Every time you open Photoshop or Microsoft Word, it scans for all the fonts on your computer. That can take a while, especially if you have 500 of them, like me. There are often many fonts installed on a persons computer, but the average computer user doesnt need so many fonts. For example, Microsoft Office 2003 installs a large collection of fonts, but in reality these fonts are just ugly and not useful at all. The last time I used one of those fonts was 3 years ago, and that was on someone elses computer. And if youre a web designer, you will have a very hard time scrolling through a huge list of fonts just to find a huge collection of Microsoft failure fonts in the way, as well as some ugly fonts that you installed when you werent sober. This is maybe the time to delete some of it. With the intent of cleaning up my font collection, I have deleted over 400 useless fonts that I never want to see, including fonts like Impact. Amazingly, after I removed all the useless fonts and kept some like Frutiger, Myriad Pro, Calibri, and Segoe UI, my word process (Word 2007) loaded almost 4 times faster! Photoshop loaded like a breeze, and it used to load as slow as the development of Windows Vista. Warnings: If you decide to remove some fonts, remember to keep the following fonts: I recommend backing up your whole fonts folder before you start deleting. You might also want to keep newer Windows fonts like Segoe UI. Now, I dont often use Macs, but Im pretty sure that removing some fonts you never use is going to speed up your computer quite a bit. Not to mention it gets rid of seizures from going to sites that use these failed fonts.

I think this is pretty clever. I saw a lot of professional web designers who actually use the day and night difference, because it makes the site look like a place in real life! It also has sounds that correspond with the time of day. Perhaps that could be your next tutorial when you're bored and want to cook up something else that's as brilliant as this one

I'm pretty sure whatever features your AJAX program needs (such as php, mysql databases, javascript) will work, as long as nothing is against the terms. That's what's the best about Xisto :)I'm not a programmer, so I don't know why people would hate AJAX (perhaps it's difficult, I'm not sure). However, as a web user I love AJAX, it makes my browsing faster. The only downside I can find people having is the inability to use the Back button to go back to what they saw before. But this can easily be solved with a powerful navigation menu that's efficient and effective.

Bad news: The government proxy in British Colombia currently bans ImageFilezThe government proxy is the proxy used by public schools and some Universities as a filter to block and censor material. This doesn't mean the government of British Colombia, Canada blocks the site, because that would be ridiculous ... Canada is probably the last place you would call authoritarian. But yes, the proxy problem is probably caused by someone uploading adult images. I wonder if it's still blocked... I didn't check for a while.

For some reason, my adsense account doesn't work... I didn't get banned, nor did I delete it. Anyone knows if it expires after a certain time you don't log in or something? -
What Way Does Your Toilet Flush? Counter-Clockwise or Clockwise?
Dooga replied to timous's topic in Science and Technology
Since this is in the My Theories forum, I'm going to think of a toilet that's "a theory" .Actually, it would be pretty useful if your toilets worked liked the airplane vacuum toilets. It would most definitely save a lot of water. It may be a bit noisy, but I think it's harder for it to become plugged up. And also, there won't be any splashing upwards of water which is disgusting and has germs. All in all, the airplane toilets really rock... but I think i need noise canceling headphones to use them, because they are so loud. On the airplane, I would just close the door immediately before the toilet flushes, since it's just too loud.A disadvantage to this would be that there might be some "leftovers" (yuck) since there aren't any water to clean it up. And also, it's going to be really "dry". But at least it won't splash up each time something "falls". -
I'm not very sure that he will get kicked out of the senate that easily. Politicians do all sorts of jokes and nonsense and stay where they were. I'm not pointing fingers, but I'm sure you can see a lot of them prominent in wherever you live.I'm not going to comment on the benefits of Capitalism, because I know there are a lot of benefits to it. However, the negative aspects of Capitalism is the lack of ethics. While I'm definitely not very supportive of an overly enforced Socialist system, I do believe that some socialist systems work pretty well. Canada is an example of a Democratic Socialist country, where private corporations are allowed, but there are only a few that are well known in the market. As a result, these corporations have specific business rules set out by the government due to their size. As a result, I think Canadians are quite ethical, and crime is very rare in Canada, even though police and military forces barely exist. I believe that to really have a perfect ideology that can prevent this nonsense is simply having one with ethical people, whether it's full out capitalism or not. Which one can really achieve it? No one really knows...

Oh I knew I've seen this somewhere. Isn't that cute?

Personally I think the votes were quite unjust. China has over 1.3 billion people, and the internet users in China added up together beats North America's population. With that amount of people it is impossible to lose. Of course, the great wall of China is a lovely place, I think it would have been voted in anyways.

