  1. Yes. I play the expansion set. The Druid is the best charactor I think. I have a bear, a few ravens, a thorny spirit and a corpse eater along with me. This combination is very powerful. The Sorceress is the second best. Necromancer is too weak in combat and his spells are not very good...
  2. Don't think so. There are far too many IMs already so that muti-protocol IMs like Trillian and GAIM are getting more and more popular. I got an account at ICQ in 1996 something (when I was on 28K modem) and I think I am the first bunch to play with what we call IMs (excluding channel-based IRC). I got fed up with it 1 year later and I am not using it anymore. Can't see why people like IMs.
  3. I once used SAV 9.00 coporate, it was a very good program, handy, and not as resource hungry as NAV. But since NIS 2005, the NAV is integrated into NIS, so I have to use NIS 2005 for the firewall and intrusion detection. NAV 2005 also has a built in firewall. But NAV/NIS are both resource hungry. You should have 512MB RAM, like me, to run the programs smoothly.
  4. Yes, you are right! I have checked it with WinHex and I can see the Group and the ID you mentioned. It is easy to hide some texts in JPG files and Wav files, and I wonder whether this is a joke by one of M$ employees or really Bill is using some piece of software.... Interesting...
  5. For graphics, I use Photoshop CS and Fireworks MX 2004. The batch function in Fireworks is particular useful. For PHP, I used Komodo, Ultraedit and Dreamweaver. Komodo is a little bit clumsy, Ultraedit often will do. Frontpage is totally useless. For uploading, FlashFXP is my choice.
  6. I disagree. I have played Ultima for a few generations. The Ultima Online disapointed me. Fot RTS games like Warcraft and C&C, I cannot survive without cheats, so online RTS games are not for me anyway. I played Diablo II online and was killed almost instantaneous when I got the war zone.... I really don't like online games.
  7. I have played it for a while. I hate the censorship so I applied the no censorship patch. The game is too girlish for me, so I gave it up recently. It will perhaps be more suitable for my little sister...
  8. I caught googlebot on my blog and gallery when I first built my site. For a month or two, my name actualled topped the google search result list. However, it seems that the rank of my site dropped steadily as time passed, which is contrary to the situation with other search engines like msn and yahoo. I often wonder why there is such a change....
  9. Haha, I have accounts in all the email providers you listed. Gmail is stable and fast, though not as fast as Rediff. Yahoo is reliable too but too many ads (in fact, half of the page goes to ads). Hotmail is the worst of all. Offering 2MB of space is an insult to all users. I will choose Gmail from this list.
  10. Thanks for you notification. I have been using Mozilla even since Netscape virtually gave up its browser. The worst thing about IE is its ActiveX, a component that M$ is still too stubborn to give up. It is also vulnerable to all kinds of attacks. From the object tag vulnerability to the latest iframe vulnerability, it is plagued with every possible blunder in programming.

    The Sims 2!

I am playing this game on a P4 2.4 (512MB RAM) machine. It takes ~3GB of harddisk storage! Anyway, it runs quite smoothly. I don't like the censorship thing in the game so I applied the no censorship patch. Despite the stunning features, I think the game is too complicated and too girlish for me.
  12. I have been playing this with the help of a "health-freezing" trainer. The prince is rather like an acrobat, or some sort of a tomb raider. The fight on the pirate ship is really a classic. The story though is not as good. I don't like the idea of a Time Portal. Switching to and from the past and the present is really annoying.
  13. I am also considering building a portal with a forum. I wondered why you have chosen to use e107 instead of phpBB Plus? phpBB seems to have a larger community with more styles and mods. Do you find e107 more stable? Or is it more easy to manage?
  14. I like the nuclear missiles and overlord tanks from China, their power plants are also much better than that of US. However the Chinese air force is simply too weak. The US stealth bombers are my favorite that's why I still like playing US more. The US Ions cannons recharge quickly and you can take out all those weapons of mass destruction preemptively.
  15. I have been with Norton since Norton Personal Firewall 2003. I am using Norton Internet Security 2005 now. It is resouce-hungry but this doesn't matter much with my computer. One thing I don't like is that it disables the Windows Firewall by default. Otherwise, it is quite stable and trustworthy.
  16. Mozilla 1.7.3 is still by favorite. I have used IE, Konqueror, Netscape, but none of these satisfied me. I think the most powerful thing about Mozilla/Firefox is the Mozilla framework which allows people to write plugins for it. Plugins that let you read HTTP headers without a sniffer and plugins that even let you spoof referrer, user-agents cannot be found in any other browser.
  17. Basically, the choice is between cfm/php/asp and jsp. cfm is out already and asp is from a company that we don't like. php seem to be the best out there. I would suggest you start by looking at others' codes. Say codes and MODs from Bulletins like phpBB, IPB, Celeste, phpNuke, blogs like Wordpress and galleries like Coppermine and Gallery are really good. You may also try modifying others' codes. These are good ways to start with php.
  18. I always play human in the game and I don't think the new hero they add to the game is really appealing to me. The game is already too complicated with units (say the neutral units that you can hire) and upgrades. Given the limitations of RTS games, the units are often not used to their power.
  19. I never use email clients as none of them are 100% safe. I stick to webmail so that malicious codes won't be able to get thru. I have nevered get infected by any of those mass mail viruses.
  20. I have been to FreeBSD, AIX and Linux. Linux is simply my favorite. AIX gave me headache, FreeBSD is "orthodox" and stable, but does not come with so many useful packages. Linux has the best support from the community. Problems can be sorted out simply by googling. That's why I love it.
