  1. It depends I think on how strong the light is, or the strength of the light source because eventually the light would reflect so much it wouldn't be able to go on I'd imagine. I don't know much about the physics of lights myself but that I believe to be a reasonable assumption. What I'm more interested is standing in such a room. One made up completly of mirrors on all sides. That would be crazy to stand in and look around in because everything would look like one big tunnel in all directions it would make your head hurt most definitly.MIB had the idea right when they made a room completly white so it looked like it had no walls or end.
  2. That is a nice render if I have to say so, but it kind of looks like a Counter Strike Render because of the guys face and position with his gun. I don't doubt it's from Battlefield 2 but others may be mistaken because so many Counter Strike renders look similar to that one.
  3. See that is really the original point to those kinds of creations. They use those kinds of displays a lot in planetary simulators and research right now. As far as use in other fields go, that's climbing but is not popular as we speak but it will be eventually I believe. I've actually seen a documentray on the Science Channel that used one of these things they did research in astrophysics and astrobiology trying to find other planets the could sustain life. They used computers and such to build specific planetary conditions to see if those kinds of conditions could hold life as we know it. Overall thios technology has great promise in the scientific world, and I think possibly the gaming industry later in the future as well.
  4. But on the market today are Freon Cooling system for home PC's and such. Pretty much that turns your computer into a mobile refridgerator. What if that technology could be made many times bigger?Because the problem I see with Parallel computing is the time it takes to transfer operations from computer from computer. No matter how fast computers are networked when working with an hardware intense application the time it takes transferring data from computer to computer will add up over time. When everything is condensed into one big computer most of that time will eliminated because all of the memory and power needed to run the application is all local and needs no calls to other functions. It's like in C++ when you use an object heavy program or a function heavy program, it takes longer to run than a program that is simply coded into the Main() function. Because of the time it takes in the procoesser to call each individual function.
  5. But ruling by simple facts is actually worse than ruling with emotions when it comes to humans really. Because a human ruling with emotion can be compassionate and be very lenient even if an offender does something multiple times. But with ruling by facts alone you could have someone put to death for commiting a semi minor crime.Take the move IRobot. I know it is bad to use a movie as a reference since all movies revolving around this subject are entirly fiction, but the idea remains in my mind when you said to rule by facts. The robots in that movie were kiling off humans because they were programmed to protect humans at all costs. They could think feel, everything but they were governed by factual data not really emotions. Then ending realization was that the central AI for all the robots was actually trying to protect the humans by killing them all off. This sounds contradictory but think about what do to our bodies by smoking, drug use, food, all the things bad we do, and especially to the environment. We humans kill ourselves and the robots were trying to protect from ourselves. That is the problem of ruling by facts with a computer because computers can only do what we tell them to do. And if we say rule by strict facts then that is what they do regardless of circumstances. You would need emotion to be any kind of lenient and AI with emotion is bad news.
  6. If anyone has seen the movie I'm referring to then you realize how good of an idea it really was in the first place. In the movie a conventional car that a normal person would drive down the road today was transformed so that if you put garbage and other misc items similar to food and such into the energy drive in the car it would use a sort of fusion to create a bunch of energy to power to car. Adn the poof energy from things you were originally going to thorw away anyway, so why not use it for your car?I was seriously thinking about the concept the other day and I can't think of a good way to implement that idea yet because I'm not sure if the science needed for the operation could be contained safely in a small area like that. What do you guys think?
  7. The way I see it is that people have a choice, to eat or not to eat. Obviously they are going to choose to eat but they don't have to choose Mcdonalds now do they? This is somewhat off topic but dealing with the same issue. I read an article awhile back about an organization along with 2 parents sueing Nickelodian (the kids tv network) and Kellog's food for making kids fat because they advertise junk food so much during the time when kids are watching TV. But really it is the parents fault for going out and buying the junk food in the first place. If the parents would say no then bad things would not happen in the first place. So when people go to McDonalds and buy a bunch of junk food and then complain about getting fat they are just trying to overlook the fact saying they have a problem.
  8. My rating is an 8/10. The BG is pretty amazing in my opinion I like what you did with the lighting behind the render it looks very sleek and stylish. But what got the 8 was the render itself. I think the lighting on it is kind thrown together so it doesn't blend well with the the style of the BG. The text at the bottom prolly should have had some anti-aliasing done to it.But nice job on the BG do more like that!
  9. Well I was thinking along the lines of an intelligent NPC in an MMORPG. When I think about AI whatI envision most about it is "The World" from the dotHack anime series and game series. I would rather put AI to use a in a game rather than make robots that will eventually kill us all >_<.Because what would need done is to make an entire world full of intelligent object to represent the environment and other interactive characters that aren't just scripted. Kind of like what they tried to do with EverQuest 2 and more intelligent monsters.
  10. Yeah is kind of a lot of money and all bt it definitly seemsworthall thatmoneyfor some thing as cool as a free space projector thing. I'd buy it if i had the money.
  11. (SRAM)Static RAM is a type of RAM that holds its data without external refresh, for as long as power is supplied to the circuit. This is contrasted to dynamic RAM (DRAM), which must be refreshed many times per second in order to hold its data contents. So actually SRAM has no bus speed because it requires no refresh, you could say that SRAM has an infinite BUS speed. The only problem is that SRAM is bigger than DRAM (DDR, SDRAM, etc.) But SRAM is similar to CPU in that it is made up a bunch of little transistors, in the millions normally. And again you have to pay byte for byte with this RAM so you et what you pay for, but if you wanted just 32MB of SRAM you'd have to work probably a few years to get it payed for.
