  1. Thanks for the advice everyone...wordpress_lover, thanks for the offer as well...I compose a lot of music but my friend doesn't and he'd never accept charity but me and some of my other friends have been able to help his dad with a job search so we'll see what comes of that.
  2. Hm man that's a pretty bad situation you're in... and it is sad. But though you're starting to convince yourself otherwise, there are women out there who won't leave you and screw you over but will love you back. And even though you're fearing rejection by women, it's really nothing to worry about... there are plenty of fish in the sea and if she doesn't like you, hey, her loss, but you're never going to find someone if you give up trying! Try to meet someone at church, or at a club or sport you belong to, or whatever. And this situation with your friend's wife, you know it, it's a bad idea...you shouldn't treat her as a surrogate girlfriend just because you don't have one. It's not great for your interpersonal skills, and probably not the best thing for your friend's relationship either, even though they both sound like pretty trusting and chill people. You've recognized all the problems that are happening to you, so now it's time to do something about them.
  3. Hi,One of my best friends is in a really bad situation right now...his dad got laid off about six months ago and hasn't been able to find a job since, and money is quickly running out for them. It's causing a lot of problems at home and stuff and he's really worried about it and I don't like seeing him unhappy. I guess the job market is just pretty crappy right now, but I wish I could do something to help my friend and his family. Any comments or help would be appreciated.
  4. Haha it's true guys can be a pain... this coming from a guy But girls can too...I understand why you were so upset when you say your bf with his ex... But in a way that's not as bad as seeing him with someone else entirely... cause I guess there's always something there for past lovers regardless of how the breakup was. It was still his mistake though and I wouldn't let him forget it so easily just because you want to be with him so much...otherwise he might just do the same sort of thing again.
  5. My friends have a cat named Kitty! But the cat doesn't seem to mind. That's a cool black cat... I love cats cause they're independent and super cute but I've never been able to have one because everyone else in my family is allergic. :DWhen I move out maybe I'll get my own "Kitty."
  6. Though I think replacing with an upgrade is good enough in terms of customer service, I understand what saitunes is saying about customer service... I mean, when customer support fixes a problem I have I'm like "okay, that's good enough," but it really makes you feel good about the company and their services if they put in the extra effort to be kind and personal about it... I'd be happy with the upgrade but when someone is actually like, "wow we're really sorry for the mistake!!! let me fix that!" it makes me feel a lot better then when they don't even acknowledge the mistake and take the stance of "okay, whatever, what can I give you to get you to stop complaining?"
  7. I think people, whether they are religious or not, underestimate the power of prayer...and prayer is so much more powerful when it is done with others, because you're sharing the fellowship and acting towards common goals/ideas.
  8. I got a 360 as a gift, other then that I don't have anything...I occasionally play games with friends but I'm just not that much of a gamer
  9. I really like the shadows and the first picture of your dog. it's a very cute picture.quality's really tough with digital cameras, but I agree try to work on the sharpness of your pictures (I have horrible shaky hands when taking pictures so I know how hard this can be...)
  10. Haha I love chocolate, but of course, everything in moderation... Apparently, chocolate melts at right around body temperature which is part of why eating it is so pleasurable. Also, it causes a change in heart rate that is more dramatic and lasts longer than kissing so eating chocolate is like making out...but better.
