record, who do you think will attempt to break it? I'm pretty sure Microsoft won't dare do something like this... it wouldn't be fair, and it would probably cause ethical issues where they would try to redirect users or something.Honestly, I'm not that much of a fan of Firefox. I'm only using it for some addons without which I cannot live, for example, Adblock on certain sites (I disable it for sites I support )Opera and Safari have both been very fast in terms of starting time and browsing though. I guess Firefox has a few steps to make. I can't wait for 3.1 though...

Personally I don't have any experience with religion. However, instead of trying to convert, you can try to help him by teaching some neutral but benevolent teachings of Christianity. It doesn't have to seem like you're trying to convert him, but at least you are enlightening him with a new perspective. It is up to him to decide if he is going to walk that path.

What's The Difference Between 64 And 32 Bit? Buying a new computer.
Dooga replied to Dooga's topic in Hardware Workshop
Thanks for the replies! Does anyone know anything about the new Intel chips? Personally, I'm leaning towards Intel not because I know anything about it, but it's because if one day I'm bored enough to run a Hackintosh (install a Mac with a patch on an intel based PC) then I can do it -
Hey everyone!I'm going to be buying a new laptop in a few months, and I am very confused about one thing: AMD manufactures a LOT of 64 bit processors, while Intel almost never does.I'm clueless when it comes to processors, and I'm concerned because I haven't really been paying attention to processor specs as much as HD and RAM, even though those are the cheapest and easiest to switch. Does anyone have any good tips about processors? I'm mainly wondering what the difference between 64 bit and 32 bit is, but other than that I also want to know if someone has any recommendations for processors. Intel or AMD? If Intel, should I be waiting for a new Intel chip? And plus, what are the prices of processors usually, and the difference between for instance, 1.8 and 2.0 ghz dual core?

I think that the contacts we sign now cost more per month? Is that the method they used to decrease the price of the iPhone?

Today on June 12, 2008, Industry Canada Minister Jim Prentice introduces the Canadian version of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. This means that Canada will also seek to prosecute and sue average citizens through the monitoring of bit torrent and p2p sharing clients and tracking IP addresses with fake trackers. In 1998, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act has be passed in the United States, causing over tens of thousands of downloaders their lifetime's savings, due to the high lawyer fees and outrageous fines. In an attempt to protect copyright holders, this law will attempt to prosecute and fine and maybe even jail downloaders through a criminalized system, where the government now has legitimate methods of threatening and prosecuting downloaders. The US government has not paid any artists, and are keeping the money from the fines for themselves. Canadians hope that the law will be more reasonable. However, calling your MP may prevent this bill from being passed. Source: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

I Want To Make Money From A Website Please I need help
Dooga replied to amirborna's topic in Business Forum
If you can type really fast, you might want to try creating a blog and blog for some money (through adsense ads or text-link-ads). Unique articles get a lot of hits in Google, and if your articles are written well, I think that's a great opportunity for you to attract some users to your site and have some fun. -
This morning, Apple released a new version of their popular "iPhone" product, a revolutionary phone with touch controls and a vast amount of media possibilities. With the new iPhone 3G, Apple released these new features: - Faster Internet: They claim that the internet on the mobile web will be increased to almost broadband speed - New development kit: Evidently the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) was made for developers. - Games! What's a phone without games? Imagine the possibilities! - Less expensive: only 199$ with contract, as opposed to 399$ in the past. - GPS features! Unfortunately, there are some disadvantages: - The iPhone is now thicker... just a bit. - The iPod touch users need to pay 9.95$ to upgrade their software. Tutorial : Hide Folder Without Any Softwares Descriptive enough
Dooga replied to ivantoar's topic in General Discussion
Alas, for those using Windows Vista, you need to remember that the blue hover over the icons won't disappear most likely. -
Hi guys,I have a problem with one of my designs at the moment. Here's the problem:I have a flash game in the middle of a page. However, the site navigation has dropdown menus that go on top of the flash. Now, the navigation works if I use "wmode = transparent" or "wmode = opaque" in the flash code. Yet, there is another problem: In Internet Explorer (I'm running version 7) the arrow keys "up" and "down" in most flash games will not work properly. Instead, they will make the page scroll up and down, even if the flash file has focus. This situation does not exist if I don't define a "wmode" (meaning that wmode = Window). However, I have some things that need div tags to be displayed OVER a flash presentation, and it just annoys me that Internet Explorer (only) will not allow this without messing it up.Sorry I don't have an example right now, because everything is on localhost. However, if someone doesn't understand what I mean I can provide more info or create a dummy example. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to read this or help me.

