Is there any reason why you don't use free software? Do you think its unsafe or something? I find it strange how people don't use free software when its there

I guess the answer is just because maths doesnt seem to like Zeros, for example, zero multiplied by zero equals one... but how...If you look at it like this: 1 X 2 is the same as saying i have one bucket of two items, so i have two items, yet when i have O X O, zero buckets of zero items... how can i suddenly have one item.... it makes no sense.... So that's my answer for why! and I too thought we were talking programming which is why im here really... Well i'm primarily a PHP/mysql/html/css coder and i love the free software PHP Designer, Google it! Despite the name it edits any text file you can think of. This isnt a WYSIWYG Editor because i find them clunky and im a coder not a designer so i rarely have use for one, though i will download KompoZer as i do use them sometimes For coders i would recommend PHP Designer as its FREE for non-commercial use and its syntax highlighted, so it will highlight your code to help you out and when coding if you start a pre-defined function such as mysql_query it will tell you what information needs to go into the brackets which can be a great reminder! If youre just coding someone else's design then i recommend NOT using a WYSIWYG editor as usually WYSIYWGs add code that you might not need or want, and one big annoyance with 3 that ive tried is every time i hit the enter key i get a BR tag and i dont want one there! If youre not familiar with HTML or hand coding or youre a designer then a WYSIWYG will be very useful. Another item I'd like to add are tutorials. the reason being is that you could have all the software in the world but without knowing what to do with it youre never going to get anywhere! One place that was great in my early days of PHP is Tizag.com google something like "Tizag HTML tut" and youll find all sorts of tutorials thre for HTML, JS, CSS, SQL, PHP and maybe graphics. In general a google search will return many results for good tutorials. Of course these are al free. And another thing would be graphics editors. Essential for designers, you could just use MS pain or its linux/unix/mac counterparts but generally theyre very limited. Most people use the GIMP as its completely free and not bad in its functionality. Advanced designers might find it limited though so i suggest googling or asking around. My setup of software is like this, all of it is free of course : Editors Code Editors: PHP Designer And Terillian Webpage and Nvu WYSIWYG Ediors Image Editor: GIMP Sound Editor: Audacity -- Not really needed but could be useful sometimes Browsers/Debuggers etc..: Mozilla Firefox Internet Explorer V6 -- Not upgraded as IE 7 is a memory hog and useless, if im desperate to test in IE7 then i can get it but we all know Mozilla will take over soon Other PHP/MYSQL Servers/IDE's: XAMPP -- This is used to allow me to run and therefore test my PHP FTP Client: Smart FTP And thats about it. I think its a good idea to share our setups so those who need new software can see what is preferred by other people, and it also helps newbies to decide what setup they might need. Hi all, i went karate once for about month or two then left because my step brother annoyed me.. Now a few years later i want to go again, i picked up a leaflet and it had several different forms of karate listed on it and i want to know which one is best for either fitness or self defence so i can make my mind up! Ideally im looking for a form that will offer me fitness, as im definitely not in shape! But also one that gives me practical self defence skills that, if the need arose, i could use on the street to defend me or my friends who dont go karate with me. I suppose the most desired of the two benefits i asked about is fitness, and of course i need a form that i can do, as im a pretty big lad! I can move easilly enough but im not going to be as fast as a fitter bloke, nor am i ging to be able to jump 6 feet in the air and kick someone in the face (Though having said that i wouldnt need to jump, i can get my foot 6 feet high and kick anyway, the advantages of being tall! ) Wado KaiYing WuKwan Kung FuIshinryuWado Ryuthese are the ones that were on the leaflet, ive managed to do a little research on Wado Ryu, and it sounds good as what ive read is that it doesnt rely on strength or fitness as such, more deflection rather than emphasis on massively fast and powerful strikes, which means its a form id be comfortable doing and given the fact i dont do any exercise now it should still help me loose weight combined with a healthier diet. So far i havent been able to find out much abut the other forms so Wado Ryu is in the lead at the moment! I know there are some rather accomplished martial artists on the boards so if youre reading this then please, give me/us some of your wisdom! If youve studied any of these forms then give your experiences and opinions and even some descriptions of the form you know about!I noticed another post abut choosing the most suited martial art but as this is a different request i made a new topic, with any luck the combination of these two topics will give some enlightenment!

