  1. My life would be really boring and dull if there were no internet. Internet practically made the computer what it is today. Nobody would want a computer if internet didn't exist, or at least I wouldn't. Even if they came out with the coolest games and other software, it just wouldn't be the same.
  2. I sometimes play on http://www.miniclip.com/games/en/ , http://www.addictinggames.com/ , http://www.ebaumsworld.com/ , and http://www.shockwave.com/home.jsp
  3. That doesn't mean that Sony won't still have high Playstation 3 sales. They'll be sold out everywhere like every other new console, reguardless of price. Sony freaks and hardcore gamers will buy them and since the casual gamer and the people who can't afford them won't, they eventually will when the price falls in a couple years.
  4. The reason I think the Wii (although I think the Revolution was a way better name for it; I don't even like Wii much) is because they're trying something different with it. There's never been a controller that's actually been a remote control, and people will want to give it a try, and because of its low price compaired to the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, most of us will be able to afford it. Also, there's never been a way to download all your Nintendo games and play them on one console, and the Wii is the only console that will do this.
  5. That thing is so big it's not funny. Today, there are harddrives small enough to fit in your palm. That harddrive was 5MB, and the iPod is 60GB: 12,000 times more capacity and probably at least 20 times smaller. In the next decade, 2GB of RAM will be considered crappy, which is pretty scary. I remember when 256MB RAM was considered good.
  6. My computer is a couple years old now but it's still pretty good. Notice from serverph: quotes added, merged with existing thread
  7. Dreus, thank you for pointing out that with iPods, you're NOT forced to use iTunes. Many simple everyday computer people have written programs to work with the iPod because they didn't like iTunes as well. There's Musicmatch, Winamp, Realplayer, Yamipod, Copypod, PodUtil, Anapod, Ephpod, EuPod, and a lot more. Also, why does everybody bag on the iPod? Sure it's got its flaws, just like every other mp3 player. And if you're whining because they're so popular, it's not that they're overrated; they got to be so popular for a reason (many reasons actually.) For one it's capacity sizes are adequete for everyone: 512MB, 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40,and 60GB (yes, I'm including the older Gen. iPods.) And you can't tell me the iPod is ugly, like some mp3 players. The design is made for easy use and so is the iPod interface. It does have a steep pricetag, but for the people who love their music, they're either willing to pay for it or have the money either way. And yes, you can use the harddrive for storage, the whole thing actually. So if you base your opinions solely on a battery problem or some other kind of hardware problem, that's not how every iPod is. And Apple gives you a 1 year warranty if anything happens, and on top of that, if you want to buy a 2 year warranty, you can wait until your 1 year is almost over, so even if something does happen you're still in good hands. Microsoft thinks that they can beat the iPod because of a Wi-Fi connection. But they're basing all their strategies on the current iPod. The new 6G iPod will be out in October (trust me I know, because Apple announces a new Generation iPod exactly 1 year after the last one.) So Microsoft will have this thing made and ready to release in November right after the new, more improved iPod is out and sure, a few people will buy the Zune (what kind of name is that?), but I bet you that more people will buy the iPod over the Zune.
  8. Where'd my 1500MB DSL go? I tried this and really I don't see any difference. The download speed is the same and so is the upload speed. I don't know what these people are pulling but I'm not buying it. Or their product. It's not even worth finding a keygen.
  9. A good, free program that could work for you would be Wavepad. It can change the speed of the song, the pitch, implace echos, different room sounds, modify the song's equalizer, and more. It can be found here: http://download.cnet.com/s/wavepad-free-edition/free/
  10. You'll have to rephrase that. But my full PS2 just burned out mabye a week ago, and I knew I wouldn't be able to last without one until the PS3 came out, let alone until its price dropped. So I started reading up online about the slim PS2 to compare how it runs differently than the PS2 (without the fan and harddrive of course) and if one was better than the other. All people were saying is that it overheats to quickly because of the lack of a cooling fan but I went out and bought one and I've kept it on for a while and I'll admit it does get a little warm but it's not that bad, and I don't see any problems in the near future.
