Well, having in mind all that Microsoft has accomplished, and even if Google creates an improved version of their products/ideas, Microsoft could just counter-attack adding those new functionalities. After all, it was Microsoft who had the original idea and all the hard work, so it wouldn't be so hard to add whichever features the competition offers.

When my friend was smoking, I noticed he had a littletouch of style handling the cigarette. I don't know if he really started smoking due to the girl or if he missed the feeling he had when he was 13. (He told me he smoked for a week when he was 13 and said he didn't like it) But I certainly didn't smoke to be cool or anything like that. Now I really understand why some people start smoking due to relations. I understand how they feel, and if they felt like me the time they started smoking, then I understand them really well. I was totally against smoking, I couldn't even stand for the smell, and to the extent of feeling like smoking.. that's a great change. I repeat, during the easter vacations, when I was thinking my friend wasn't smoking, I really didn't have that feel of wanting to smoke, but if something happened, like finding out he afterwards had been smoking every single day during easter (yes he confessed it to me), only makes me feel worse. But then there is another thing, like he said to me he hadn't told me about it so I wouldn' be upset. I was happy when he said that, but I was also very upset. Well that's how life goes and all we can do is live it. I still haven't quit to be his best friend, he's a very special person. It's almost like love, but it's a special kind of love, called friendship. One thing I tell you, If you haven't got any friends, then you've got nothing. And there are some people that can only understand that when they go through something similar. Sorry for my english too. (if there are any errors of course), and thanks for replying.

(Just to clear things up, I'm a male) Let's put it this way. I have this friend since I was 5 and he has been my best friend until now. Well, at least we were never angry with each other. (let's call him friend A) A year ago, we went to another school. Every school I went I always find the best/nicest persons to form my group and I always hang out with them. But in the new school, only my longtime friend came with me. And with time, everyone was starting to form groups. I naturally and instinctly picked this foreign guy to be friends with. (let's call him friend B) At the presentation of the class, I always seen him alone, and I thought "it must be hard, arriving at a new school, not knowing nobody and being an immigrant". He looked excluded, and I felt I was doing the right thing trying to be friends with him. The thing is that the time I met this friend 'B' my life changed forever. We were becoming so good friends that I almost forgot about friend 'A' and always wanted to hang with friend 'B'. He was funny, cool and respectful. Everything was going well until he had this crush for a girl, that btw it was an immigrant too. 4 months after I met him, at the time when he had that crush, he actually talked to her and she told him her intentions. She said she already had a boyfriend and she didn't want to have any relations with nobody else. That's when he started smoking. I even remember the exact time: 12th of January, 2006, 08:03. When he said "I have to tell you something. From now on I'm going to start smoking", I felt horrible. It was the worst feeling I had in my entire life. You can't even imagine how it is to work so hard in a relation with a new friend to see a thing like that to happen. And that feeling only felt worst when, the same day, I saw him putting a cigarette in his mouth and lighting it. I stood still in front of him with friend 'A' by my side acting like nothing happened. I tried to help him everyway I coud for an entire month, and I knew he realised that I was really worried, but it was just too hard for him to do that favor to me. That's when I couldn't stand it anymore and told him if he would not stop, I woud start smoking too. He didn't believe it and after a week I smoke a cigarette for the first time in my life. The next week, I started smoking at school and I noticed his face when he saw me for the first time lighting a cigarette. I thought he would realise how I felt like when he started smoking. I smoke for 3 months and a lot of thing happened. I won't go into much detail, but I will only refer that lately, wen we started some conversation by sms, it ended with him calling me something mean and cursing and saying it was my fault for this and that. He also said that after what I did to him (started smoking), he would not be my friend anymore. But I told him that everything I 'done' to him he had already done to me too, only that I forgive him for everything. One of the things that hurt me the most was the fact that we promised each other not to smoke during easter, and I was happy about that. I didn't think about smoking anymore. Until the day we came back to school and I noticed he smelled tobacco. I felt really bad again and re-started smoking. Everything he called me, I haven't called him back. Everything that he said that really hurt my feelings, haven't caused me to try to hurt his feelings too. I just stopped talking to him and do as he asked. I didn't want to make things worse. And another thing is that friend 'A' chose to hang out with friend 'B' and I don't talk to him neither. I simply don't talk to anyone. I have hope that the next school year we can start all over again, and just yesterday he finally talked to me again and he managed to say he didn't mean the things he had called me and that he was pissed off then. I feel this may be my oportunity to reconstruct my friedship. As I realised, and many cannot understand, friendship can be as hard as love, and can hurt even more. When you want to be the best friend of someone at all costs, you only want to protect him and make him happy, despite anything that may go wrong. Please give your oppinion about this episode of my life, that was certainly the most intense year I have had. Please comment my friend's (B ) attitude towards me and mine towards him. Thanks for listening