Hopefully this means that you have the confidence and control not to worsen things but starting a fight. Hopefully it means another thing too, that you have the skills to defend yourself. Im not saying fight, especially not in school but if one kid goes to hit you then dont accept it, block it, dont attack him back but block it then look him in the eye, generally when a bully sees you are stronger than they think they will give it up. One a kid who was more popular than i was walking by with one of his friends and decided he would fling his arm out in front of me to scare me, needless to say it failed and i was doing karate at the time so my reaction was to block what i thought might be an attack, and i knocked his food out of his hand straight onto the floor. I thought he would then try to hit me etc.. but he didnt, he was surprised and just walked off. Other than that tell a teacher or your friends or something, they can keep an eye out or something. Or of course if isnt bothering you too much then ignore it. Well i wouldnt recommended that. For three reasons, one is you would get in a lot of trouble for carrying/using it which wont be good for your future, two he could then pull a blade and stab you at the threat of being stabbed himself in what he could call self defence and three you might end up seriously hurting or killing someone and im sure you dont want that. the best thing is just to defend their attacks and leave it at that, if you hit back then they might get their friends etc involved and you dont want that.

Hey there, assuming this code works on either your local server or another webhost the problem is most likely one of two things. First off you are right in putting your files into the public_html or www folders as these links lead to the only user-viewable directory, so if you have files elsewhere try moving them to a subdirectory of this folder. The other possibility is that your file/folder permissions are set up wrong. For testing purposes try setting permissions to all your files and folders to 777, this is especially true for the files you are using the "include" function on or with. Hopefully this will now work fine, but of curse its insecure so youll have to change the permissions to something like 557 or 556, a little research on google will help with that as i rarely use linux i dont often change file permissions.they are my best suggestions, if the problem persists then post some of the code, especially anywhere where the INCLUDE is used and of course if you havent already then try testing it on another server, it could simply be that the T17 servers are set up differently than the one you are testing on and so a little code modification will solve the issue.

Ah what a great film! I saw it friday and its now sunday so im going to steer this topic towards discussing the plot and characters etc so there would be spoilers from here on out, if you are posting spoilers then put them inside the spoiler tag so we dont ruin it for everyone!SM already wrote a review that is set to be filled in so he doesnt spoil the film so i wont be reviewing the film, but as he says in his topic the timing of this film compared with saw 3 is very confusing but here is what me and my friends and Wiki have confirmed: And that is most of the spoilers over. I didnt expect this film to be so gory! Im a massive fan of gore but the opening scene SPOILER: is extremely gory! I really didnt expect that. and for the first few scenes i thought this film was going to be just a gore fest with no real story line but then the games began and it is so genius its unreal!So my advice is see it, understand it, then see it again and read the wikis before you truly understand it, i still need to read the saw 4 wiki and get the uncut DVD My rating is a 1O a big fat TEN! Again this series is one of the very few films where the sequels are actually better than the prequels! Good work Twisted Pictures! Keep an eye out for the next saw films and other films by twisted pictures, of which i know one but i cant remember the name.

