Matak, HDTV is high-definition. 19" is actually quite large. It's about as big asd they get and still be called a monitor. and thing past that is probably going to be called a TV.I'm happy with my tiny 15" HP LCD. works great for what I do. (Little gaming, mostly web-surfing)The only problem is it doesn't go past 1024x768... It's very crisp, fast, way easier on my eyes than the old CRT, and has an auto-adjust feature. (Life saver when something is way off - and it gets the page EXACTLY to the edges of the screen - so you can use it all)I'll probably never get a plasma now. Knowing the burn in issue, I wouldn't risk it. I leave my computer on most nights, and if something were to pop up and keep the screensaver from coming on/monitor from auto-shutoff, it would be done. Which would bite.So yeah - I'm perfectly happy with my LCD. Great monitor if a little small.

.... I beg to differ. PS1 and N64 were very close to equal. I own both, so no "you don't know that". Don't get me wrong, N64 made gaming history if you ask me. That was probably Nintendo biggest console. No other game like Perfect Dark. As for PS2 and Gamecube... Gamecube has simple graphics. The games are usually simplified so they look really neat. I have nothing wrong with that, but it's not as graphic intensive as PS2, it was way more gameplay-centered. That's Nintendo's thing. If you didn't notice, Xbox came out over half a year after both those. It should even be counted in that "round".

I downloaded it a few days ago.... It actually installed and RAN on my old PC. 192Mb ram, 600Mhz CPU WinXP.The first thing I noticed was the clean interface. Everything was cleanly tabbed and had the pop-open menus and all. It took forever to install, but I think it's because of the sad specs of said computer. Other than that, it looked mostly the same to me. No new tools, maybe some filters. I didn't look. That brush incompatibility kind of kills it though. =\ I've got lots of brushes I'd want to use....

I'm definitely a Sony fan. I've had PS1, PS2, and hopefully a PS3.... someday. The graphics are stunning, with 50GB of game.... You could make a practically non-ending game. The one thing Sony has always, and probably always will lack, is little mini-games and side missions to keep you entertained and interested. I've actually been looking at the Wii, because the PS3 just isn't sanely priced. At least for me. Besides, the gameplay looks alright and the war games look crazily engaging. Besides the price is nearly reasonable.Someday when I have a real job, () I'll buy me a PS3, but for now, if it's anything it'll be a Wii. Just because it's affordable and I'll never buy a Microsoft product. Bill Gates has enough money as it is.

Yeah - that's a php 5 command. So, there really isn't any way to make it work on Xisto. I'm sure they will switch to it when it's stable, though. Unless it's absolutely required to have it, you MAY be able to edit it out somehow. I'm not sure about that, though. You'll have more of a chance messing it up than making it work.

Ahhhh. Another smart person. Heh. Distro is short for Distribution, many times it's called "flavor", every distro has it's benefits and whatnot. There are the very powerful self-complied ones like Gentoo and Debian, for advanced users, then there are WAY easier ones. Like OpenSuse, Mandriva and *Ubuntu. (Comes in Kubuntu, Edubuntu and Xubuntu)For a first user, I suggest Ubuntu or Kubuntu. Try them both, the difference is one runs Gnome and one runs KDE. You'll be able to find out the difference between those two on the internet. Anywho. Ubuntu is EXTREMELY free-software based, meaning you will never have to pay for it. Ever. It's a small download, and they put out newer things around every 6 months. Not to mention, they are all live boots. Meaning you can "try before you buy." (AKA install)They have HUGE repositorys with any piece of software you could ever need/want, and the install is literally a breeze. There are many guides on the internet to help you on the partitioning thing. But basically, partitioning splits up your hard drive into pieces, each looks like a new hard drive to your OS. Basically, you'll need two partitions. One for linux and one for Windows. (You probably won't want to be stranded with just Linux on your first try)That's a very good article. Lays out some fundamental differences, that a Windows person would need to know. Good luck with getting it installing it. If you'd like some help or recommendations, I'll gladly help. Hmmm. Skimmed it, looks VERY nice. Really thorough, which is nice for us CSS newbies. Also not needing any HTML editors and stuff is very nice, so anyone anywhere can do it. Doesn't matter about OS, just gotta have a browser. I've worked with a (premade) CSS layout, and it's so easy to make dynamic and edit, it blows other websites away.I've been wanting to get into pure CSS for a while. I'll definitely give it a try soon.

