  1. Everything is God, if most people's definition is to be believed. God is, depending on who you ask, a 'supreme being' a 'higher power' or a 'higher form'. Man is a 'higher form' than an ape, therefore to the ape man is God. Also, God, being the Creator of man, made man in His image. God breathed life into man, so man has a part of God within. The Bible says He gave us power to become the sons of God. Jesus is the son of God - yet Jesus IS God if you follow that theology. Therefore, we are ALL God.
  2. Many of the most unique contributions to our society have come from people who have exhibited very little of what some would call 'common sense'. Think about this: 50 years ago a guy is sitting around thinking "wouldn't it be keen if I could put some stuff in a box and make it think, and...oh yeah, find a way I could use wires to set it up so I could talk to millions of people all over the world...and lets throw a huge database of information together that anyone can use!' I'll bet t lot of people thought that was a silly idea too...but you're sitting at the result, surfing the web.Let's not mistake thinking outside the box for a lack of common sense. To my way of thinking, a lack of common sense is a lot more evident in people like drunk drivers. 'Hey, I got drunk and crashed my car. LETS DO IT AGAIN!!!'
  3. Let's answer this by asking one simple question: did the Iraqis request our aid? The simple answer to that question is no. We are in Iraq for two reasons. The first and most obvious reason is oil. The second is the 'superman complex' of George W. Bush. Saddam has not been in power for what, two years? Three? What has really changed? As soon as we pull out of Iraq some other madman will take his place, and the Iraqis will be right back where they started. The Iraq war is nothing more than political posturing by a lame duck president who needed something to boost his poll scores. I feel bad for our troops over there who have no choice but to fulfill their orders. When will America stop trying to be the saviour of the world, and start fixing whats wrong in our OWN country? We can spend billions whipping a little democracy ( and our huge war machine) on some other country, while we have people sleeping on the ground just scant feet from the White House. We send millions into these war-torn (by us, in many cases) countries to help them feed themselves and repair all the damage, while we have children starving in our own backyards. I think we need to take care of our own before we try to fix everyone else.
  4. It has been said that a good man, turning his addicted friend over to a counselor, is somehow not good because his friend goes to prison, which ruins the friend's life. But hasn't the friend ALREADY ruined his life? The addict is already a slave to the drugs, so his freedom is a moot point. Most addicts perform poorly in a work environment, so his job is of little consequence.Ask yourself this: If the friend kicks the drugs in prison, and learns coping skills to keep him from turning back to drugs, did not the 'good man' IMPROVE his life, even if the method seems extreme?A 'good man' weighs the outcome against the method, and if the outcome is an improvement, sees that perhaps the method is a necessity.
  5. Life is what happens while we're waiting around to die.
  6. Neither - I like Greek Style pizza better than either of them.As for toppings - chopped linguica and pepperoni
  7. took me over a half hour to figure out... my girlfriend is screaming at me..."Tell me the ANSWER!!! too funny!
  8. Microsoft Windows Bill Gates Edition = Mac OSX
  9. While I can understand the logic behind it, I do not support the practice of strip search in schools. I mean, let's be honest. What are the chances that some school kid is going to be key to breaking some international drug cartel? Most would, at the most, have a few pills or some of mom and dad's weed. Not saying that its right, but let's look at the end result - kid gets a slap on the wrist for juvenile possession. Meanwhile, innocent kids get humiliated. Parents sue the schools. The schools spend money defending their actions that could better be spent EDUCATING our kids. The police get a bad rap for being 'the bad guys' after the parents spend much of a kid's childhood telling them the cops are the good guys. And for what? A few pills or a joint? Use the dogs if you want, search lockers by all means - but keep the kids dressed. There is such a thing as taking things too far.
  10. Many of the free chats are problematic. I have tried X7 Chat, MyChat, and I don't know how many other free chats. They are usually fine for 4 or 5 users, but lag like crazy and refresh constantly when you get past that. Flash Chat and AmfiChat I have seen handle many more users with far less issues. If you are running a pro site, its worth the five bucks.
  11. I use primarily Firefox and IE. I use Opera sometimes. I have been hearing quite a bit about Maxthon, but have yet to try it. What do users of this browser see in it? What makes it unique, I guess is my question? Any feedback is welcome.
  12. Either the Bible is ALL right, or it is not the work of a PERFECT GOD. By saying the Bible is 2/5 reliable, you take the position that SOME of the Bible is wrong. You have offered NO BIBLICAL PROOF. I can produce SCRIPTURES to support any argument. But you still have not shown me anything to support Biblical opposition to abortion. And since the Bible is the WORD OF GOD, you have not shown that God is against it. You can claim your 'proof' still stands until you're blue in the face, that doesn't make it so. Perhaps you should come up with some RELIABLE proof, or rethink your debate. Because you're clearly grasping at straws.
  13. The works of Anton LaVey aren't in the Bible either...because they were not intended to be...just as your 'Apocalypse of Peter' was not intended to be. But I am shocked to see you express disbelief in the INSPIRED WORD OF GOD. If the Bible is only 2/5ths reliable, then it could not have come from God, who is perfect, and 'wrote' the Bible through His Divine inspiration. By claiming the Bible is only 2/5ths reliable, you call the entire Bible a lie. Either it is all true, or it is all a lie. You can't have it both ways. No true Christian would doubt the truth of the Bible as you have. We are also instructed not to add or take away from the words of the Bible, as you have attempted to do here. You only succeed in proving my point...that there is NO BIBLICAL SUPPORT for abortion, in and of itself, being wrong. You can try to fall back on the 'murder is murder' defense, but then you would need to have conclusive proof of when 'life' begins, and that takes us into the realm of science, not the Bible.I still await proof. So far I have speculation, questionable evidence, and excuses.