  11. Yeah gas here is really cheap, but the US is definitely NOT the most polluting nation anymore, it's China. We use tons of oil and we still drive our inefficient, gas-guzzling SUVs, and most people here are super wasteful and feel entitled to the "right to be wasteful," (though this isn't always true, a lot of people here are also really environmentally friendly) but in terms of actual pollution China is way worse. 16 of the world's 20 most polluting cities are in China, in terms of CO2 emissions they have even passed the US, half of their population drinks from contaminated water, and dump millions of pounds of untreated sewage and toxic waste into their water supply every year. Their air pollution even blows over here. 15% of the air pollution in the US and Canada comes from China! I mean, the US, India, Brazil, and some other countries also produce a ton of pollution including air pollution, but at least we're doing something about it and not letting it contaminate global air. And it really isn't surprising that we burn so much gasoline and oil because, yeah, it really is cheap as compared to Europe and most of the rest of the developed world. And maybe as it gets more expensive we'll have better public transportation and drive less, and I really wish we had a public transportation system like most European nations do because it's a lot more convenient than driving. But I doubt anything is going to change while gas is "only" $4 a gallon. As of late the only real solution to the gas "crisis" that has been touted by the wonderful United States government has been corn based ethanol, which is unfriendlier to the environment than gasoline because of the amount of water and effect on the soil and the processing effects it has, but it also is contributing to world hunger. It takes as much corn to produce enough ethanol to fill a gas tank as it does to feed a person for a year. We can even see the effects of this now, with grain prices through the roof. Before all this corn-based ethanol hoopla, the number of starving people in the world was decreasing, something like there were projected to be fewer than half a million hungry people in the world by 2020. Now the number of people going hungry is increasing, and projections adjusted for corn-based ethanol say that over a billion people will be without regular food by 2020. High gas prices are not even really a problem yet and the US government is causing people to go hungry because we're convinced that we can't live with higher gas prices. Ultimately, there are a lot of better solutions to so called "peak oil," but we've chosen one of the worst here in the US. Maybe we should stop whining about "expensive oil" and instead look to an alternative which is cost-effective, sustainable, and better for the world's people. And there are plenty of better options available.
  12. Hi, I just tried posting a topic under the Web Design section, something like, "CMS for Video, Embedding Flash" and after I posted it, it wasn't there. It gave me credits for posting it I think, but when I tried to access it it gave me the error: The text of the post was: Thanks for the help!
  13. Hello,I was wondering if anyone knew of a good open source CMS that allows dynamically embedding flash videos such as those from youtube (needs to be able to embed flash with parameters), and also allows uploading any type of file to the main server. Thanks! =)
  14. I know a lot of blondes who are actually very smart, but I can totally see where the stereotype of the "dumb blonde stereotypes" come from. The truth is, people (especially women) seem to think that blonde hair is the most attractive form of hair. Now, I totally disagree with this, I think black or dark brown hair is a lot prettier, but this doesn't stop most everyone else from believing otherwise. Anyway, a lot of people dye their hair blonde for whatever reason...mostly they think it makes them prettier and they're insecure with their normal self so they feel they have to change something. These people are the dumb ones. Thing is, people like this who dye their hair blonde are usually the ones (in my experience) who follow all the blonde stereotypes, e.g. dumb, slutty, etc... And that's where the stereotypes come from. I once knew a girl who dyed her hair blonde, and she totally fit all the blonde stereotypes...then she dyed her hair brown and nothing else changed. That being said, I do see a lot of blondes who follow the so called "blonde stereotypes" but mostly these are the people who are the dye-their-hair-blonde types. Also, I see a lot of people who aren't blonde who behave the same way. So I guess judge people for their own person...you shouldn't be judged just based on your hair color.
  15. yeah, pride is an awful thing and it ends up doing more harm than good...I mean, it's okay to be like proud of your accomplishments or something, but when you begin to be overly prideful and appear arrogant to others, it just ends up coming back to bite you in the end. People always respect a humble person more than a prideful person.
  16. You know what, CDs sometimes annoy me too, but it's better than buying stuff on cassette tape . I mean, seriously, more portable, better sound, it can be easily digitized... I mean, sure, you can sit here and rant about CDs, but to me the inconveniences of them are far outweighed by the positives. At the end of the day, I buy CDs to listen to music, and I can clean off the stickers and stuff if I want to enjoy the artwork.I will agree though, the stickers bother me.
  17. ehe Twilight... I think there's no real use in telling someone that you hate them, if she's "dangling your friend in front of you trying to make you jealous" or whatever, even if you don't care, it shows that she's a jerk and she's trying to get that sort of response from you, in which case, you'll just make her be more of a jerk. I think the best thing you can do now is try to be good friends with your friend until this whole thing blows over and, hopefully, it will.I dunno, I'm not the kind of person who really hates other people, though I have had times when people who are really annoying just attach themselves to me or my group of friends and are always there and being rude even when they're not wanted and, telling them you hate them never helps the situation, so I don't think it's wise for you either... I mean, what would come out of such a decision anyways?
