http://www.nbcnews.com/id/14458159/ Ok how can this be? The article states that Verizon had to lower their cost of DSL service because of a judge mandated order. But in order for the company to not lose money they impose a surcharge for DSL users. Charging like a $1.20 for 768 users and like $2.2o for DSL users that have a higher connection rate. How legal is that? I mean that's like telling the Phone company they have to let other people use their lines, and in stead of just doing that they add on a charge that makes it hard for other companies to actually accomplish this. Isn't that just circumventing the court order? Any thoughts?

What Would You Do If There Was No Internet? hmm...
Moolkye replied to whyme's topic in Science and Technology
Well if there was no internet, I would probably be 50 pounds lighter, have a better social life, and probably even have a successful marriage.I probably would have bought a lot of porn mags too -
What about a site totally devoted to people and their ideas for music videos. A site for just that. Everyone has done it. You hear a song you like, but no video, and you get tis really cool idea for one, and would love to make it happen. So you make a site called, oh I dunno, 'YoVideo' or 'MYOV- Make Your Own Video' and pick a song you like and make it the way you would liek to see it.There are a lot of songs by artists that have no videos, and since the video scene is dying, which once used to rule MTV, now has it's own place on the web.YouTube is just too full of crap that no one wants to see any way.You could have sponsers, and contests, and genres, etc.Any thoughts?

You know, it's so funny to hear people talk about global warming. Thinking that it is our fault. The hole in the ozone was a big thing back in the day, but guess what, it's getting smaller.Global warming is just an idea that someone thought of one day because one summer was unusually hotter than the last 10. So what. Climates change. And I don't know of a meteorologist yet who can actually brodacast the right weather for tomorrow.Besides the fact that supposedly back in the dino age, the climate was much hotter than it is today. More humidity, and hardly any cold areas. Maybe do to continetal drift, Pangaea being pulled apart, yada yada yada. So the dinosaurs caused their global warming by what? Car emissions, really big farts... what? The point is, that we have only been here on this earth for maybe thousands of years, so how can we say what will happen either 10 million years from now, or what happened 10 million years ago.Why not live in the here and now, and stop worrying about stuff we will never see nor may not have any control over.

What Is A Good Free Forum Software?
Moolkye replied to lemonwonder's topic in Websites and Web Designing
goto hotscripts, and look for a board that suits your needs. There is MORE than just phpbb.phpbb is the most configurable one out there, but there are others that may offer more than you want but less than phpbb. Invision is a nice one as well -
The easiest solution is to remove the cdrom and let it boot. That should force the default boot, which is from IDE Device 0.Have you gone into your BIOS and changed the boot order back to normal?

Hard Drive Freezer Trick have you ever tried it?
Moolkye replied to serverph's topic in Hardware Workshop
That's pretty funny. I have never seen anyone take the "Freezer" trick to that level before. I wonder if it worked :)Personally, if the data is not that important, what's the point? Just to do it?I have tried this, and I have to admit, it hasn't done squat. I don't know who came up with this idea, or if it is just a myth.Physics say that metal, cold or frozen condenses or contracts. Hence putting more pressure on the drive. It would be better to heat the drive up., freeing up and friction because the platters and all the metal would expand. But then that could also add more problems to and already bad situation. There is a way to copy data from a drive one bit at a time. But you need to get the drive to a bootable state. If this can not be done, I don't know of any app or trick that can fix that. That is why there are companies out there that make lots o money from data recovery.Just my opinion -
I just installed a RC of VIsta at work and let me tell you this....1) It's pretty, yea I said it. It's pretty.2) It's very cumbersome. 32 bit install requires 512 ram and 16 gigs to install. 64 bit, well it needs 1 gig of ram and 24 gigs of install space. 3) There is a firewall protection scheme running on top of windows. So anything you install, is questioned by the windows firewall. I can understand this, but is it really necessary?4) Right click desktop, display properties? Nope, not there anymore. Now it's 'Personalize' then choose display properties.5) Installing windows components? Good luck with this one. I had to refer to an online forum to find the answer.6) Memory hog? Yup you guessed it, back to the first edition of Win98.To me, Vista is just a pretty version of 2000/XP with some extra added features that no one wants or needs. I would compare this more to the Mac OS than a new version of Windows!

Well seeings how that they way a cable modem and it's connection works, yea, I think it ought to be free.Figure to get those speeds, your lines are fiber up to the pole or hub, and then copper into your house. So those speeds are already there, it's just if they actually want to give them to you or not.Right now, your cable modem can support 10-100 mb transfer rate. But they are only giving you a portion of that. They can push more, but then the cable modems would all have to be changed and the connection to your desktop would still be limited ti twisted pairs in the Ethernet cable which only has a maximum through put of 100 mb.So then you'd have to go to a fiber card and hope that your CPU and system can handle it.