  14. From a link off your own link: Sorry, but none of MY Bibles mention the book 'Apocalypse of Peter'... I'm not aware of any that do. It's not even in the Geneva, which is widely regarded as the most complete translation. So the best you can do is a passage from a book which cannot even be verified to be part of the Bible? Last I checked, all of my references were from ACCEPTED TRANSLATIONS. You're reaching, my friend. Try again. And have STILL yet to prove, since the reference you make is not even FROM the Bible, but from an unverified manuscript of dubious origin. Even the website it was quoted on only gives its reliability a 2 of a possible 5. Come on, surely you can do better than this?
  15. Thanks for the advice, rejected! I wasn't aware of the affliate program. I have seen AmfiChat too, and it does work very well.
  16. Okay truefusion, then POST the Scriptures that speak SPECIFICALLY about the wrongness of abortion. As I recall, you were against the death penalty as well, even though I provided Scripture that shows Judaic law SUPPORTS it. Your turn to make your case Scripturally here, as I did on the death penalty debate.Saying that the Bible speaks out against abortion is one thing, PROVING it is what's required of you. As for my ignorance of the Word, that is something you have yet to prove. But I think my college professors might disagree, as they saw fit to issue me a Doctorate of Divinity!Ball's in your court!~
  17. Gondero - I have used AMD since the supposedly 'doomed' k62 450 with its 'heat issues' (never had one, and ran that box for 6 years) I DEFY you to find a current Intel processor that will outcrunch my AMD. My computer at work runs dual Xeon 800's. While it was in the shop a while back I took in my home machine, which uses an Athlon 64 x2 3800+. Result? Our office is moving to new machines with AMD dualcores. Intel CANNOT compete at any price point with the current AMD line. Oh, BTW - I am a mortgage broker, so I crunch hard math and use a ton of spreadsheets and other 'pure applications'.
  18. How quickly we forget that bin Laden was trained by the USA? Put in place by the CIA. Funded by our tax dollars. That his family and the Bushes go waaaaaay back.If you want my opinion, bin Laden is a scapegoat. 9-11 was engineered by George W Bush. Did anyone REALLY pay attention to the news reports? Really WATCH the videos? Hear the firefighters and many eyewitnesses say they heard 'timed explosions' in the towers? Notice that the plane that hit the Pentagon, which had to be mere INCHES off the ground, didn't touch a single blade of grass? That same plane flew over cars at an altitude of less than fifty feet, yet the jetwash didn't blow cars off the road! Folks, there was no evidence of a plane hitting the Pentagon. There was no evidence of a plane crash in Pennsylvania. The so-called 'war on terror' is nothing more than a way to rally America behind a President who STOLE the White House. Americans rally behind a wartime President, especially when our own country is attacked. Look at Pearl Harbor. How quick did we get involved once they bombed it?The war is over - if we want it? Bullcookies! Most of us never wanted it in the first place!
  19. Isn't it interesting that so often, the debate on abortion comes down to what GOD says. God gave us free will... the right to choose. So it would seem to me that in order to remain consistent, God must be Pro-Choice. Anything less and He becomes a tyrannical dictator, forcing His will upon us. Clearly God created man with free will, the right to choose. So can we PLEASE stop with the "GOD SAYS" garbage, and admit the truth - that WE either see it as murder or not. Stop blaming God for your interpretation of the Bible. There are ZERO references to abortion in the Bible, and anyone who says there are is twisting things WAY out of context. If, as the Bible teaches, God is all-knowing, he HAD to see the abortion issue coming. Why DIDN'T He address it in His word? He addressed such inane things as how to prepare animals as food, but not one word on abortion. HMMMM.
  20. I have personally witnessed apparitions, and have recorded EVPs, both on digital recorders and on tape. I use external mics on the tape machines - if you have ever pressed record on one in a quiet room with the built in mic you'll know why... you can hear every little motor and squeak. External mics make it much more likely that what you're hearing is actually there, and not the recorder making noise. In most EVP recording sessions I ask questions. You would be surprised how often you get answers to just the questions you ask. I did one session in an old schoolhouse in North Carolina. Part of the school had burned, and some students died. They later rebuilt an annex on the land where the fire had happened, and almost from the beginning had some strange occurences there. While recording, I asked "What can you tell me about the annex?" Later while playing back the tape, I heard two different voices. One said "they built it later" and another said "smell the smoke...smell the death"I made notes of what I thought I heard. A few days later I played the EVPs for a few friends, and asked them to write down what THEY heard. Their answers were identical to mine.
  21. I too work in the mortgage industry, as a broker for a company licensed in 11 states. Not only is the money very good, I personally get a sense of personal satisfaction by helping people get into their new home when they didn't qualify somewhere else. I also have a great system to generate leads by working in the For Sale By Owner market!
  22. A friend of mine has Flash Chat on his website, and it performs admirably. I plan to get it for another site I designed for some friends. I have seen Flash Chat handle as many as 40 chatters without a single problem.
  23. Silly question, but stimulating nonetheless:If evolution is caused by changes in environment, as some theorize, then why aren't caged apes evolving into men so they can make tools to get out?Tongue firmly in cheek here, folks!
  24. What is suspect is not the reality of God, but our interpretation of God. Our understanding of God is meant to be one-on-one, personal. It is when we begin sharing our perception of God with others that the differences manifest themselves.Religion's biggest fault is that it attempts to TELL us how to believe. A true relationship with God, one based on Scriptural teachings, regardless of the Scripture consulted, is meant to be a relationship of guided SELF-DISCOVERY. It is only when we attempt to put the personal relationship of another into our own box that problems arise.