Windows Vista: The Next Os? Will it be?
Radioactive replied to wild20's topic in Science and Technology
I tried the first beta of Windows Longhorn (as it was called at the time) and I liked it pretty much. Specially the new windows explorer improvements. But the beta I tried was only good to evaluate its visual components, because when I wanted to try to install any application, it wasn't compatible. But I believe that with the recently released beta 2 it will have more compatibility when installyng applications. By the way, I heard Windows Vista Beta 2 is not available to the general public yet, but the Beta 2 of Office 2007 can be downloaded here (Official Microsoft Site). There are people who think this new version of Microsoft Windows is not going to be what was expected, or that it hasn't all the funcionalities announced, but only those who understand the real core improvements that were made (related to programming), and not only the interface or visual improvements as the majority of people thing, can see the real potencial of the new OS. -

No, thanks. I was just asking for curiosity.By the way, when you talked about the ads I just looked at them and I keep seeing the "Your Ad Here" message all the time. This isn't the first time, and it shows on the three ads along the page.I don't know if it is normal to display that message so many times, and occupying all the three ads, or if it is something wrong with adsense..? -

Yes, I totally agree with you too. A long time ago I just learned all about algorythms at school and by now I have sufficient programming knowledge to be aware of crackers' tools and intentions, how they can crack something, etc.. But I actually haven't cracked anything yet, either because I have no need to crack something, or if I had, it would have to be something illegal, and I usually don't do illegal things, lol..Yes, a cracker must be smart enough to be able to follow and detect an algorythm's steps, in order to understand it and then find a way to begin cracking it to achieve a certain objective, that in this case, is adapting the casino's script algorythm to give the cracker more chances of winning, for example.By the way, who made this program, Estupido or another cracker?Just wondering.. -
I never cheated in a game, not even in real life:), and one day I was playing counter-strike too and that day I had quite an above-the-normal luck in that round and I head-shot almost all of the other team (it feels good when luck comes to you doesn't it?), when I was accused of cheating. At first I even had quite a laugh about that, because I had never cheated before, and was quite funny being accused of doing so. But later, everyone was against me, so I had to start letting myself get killed by someone so the others could see that "someone actually killed me" at the corner of the screen, and reduce their tempers a little bit. It's an unfortunate situation but once you get used to it.. The best is to ignore.

Lyon2, in fact I haven't seen "Las Vegas" series, but I know casinos always fear when someone is having a lot of luck, and that is dangerous for the casino. But playing online is another different thing. We don't trust the laws of physics for the roulette (for eg.) when we play it online, like we would do in a real casino (and with some luck too of course).I don't say that is fake, but I'm not interested enough to make a full statement about the veracity of the program. And I know online casino games have to function by some kind of programming and scripts, but in my opinion, I don't like trusting scripts when my money is at stake. Specially when we do not really know what is really happening behind the scenes. Our only interface is the monitor, so we only see what is shown to us. No one can be sure if is being cheated by the own casino, or the other people using some kind of cheating strategy (possibly like the program presented in this topic). But it is just my opinion, and it sould not be taken seriously enough to start a debate. But thanks to Estupido anyway for lettin us know (for the ones interested, try it if you want) -
You could easily use a phrase as a password, and to include numbers in it, use any number as a space (like "this0is0the0safest0password0in0the0world0hurray"). This yaw you wouldn't forget it. Of course you could use a gigantic phrase but I don't know if that is even possible to store in the passwords database..Other type of password that can be used is the "numb3r5_4nd_l3773rs" type.Or you can even type a backwards phrase, so the dictionaries wouldn't be able to guess them (like "nac uoy fi em kcah ot yrt")

Here is my opinion: I don't believe it, then, I won't try it. If you got rich because of that, then congratulations, you are a lucky person, and you must be happier than half of the world right now. If you feel that sharing that program is right, then I at least aknowledge your effort to make more people happy.By the way, casinos don't regenerate money. If everyone were using this and actually had won a lot of money out of it, then the casino would go bye-bye.Bottom line, If you want to play poker and win big bucks, go to a real casino and trust your own luck, it's funnier that way. -
I don't think I have to worry about a DoS attack on my site, because it is not globally known or anything. I can only expect attacks from people really angry with me:), but other than that, I may be ok.I never tried to do a DoS attack on any website I hated (besides being illegal), but one time I felt really tempted to do it on one lame site that was my competitor at that time. Of course I left it alone, because it was hosted with my isp..Do you think it would be possible to provoke such a heavy load to a server that it could even physically damage some component?

