My only problem with getting an SLR is the expense.I don't see myself as serious enough about photography to justify spending that much on a nice camera.About the cyber-shot. I dislike that I can't use my current SD card (which my laptop has a slot for). The canon powershot isn't much better, as I also dislike the fact that it doesn't have rechargeable batteries. But it does have the CHDK custom firmware, which would solve my manual settings woes. Maybe I'm just too picky :/.

Learned On Their Own Who here is self tought?
DarkPsycho replied to Echo_of_thunder's topic in General Discussion
I learned almost everything I know about computers (except for Java and Visual Basic) from being self-taught.Using Linux, I got from trying out Ubuntu a little while back, enjoying it, and switching to Arch. Linux is basically all about being self-taught.HTML learning started from Neopets (no joke), their little guide to HTML for Guild creators.CSS was from making skins on InvisionFree message boards.Photoshop went along with making the skins. In terms of hardware, I haven't done much, but I have often looked up information on hardware in attempt to give myself knowledge in case I ever get to build my own computer (or simply have the money to do so).I will admit, I did actually learn how to type correctly in an intro to word processing class. Previously I had used the two index fingers method. It's so hard not to be self-taught with computers. I don't know anyone who didn't know how to use Word or Excel before taking a class on it. Even a friend of mine who rarely gets to go on the computer because of his parents knows enough about them to get by fairly well. He has jailbroken his ipod touch and uses it for all of his internet needs. -
I'm basically looking for a decent point and shoot camera that will let me have manual control over most(if not all) of the operations:Focus, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, ev compensation, white balance, etc.Maybe some brand names that allow this? My current point and shoot doesn't let me manually control shutter speed or aperture.I've heard about CHDK on canon powershot cameras, would this fit my needs?

That's actually untrue. Making websites available for mobile devices may be a side effect of Web 2.0, but it is not the definition.Web 2.0 is basically a change in the way websites are designed now. Now, websites are aimed at communication between people and sharing files/information between people. Social networking sites are excellent examples of this, as they are primarily aimed at connecting people to one another.

They always find the stupidest people to make these.I honestly don't know anyone that stupid, and have never known anyone that stupid in my whole life. But, I'm gonna be honest I probably would've *BLEEP*ed up the "Which country starts with a U?" question. I mean, I knew it right when I saw the question, but I know if he actually came up to me in person, I might mess that up. Most people don't think of the "United States of America", they think of "America", even though the former is technically correct.TBH, you could probably do this in any other country.

This is exactly it. All these other occupations that have been mentioned during this topic are learnable skills. I can go to school and become a neurosurgeon or a lawyer. You usually don't hear about professionals growing up being bad at the sport they currently play, they are usually just born with a natural ability. Whereas, the other two jobs I mentioned don't really require natural ability (arguable a neurosurgeon does, but you can still go through medical school and become a licensed doctor whether or not you are an amazingly gifted surgeon). This is just the way the economy works. As a percentage of the population, sports players are very unique. I once heard this same debate a long time ago, probably when I was in elementary school. Back then, they were arguing about how firemen and police officers risk their lives and don't make nearly as much as sports players. That one is a combination of what I said earlier and the fact that the government isn't going to pay ungodly amounts of money to a person that can be replaced by almost any other random person on the street if they were given proper training. Not to diminish the skills of a police officer or fireman, I know I couldn't do what they do.

I went from a school with a normal 45 minute per class schedule, to a school with a block schedule. I enjoy having the block schedule, but I can see why the 45 minute classes would be more effective, because you are taking classes all year rather than just half. Also, I went from an indoor school with hallways to an outdoor school where every classroom leads outside.Overall, I like my new school, even if most of the people who have lived here for a while don't.

Last time I posted in one of these I lived in New Jersey.Live in Southern California now. Besides missing my old friends, it's actually been really great.

A Teenagers Workout Get up. Stand up
DarkPsycho replied to SavageTaktikz's topic in Health & Fitness
Every morning, before school, I go with my friend to the gym and work out for like half an hour.It helps to have someone doing it with you, because otherwise I don't think I would be.After that we bike to the school, which is like 2-3 miles away. It's not much, but its something. -
Quake Rattles New Jersey Small Earth Quake
DarkPsycho replied to Echo_of_thunder's topic in General Discussion
Oh man, I used to live in NJ about 8 months ago. Central NJ too.But now I live in California, and still haven't really felt an earthquake, even though there have supposedly been one or two since I've gotten here. And that article says that small earthquakes aren't uncommon in that area? Why didn't I ever feel one? -
I agree completely on flight simulator. That game almost makes me want to become a pilot. It's so realistic, I can actually see how that guy in Snakes on A Plane (mediocre movie btw) was able to land it successfully without ever actually having flown before. My favorite regular games are CoD, CoD2, CoD4 (sorry never got world at war), Gunz: The Duel, MU, and Fallout 3. My friend introduced me to Call of Duty a while back and I've loved it ever since. Only ever missed out on CoD3 because I couldn't be bothered to buy a console-only game when I was really into PC gaming. Gunz is just a fun game. I love how the use of glitches in the game actually developed into a unique style of fighting. MU wasn't entirely that special, as far as RPGs go, it was pretty standard. I just got really hooked on it because my friend played. Fallout 3 is just a great game. FPS and RPG, my two favorite genres. It could've been so much better if they just allowed for exploration after the main quest is completed. I mean, it really depends on your tastes what you consider the best game. Call of Duty is most definitely a great game with a large following, but to call it the best is untrue.

