Well - I'm trying to set up .htaccess for a password to a file on my site, but I can't login with the user and pass I gave. I think it's cause I don't have the whole directory. I'm using this site: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ This is my .htaccess: AuthName "Restricted Area" AuthType Basic AuthUserFile /.htpasswds/.htpasswd AuthGroupFile /dev/null <Files submit.php> require valid-user </Files> I noticed the htpasswds directory when I was looking around. I expect that is what it's for, right? Anyhow, does anyone know the path I need to use this?

I totally agree. They're so stuck-up. They're like... Bill Gates. =o I once went in there... looking for a button set for my forum. I posted int he request/search forum asking for some buttons. I told them the colors and I might have linked to my forum, but I don't remember. A mod replied back "We need color codes or we can't do it. READ THE RULES", etc.. Really rude manner, all around worthlessly. This person wouldn't have helped me even if I were about to fall into the Grand Canyon. So I said forget it and close it. Which is exactly what he did. I've never posted there again. It's just amazing how rude and unhelpful they can be. =\ They're not even doing what they say the will. I barely even browse for skins any more, because I know I can go somewhere else to some persons *personal* website and get a much better looking skin.

Ps3 Graphics Obsolete Before Release.
Sharn replied to PlugComputers's topic in Science and Technology
The thing is, your PS3 will never have to run Winblows on it. And Vista will take up half that cards power just running. >.< And the PS3 will do what it needs. It just doesn't need to be top-of-the-line. It will still probably blow you off your seat with what it has.And everyone thought blu-rays would cost a lot... They're going to cost exactly the same as Xbox360 games. And 50Gb? That's larger than my computer hard drive. Yeah, laugh. That's still a ton load of storage. Imagine how huge a Final Fantasy map could fit on there. =D -
How To Create An Animated Gif? from a video
Sharn replied to darran's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Quick question. Do you have Photoshop and Imageready? If so, you *can* open some video files in Imageready, and take out every x frames. It's used for making those animated sigs with small vids in them. (I've done a couple)If you have those, reply back and I'll try to help. -
Connecting To My Sql Db With Sqlyog Any idea how?
Sharn replied to Sharn's topic in Web Hosting Support
Yeah, I just looked also, but I didn't see anything that stuck out either. =\ I have a feeling Opaque is going to be the only one who can answer this one... Or maybe Buffalo, but I'm not sure. -
Hi, I'd like to connect to my SQL database with this program called SQLyog. The link: https://www.webyog.com/ I tried putting in the IP for phpmyadmin, and just worknplay.trap17.com, they both try to connect, but it says access is denied. So I know it's connecting to the server, it's just not letting the account log in. My guess is, connections are only allowed from localhost, but I'm not sure. Anyone else know? EDIT: Figured I'd say *why*. I'm building a website for a forum, and I want a safe way for the admins and mods to post news and guides and whatnot. I'm not the master at PHP, so I probably can't figure out how to make a login system, let alone make it safe.

Thanks for the comments, peeps... I made this one like... yesterday. Forgot to post it here... Here it is: I really like it. Pretty sweet. And, Sprnknwn, thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll take a grunge brush to that one too. It's so hard to find live pictures of bands. Otherwise that's definitely what I'd use, since it puts much more feeling into a sig. When I started on the Savage Garden one, it actually had quite a lot of brackground. But after all the adjustment layers and the really light brushing, I got rid of most of it. Really helps draw attention to the singer. MIGUE2k7... you made a great point with the disc sleeve. Once you looke at it that way... it really does. =o Good luck on making your own! If you need a tip or have a question, just ask. These are mostly just experiments... I went into a no-sig period for like 3 months... I was hopeless with the style i was using. It couldn't be expanded on. So I had to try something different. Liking the results so far. Gonna go to something other than bands soon, I hope. I personally don't think the original should be used in rating/commenting sigs. It's how the end result looks that matters.
-
Well, I figured I'd try a band sig to get back into graphics. This is actually the first time I've worked with curves and gradient maps, so it's pretty... plain. Next one will be better. C&C, anyone? EDIT: New Goo Goo Dolls signature... More C&C anyone? I know - this one's pretty plain. Could use some suggestions on how to liven it up some more.