What Is A Chupacabra? Very Interesting.
Radioactive replied to AmandaB78's topic in General Discussion
Poor goats.. An article about how Chupacabras work can be found at howstuffworks.com. This site has the most strange and unusual (aswell as usual) articles about how things work, and they even considered the Chupacabra to be one of their articles (it must be famous!) so check it out. You'll see the image looks very different from the one in this topic . -
Yes ! affcourse.....Not!I rather upgrade my isp with $5 more per month or buy some service over the internet. But if I had to pay, then google had to be REALLY good, and I mean, offering way more than mere search services and other addicional services and programs. Something that were useful to me.

Well, games are evolving, and eventually they will become as realistic as they can get. The main point of realism besides immersing the player, is to allow us to do things that wo normally couldn't or weren't allowed to do in real life, with the bonus of being like it is real life. For example, one recent game with almost realistic graphics like Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter allows us to fight with some advanced weaponry and technology that do not exist these days and will exist in the future. In the real world, we would never start a war on purpose to experience how it feels. This way, we can experience the fight without the harm of hurting ourselves, thus making us feel secure, and actually enjoying the experience. This is why war and shooting games can be enjoyed, because if we could realy hurt ourselves, we would think everything except being fun.Imagine a life simulation game so real as the own reality, where we were able to do all our daily activities like eating, working, sleeping, earning money, every aspect possible (of course I can't name them all but you get the point). The main difference between the real life and the game is that we have fun with the game, doing things that if done in real life we would not have any fun at all (like commiting some sort of act that could result in arrest). In the game, you could go in the street kicking people around and breaking everything on your way. That would be extremelly fun (and stress-relieving) in a realistic life-simulation game. Now imagine yourself doing that in real life. It could even be more stress-relieving, oh yes, but you would spend the rest of your days in real prision, having no enjoyment at all.So, realistic games are meant for having the fun of doing things we are not able to do in real life, either because it is impossible, or it is against the law, or it's extremely improbable.

That's a nice one. Too bad it has only space for one. (yes, you wouldn't expect it to have sodas that slide down the tower lined up vertically, falling one after another..).BUT, even if that is powered by the PSU it would take a whole lot of power just to make it generate freezing temperatures, leaving you with less power to keep your motherboard and vga working properly! Not playing games because of the friggin soda!

I created a server using just IIS (that is included in MS Windows) that was accessible to anyone that knew my ip (just me of course), but I set it up on port 89 to improve security. Then I created an account at http://www.noip.com/ to be able to manage my own dns and created a redirection using one of its sub-domains, and that instead of having to type the address with the ":89" to be able to access the computer, I created a redirection to port 80 too.It worked great for a while, but I couldn't keep running it because I had really no use for it nor I could keep spending electricity like I was..And when it comes to php stuff I take that advice that Inspiron said, that's almost like having owr own host in our own computer, and then we host ourselves in! (just kidding.. or not?)

Even if you didn't want to create a site with that idea, or you couldn't afford to aqquire all those copyrights of millions of sounds, you could create that project for your own entertainment, or at least, to gain some knowledge. You could do a program that compares a song to some songs in a database and output the result, but all I just heard (on the programming side) is that you would have to compare the frequencies of the songs in some way (maybe some type of bit-by-bit comparison), but your little program would get pretty popular just for the sake of knowledge and originality to create it.

Amd Vs Intel see which brand of processor is more popular
Radioactive replied to Reaper's topic in Science and Technology
I have an Intel processor and I hear too that AMd is better, but personally I'm better off with this because it was where I spent my money so I must be satisfied. I saw this video on tom's hardware about heat emergencies of both processors and I found the video quite interesting. It shows the effect of removing the heatsink while the computer is on. You can check it here (scroll down the page if you want do download the video): Tom's Hardware Processor Heat Emergencies -
Hehe very interesting. I bet the person that discovered it for the first time was the one that set up that scene. Can you imagine that it could be simply a big piece of plastic painted in black and placed aside the car? Or something like that, I don't really know.Btw, it's not Harry Potter, it's David Copperfield!! Haven't you seen the video where he lifts a train only-god-knows-how? David Copperfield it is for sure!