If You're Good At Maths... I have a sequence problem

https://answers.yahoo.com/ from what I can tell the equation to find the nth term would be: 11/6(n^3) + 11(n^2) + 121/6(n) + 11 = nth term -
This topic is like the guitar festival.I wasn't cool enough to learn guitar or give enough of a damn to buy a decent one so I play the trumpet. XD Bach VBS 1S (Exactly the same as a standard strad except for a two piece bell)

Alright, I just found out about this very recently on my quest to get a wireless adapter for my Xbox 360. You can use the wireless connection from your laptop as an internet connection for the 360. I'm putting this up because I had a lot of trouble with the DNS portion of this and no one has posted up the way that I found to do it, so here I go. Supplies: Laptop connected to internet Xbox 360 Ethernet Cable (comes with Xbox, can use any other though) 1. First, have your xbox turned on. Also have your PC on, since this next part is all with the computer. This will probably work with a wired connection as well (but you could probably just hook straight up to your router or modem then), but here it is. First go to start and go into your control panel. Switch to classic view by using the link in the top left corner of the window. Find Network Connections and open it. 2. You should see a "Local Area Connection" (unconnected, this is for the connection to the Xbox) and your internet connection (mine is called "Wireless Network Connection"). Connect the ethernet cable to your laptop and to the back of the 360. Enable the "Local Area Connection". After it is completely connected, disable your internet connection, in my case "Wireless Network Connection". Once is it disable, right click the internet connection and click properties. Go to the Advanced tab and check off "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection." Allow this to finish, it may take a little bit. Once it is done, your internet connection should say shared next to the status of the connection. 3. Enable your internet connection. Once it is fully connected, right click the "Local Area Connection" and click repair. Allow that to finish. On your Xbox, find the system panel and navigate through it until you find "Test Connection to Xbox Live". Test the connection. If it works, congratulations, you don't need this next part. For some, at this point, they get a DNS error. There are a number of ways to fix this. None of them worked for me however (at least on the places I looked). So I found my own way. If my way doesn't work for you, then you can search in google for it and you should get a number of other troubleshooting tips. 4. You must have a connection to a router. If you have a wired connection to a modem, then I don't know what is the problem. In order to be able to navigate the internet again you need to disable the "Local Area Connection" and then repair the Internet Connection (follow steps above to enable everything again once you are done). Go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ . You will be asked for a login. On most routers it is: Username: admin Password: (no password) If this does not work, look up the login information for you router model. Once logged in, you must find where your DNS server IPs would be listed. I only have specific information for my router, so if you can't find it, look up where to find the IPs on your router model. My router is a D-Link DI-514. On the left side-bar, Wizard should be highlighted. On the top bar, click Status. Under WAN you should find DNS IPs. Manually input these into your Xbox (rather than have it find them automatically) and test your connection again. At this point it should be working. Any other errors can be search for online. I just felt that this specific one should be mentioned, because all the fixes available (AFAIK) did not work for me. Hopefully this helps I will be editing this with images to make it easier, and probably a more detailed section on where to look on the Xbox for the things I mentioned.

Ezyrewards, Free Domains No jip, no rip, all real.
DarkPsycho replied to rejected's topic in General Discussion
A little while ago they had a .net domain for only 500 points (might've been 600, don't remember).I got that one . I had quit doing it previously, but luckily I checked back while they had that offer and I got it . -
The uni.cc address didn't work for me, so I tried the same one but with Xisto.com. (If that is the wrong site, then forget everything I am saying now)I agree, you need to learn CSS and implement it into your site. Currently, it is too bland (only one primary color), and everything kind of runs together. Also I would suggest coloring the adsense ads to match your site better. Right now they stand out and seem obtrusive. In my opinion, the google search is kind of a waste. Personally, I never use the google search on someone's site (I just go to google directly if I want to search). One last thing, your site has the XHTML 1.0 valid image, but your site doesn't pass validation. Don't know if that is just something you are working on achieving or something like that.

Yea, that is true. I was slightly misinformed about the gaming of Mac's vs. Linux. They are about on par in compatible games. Which makes sense because they are both relatively close (~0.5% apart) in terms of users. And I can see the problems that would be created for compatibility with all of the different distros.

If you set up the domain for redirect to have-heart.trap17.com it will only show have-heart.net all the time.If you put in the Xisto nameservers when you are setting up the domain it will show have-heart.net/whatever.Nameservers:ns1.trap17.comns2.trap17.com

So, you're telling me that scientists all over the world took this one man's word for it that he saw a dinosaur. First of all, it is common knowledge that dinosaurs are extinct (so him seeing one would not make sense, as scientists would not be digging for fossils if they were alive). Second, dinosaurs (in fact or fiction) did not exist until fossils were discovered of them, so there are no "legends". People didn't just make this stuff up.
-
Thats not entirely true. He was wondering what would happen if someone did.And its really not incredible, just a stupid waste of a nuke. [/offtopic] What would be the reasoning behind faking dinosaurs? Its not like there being no dinosaurs would seriously affect mankind in any way (except for the non-existance of paleontology). That would be a waste of money and time for little to no gain.

Mac Vs Pc Which is better? [OPINION]
DarkPsycho replied to savgunz's topic in Science and Technology
I think you are talking about Windows vs. Mac. Because hardware isn't that different if it has the same specs. And I have yet to see computer hardware (internal) that is "user-friendly". PC has become synonymous with Windows even though PC means Personal Computer. There are so many different kinds of hardware for computers that run Windows, so saying that PCs are slower is a huge generalization (if you define a PC as a computer running Windows). So, basically what I'm saying is, please use the proper terms when referring to the two (or at least tell what you mean by "PC"). -
What Is Your Website About? I need help
DarkPsycho replied to sweet_princess's topic in General Discussion
Exactly, that was the example my friend gave when he pitched the idea to me. -
He's using co.in not co.nr. Its a top-level domain.