  11. The Wii will be the lower-end system for the videogame buyers, because it's cheaper but still powerful, and just like the Gamecube did, it will play the role of being the cheapest system out there, which is a big plus. Also, another plus is that you will be able to download any Nintendo game ever released on the Wii's harddrive, but the harddrive size has not been released yet. And because people will want to try new things, like the Wii;s new controller for instance, that will attract custormers too. But it won't be as popular as the bigger machines: the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.The Playstation 3 is going to be a very powerful system, probably being a little better than the Xbox 360. But because of this, i.e. the Blu-Ray drive, Blu-Ray discs, 60GB harddrive, CF card reader (60GB version only), and a whole bunch of other things, it will be extremely expensive. But even though it will be very costly, people will still be there to buy it. You have to understand that there are people who either have the money still or are willing to save or cut down on something else just to be able to buy it, so the Playstation 3 will still sell, very well. It will definitely be sold out everywhere just like the Xbox360, but it will cost more. I don't agree with $100 games and a $500-$600 system, I think it's nuts, and I didn't like the Xbox 360's prices either, but if people can't afford it now, then they're going to wait for a price drop. It happened with the PS1 and the PS2, and it'll happen with the PS3, just probably not that fast at first, but it will. Then the PS3's sales will go even higher because more people will be able to buy it.The Xbox 360 was a mistake when it came out so early. Sure it got the advantage, but Microsoft rushed to get it released, so it had al kinds of bugs and glitches. Plus, there was a MAJOR shortage of them. I remember when I asked about how many Target would have, they said they were marked for 50 units. Well the time came, and they had 17. Circuit City next door should have had 50 as well, but they had 14. So if they would have waited a little longer, it would have been a lot smarter of a move for them. Well there are still problems that exist with the machine, almost 8 months after its relase. When you have the Xbox 360 running and you have a disk in it, if you attempt to turn the unit from the horizontal position to the vertical position, or visa versa, you'll hear a loud noise and when you take your disk out, it's cut up and scratched to hell. You would have thought that Microsoft would have fixed this by now, but they're in such a hurry for their money that they don't care.So in short, my lineup is PS3-Wii-Xbox 360.
  12. It's not actual "illegal" hacking, it's referred to hacking because you basically rewrite the whole Firmware of the iPod, (the OS I guess) and make it do whatever you want, like playing self built games or even building support for NES roms. There's a module made for the iPod that lets you use a paint program, and you can actually save it and transfer to your computer also. I got into it all about a year back because I was really interested in it, and the only concerns Apple has about it is that if you ruin your iPod somehow trying to install something like this, your warranty is void.By the way I'll talk to you soon about website design, because my site is in definite need for a makeover.
  13. I'm not sure if you have ever heard of a program called Security Administrator, but it is a good program that can do a lot of things to your computer's registry keys to modify everyhing to the exact extent of how you want it set up. Well this program comes with a little program called Screen Lock. Well it runs through Security Administrator, because you have to set up a password for it in that program. Well you set up the password and put a shortcut to it on your desktop. So whenever you need to lock your computer, click on Screen Lock on your desktop and you go to a blank screen with a box for your password. Or if you want, you can also set up a backround image. The whole computer is completely locked upless you manully shut it down. By the way, Security Administrator is not a free program, but it comes with a 30 day trial, and after that you can either buy it or just not use it, because Screen Lock should work without it. Look on Google for this program, since it is very helpful.
  14. Are there any Wi-Fi areas nearby where you'll be moving? It will be a little more costly, but it would be about the same speed and you would ahve DSL. Also, if you are moving to a new neighborhood or a new subdivision, your ISP may just not have it available in that area yet.
  15. Well as far as easy installing, they have a Live CD you put in your computer and boot off of, which is the main kernel of Linux, and it's called SLAX. You download an .iso file of it and burn it as an image to a blank CD and just reboot your computer with it in the drive and boot off it, either by changing your boot settings in your BIOS screen or temporarily changing it with one of your function keys. Iti also supports internet, and has other features the main build of Linux does.
  16. Well my web site's theme will be mainly iPods, as far as hacking them to do things like play Doom and a lot of other cool games, stuff like that interests me. It will also be sort of a news site for iPods as well, and it will have it's own IPB forum. So I look foward to good things in the future.
  17. I don't believe the time I spent without FireFox. Before those dark ages I was using IE, which was HORRIBLE. I had so much spyware from those popups that I eventually had to restore my computer, even though I tried removing it with a couple programs. I love the tabbed browsing and the NO POPUPS. And when I had Internet Explorer, I would open it and have to wait like 10 seconds for the page to load, all while it froze while trying to start up, so I got fed up with it and looked for something else, and I wish I found it sooner.
