  1. Ty, perfect. I shall learn about find, it's new to me.
  2. I want to get the name of every folder but not any files in one volume, on Mac OSX 10.5.6. The best idea I can think of is some mix of ls/find and grep/awk, but even with google and man I can't work much out. I got to ls -Rl and awk '{ print $NF }' > file but they don't work together well. Any ideas? It can be a program, I just looked for unix commands first.
  3. That article suggests that Intel have the copyright on x86, which is far too close to monopoly, this won't change much in that case even if they do go through with Intel or Via.It's good I suppose, the less they buy in for the gpus the cheaper they might be, and the bottom deepest logic of gpu isn't too different to cpu, if different at all.
  4. Shame.. people should work harder on getting x11 onto windows and the managers like that. It's giving Windows a good first impression by lying Got x11 on mac, gonna look for kde/xfce for it now Tough to beat Aqua.
  5. Seems like what was often said, but never used for dialup. The whole go on for a minute, grab all we want, work on it for an hour then connect again. Pointless idea, though just less hassle for finishing an email while internet is down, rare. Even wireless wouldn't mean you'd save the email to your hard drive.
  6. I can't find anything about it on wikipedia, looking at olpc2. Oh, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11s isn't linked as part of .11. Sounds good, a step towards mites and so on, though still mac and ip based, heavy. I'm not sure on the use of it really, lan gaming? Even then, why not .11n, probably higher throughput at the reasonable cost of some power.
  7. The black holes and Higgs boson alike will both probably decay before they can take pictures of it. It's something like 600 300megapixel pictures a second, and they know what the decay from Higgs looks like.Decay = Unstable, breaking into smaller, more normal, longer lasting stuff.
  8. Having a lighter X window system like Fluxbox or Xcfe would be most of the difference between the four you mentioned and anything lighter. They are both installable on Ubuntu. Not sure on VM for linux.
  9. Mine only says Kontera and Yahoo, neither of which I use. Does everyone have the option for Google adsense?
  10. The general point is dual network cards or dual networks. It is barely logically thinkable even with either of those, as much as I'd also like to do it. You can't be two IPs because you normally only have one network card, or the external wireless card takes over. As old as this is... a roundup of facts, which are still true.
  11. Windows, I think I had gnash on Ubuntu, as only FF has flash support/normal download (did it ages ago, so I forget).
  12. Yeah, my only problem with Opera is the one of two plugins I need, Flash (the other being Java, which is a system wide thing even), about a third of sessions I try to go on youtube, it crashes. Latest version, happens less on Mac so far.Still, Opera ftw. Flash is a netscape plugin (as are most?), which FF is descended from, so Opera's only fault is cos of FF.
  13. New methods, research, even new chips may mean something. Intel and so on do more than just faster/smaller/closer/colder brains.
  14. As far as I've heard, that gap before Firefox still exists, Opera and Safari have the only stable (Opera wrongly calls it alpha, it's stabler than many beta/finished products I use) Acid3-passers, and various other things, mostly older.
  15. Heavily depends on how long ago, Opera really does take massive steps very often. Now, something like 2/3 of the top 150 FF plugins are in Opera by default. Nearly all of the rest are easy bookmarklets.
  16. I'd like something like those screenglasses, one of these then a small lightweight computer, like a mac mini when they add proper graphics, and use it on the train and so on.
  17. I think it needs to be "set_time_limit('5');", so the '' of one bit and the no space of the other.
  18. The first few hours were worse, not entirely sure what was even wrong. Now, it's nice, airy and new.
  19. Yeah.. now no real world trading, or any unbalanced trade is at all possible. Do quests to be able to trade more. No cheats at all.
  20. There were problems with it overheating, crashing in hot countries but it's been fixed for almost a year at least.
  21. Or GimpShop. I only got it yesterday and I already love it. Gimp's basic stuff, and price, and Photoshop's layout and plugins.
  22. I thought the thirds was where the horizon line goes.Nice pictures, mine are similary random and good.
  23. Can a 64 emulated OS access 3gb of ram and more than ~210mb of a graphics card?
  24. Actually, they should put the gpu in a corner, so it gets 3d cooling from vents, and it's easier to access. Just make/change the motherboard.
