  1. wild20 - While the 10 Commandment say "Thou shalt not kill" God establishes penalties for those that DO kill. That penalty is that the same is to be done to the killer. See Exodus 21:22-25 and Leviticus 24:17- 21 and Deuteronomy 19:16-21 Please take note that CHRISTIANITY (a belief in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord) is predated by MANY religions. Jesus studied in the temples... what were temples doing there if there were no religions before Christianity? Why would God say "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" if there weren't religions that PREDATE His? Monotheistic religions were around long before Christianity, or even Judaism. While I respect your zeal, your FACTS are in error. On your claim that the Bible as we know it today is the INSPIRED WORD OF GOD: Have you ever had the opportunity to see a complete copy of the Geneva Bible? It predates the King James, and has 80 books, not 66. This was the Bible that came over on the Mayflower. It was the Bible of John Bunyan, author of Pilgrims Progress. Why is the INSPIRED WORD OF GOD missing books? Wouldn't God ensure it stayed intact? The Bible we have today is far from complete. Here comes faith again: we have to take it on faith that those OTHER books were not necessary. I am not saying I don't believe in God. I am saying I have a lot of questions about whether the God MAN teaches is the God we should be following. After all, isn't our relationship with God supposed to be a personal one? Weren't ministers supposed to spread the Word? Where in the Bible does it say they are supposed to TELL US WHAT TO BELIEVE? 2 Timothy tells us to "study to shew yourselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth". Looks like the final decision of how and what we believe is up to us, based on OUR UNIQUE UNDERSTANDING OF GOD.
  2. True2Earn - And your personal attacks make you superior? Don't make me laugh. I just find it amusing that most who don't support the death penalty hide behing the whole "God" thing. Accusing me of being a Satanist, or somehow mentally deficient, doesn't change the fact that man has ALWAYS been a violent race, so much so that God Himself wiped us off the face of the earth. I believe in God, but not in the " do as I say, not as I do" God that you seem to follow. But back to the topic of the death penalty. One of the main arguments against the death penalty is "rehabilitation". One thought on rehabilitation: If they spend the rest of their lives in prison, how do we know if it WORKED? Look at Charles Manson - Charlie was guilty of nothing more than being a good "evangelist". Others did his dirty work for him. But he remains in prison, never to leave. Been there for ages. Rehabilitated? Seen his TV interviews? FAR FROM IT!!! What has 'rehabilitation" done for Manson? NOTHING! He has been a burden on the taxpayers who support him for all this time, and we have nothing to show for all our hard-earned tax dollars but a guy who is crazier now than when he was locked up.Back to the God argument for a moment - did you miss these entries in God's law?Exodus 21:22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. Leviticus 24:17 And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.18 And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.19 And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him;20 Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.21 And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.Seems to me that God supports the death penalty, or at least He did when it came to Judaic law. Some may argue that the ministry of Jesus changed all that, but Jesus said He didn't come to change the law, but to fulfill it.In short, I am for the death penalty. I feel it is a double indignity to the families of the victims of these murderers to have to PAY for these people to live, in some cases better than the victims families live. While incarcerated, they make no useful contribution to society. Instead, they victimize society yet again by taking money that could be put to better use. Can you show ONE case of effective rehab? Someone who did the crime and was 'cured' by prison? I haven't found any yet. But I'll keep looking. In the meantime, I'll be grateful that people like Ted Bundy won't be getting out anytime soon to kill again.PS - My AMD and I thank you for the stimulating conversation!
  3. For the poster doing heavy graphics... Macs still rule the roost. But between AMD and Intel, I have used both, and my dualcore AMD x2 3800+ is the best by far I have used.
  4. True2Earn - Using God as an example? Wasn't it GOD who destroyed (murdered) nearly the entire HUMAN RACE because they SINNED? I seem to recall a great flood... Noah and his family survived, but most DIED. Is not MURDER a SIN according to God? So it's okay for God, but not for man, who is created in the IMAGE of God? Sounds a bit funny to me.Maybe we should take God's approach, and just destroy ALL sinners... somehow I don't think anyone's voting THAT into law!
