Id like to add that things like sequences eg "123456" etc... probably are detected by the software and flag the password as weak. I would suggest that if you have any sequences longer than 3 digits (or even letters, eg "abcde") that you change them. I dont know what classifies as a strong password according to Cpanel, but you are doing the right things with letters, numbers and symbols but perhaps you have a lot of repetition or sequences.

I dont know if this is the same bug but it seems sometimes you get a horizontal scroll bar for no apparent reason. A pain but should be ironed out. It could be the website but i dont think i get a H-scroll with FF.First reports are that its very good and i like it so far. It seems there is also a bug where typing in a rich text box like i am now, sometimes half a word will disappear but the space it occupies doesnt go (so it looks like you have 5 spaces or whatever) this happens more when right clicking a typo.But considering its a beta its remarkably stable and bug-free

you will need to be logged in as the administrator to install it. Presumably you have different user accounts for different people in your house? If so log into the admin account, probably your dads or something, and try it there.Im downloading it as we speak. It is slow, probably because of the huge server load they must be having right now. The used an engine from webkit, i dont know what engine but its not google's own. Which admittedly is cheating slightly, but with their multi tasking and sandboxing it should really excel

you dont need to rename the HTDOCS folder. You need to rename the XAMPP folder that is inside the HTDOCS folder. Eg go to C:\XAMPP (or wherver you installed it. then go into the HTDOCS folder and if there is a folder inside that called XAMPP (so the file location is C:\XAMPP\HTDOCS\XAMPP) rename that last XAMPP folder. So now you have C:\XAMPP\HTDOCS and inside there you have XAMPP_OLD or something. Now try going to your localhost http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and see what happens. If you still get the "It works" Message you need to look for and rename, ANY "index" file or any other HTML file inside the HTDOCS folder. Basically when you type LOCALHOST or whatever your browser effectively goes to the folder xampp/htdocs so any file inside the HTDOCS folder is now on display. So clear out that folder. Just copy/cut it into a fodler on your desktop or something and delete the originals, so that the HTDOCS folder is now empty. And place your own index.htm file in there. And test again.

I class myself as a developer or coder. I code in PHP mainly and of course HTML etc... and i would consider a programmer to write in C## or something like that. (VB just doesnt count... it really isnt a language, more a collection of crap carefully moulded into a perfect turd shape with no logic involved) I differentiate between the two by this: Programmers write code, that code is then compiled and saved. Coders write code. That code is saved and compiled when executed, not when saved.So php remains as human readable code and is turned into binary when executed in the CPU. C## is turned into binary by the developer, well before it is executed.

Damn you! You beat me! I was gonna post this last night but didnt! Im also a web developer and browser compatibility is a BIG issue. If this thing isnt as good as, or better than FF then i hope it fails. I cant afford to spend yet more time testing in another browser. But lets hope its better than FF, nothing wrong with healthy competition, its the lack of it that has lead to IE's state note this feature Complete attack on IE8's "porn" or Private mode. Does the same thing. This shoould be very good. I also like a brand new JS engine, could be more stable and reliable than current browsers. Haha theres also a nice easter egg in the little comic book. They are talking about javascript and eventually you see a guy standing on a road with a speed limit sign to his right. The speed limit is 10 the power of 100 (so 10 with a small 100 written above and to the left in superscript) This number is in fact a Googol, and that is a scientific, mathematical word. I replied in the shoutbox too, try renaming the "xampp" folder to "xampp_old" i think it isnt needed and so can be deleted, but rename it first so its easier to recover. remember to place the "test" folder inside the "htdocs" folder too.

Im trying to learn design, if thats possible, and here is one that i made today, its taken maybe 5 hours to do and is based on an imaginary paintballing company. Ive only designed the home page but all other pages will follow the same template of text location, but they may not have the div on the right, instead maybe 3 images of the paintball area (if i were to do this site for real of course)Let me know what you think, its fairly bland i admit but i feel good about having a very set theme, all camouflage colours and an army font title image at the top. I couldnt use my army font for the main text as its not standard so i used another font instead. The buttons on the right are rollover images, all the ones you see are the standard images with the third button showing the rollover image and the cursor.

mm contract work is Ok but id be loosing half, or more, of my earnings through the designer taking his cut. Ive made a design that is one of my best and once ive posted it up in a new topic ill link it here (leave all feedback in the other post though of course) I went to the library today to see if there were any books but alas its all how to learn CSS and HTML etc.. which i dont need. Not if i beat ya to it As jlhaslip said, PHP is probably the best and easiest way to do this, assuming you know PHP (PHP is a back end, server side coding language, no PHP code is ever shown to the user, it is run like a program on the hosting server and then the user sees the output, eg "Email sent" not the code) with php you would write a new file and then link it to the submit button using the form's "action" attribute eg: action=email.php As jlhaslip also said you can use the basic HTML mailto: link with additional details, but this is apparently unreliable and not very browser compatible. So the best route is the PHP one, if you need a script then there are a good few PHP coders on the forums that can write one for you in a few minutes so just ask

If I remember rightly, there is a link that was posted on all approved requests, was it https://support.xisto.com/ ? Where newly approved members had to go to manually confirm/setup their hosting. So you could try going there and logging in and seeing what happens or as jlhaslip sad try logging into your cpanel with the address he gave you, once logged in (if you can) you can then bolt on your domain name that you bought and upload your pages etc..