  12. When I'm making my own images yes, I tend not to like bigger signature images because I can do a lot with banner sized ones. But when making signatures for anyone else I just do what they want.
  13. That's one of the reason's I love my Xbox so much. I can't wait until I get a mine modded. Because some of te more advanced mods you can get even change the whole User Interface of the Xbox itself. I've seen one of te better modchips on the market in action and it mkaes your Xbox look like it's from some computer movie where things look better than they should.Plus I have the Halo Edition Xbox to make all the better.
  14. See my idea of a good super computer died a long time ago when people decided the best way to build a super computer was to grid network hundreds of computers together into one all amazing one but I still believe that the best way to build a super computer is to make a giant computer.See the ram inside your CPU (The L2 cache) is THE best RAM that is produced in the world. It is so exspensive to make that's why you only get 1MB or 2MB of it in the processor, (that and you can't hold a lot more without making the chip bigger.) If you could get a nice 64bit Motherboard and run like 8GB of that RAM in a 64bit OS with an Intel Itanium 2 processor, you would be astounded at how unbelievably fast that computer could work. And that's only with 8GB of RAM think about having the the full amount of RAM a 64bit Operation System could handle? And that's using a conventional OS as well, Real Super Computers don't use Windows...
  15. As far as AI goes, think of what a hacker could do to a computer system with a strong AI under his control? How easy do you think it would be to tear down the great wall shielding the DoD from hackers and run this country into the ground in a second. See a normal hacker it would take a long time to run a bunch of number even with a bunch of fancy programs and then they'd have to think of what to do next. With an AI helping them the AI can run all those number pretty much simultaneously and then tell the hack what to do to get around the next hole. AI is something I plan on researching when I become a professor but not for anything a robot or anything. I say we need to keep strict watch on anyone and everyone that uses AI.
  16. Well it's also been documented (via Tom's Hardware) that the two have one distinct difference that is interesting and that is Start Up and long term performance. It's been shown that when you start up your computer with an AMD CPU your computer tends to work really well, speed wise, a the beginning and the longer you leave the computer running without turning off the lower quality performance you get from your CPU. But with Intel it's just the opposite, you start up your computer and it works kind of crappy like for a little while until you leave it on for awhile and it's performance gets better. Now obviously it's not a huge difference in quality or it's be everywhere in the news and stuff. But there is a difference.
  17. Lots of people say a lot of things about AMD vs. Intel. And personally most of the time the testimonies are completly biased one way or another. AMD has the better Video Game performance like most gamers will tell you. But when it comes to pure application speed Intel can beat an AMD chip with one hand behind it's back.Intel chip have a longer pipeline in the core, which is why they have such higher clock speed than AMD, these pipelines help make programs excel and stuff work a lot better because it doesn't have to continually dump information and pick it back up. AMD has those short pipelines which makes dropping info off and picking it up again easier. But many times Intel chips are hotter because of the higher clock speeds.
  18. Wow simply Wow. That is an amazing piece of technology. I wonder how much one of those things cost because I didn't know they had those kinds of things on the consumer market at all. I've always wanted one of those too. If it can be hooked up to Tv tuners and stuff I wonder If I could play DDR with the thing, that would cool to have arrows floating in the air.
  19. You know I have somewhat of a problem with Apple and their IPods. Actually the complaint might be better made towards the consumers themselves. I know a few people at school who have 3 IPods, one of the originals with a 2GB hard drive. Then they had to go out and buy a new one when they came out with 40GB hard drive. Then they had to buy a Nano. What is the point in having 3 or more IPods? If you buy one why do you need another one exactly? But as far as an IPod goes I would rather just buy an MP3 player I can handle 1GB of music for 2/3 the price of an IPod.
  20. You know I can't wait for the Blu-Ray technology to come out on the market. I think that has to be one of the most innovative things to hit computers in a long time. Such storage space on something is amazing. But if they keep pushing it back for too long they might lose all hope of selling the item at all.I mean Microsoft decided to go with HD-DVD instead of Blu-Ray, so that means BAM, Blu-Ray drives will not be back by MS and that could be, could be, bad for Sony or it might not depending on how companies decided to market their items.
  21. See to me that program looks like it can be great after you work through the thick skin. Meaning it has a lot of power but it takes some specialized knowledge of the program itself to use all that power. But it probably has many limitations to it much like RPG Maker does.
  22. I've been interested in the idea of working with AI later on in my career when I actually get the resources to do so (After college is finished). Does anyone here already know how to program basic AI that might be able to help get me started?
  23. Honestly that render makes Shadow look like he is an action figure in the image. Does that particular image happen to be of an action figure? I like it nonetheless, bring more sonic to the world.
  24. Since I'm not an established artist around here in any way, I figured the best way to break in would be to show what I've done up til now. I've been in the gfx scene for a couple years now I haven't done anything recently at all but I'm hoping to jump back into the mix. All my sigs are in links so people who might have slower internet could still view the thread and not die >_<. 3d Vortex Angry Clouds The Blood Blue Enlightenment Data Intake Dark Chapel Evil Machine <-- My favorite, made completly of stock filters no brushing or anything at all. Firey Depths Ocean Depths Fractilian Fission Warriors Fission Warriors 2.0 Movement of the Gel Moving Clouds <-- Second favorite SOLDIER Virus