What If Planes Were Made Of Glass How would it be ?
Dooga replied to FunkySurd's topic in Science and Technology
That would probably be intensively scary, but I would definitely ride it. It would be like a paid ride in an amusement park! -
Wasi, you seem like a very smart person. The way you type is already more intelligent than 80% of the Internet.I would highly recommend getting your GED. It's never too late to do it, and you'll feel more confident as you go. Sooner or later, you'll find that you basically didn't miss anything at all.

I have just a few general comments, I don't know any specific laptop brand though.Hey, if you aren't afraid to switch to a Mac, I would highly recommend a MacBook Pro. Personally, I'm not a fan of the overpriced hardware, but they are extremely good quality, and the LCD screen is beautiful and way easier on the eyes compared to another laptop that you might find. Their designs are one of the best in the industry. And plus, you can still run Windows. Buy it for the hardware (however warning: their video cards suck, their RAM is too expensive and not at all priced correctly. I don't mind high-priced items, but I do not like over-priced items for what they are worth.)With a 2500$ budget, you can also think about Sony VAIO computers. Sony has also been known for overpricing items, but their items are designed with quality, although I haven't actually used them before. You can buy it for the company... Come on it's Sony!If you want, you should get a Tablet PC. It depends on what you're using the laptop for, but a Tablet PC can allow you to take notes very easily. It's a very good idea.

Windows, Linux Or Mac Osx? Which OS do u prefer.
Dooga replied to jlrr94's topic in Operating Systems
Personally, I would prefer to use Windows Vista because I've already gotten so used to Windows Operating Systems and how to become a non-programmer Power User. There are just things that I can't escape that are Windows Only. However, for my parents or any one of my friends, I would ALWAYS recommend Mac OS X Leopard. Apple is VERY good at user interface and layout, and all the real-estate is used so perfectly. All my Mac user friends love using the Mac, even if their reason is that it looks prettier. However, the subliminal message inside Mac OS X is that you will feel better when you no longer have to click the small invisible buttons of Windows, and have access to so many easier to use software. A google search for Windows software yields millions of results, but most of the top results are spammed and are very poor software. The better software obviously exist, but since Windows software programmers do not pay attention to user interface and layout, it is very disappointing.Mac OS X may focus on form over functionality, but that's what people say to attack Mac users. In reality, Mac OS X is very intuitive, and perfect for people who just want a computer like a piece of furniture with internet features and chatting. Windows needs teaching, but Mac OS X doesn't.For Power Users who are not enthusiastic Web Designers or Graphics Designers, AVOID Mac OS X. Mac OS X is a community of ARROGANT people who don't admit that they like the operating system because of how pretty it looks or that they design websites very frequently. You're better off with Windows XP or Windows Vista if you really want to have that "I really know what I can do with this" feeling. -
A lot of laptops at around 700$-800$ CAD/USD (oh I love the fact that I can say both at the same time) are pretty good.Acer Aspire, and HP Pavillion are some of the pretty good ones. They will have most likely the following specs:- 2.0 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo- 2GB RAM DDR2- 160GB HD Space- 256mb Video CardThat's what I am aiming for, and to be honest, 800$ is the market price for computers with these specs, DO NOT buy for more.

Great update! I'm sure that this will increase the speeds of our website propagating as well.

Apple has recently introduced the MacBook Air in MacWorld 2008. It claims to be the thinnest laptop in the world. However, I have some comments: First of all, it lacks an Optical drive. While some people say that it might be a good idea to start phasing out unnecessary hardware, I think it is too early to remove the optical drive, especially since so many people still burn DVDs. You can connect a USB adapter to solve this problem. Second, it has no Ethernet cable. Again, it might be obsolete, and most people use Wireless networking, some places still need the Ethernet cable. This can be solved with a USB adapter. Because of the product's curves, there aren't flat spots on the side for ports, as there are on existing Mac laptops. On the left side, near the back, is a slightly recessed space on the MacBook Air's underside with a MagSafe power connector. PC World says that "at the risk of sounding obvious, the MacBook Air is incredibly light and tiny. Its looks owe a lot to the MacBook Pro and previous silver Mac laptop models, but its curved edges and tapered shape are unlike anything we've seen on a Mac laptop in a long time, if ever." It seems like the MacBook Air has focused a lot on design. Also, the MacBook air has pretty low specs. It only has 1.6ghz Intel Duo Core, when most laptops are already above 2.0ghz. It has 2GB of RAM, which isn't THAT bad. It also has only 80GB of harddrive space. You can extend it with an optional 64gb SSD drive, but that costs 1000$. The worst thing is that the MacBook Air costs 1799$ for the cheapest version. This is in my opinion, a large ripoff. Overall, for the first day, MacBook Air has not been doing very well. Apple's stock dropped quite a few points today. References: http://www.pcworld.com/article/141398/article.html Notice from jlhaslip: Merged per Report