1. It's not Nintendo. Opera released the browser. That's $20+ more to get on the internet. 2. That's great and all, if you want to watch your videos on a screen smaller than your calculator screen. 3. A huge factor in my choice between a PS2 and Gamecube was the fact I had tons of PS1 games. I also had plenty of N64 games. But the Gamecube couldn't play them. So, why pay $40 for enough new games to make up for your old stash when you could play your old games. 4. Sony has been using discs for exactly that reason since the N64. With a Gamecube you get... what, 2Gb or 4Gb worth of game depending on dual layer or not? PS2 has twice that, respectively. And last... if money doesn't grow on trees, why not just use your computer? What's even the point of a console? All I was pointing out, Nintendo's compatibility is bad. Playstation has kept up one type through they're history - and are going to through the PS3. Nintendo is switching disc sizes on the Wii. Yes - it can still play old games, but they are changing sizes. And yeah - the dual screen thing is cool. I would personally not mind which system I got if it was given to me. If I were to buy one, it would be a PSP. I've grown up on Sony. They know what they're doing just as much an Nintendo. Nintendo just tries new stuff. And don't get me wrong - the Wii is REALLY cool. It's just not going to have as much processing power as either of the new systems. It is, however small, compact and pretty. The controller is awesome, you can download old games. Which I believe should be free, but from what I've seen, they're definitely not.

My monitor (HPL1506) actually has an auto-calibrate/adjust button right on the front. Very handy. One way to do it... Do you have Photoshop? Dunno how far back it can be. But with CS2, there's a new option in your XP control panel to set-up your monitor color. It's made to make your graphics work look correct, so it should be real colors.

Wow, large bump. I just want to say.... That's not possible. =\ In Runescape... only the first letters of a word are capitalised. So it would have to have been spelled Buffalo.h.e.l.p or Bufallo h e l pSo, eh... Busted. You just used Paint to put the name in, Kay?

I would not suggest drinking energy drinks before any exams. Caffiene is NOT good for you, no-matter how much people say it is. It's a quick burst of energy that will leave you burned out and tired a couple hours later. Then there's the addiction factor - when you start drinking them regularly, your going to have a hard time without them, and they cost a LOT. I generally try to stay away from caffeine altogether. As Albus said, if you'd eat your veggies, and especially fruits, you won't need energy drinks. Sugar is a simple carbohydrate, it burns quick and hot, leaving you worn out. Complex carbohydrates, found in many vegetables and fruits keep your body going ALL day. I personally am quite against energy drinks. It give people just another way to head down the easy path. It IS you choice. But may I just say, make it wisely and stay away from them?

Looking For Test Web Hosting For Scripts Development
Sharn replied to randomdood's topic in Websites and Web Designing
That works great for normal HTML designing and all, but when you get to dynamic pages, like PHP, it doesn't work at all. That's why you do a quick search for XAMPP and host it yourself. Then you have complete control over it all, it's faster, and theres no uploading times whatsoever. -
Funny Audio Thing That Is Al Over The Web
Sharn replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in General Discussion
Great find, AD. You can't help but laugh. Lol... Went to the Youtube one, and saw this one up next: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/= (Has swear words) -
The thing is, you pay for all the channels you DON'T want. For example, my family has Dish, we pay, what, 30$ a month? HALF our channels are sports. My family has absolutely no reason, nor want to watch sports, so we're sitting here, paying for channels we NEVER watch, while missing out on the good channels, cause they're not in our package.I love the idea. Though most of us who deal with this have thought of it. We wouldn't even mind paying like... 75 cents a month per channel. That would be a WAY better deal than what we're getting now.

The first computer I EVEr used was... I THINK on Windows95, though not sure...It had like 256Mb hard drive, 32Mb RAM, actually had a CD player, though, it was mostly useless. It had a 3.5" floppy, your standard PS2 jacks for mouse/keyboard. Not sure what it had for video, but had tons of games installed. All of which you had to open from DOS, lol.The first computer I really used is still up and running, 250Gb hardrive, but since it's on WinME, it can only handle 170Gbs... 198Mb RAM 3Mb video, CD and 3.5" floppy.Great computer for Linux, though haven't gotten it on it yet.