Could Someone Help Me Choose A Phone? Between a Nokia 6275i and Moto Razr V3C
Dooga replied to Dooga's topic in Mobile Phones
Well one of the reasons I don't like Razrs are because there are like 5 different kinds of it, and half the cellphone population have it. It certainly does have the "ooh ahh" aspect to like the 10% of the population who doesn't know what it is. But then again there is the "omg ew" kind of feeling for the Nokia for those who don't have a good image about bar phones or don't know the features... I mean Bar phones are seemingly the "old" type of phones. -

Could Someone Help Me Choose A Phone? Between a Nokia 6275i and Moto Razr V3C
Dooga replied to Dooga's topic in Mobile Phones
Well most people here use flip phones, and I've seen at least 4 people with Razrs. Only one of my friends is using the Nokia, and it's unique to Canada since it's not released to the people in the US.By the way thanks for the comments people are making! I still would like more comments though. -
Hello everyone, I'm stuck between two last choices for a phone, and that would be the Nokia 6275i and the Motorola Razr V3C. Here are the pictures for each of the phones: Nokia: Motorola: First I would like to emphasize that this is the Razr V3C that I'm talking about here. And another note: The Nokia screen is actually LARGER than the Razr screen. Now I'm not considering price right now (Nokia is actually more expensive than the Razr), but I'm more concerned about which is better. At the beginning I leaned towards the Razr V3C because it looks obviously more stylish and attractive than the candybar phone which looks cheap and crappy. However, I've read some really really negative reviews about the RAZR V3c cellphone, and it really changed my mind. But I'm currently stuck between these two choices, and the candybar design is really really pissing me off. Here are some features of the Nokia: Here are some features of the Razr: What's really different about the Nokia is that it has an MP3 player and a better camera, and the Razr has no mp3 player. But come to think of it I don't really need an mp3 player on the phone, nor do I really care about the camera's quality. The Nokia has a better colorscreen. Actually the Nokia has much better features and specifications than the Moto Razr. But the big big annoyance is that it is an ugly cheap looking candybar which I absolutely hate. If the Nokia was a flip-phone then it would be a no-discussion obvious choice. But because the Razr is much more stylish I'm making second considerations. Yet what frustrates me is that the Razr V3c has so many poor reviews that makes it really hard to want. Apparently it has lots of dropped calls, and the volume button is easy to hit. (are the buttons lockable?) And IS IT more stylish? Some people say that the candybar looks much better, because it's actually just 2 mm thicker than the razr, and it has a larger screen. But I'm stuck between design and reviews. I honestly think that the Razr V3c's features are enough for me... or are they? Should I choose between an ugly bar with many features and extremely good reviews, or a pretty and "popular" cellphone that has really bad reviews and average features? Is the bar ugly? Come to think of it, is the Razr really that great, or is it just "as old as the internez" (after all it's an old design popular in 2006) Is the razr getting bad ratings and reviews because it's based with Verizon? Is the Nokia 6275i getting good reviews only because few people use them in the US, and only Canadians reviewed it? Or do you have your own opinion? I need some help with this choice... but remember I think that candy bars aren't very attractive. But features and good reviews?

I find this discussion very interesting. Is it possible to not believe in God, but believe in Creationism? Well I think there must be SOMEONE or something to create another thing... because I don't think something popping out of nowhere is believable, at least, for me. Personally I still believe in more of a scientific explanation, yet does creationism mean that something spiritual happened, or could it even be explained in the scientific point of view?I guess I'm not very knowledgeable about creationism, as I was raised believing in evolution, which was what all preliminary textbooks say.

This sounds like a clever way to make a transparent layer, but I think modifying the Opacity of a *shape* is faster and easier than cutting a whole layer. This can be done by filling in a selection or just drawing with a shape.

This sounds absolutely ridiculous that a whole new service pack is being released only a few months after the original release. Please it's so much of a hassle! If only Microsoft would update the install CD automatically too, so I don't have to update each time I re-install windows, which will happen frequently.

I find the concept given by Steorn very interesting, yet it doesn't seem to make sense to me. While I just have average knowledge on Introductory Physics, it doesn't seem to make sense that energy can be indefinitely produced without having it transfered from somewhere else. The system would have to have no wear or tear, and it will have to forever function without any chemical changes such as corrosion etc. and will not depend on gravity etc. Bizarre... if this energy exists, why are humans the ones to start it up? Perhaps it's just a really really long oscillating pendulum or something :PAlthough the only free energy we have right now is just the fact that lots of energy exist even if all the humans died on the earth, for example, energy from the sun, energy from wind and water, and gravity. I think that's enough energy for us to last a few million lifetimes.

Personally I don't think Safari for Windows is anything to be so happy about. After all, it's just another Apple conspiracy, no?