  18. Well I've been looking around for a good, FREE, webhost to host my website ever since my friend with a dedicated server got DoS attacked, dirty hackers, and I was browsing and I found my way here. The deal is great, 5000 MB bandwidth just for talking to people about the things you like instead of getting a crappy site with 25MB and ads. Anyway, hi to all of you.
  19. I lost interest in Need For Speed a while ago. I got into it too late. Hot Pursuit 2 was the game I bought for Playstation 2, and I loved it, but then right after that came Need For Speed: Underground. Everything just changed from there. It went from fast, expensive cars to street racing and modding. Then came Underground 2, which was really no different, and now Need For Speed: Most Wanted is out. I just lost interest in the game theme change. I bought Underground and Underground 2, but I got tired of having to unlock things just to have a fast car. It used to be you'd have a nice Miata that wasn't stock and still get by, but not now.
  20. Being serious, before I read this thread, I had never heard of Google Talk. But I don't care what anybody says, I have AIM, I've had AIM (for a long time), and I will have AIM. I've tried Yahoo and MSN, but they're just not the same, especially since nobody is on them. I have heard of ICQ, and I know that since it's been around for a while (a while meaning the BBS ages) it's the hacker's IM. I know a lot of hackers that use this to get in touch with their friends and talk about the latest compilers and such, but I've never actually seen it. If everyone for some reason seemed to make a change from AIM to some other IM client, then mabye I would think about making the move. But for now since everyone is right where I am, I'm staying put.
  21. Well if anybody hasn't heard already, the next Grand Theft Auto (Grand Theft Auto IV) has been announced, and it will be out within the first six months of the Playstation 3 release, so sometime in mid 2007. Also, it will be released at the same time for both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, which hasn't happened before. Also, GTA: Vice City Stories will be out for the PSP and after that the Playstation 2 later this year.
  22. One big thing that will even out the competition between the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 is that Grand Theft Auto IV will be released at the same time for both systems. Before it's been that they were released a long time after they were out for the Playstation 2 so either way if you're in it for the next generation of Grand Theft Auto then you are in luck. MGS4 has me set toward the Playstation 3, although the price is horrible so I'll be forced to wait until the first or second price drop, but that depends on the size of the price drop, hopefully about $50 each drop.
  23. Well it's not like just one person dropped $430 just to smash an Xbox 360, it was a whole list of people who donated small amounts for a good laugh, or because the hate Xbox. And if it weren't for them then we wouldn't be able to laugh.Oh, and I don't know if this has already been said but to the guy who said that they bought a sledgehammer at Best Buy, if you would have watched the long version of the video you would have seen that they drove to Home Depot and bought one.
  24. The PS3 will be just as popular as the Xbox 360 was when it came out, i.e. people camping outside of stores for 3 days just to get one, PS3s on eBay going for $1500, etc.) and even though I personally believe the price on this thing is ridiculously high (I thought the Xbox 360 was high), there are people out there who are willing to pay the money, and there are also people out there who can't afford it but would sell their souls for one. I doubt the Halo 3 launch will have any impact whatsoever on the PS3's release, because the shelves will still be empty and people will still be waiting for days outside the store to be first. The PS3 has more features over the Xbox 360 though, for instance the 20 AND 60 GB harddrives, the CF card reader (60GB version only) the Blu-Ray discs, and the support for 8 controllers. But if I'm going to jump into this generation of gaming consoles it will probably be an Xbox 360 for me, or I'll be waiting for a year and a half for prices to go down for the PS3 like I did with the PS2.
  25. I never really thought about that, but it's a good question. Mabye it's an international event, because I know it's really big around here, especially since I live near Chicago and since the White Sox won (I could really care less, I'm a die-hard Cubs fan!!!) it's been nonstop around here. One thing that really upsets me is that now ever since they one, everyone, including the people who hate baseball or don't even care about it or watch it, automatically love the White Sox, and hate the Cubs for dropping the ball back in the 2003 NL Division against the Marlins. It wasn't their fault yet everyone insists that since the Sox won that they're better. I still haven't forgot about the day the Cubs lost, I hope the fan that ruined Moises Alou's catch in left field is happy... Try to grab the ball and that's what happens!