My Guidewriter Simple Visual Basic program to aid in making guides
Sharn replied to Sharn's topic in Programming
Hmmmm. Not a bad idea. I would happily give it a try, but I made this on my old computer, which I cleaned out for my brother when I got my new one, and apparently deleted the project files. =\ I'm thinking about rebuilding the whole thing soon, maybe with a color scheme or something to make it look nicer. Thanks for the comment. -
I wrote this about 3 months ago for a different forum (Runescape Forums, one I'm currently a G-Mod of. ) and I figured I'd share it with you. All it is, is a text editor with built in buttons and menus for adding BBCodes. For example, if you wanted to make something bold, you type what you want, highlight it, find bold in the text menu and click it. The nicest thing is, you can save, and you don't have to worry about a forum failing after taking hours to write a guide. I highly suggest you try it if you write guides often, the members on RsForums really loved it. Here's a couple pictures of the latest version (Only number 2) (Download) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ And uhhh, the dropdown boxes do not work well at all, because when you click one, it takes away the focus from the text box. If you want to use them, drag it down to what you want, select the text and hit the button next to it. (eg. Align Text) It's probably just easier to use the menu. And... a download link. It's in a zip, not sure why I zipped it first, but I did. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ If you get an error, please, before asking about it, try downloading and installing these VB6 runtime files: http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/vbrun6.html There's a good chance you have them already, but if you don't... get them anyhow.
-
Yeah - it's all right. But... I would suggest adding some more things you can do. Like, for example. I know you can define borders in the CSS,I just don't know how. That would come in quite useful. Thanks anyhow. I've been wanting to learn CSS for quite a while, and this is just enough to get me started.

You can't beat internet, music, pictures, and the ability to expand upon that. The PSP is practically a handheld computer, you could probably install Linux on it if you wanted. Plus - the graphics power is equal to a PS2, whereas a DS's graphics power is what? A PSone, or thereabouts. You don't HAVE to buy UMD DVDs, either. You can put your normal ones on flash cards and just pla them on your PSP.Overall, I'd WAY prefer a PSP. Way more advanced. And Nintendo is known for their HORRIBLE backwards compatibility. Meaning, they can't play old games. Not until they did handhelds. Think about NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube? None of them can play any other's games.
-
That was so annoying... I only actually got like two of the tests wrong, but I messed up when getting caught back up, cause I was in a hurry. =\Overall, awesome find! was pretty fun. (The littlest red circle pissed me off. )

I don't think you understand this. Sex before marriage is bad, because if you get that woman pregnant, you have no obligation to stay with her and help her. You can walk away. THAT'S not right. You should have to help take care of what you help create. And he wasn't reffering to everything that is pleasurable as bad. There's many many things you can do to have fun and be happy that do not include immoral acts. And, Church is not just a stoney, cold building. Have you ever gone to an LDS church? Ever attended to one on Sunday? I am not trying to say your bad, and I have no reason to fight you over this, because it is your right to an opinion. As for the point of this topic, I believe it is 100% true. Satan's (In my beliefs) number one assault is to make people think there is no such thing as evil. nothing is going to happen if you hurt somebody. It's all right to do drugs. And he's very good at it, you can tell by just standing back and taking a good look at the world today. These things do ruin peoples lives. You can see it happening everywhere. It amazes me, personally.

Having no religion is like having a world without laws at all. Without religion, what says what is right or wrong? Is it human nature to do what is right? I think that there is a quite obvious answer to the question.Next, a belief is a religion. Say... you believe in being gay. That IS a religion. You believe... killing people is wrong. A religion. You can't live without religion. Unless you don't think. If you think, you create a religion of your own.I, personally, don't think it would be better. As of now, the people who believe in a *peaceful* religion keep themselves under control. If they wake up one morning and find they have no... definition of right and wrong... what are they going to do? You can't even tell. To get rid of religion you would have to eliminate all thought processes on the planet, cause there's always racial discrimination. There's always jealousy. there's always hatred. These are things you cannot erase. They cannot disappear. Life is life.