  18. Wow, I can't even begin to understand what you're going through, and I'm not really sure if there's anything I can say that will help you at this difficult time, but I think most importantly you shouldn't give up hope... My mother is a breast cancer survivor and is living proof that existing therapies, as well as prayer and a lot of love and support can cure cancer, so just keep hoping and praying that your friend will recover. I too believe in God but do not go to church, and one thing I firmly believe is that God doesn't send sickness on people and he doesn't cause ANYONE pain and he's not doing this to you. So keep praying. No matter what you (this is going for everyone out there) believe, or even if you think God doesn't exist, prayer can help to get you and others through hard times, and there's no down side...I hope that all goes well for you and your friend recovers.
  19. ditto litchy. The iphone is pretty nice, and it's cool to have something that does all the things it does, but it's super expensive, and nobody needs a phone that has all the different functionalities the iphone has. Keep your phone for calling and save the money or spend it on something else you'd enjoy more. Sure, the Iphone is great, but it really isn't worth the extra money considering most cell phones can do way more than just call anyway, and you've already got an ipod and stuff so you don't need to listen to music on your phone and stuff.
  20. Yeah, arrogant and smug people really piss me off too, especially if they have no reason to be. And if they do have a reason to be arrogant, then I still dislike them and think less of them for how they act. The good thing is, nobody else likes arrogant people especially other arrogant people so I guess they don't bother me as much when I realize that everyone else hates them as well.
  21. Yeah a lot of doctors are just clueless and it really annoys me, and also a lot of drugs that they prescribe they only do because they get kickbacks from drug companies. People always become doctors because they want to make a lot of money, but you should only be a doctor if you really want to help people, because that's the only way you're going to be a good doctor.
  22. Though I'm conservative... well, libertarian at least, which means I don't like a lot of stuff about the democratic party OR the republican party... well, anyway, I actually really wish John Edwards had gotten the nomination and I think he'd make a great vice-presidential running mate. In any case, at this point, who Obama chooses as his running mate is going to make or break him in this election. To understand this we have to look at things from a much broader perspective:The democratic party has for many years been composed of people who view themselves as politically oppressed or minorities-the poor, African Americans, women, etc... Traditionally they have selected as their presidential candidate a white, Christian man who tries to represent the views of all of these groups and ends up not being able to represent all the constituent parts of their party. So now, they had to choose their presidential candidate from someone representing one of their constituent groups, either Obama, representing the African American vote, Clinton, representing the woman's vote, and Edwards, who campaigned under the banner of seeking to help the poor. So no matter who they choose, they're going to end up alienating the rest of their party. Eventually, the race came down to betwen Obama and Hillary, and different sides of the Democratic party began to violently oppose each other, even though their respective cantidates' policies were very very similar, and if you asked a random person how the politics of Clinton and Obama differ, they probably wouldn't be able to tell you, they'd just be able to say "I just know Hillary's a witch."So, at this point, Obama has edged out a lead and Clinton has finally dropped out of the race. Now, Obama has alienated half the Democratic party, some to the point where they may even make the jump to voting Republican. Which is bad, because in the polls, McCain already has an edge over Obama.Which means... at this point, Obama needs to do all he can to reunite the Democratic party and, really, what that means he needs to do is he needs to have Hillary as his running mate, because then he'll have the female vote as well as the black vote. I know that's kind a base and cynical way of looking at it, but it's really the truth.
  23. That's pretty interesting... I guess orange foods are colored oftentimes colored orange because they have beta-carotene in them, which is really healthy for you, and that's probably why the rest of these are true as well... certain nutrients are certain colors or are contained in the different pigments in different foods. Thanks for the interesting read!
  24. Hm... in the first instance you talked about, I honestly can see why the guy would have been offended, because your comment could have been taken as being really sarcastic and, while maybe he shouldn't have been in that spot, it could have been some special situation, I dunno, I wasn't there. However, in the second situation, that was just ridiculous... I totally agree with you that lady should have exercised some control over her son I mean... that's just disgusting to do in public, especially with the restrooms so close.Ah well, people are crazy, the masses are @$$es...sometimes. Just gotta deal with it I guess.
  25. It's kinda a tough decision to know what to get, and I don't really know what to suggest, but no matter what you get her as long as you spend this much time thinking about it, it's gonna be special, so don't worry.