Ok, to start, the purpose of the script. I'm trying to make a script that puts a link on every page on an Invisionfree forum (IPB 1.3) that takes you to a thread and automatically put in the url from which you clicked. I already have the whole thing working, but when I go to edit my signature, it inputs most of the url into the box. It replaces my whole sig with that, so it's a big problem. Ohhhh. NES was great fun. I still have one, but it doesn't work very well anymore (Wonder why. ) I'll probably try to buy a replacement someday, just to play all the games. You made some really good points there, matak. I really like the law one. I had never thought of that. First you start thinking "Dude, drugs are ok, that law is gay and not right." Then you get high and start "thinking" and figure out all laws must be not right. So you go out, rob a house, kill a person and steal their car.Then you get home, finally get out of your trance, sell it all on ebay, and now you can buy more drugs! Great idea, isn't it?Anywho. I meant not real in that.... you don't get them from doing something real. They're there, but... so? What did you do to deserve to feel "good". Then what will you do to deserve to feel like crap afterwards?When you do something real, it lasts. There are things you could do once a month and still have the time of your life every time. Drugs last less than a day. And every time you do them, your body builds up against them. You have to use more and more, to get the same feeling. Eventually you just plain can't get the feeling. It's just not there anymore. You can't even get the feeling when you actually do something that should cause it. You become immune to feel-good hormones, because your body gets so much of them. You are now basically empty.You already sound like an addict. "I'm not hooked, I just do it occasionally." Pfft. Right. I'm sure.... And you might be careful admitting it on the internet. If I got your IP, I could run a whois and know exactly where you live, your ISP, and possibly your name. Well, there's my third and fourth cents.

Wow... You amaze me. Your exactly the reason teens still do drugs. I don't care what you say. You do drugs, it only pushes others. A very small chance? I GAURANTEE 9 out of 10 people who "try" marijuana become hooked, practically for life. People are killed because of these drugs. Not only the people who DO them, but many others also. Bottom line: They hurt you. They hurt others. Why do it at all? "Fun"? Like crap. Just an excuse to get away from real life. Get a hobby. Try an extreme sport. You'll get way more enjoyment that LASTS out of something real. Drugs - are fake. Skydiving - is not. It's real enjoyment. Real fun. And your not constantly hurting your body, either. I personally think that anyone who uses any of those drugs deserves to be killed by them. Drugs are practically the scum of the earth.Alcohol causes hundreds of deaths a *day*. When your drunk, you lose the privelage to make your own decisions. Just because you swear now you will never drive drunk doesn't mean you will when you ARE drunk. WMP is so bloated. They just keep making it look nicer. There's always a consequence, and in this case it's using up most of your computerrs resources. I use Winamp. The plugin system is *the best* and it's fairly light. Not to mention the playlists actually *work*. WMP screws up my fil;es all over. >.<

Definatly ++ Just go get Firefox. It's a lot safer and much more standards compliant. Not to mention then your not supporting proprietary software. Open source is always the best. And, uh.... no offense, Truefusion, but no. I downgraded to IE 6 on my old computer pretty easily. If you ask me, IE7 is just a bloated version of IE6. Yeah, it's a tiny bit safer and a tiny bit more standards compliant, but it's slower. And uglier. I find it way harder to use than even IE6. They aren't putting the important stuff in thew toolbar. It's all hidden in menus and options *if it's there at all.* Not to mention FF2.0 has built in spellcheck.

Yeah, someone is just screwing around and bidding it up. That person will never get that much money for it. Ever. Even if he ships it to the winner. It's just a big fake, like most of the rest of them. I can't believe people are bidding them up that high. It's just stupid. They're in such a rush to get one they end up paying $1000 extra for a GAME CONSOLE. =\Too much money in the world today. I want one, but I'll probably never get it. Just stick to the PC and PS2 for gaming.

I would suggest doing some stuff for free first, just to test yourself. If you find you have the dedication, time, and skills, go for it! It's really all just learning the code. Challenge yourself to do something pretty big, so you know you'll be able to figure out anything in the future.Also, give some examples of what you can do now. It's surprising what you can learn from just one project. I've learned all sorts of new stuff just creating a simple guide/news system for my fave Runescape forum. If you can't figure something out, *google it.* You can almost always figure out what you need.

Rofl... I like this topic. Though I'm not a super nerd/geek, I admit I tend to... stray towards that. =o I do agree, though. I'm homeschooled, very into the computer and all. But I go to seminary at our local high school. And all these sports jocks are so.... slow. They talk slow, read slow, think slow, etc.. Not dissing on anyone, but that's what you get when you skip half your school for football. =\

Pfft. That'll run any operating system at light speed. =O The dual core processor is the biggest thing on the market right now. Unless you *really* want ti, go a little cheaper and drop to 2Gb RAM. That's more than any person should ever need. (I'm happy with 512Mb) And, as said above, your going to need a good graphics card. If your going for hardcore gaming, go for a nVidia 512Mb card. I suggest going to http://www.newegg.com/ and searching around there for graphics cards. They have really good prices. 2 terabytes is larger than you'll need also, so I would drop that to, I would say, around 500Gb. The screen will pwn. Overall, you probably can't go wrong with that much money or that computer. You can get a good PC for $1000 if you put some of it together yourself.