I had a downstream speed of 2048mbps and 128mbps upstream, but my isp decided to double the velocities to 4096mbps and 256mbps. All this for 35? (around 45 dollars). One strange thing I noticed is that it says on my isp's site that with 4096mbps downstream speed, I can reach 512MB/s download speed (downstream / 8 = download), but sometimes I download things at almost 3000MB/s. Somewhat strange but for me it's ok:)

Is Life A Conspiracy? My theory on life.
Radioactive replied to scotty_knows's topic in Science and Technology
First of all, the word and concept of 'conspiracy' was created by humans, and without humans to understand it, then it would have no sense at all.It would also be cool thinking about things like the matrix and how it could really be possible if we think a little about it. But, even that it is a movie, the matrix is based on computer programs, and we have created computers, so it would be a contradictory idea, assuming we weren't plugged in after the invention of computers, without our knowing. And every movie we see that makes us think about life and such, "how could it be this and that", "what if life is really like this", "it could be true", "it isn't impossible", etc.. We have to see that movies are a creation of man, simply for entertainment. Anything that we could possibly see in a movie is only true if the writer of the movie experienced it or is sure about what he's writing, based on real facts.I really would like to believe in god, but when I think deeply about the matter of life, it makes me think that god is an imaginary figure created by people to give them someone to beg or blame (and maybe it is, maybe not). Though I still use the expression "oh my god".. Funny isn't it?.. -
Funny. That was one of the problems I used to have during a lot of time. But my question was a little different (it should go back to the same theory, though). We have two mirrors close to each other. One that would let us see through like matto stated, and other that were reflecting the one we were watching through. What king of image would we get? Sort of a black infinite, effects like the ones that appear when you point your webcam to your monitor and display what the cam is seeing, resulting in an infinite framing of the cam view (try it!), etc..Nice mind-twister btw:) but the best way to discover is to actually try.

This friend of mine has an ipod and a motorola l7, and he thinks he's the best, he's the coolest because he's got two thin hi-tech pieces of hardware that he can easily slide through his pockets with style, and "un"slide them out of his pockets again to use them. Of course that's just my friend's attitude, but noone should think "yeah! i have an ipod! and you don't! haha". That attitude just sucks.I normally hate the things I can't buy, until I actually own them, lol. Yes, ipod is nice. I dont' have one, but instead I have one mp3 player that I got it free from somewhere and has 128mb and a battery and a usb port that slides from the inside. And I'm happy with it! ipod wished it had sliding usb ports.. oh sliding softly, and entering the usb port on the pc, and then where you're finished, sliding it back inside the player.. oow

It is true that technology plays a very important role in our world, but with it there always advantages and disadvantages. Take the internet for example. It allows us to reach any person in the world, get any information we want (bad or illegal information is only viewed if people want to, they are not obliged to view it anyway), but one disadvantage of the internet is that anyone can violate someone's copyrights and simply get safely away with it. I'm talking about piracy, one of the main concerns out there. With the internet, came piracy. With piracy came copy protections. With copy protections came security advancements. With security advancements came other ideas for both even more security advancements and anti-security advancements (invasions/breaches). And with that came Etc, and etc..You see, every technology always triggers some kind of other technology or some new idea for another innovation. With a technology's good part we want to use it more and see it getting more and more developed, and with a technology's bad part we want other technologys to secure or correct the other.Personally, I don't know where this is going to stop, but one thing I know for sure. We will sooner end up dead by technology wars, because there are people in this world that controll the technology developments, others that manage the economic relationships between countries, and all this leads to a technology race, that usually ends up in war, if it's a particularly innovating technology. (These capitalists won't rest until they dominate everything). And that's my oppinion. (and sorry for any grammar error or bad english you may find. I tried my best to expose my idea in my second language:))

After months of trying to design good layouts in frontpage or dreamweaver, I found these 'portal' concept and decided this was just the thing for me! It was perfect. I really recommend it if you don't have the patience for creating you own website from scratch. And relating to portals, the three of the most used portals are php-nuke, post-nuke and xoops. In their own website, they give a general comparison between each of these three portals: - PHP-Nuke vs. Post-Nuke - PHP-Nuke vs. Xoops - Post-Nuke vs. Xoops