Wow, That was the picture I was trying to find. Thanks so much for posting that Radioactive. Much appreciated.

I have to admit, that Craigslist.rog has become one of my most visited sites. I got there at least 20-30 times a day. I knew about this site before the whole Red Paper Clip story. There is so much to do on there. I got more job responses from there than I did on Monster or Career Builder. I got more responses when selling stuff and found that people are offering more via this site than any other. It's probably do to the easy to navigate system, no ads, and not a lot of crap to fill out to get something done! I highly recommend this site if you have not been there yet. http://frankfurt.craigslist.de/ A+ 10+ from me!

I have to agree with whoever said it, that combining into one device is annoying at times. If you break the camera part then you are out of a camera, but still have an mp3 player, phone and gaming system, till one of those breaks. It's like having an all in one fax machine, copier, scanner, coffee maker. If one thing breaks, then you are out of all of them until it gets repaired. The best option is to have separate items, just smaller in size so you can carry around all of them.

Watch Your Dvds On Your Ipod, Psp, Or Even Your Mobile Phone!
Moolkye replied to eDeals.ws's topic in General Discussion
I can give you a stick of dynamite and tell you that it is used to blow up rock for mining purposes. And you can take that information and figure out that you can use it to blow up ALL SORTS of things, including buildings, cars, planes, people, etc."People have the right to choose wrong" -
Well Hardrives in themselves make noised because it is spinning and accessing data. When hard drives start making more noise than normally, that usually means that either it is getting too hot, or that the platters are becoming damaged. I would back up all your data now, and replace the hard drive. It's better to be safe, than sorry!

Well it would be more like those cool 3d holograms that use to be on National Geographic. If you look at it one way you only se eit in 2d but tilt the image slightly and you see what's behind that object, hence the 3d. So data would be stored like that. I mean crystals themselves have thousands of areas of surface within the body of the crystal. Each surface being a place to store data dimensionally. Kind of insane, but super cool.

I was on MSNBC.com and read this article What I find funny, is that fact that people are complaining, because they are stupid. They were dumb enough to believe whatever that scammer was offering. There is an old saying that says, "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't true!" Why is it, when most people see a scam like these, that they think it is going to be any different than any other scam on the web. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH!!!!

I once heard about a storage device that would store information 3 dimensionally. Meaning that instead of storing it end to end, it would be able to stack end to end and on top of one another.I think that it was a crystal type of device, no moving parts!Has anyone else ever heard about this?

Well what might be wrong could be a few things. There is 3 declarations in that statement1) that you are using at least xml version1.02) that the encoding is UTF-83) and that it is a standaloneThe xml thing is pretty simple, just make sure that whatever browser you are using to view the document supports XML version1The encoding, that is pretty much standard, well at least the utf-8 isAnd the Standalone? Well that is basically saying that this app will be able to run outside of a page, on it's ownSo do some searches on Goggle for these things. I do not know what the entire things says, so I can only speculate

I just installed the lastest betas of Vista and Office 2007 using VMware at work, and let me tell, you, it rocks. VMWare handled both without a hitch. The onlythign was no sound support. No big deal though.

Well there is this: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ But all that does is validate the code to make sure there aren't any syntax errors. It's called Parsing or a Parser.

Sock 4 & 5 are just protocols used for connection purposes. Mostly used gateway situations. But why do you ask? Are you having connection issues?

Well if you want to change the speed at which you connect to the wind, open your sails more. Remember that sailing is a dangerous sport as the wind is very unpredictable.

Go get Nvu. It's a free web page editor. Then you will be able to see the page in it's design layout as well as the coding behind it. You might even be able to repair the xml coding. I believe there are free xml repair apps out there. You might have to do a search for them.

Ok when an app says it makes browsing 500 times faster all it is doing is creating a cache of web sites and images and what not. It gives the illusion that is speeds it up, when it actually does nothing. Dial is only as fast as it is. Cable modems, same thing. When people say they are getting killers speeds, look at what you are connecting to. If you are connected to a website that has a t3 backbone and you are the only one on that site, then sure, it will be faster. But like anything else traffic, noise, and the host itself have a determining factor on how fast you access that site.Do not believe the hype when an app says it can speed up your internet connection. If they could actually do that, why would they have created cable modems, or T1 and T3 connections. Use your heads folks! There is no such thing as a free lunch!
