Advertising question about me advertising
Spectre replied to Goosestaf's topic in Web Hosting Support
You can advertise Trap 17 in any way you want - whether it be with a text link, a banner, or anything else you can think of. Although it isn't actually required you do so, it is much appreciated. You can 'sell it' however you like as well - whether it be by mentioning the free or paid hosting, or saying that your site is powered by Trap 17, or anything else. -
*Thread moved.

Just a side note to remind you that the bandwidth on your account is limited - so if you use it all up, your site will not work at all, and there is nothing you can do except wait until the month rolls over and all bandwidth usage stats are reset. Or you can upgrade your package by posting more.So if you put relatively large files in your account and get quite a few downloads, it will be sucked dry pretty quickly.

This script is copied directly from PHPBuilder, and you haven't even given reference to the original author (presumedly Amita Jalla). *Thread closed. spyshow, consider yourself warned, and don't let this happen again. As I have said so many times before, plagiarism is not tolerated here.

This isn't actually a bad idea. It could be under a subdomain such as ranked.trap17.com or whatever.I'll discuss it with the root admin, and if he OKs it, I'll get on to setting it up right away.

I have found the official PHP site - php.net - to be an invaluable resource during my PHP programming days. It obviously contains all documents and reference to every function and statement there is, along with up-to-date information relating to PHP. They also include some examples with their function listings, as well as user comments. I think it's very useful.

Hey Does Anyone Know Why I Can Not View On My Cpu
Spectre replied to Se?or Maniac's topic in Science and Technology
What are your system specifications, and what are you trying to 'view'/run? -
All games are expected to have a couple of flaws - but the number of stuff-ups in DRIV3R is, in my opinion, just unacceptable in this day and age.The graphics are ok, but there are a lot of shortcomings. I don't like this game much, and would probobly give it a 4/10. I also think that it seems to be slightly copying the Grand Theft Auto series.

UNI.CC 'domains' are still considered domain names (even if it isn't technically correct), as they provide DNS services and act as a top-level domain name. You could use their redirection services with package 1, but not as an add-on or parked domain.

I think that this war will cause, to a certain extent, a state of apathy in many Western countries - namedly America, England, and Australia - as there were so many people that protested against going to war, who were simply pushed aside and ignored.I partially agree with dontmaimyourself - 'liberating' the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein's dictatorship did need doing, but I think that the whole operation was blundered. And seriously, how many people really believe that America's original intentions weren't solely based around oil?

I think it's only called 'football' in Europe. In the real world, we call it soccer :(Where I come from, football is a very different game involving heavy physical contact and a lot of handling of the ball.

I am itching for this baby to hit the market. Half-Life was a revolutionary game, so there is a lot riding on the shoulders of the sequal. I just hope it can live up to everyones expectations

This can be a pretty controversial topic. On one hand, it may seem perfectly legal to have no-CD patches for games you have lawfully purchased; but on the other, most end-user license agreements/EULA's or equivelant clearly state that the piece of software in question may not under any circumstances be in anyway reverse engineered, or otherwise modified - it is, after all, copyrighted content.I'm not giving the OK at this stage - wait for the root admin's opinion, and we can talk about it then.

Ugh, I must be tired. Because Xisto runs on a dedicated server, the only database and username prefix required is your site name (in this case scioper). I am getting this: But no connection errors directly from MySQL.

PHP is a server-side language only. What it returns to the user is HTML - not PHP. So no, you cannot use PHP within an iframe, as PHP cannot be called from within HTML (HTML, however, can be imbedded in PHP). You could easily create a frame from within PHP. For example: <?php[/br]echo "<iframe src=\"page.html\">";?> Or you could set the frame's source to be a PHP script ('src="script.php"').

Well done on reaching 500, Wassie - but don't forget that I've been 'away' for about 2-3 weeks :PPeace.

Out of curiosity, how do you know she plays on Battle.net? Did she just say 'here's my picture, that's who I am', or have you actually met her?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp Meeeee (with Php) I need somehelp on php
Spectre replied to nbop's topic in Websites and Web Designing
The script has to be parsed by the PHP engine - you can't just open it in an offline web browser as you can HTML files. Probobly the best option would be to get the Apache Web Server, and the PHP engine (which are both free) so that you can run scripts on your local machine. Alternatively, you can just upload them to whichever web server you are using (assuming it supports PHP - which Xisto does), but it is easier to test and debug them locally before uploading. -
A 'Google Bomb' is where a network of sites work to try and get a certain search phrase directed to one particular site. Examples of these include: miserable failure waffles end of the internet talentless hack And a host of others. It basically comes together by exploiting the way in which the Google search engine works. If you link to a certain site with some certain words, then when Google crawls your web page, it will use those words to point to the linked page rather than an actual URL. If enough sites do this, then the pages 'ranking' will rise in Google, until it eventually reaches the top. Clicking on the 'I'm feeling lucky' button on the Google web site takes you directly to the first result found, so only being on the top makes this really work. Putting together a Google Bomb here would involve a number of people who have their web sites crawled by Google putting a link on their web page, texted with whatever word or phrase gets decided upon. It will only make it to the top if everyone uses the same words and links. 'Google Bomb' is just the term made up by the person who originally figured out how to exploit Google in this manner. You can read more about it here (or by searching for 'talentless hack'). Google Bombs are in no way malicious (unless they are taking a stab at someone personally), nor are they illegal.

Order Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD I think you'll find that Microsoft delivers to pretty much every country that Windows is shipped to, including Australia.

Should I Put Adobe Photoshop Online? well.. do you guys want 7.0 for free?
Spectre replied to spawn_syxx9's topic in Software
Software piracy is illegal in all forms, and will not under any circumstances be tolerated here. It can only bring trouble to Trap 17, and we will obviously do anything within our power to avoid such an occurance - including banning members.spawn_syxx9, consider yourself warned, and don't let this happen again. Another incident may well end up with you being thrown out of Trap 17.I will be advising the root admin to thoroughly check your account for anything that is illegal (I do not have root access, so I can't do it personally).*Thread closed; poll deleted. -
I've had a couple of weeks away from Trap 17, as some of you may know. I'm back now, and it's good to be home :PIt seems we have a number of additions to the moderation team, and two new administrators. So welcome aboard to all of you. Also a big welcome to all the new members who have signed up in the past couple of weeks.Well, happy posting - and I plan to keep my Asteroids title

I was just wondering if Trap 17 members would be interested in working on creating a new 'Google Bomb'? If enough people join in, then it is very easy to do. We could work out what it would be and what it could lead too later, if enough people are interested. You don't have to be hosted with Trap 17 - you just need to have a web page that is crawled by Google. If your site isn't in their database, then you can get it added here. Let me know your thoughts.

I'm not 'running away' from anything. I don't think that I've been seriously offended by anyone here, and if I was, I like to think that I'm mature enough to get over it.I've got a lot on at the moment, and I don't really have enough spare time to look after the two forums successfully. Administrating and moderating a forum is more time consuming than some may imagine. And other than moderating, there isn't really a lot that I can contribute to the community anymore anyway. And Shackman, don't get too excited about the prospect of their being an admin position 'open' -Spectre.