Unless im confused Jeff sliced Jigsaws throat with the circular saw/grinder. Hah, just realised how ironic it is that Jigsaw was killed by a saw... Im sure that he is dead and Amanda too though to be fair it is possible in the world of Hollywood that there might be another assistant who will run in and save Amanda who just fell unconscious or something rather than actually dying. As for Jigsaw the trailer does indeed suggest he is dead and i also suspect that, even though it is just a film, the writers wouldnt try to make us believe he somehow survived all that happened in the third film. One of the many questions that need answering is what was on the tape that Jigsaw poured candle wax onto? I would agree with that because i know some of what happened to Eric the cop but i still dont know if he is currently dead or hanging on to dear life in the house as you said. I know Amanda done him over pretty good but i cant remember if the film showed his ultimate fate so i suspect there will be flashbacks to that Well ill put this in spoiler tags as im fairly sure this is how they will keep the idea of Jigsaw alive despite the fact the man behind the mask is dead, its not a spoiler as such but this way you have a choice...Live or Die.. sorry couldnt help it!... And so here we are again, another addition to the series of genius, comical and somehow comforting torturous games of the man himself, Jigsaw.As of yet i havent seen the film, however in 24 hours i will most likely be watching the end of the trailers and the start of what is set to be a legendary film. From what ive heard the story line is rather interesting, i havent heard much except...Maybe not a spoiler but it does have a little of the story line so if you want it to be a surprise then dont Highlight, otherwise highlight the black area below Its being advertised as the greatest game yet and i expect it will be as the games have been getting better and better with saw 3 being the most genius and clever one yet. Saw 1 was good with the psychological factors but the plot wasnt as clever as the second film with the by in the safe, which i thought was VERY genius and also shows how jigsaw isnt a bad man, perhaps slightly mad but still a genius man who makes rules and enforces them. Saw 3 showed how he does want his "victims" to succeed as Amanda broke his rules by first making un-winnable games and of course by killing the wife/surgeon which eventually lead to the death of Amanda which would have been averted if only she had followed the rules as Jigsaw is keen to point out. My expectations for the fourth film are great. I expect an extremely complex, genius yet understandable plot involving very clever and painful, gruesome games and hopefully to see a few winners as the only winner we have seen is Amanda given the fact that the policemans sons was obviously saved in the second film but Amanda won in the first film all on her own earning her the respect of Jigsaw.The only downside to this film is that Jigsaw is dead and as much as i know his voice will still be a part of the film i will still know his character is now dead and that will detract slightly as the man is a legend. Ive heard rumours of a Saw5 and Saw6 so if anyone can confirm or deny this i would be grateful! The question this raises is will Jigsaw be replaced or will he simply have pre-recorded his games and an assistant will kidnap and setup the games?I hope he isnt replaced as it never works when a legendary character is replaced by a new actor or character but of course will have to wait a year or two to discover the fate of the Saw films. In a few days time i shall come back with a review hopefully!

Hi everyone, I need to loose some weight and im what you might call a tight wad and so i dont want to pay just for someone to tell me im overweight and need to loose weight when i can do it all myself and as such ive found out my daily point allowance and then im looking through various thins on the WW website about points and i saw something interesting: This doesnt make sense to me... Every chicken donner ive had or seen has been literally soaked in oil/grease/fat im not sure which it is but i can tell you that literally there is a pool of it at the bottom of the tray and the pita bread is wet with oil to the point that in some areas it cant absorb any more and it sits on top in a horrible greasy layer. S how can something with this much grease/oil be only 4.5 points? from my understanding the point value of a food is calculated based on the amounts of fat, fibre and protein which leaves only one answer t my question.. the greasy substance isnt a fatty substance, and its not a fatty oil then what is it? I know chicken is fairly lean when cooked right which then asks the question, where does the liquid come from? I know its not watery based as its extremely oily. Any ideas?

