  1. I love ALA! I get so many ideas from there. Once I get my stories up and a few more tutorials/templates, I hope my site will grow. Right now I've got a couple constant visitors, enough to satiate me
  2. Green and red, while being across the color wheel from each other, look horrible together. I suggest silvers or blacks to go with the dark red theme. Maybe it would look better if you made the background a bit darker or make it a little less opaque on a dark background?
  3. As light crept hastily through the windows, a sudden howling brought trepidation to the dogs, shambling aimlessly. They yowled frantically, pawing only scratches. Momentarily, everyone ran, attempting, praying that it would help them escape the shamble
  4. I agree. That's a lot of red and it's really overpowering. Try adding a stroke or glow to the text so you can see it better because I can't even read it. Also, while the red adds atmosphere, it doesn't have much character. It seems like a kind of mist is around your face (I'm assuming that's your face) and it adds a bad effect to the whole thing. Lastly, borders. Borders are your friend. Heck, so are burritos. What am I prattling about?
  5. Being one who stays away from trends, if I ever call any graphics gfx, please shoot me.Anyways, since you are a newbie, I'll be gentle. They're all really plain or monochromatic - not a bad thing. They all have the same text. Sometimes you put text over a render (the picture) which isn't a good thing. A lot of them have very wild and busy backgrounds that distract and hurt your eyes. And a few of them have low quality renders or they're very hard to read.Things you can improve on:Find nice renders from sites like gamerenders.com and use those in your graphics. Use brushes for the background and sponge them on or scrape them on, just like you're painting something. Make sure your border looks good with the sig and don't forget to use drop shadows, opacity changes, and glows to your advantage.Things to avoid:Photoshop's general textures are pretty ugly. The filters, if used properly, can add some flair to your work, and remember: all things in moderation are good!So...I guess...6/10 for effort?
  6. If it worked, I would check it out. But it's not, so make sure your files are wherever and update us on that.
  7. Check that it's named correctly and that you've either uploaded a file in the correct format (.htm, php, .html, .shtml, etc.). Also make sure it's in "public_html", not my_html. I think it really is something do to with your directory or your file name because mine works even without the http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/.
  8. I figured it out. I HAVE MANY CLEVERS IN MY HEAD.<3
  9. Gawsh I love it! I need to steal it for my next sig...ahem...for myself :)She's making my annoyed face! <3 <3 <3 WE ARE TWINS
  10. Oooh I love the font and the bright colors. It looks pretty nice for a sig but the background could use a itty bit of detail. I dunno, just a little more pizazz. But very nice!8/10!
  11. OK, two things. Is your index page in either the public_html or www folder? If not, do that first.Second, is it hosted at Xisto or Xisto? That would make a big difference.I remember that I uploaded my 404 page first so I'd have something to see when I couldn't fix my site
  12. I can't write Biskie on the computer, and it's rushed and crappy, but I was experimenting with sponging. Oh, and I hate the lensflare >_> But we love ya!
  13. I made you a little something. It looks kind of crappy but it was extremely rushed. And yep, I can't write my screenname on the computer.
  14. But the thing is, this wasn't really meant to be a debate. That's how all of these controversial topics turn out though. You just state your facts and leave and I stated all the facts that I know. I believe that the best reference for how you feel about an issue isn't a Bible, or the Gita, or the Torah, Quran, or any other book. It's how you feel inside about said issue. Now they all have religious factors, sure, but quoting the Bible isn't how you feel about life after death. It's what the Bible says will happen to you after death. Maybe that'll explain why I never use any sources in my debates :/
  15. :D :DBut we love you, Michael! *sigh* but take care in whatever you do and I hope you'll come back from time to time <3 <3 <3
  16. Yep, quite a few sparkles - I was worried grunge wouldn't work. Eleven, let me know if you need backgrounds for your headers and whatever. I'll help ya out

  18. OK, here's attempt one: It's really grungy - not sure if that's what you wanted. I was personally trying to make it techy, but it ended up grungy. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v117/biscuitrat/john.jpg It's really big - I wasn't sure about the size but let me know if it fits.
  19. He wants a banner, I'm assuming. His current banner is a very tiny thing. I can work on something for ya
  20. Is it possible to do a "width="100%" attribute within frames? If so, you can try that. However, I prefer a div/CSS menu. Check out A List Apart for some nice menu tutorials

  22. Heh, it was a response to Johnny's: Yes, well, you're very likely the best member here...
  23. So the myths and folktales that I've remembered through the years don't count as research? What about my DNA camp and biology classes? I'm not a "find and quote" person. I like to base my arguments off of what I know, not what someone else points out, because that way it feels like I'm actively participating instead of throwing quotes around. This is also because I don't think that there's anyone who feels the way I do about my religion and about my love for scientific research. I'm a terribly mixed up person as far as my interests go.
  24. Heck yeah. My first real sig was probably my Link one - he beat me there :)Speaking of which, is anyone voting on the finals? It's kind of deserted, isn't it?@Johnny: My fishies rock. I'm gonna put a sig up with one of them on it. They're like uber fishies. And I really don't have any idea what I'm doing. If I'm trying to get a certain effect like that velvet/rusted metal texture I used in mine, I just overlay brushes to get the texture by splatting them insanely. If something goes wrong, I just Ctrl-Alt-Z and try it again.
  25. I made it myself this time around. Usually, I used Dreamweaver because it would automatically set the doctype and stuff, but I don't have it on this computer. It's probably for the better - I had to relearn a lot of HTML and CSS by doing it myself