Im a coder, i dont design things, i just write the code for other people. I want to work for myself but to do that i need to be able to design, otherwise i need to find and pay a designer and loose half the profits because of it. Its a pain

Thanks, i just find it hard to think of what goes in that big empty space, or what colour that bar/area should be etc... It wouldnt be too bad if i could get a company to give me a go, or look at my scripts and see i can do this stuff but they wont, they just want commercial experience and crap like that... *sigh* ill have to just keep doing some designs i guess

Firstly may i remark on the irony of having a forum title that is "trapped in *BLEEP*" and not being able to swear in posts?anyhoo.. my rant... Im 19, just turned, been college and it was an absolute waste of two years of my life (i live in the uk btw) we had 3 teachers for ICT, one we got fired for being "mentally unfit to teach"... And this place isnt even some run down place, just the ICT staff suck, she actually asked the class which one was the network cable... This woman is supposed to be teaching 16-19 year olds about computers, and she asks that... Need i comment more on the state of my ICt education? I think not, so i shall move on.I consider myself a skilled coder, as you can see i am in the coding group and i am a PHP programmer. Of cours ei also know HTML, CSS, some JS and a tad of AJAX along with various skills and knowledge in web hosting, web and computer technology, the web hosting process (choosing host, uploading, configging the site and email, getting a domain name, pointing it at your host etc..) So basically if you said to me today "code me a website, upload it and give it a name" id have it done in a week, provided it was a plain old site :)But the downfall is my design skills. I cannot design for... well turd... It just doesnt work, i cant decide what colours to put together, i cant decide what renders or graphics to use etc... I can code from a design with no problem but making a design sucks. Because of my computer skills and general (dare i say this...) above average IQ, common sense and overall knowledge i consider myself too good to waste it all in reatil, or mac donalds or some crap. I need more, i need opportunity, i need responsibility, i need to move up the ladder and not stay at the bottom.... I want to use my skills, it would be like david beckham playing table tennis, or bill gates being a cleaner. Its just not right.Ive been through enough to know that no-one but myself can change this, and i will succeed, i will make something out of myself. The key is time... we only get one life (perhaps) and i refuse to waste half of it working in some dead end job waiting, waiting, waiting and wasting. I refuse. so what do i do.. now i could go back to college... do a design course, but the problem is this. I consider myself proficient at web coding, but it is the design i need to learn and almost every course ive read says things like "gain a core knowledge of FTP, email, HTML etc..." i already have that. going on that course would be patronizing, degrading and a waste of my life. I honestly think that if i go on a course like that there is NOTHING that they can teach me that i dont already know. Now that is not to say i know it all, there are many things in my field that i have yet to learn, but these clowns arent going to teach me it are they? all they care about is getting me through a freaking test, i can do that already. So i could find the course i want, but can design be taught? I mean its like being an artist, you cant be TAUGHT to be an artist, you either have it or you dont, simple as. Its not a logical thing like coding, which anyone with a high enough IQ can learn, its like being a musician, some people can, some cant. And in design i fall into the "cant" category. So even though im a good coder, i cant go freelance because i cant design. I cant get a job an an agency or as an in house developer because i cant get experience, and i cant get experience because no-one will take me on.. Its just ridic...Anyway, rant over. If you have any suggestions about how i can learn design, if thats even possible, or how to break into the development trade let me know...

Man you should discover the GIMP! (google it) best free graphics program there is, takes a bit of practice but its good! And you can still create that old skool look of MSPAINT using some of the more basic GIMP tools. anyhoo, welcome to the place and have fun, what url did you have in mind? Ive been thinking about this for a while, every since i did a search for my email address in google (you should really try it, youd be surprised where your address turns up sometimes) I was lucky and the only reference to it was here at T17 in my hosting app. But this concerned me...Many of the folk here at trap are very intelligent and cautious people and dont like their email address being splattered across the internet but that is what is happening because of the application threads. I would like to ask if they can be made mod/admin only or if Jlhsalips email hiding code can be added. It wouldnt be too much work i dont think.anyone else have any thoughts on this?