Hi all, hopefully this wont offend any of you but here goes. Bloody immigrants are everywhere here, i live in south east England and the amount of immigrants is unreal, its like the English man has just disappeared and ive had enough of it! theyre dirty aggressive people who dont deserve to be in our country. The few immigrants that pay their way and abide by our laws and social "rules" are fine, you almost dont notice them. But the majority or horrible people, they steal rape and, at least in my mind, are the most aggressive people in this country, sure there are english criminals but on average they arent anywhere near as aggressive as the immigrants. And the immigrants are always spitting on the floor, its filthy, huge clumps of spit on the floor spreading diseases. And they dont even seem to understand the concept of an orderly queue, theyre always pushing in and when they do they get a verbal bashing for me because in this country we queue for fairness, if they dont like it they can go home! And another thing, they always talk in their own god-damned language, if youre in England and youre living here you learn and speak English, if you cant speak understandable English then get out! Im not asking for brilliant English but so at least when they server me in some greasy fast food restaurant they understand what a "burger" is...That really annoys me, and the same goes for the English going to live in spain etc, learn the language and the culture or come home. Next on my list is the new "British" term thats used not to offend anyone, its ridiculous Yes im white, but so are Europeans, you might think im British, but no, youd be wrong, i am ENGLISH! British is the term used to describe anyone who lives in the UK, be they foreign or welsh, Scottish Irish or English, is the collective term used for anyone in the UK and as i have roots in England, i am English and proud to support the English flag, not the union jack but Saint Georges flag, the English flag. the threat of "playing the race card" is so great in England that during the World cup in which the English team came very close to winning many people flew the English flag, but a school actually BANNED the English flag because they were scared of offending its immigrant pupils...now please tell me thats wrong...the English team are in the world cup, youre an English school and you ban the English flag just because some stupid little immigrant kid might get upset because it sees the English flag! If they dont like it they can leave! And that basically concludes my rant on the immigrants today. The thing that gets me is that the UK government and media etc.. has a general ignorance that racism in the UK is under control, or not a problem. But it is wide spread and open, currently im working in many of the areas in London where the immigrants congregate and every white English person ive spoke to is racist, no matter of age or gender, they are racist, mainly towards the immigrants and not towards those who have come to this country, but soon a clash will occur, and blood will be spilt, and i suspect the English man will regain his country at last and those who decide to invade it will be subject to our laws and social bounds as much as we are and if they dont they will be shipped back home. One day the politicians will stop being scared little idiots and find their backbone and send some of them home and the rest will be treated as the English are treated, and not better which is currently the situation. Disclaimer: This isnt meant to offend Blah blah... it merely states my opinions which i am, of course, well within my rights to state. if you find it offensive then the likelihood is youve never been to this part of England, and if you have then meh, if you like immigrants stealing benefits and causing grief whereever they go then feel free to say nothing, but regardless of your country if youre fed up of paying for immigrants who then change your country's entire culture and avoid rules with the "racism card" then speak up and let the immigrants be heard. If you are an immigrant then hopefully you are one of those who try to integrate themselves into the English culture rather than trying to change it by complaining its against your religion or something. Again this isnt meant to offend but to state a point and it might sound a bit general but it is targeted at those immigrants who feel they are better than the original habitants of the country they chose to settle into.

Im assuming you understand that this would mean the loss of your websites files? In which case you can cancel your hosting yourself by going to the web hosting menu at the top of the page and selecting the terminate option. and as it says you will be put back into the "members" group but of curse loose all files and settings on your hosted space. And as far as i know you can re-apply for hosting as soon as you have the credits.

Good news then! The copyright will follow it if i do indeed use this code. Nice bit of code there!nowadays whenever i make a contact page i always use a PHP MAIL command to hide the address and i avoid writing my email address anywhere on the net too but it can be useful to create MAILTO links and this is a good way of protecting themWhen making a website for a relative they needed a contact page and wanted an image link with a MAILTO so i may very well end up using this little snippet if thats ok with you? Im more than happy to put a mention in the source code but as its for a paying client im reluctant to have a user-visible mark. Of course my use of the code is up to your discretion

Interesting, firstly allow me to say this..: I know you mean well but a virus is best deleted, if it gets released to someone else or even just uploaded it can re-start its spread and cause a lot of problems, so i would suggest that no-one, not just you, uploads any virus, the only time i would say to share a virus is if a security company, EG Norton etc.. specifically contact you about the emergence of a new virus and can prove their identity, and even then be sure to follow their instructions to the letter. Though i suspect its wildly unlikely they would ever ASK someone to send them a virus Now back on to the subject at hand, i would echo the advice given, not to accept any attachment unless you specifically ask for it from the send, and even then if its not the file you expected double check with the sender and if in doubt reject it and say your AV wont let it through or something, and always reject an EXE even if you trust the person as A: it could be accidentally infected or B: it could be someone else on their account or they have decided to be a pain. Either way good to have the heads up on yet another IM virus.

One of my contacts sent me a similar message but i didnt click it as it was out of character for that person and after a little research i fund out it was malicious, bad times. Ah good good, the more eyes on a threat the more people can avoid it until we can be sure that every AV has been notified and updated, i pity the fools without AV and firewalls!