  5. AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ dualcore, 1 gig of extreme DDR, 250 GB Western Digital, 2 Dual Layer DVD/CD combo drives, nVIDIA GeForce 6100 graphics card. Plain english - it SLAYS Intel!
  6. I run a Gateway with an AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual-core processor. MY best bud has the Intel Extreme Edition, which costs like 5 times what my AMD processor costs. But he comes to MY HOUSE to play his PC games, because the AMD kicks its butt. I also do heavy graphics, video editing, music production and more on my box... never had a problem. His Intel bogs down running Vegas 6. I have a gig of DDR, he has 2 gig of Corsair Extreme. Either I have the world's most abnormal AMD processor, or AMD is clearly spanking that Intel butt!
  7. In order for the death penalty to be reinstated, which I feel it SHOULD be, some changes need to be made:1. Grant ONE appeal. The convicted has 6 months to prepare his/her best case. If found guilty again, they get 1 month to get their affairs in order before they are executed. This saves the taxpayers HUGE amounts of money, as well as taking some of the burden off an already overtaxed court system.2. While in prison, provide only the basics: Food, shelter, clean clothing and baths. We as taxpayers should not pay for them to have cable TV, John Grisham novels or internet access. I will make an exception for internet access to research their appeal, but only under supervision.3. Use the money freed up by not paying $30,000 + a year per death row inmate to actually do some GOOD. Job training for low income and homeless, and for lesser offenders not responsible for KILLING SOMEONE, for example. Building more affordable housing. Small business loans. Food for OUR poor, not the poor in other countries who can't stop having kids long enough to find a way to feed themselves.4. Make it nationwide, not up to the states. One of the reasons the death penalty is so ineffective is that its use is not universal across the nation.Controversial? Sure. But how many survivors of these deviants would truly disagree?
  8. On meat eaters - Humans are NOT the top of the food chain. When we die, things eat US!On Republicans - etymology lesson - RE = to do again, i.e reapply, to apply again PUBLICAN = a tax collector. REPUBLICAN = to tax people over and over again. On SUV's - What real SPORTS require a SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE?On cults - we ALL belong to cults! You're on the Internet, following technology. Ever invited someone to join you in a chat room that had never been there before? CULTIST!!!P.S. - Please take note that my tongue is FIRMLY in my cheek here!
  9. I would suspect internal cabling and case temperature. It sounds like you are using a USB mouse, so the connection could be suspect. Case heat - caused by the fan issue - could be causing a lot of your problems as well, especially since you have a lot of RAM intensive components...DDR vid cards can produce a LOT of heat.
  10. Intel stronger and more stable? You want the three pretty purple Intel 64's I have on my desk? All of which caved like tinfoil under the weight of running webservers? Or would you like my AMD Athlon 64x2 dual-core, which is still pounding out quality service, even though its OLDER than the Intels that died? I am CRAZY about AMDs 64 bit processors...and their dual-cores are simply the best out there for the price.
  11. I am a Mortgage Specialist for a Mortgage Brokerage in Massachusetts. I help people with less than perfect credit purchase or refinance their homes. Exciting, huh?
  12. Maybe I missed it, but I can't believe Firefox Browser isn't on the list... an excellent IE replacement, especially when combined with FireTune for your specific OS. I hardly use IE anymore, unless I an testing a website design.
  13. Personally, I prefer Agnitum's Outpost Firewall. The free version is excellent. It has a little more of a learning curve than ZoneAlarm, but it gives you a LOT more control of access. I have been using it for over a year, and can honestly say its the best free firewall I've ever used.
  14. As far as animal rights are concerned, I look at it this way:If whatever Higher Power you worship had not meant for man to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of MEAT!