Well i think it would be possible to create the online text editor, the problems arise when having rich text options like underlines and font colours as to do that you wuld need a lot of JS and then need to learn how to format it correctly for text-editing programs to be able to read it.For a start you would obviously need a form with the filename and then the file content fields and then the PHP would have to check it for malicious codes and such but still allow all characters to be used. You can then save it either as a file on the web server or in a database. Then you an use JS or PHP to prompt the user to download the newly created file.It wouldnt be too difficult but it wouldnt be able to automatically save the file to your "my documents" folder, the user would have to manually download it. Google has a very good version of this type of system, i think its called "google documents" or something, you can edit almost any file including word documents and excel files online and access them anywhere and download them. Very useful!As for the scientific calculator it would be possible so long as you know the formulas, then you can just use JS to carry out the calculations, it wouldnt be hard so long as you know the formulas of the different calculations.

I think the best way to learn, at least for myself, is to do. what i mean is take what you have learned already and make a website with it and when you want to do something and you dont know how to either ask for help or search on the internet, thats what i did and i consider myself a mid-level coder and still learning when i can be bothered!Im not sure if the tutorial you followed included databases but there are really great tutorials on tizag.com, just google "PHP mysql tutorial tizag.com" and you should find some good ones there. sonesay also posted some good code there so try to understand each line of that so you are able to create the code yourself and add or change things

Thanks for this, ill keep an eye out, is there a central monitoring organization that has got their eye n this too? If not it could be a good idea to fire off a report to them with the AV message in it too so they can warn others.

Ive never been paintballing but i would like to, ive played plenty of strategic FPS games though so i would say that if i were to go paintballing i would use short well aimed bursts because as t3jem said its harder for them to find me. I always get mocked for choosing a silencer in any FPS game but im the one that dies the least s i conclude noisy = deadI would imagine that the pros who just spray are aiming as well as shooting because as said, just shooting is a waste of ammo.All in all one shot one kill is preferred but a short burst is more practical

1: Xisto is part of the Xisto corporation which has been around for a while now and owns many sites including this one and its sister sites qupis.com and Xisto - Web Hosting.com and of course Xisto.NET, now i cant say how long Xisto.com will be around but judging by its huge success and its relation to many other sites and Xisto i suspect it will be here for a very long time, many years to come yet i imagine. As im sure youre aware after reading the help files, there are two FREE account types here at T17.COM one can be "bought" for Ten hosting credits, the other is for 3O hosting credits, if you dont know how this works read the readme file, a link to which can be found above the shoutbox. Now if you were to "buy" the 1O credit option and later decided you want the 3O credit account as you need more space etc.. then all you need to do is gain the 3O credits required and then go through the upgrade proccess, im not sure exactly how it works but i know it works as ive seen many members upgrade their accounts. Now if you got free hosting but later decided you wanted paid hosting with Xisto - Web Hosting.com (aka CH.com) then of course you must buy the hosting from that website and then transfer everything from T17, this is very easy to do and im sure the admins will be very glad to help so if that was the case ask for assistance when the time comes. As i understand the free and paid domain names offered by T17 and CH.com are also transferable. Again you would need the admins assistance fr this little trick! I hope that helps. Ive been here for over a year now and been hosted for nearly the same time and ive seen a lot of great additions, in the last year we have had the ads on the forums taken off, xisto has acquired qupis.com and ImageFilez and i think all hosted accounts have had their space and BW upgraded as well as server upgrades, and the only serious issues have been a hardware failure which resulted in a few hours of downtime for only a few sites and this was all rectified with no loss of data. Just make sure you read the help files and enjoy the forums and hosting!

Well when i visit http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I get the directory listing meaning there is no default page eg, index.htm or whatever, so try re-uploading an index file with a different extension, or youll have to modify your .HTACCESS file (or whichever one it is because that doesnt sound right) to recognise the index.pl file you have already as the default.

It is a good idea but then again they already have label printers that do a similar thing, though it would make a lot of sense to be able to print the highlighted text only, and it wouldnt be too hard to implement for a hardware/software company, the software could also make the text wrap onto three lines to fit on one sticker or it could work like a till receipt with a continuous roll of sticky paper and you have to cut it off at the end of the text.Sounds like a good idea!
