You don't have to know hardly anything to post around here. You can post anything about what you know like about games or if you are interested in new technology you can post in the Technology section. Posting in the "Hot News" topic is pretty easy, just find an interesting news article and you can post a summary of it, what you think about it, and ask others what they think. Or if it is about something debatable you can post that in the Life Talk > Debates section. The Life Talk section is pretty good for that too because you can post about sports you like as well or experiences you've had. There are limitless possibilities as long as they follow the forum guidelines.

That's pretty scary but cool at the same time I guess. I guess it can tell when the patients start to not feel well at all and are starting to change. So I'll keep that cat next to me my whole life and then once it starts to run up against my leg I'll start to say my last words and what not. Pretty interesting how it can tell they are changing and close to death. That would be kind of odd if that was true but I guess people think he is showing compassion for them. I guess if they were to find what genes or whatever caused the cat to do this maybe they could reproduce more and see if that works too but if they only have 4 or less hours to live then not much can probably be done, especially at a nursing home but maybe call up relatives of that person to view them in their final hours.

Volunteer Sought To Be Stung By Jellyfish
Plenoptic replied to Plenoptic's topic in Science and Technology
The thing is though they are just compensating them with their own product. So unless you are looking to get stung by jellyfish just to get anti-jelly fish sunscreen that is still being used in research, then it may not be worth it. I was expecting like maybe a gift card or a bit of money but I guess not. They still have a few people though on the team and still days before the test date so I guess they'll probably have their crew of 10 in no time. -
Well for those of you in the Norway area of the world, if you are willing to help researchers at the University of Oslo test their anti-jellyfish sunscreen they are looking for volunteers. The people who volunteer will be asked to shave their arms before coming and on one arm will apply regular sunscreen and the anti-jellyfish sun screen on the other arm. They will then be stung by the jellyfish once on each arm to see if their product works I guess. There are a few requirements that can be read in the article. The funny thing is, you will be compensated for it with three bottles of their sun screen. I find this article rather humorous to see the researchers looking for a group of 10 people to willingly come to have themselves harmed. I guess it's for a scientific cause. They already have five people though so I guess they'll probably have their crew. I guess just because it sounds kind of odd is what makes it sound sort of funny. If their cream proves to be a success, would any of you purchase it? I don't think jelly fish stings are really all that common are they? I've played with jelly fish before with a shovel and stuff but haven't been stung by any. Article: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Payperpost A legit way to make money with your blog
Plenoptic replied to lekrissy's topic in Business Forum
That looks like a pretty decent way to make money. I haven't really read completely how to do it but the payout seems nice. The only problem is the payment plan. I am not 18 so I will not be able to use Paypal but I guess I'll wait until I am 18. Or I will show the site to my brother and see if he wants to try it. I think it's probably better worth your time than spending money to make money doing trial offers. -
This sounds pretty great. I like to write articles about things especially in science and technology. Maybe after a bit of practice I'll be able to apply and maybe make a bit of money off the sites. It's a good idea though, they get people looking for money and doesn't really have to advertise for writers because it travels by the word of mouth. Maybe after school starts and I can work out a regular schedule I'll be able to work my way in as a writer and maybe even worked up to a featured writer.

Filling out surveys or earning money by ads I think is the best way to go if you don't want to or can't offer a service online like web templates for a fee or anything. That may not get you $150 a week though. Maybe you could find a website that you could help out manage content or something for a small fee per week. It may not be $150 either but it all ads up. Look through the Make Money Online forum, there are many people who made posts in there how to make money. That's how I found my first survey site and I didn't go full blown out on it and made quite a bit of money.

I currently don't have an anti-virus program so a free one would be nice to have as protection. I've managed to keep my new laptop clean (as far as I know) since I got it back in March but there is always a day when you click the wrong button. From the main web page it says they recently registered their 30 millionth member which I think is pretty impressive, especially if they don't force you to register because that means there are many more users that didn't want to register. I am going to download this program and try it out.

It's always good to have a new member aboard. I'm sure you will learn a lot here, I have myself. You'll probably teach us a few things as well though too along the way. Earning free hosting is easy as long as you follow the rules displayed in the Xisto ReadMe (link in my signature). That is like the holy book of Xisto, follow the book's rules and all will be well. We like to have fun around here too, especially in the shout box. Hope you have fun. I can't wait to get to know you better. (Not meant to be in the freaky kind of way.)

What Does Your Username Mean? Your Trap17 name
Plenoptic replied to lekrissy's topic in General Discussion
Well when I joined my first forum about 4 years ago, looking for a name I decided to call myself Crazy Stunt Man. That was because at the time I pulled a lot of stupid stunts. Then when I realized eventually I spelled it wrong I started thinking of a new one. I had sort of outgrown the name anyway. I at the time wanted to make a graphics design site so I wanted something that sort of sounded graphics like. I was listening to Windows Media Player one day and saw the word Plenoptic being used as a visualizer. So I decided to use it. Ya it's weird but I like it and I use it for everything now. -
I checked them both as soon as I saw this post to test and see if I was having the same problem. Try restarting your browser and trying again.

I went into a few different Yahoo mail accounts. On one I checked my mail using the regular version and it worked fine and I signed out. I used another with the beta version, checked my mail. It worked fine as well and so did signing out. Maybe it was temporarily down or something for a little while because it is a beta version so they are still fixing bugs. I'd report it to Yahoo because if it is a problem with some people, they will want to be able to fix it.

Well I was browsing the web for news, and found an interesting video from National Geographic on how to survive a bear attack. Of course, they first said that if you are every walking around in the wilderness, make loud noises to let any bears in the surrounding areas to take note that you are there. Then they can check you out and won't be startled by you. When they are startled, that is what causes an attack. Although there is still the chance that you may be attacked, so what do you do? Well bears can run 35 miles per hour, so I'd avoid that choice, and considering they are a lot bigger and most likely stronger than you, fighting wouldn't be the best choice either because that'll probably anger them more. The key is to play dead. 1. Drop down to the ground and lay out on your stomach with your face in the dirt. 2. Place your hands over the back of your neck. This way your face is protected as well as your neck because the bear is going to come up and scratch you a few times but will lose interest when it thinks you are dead. I've never really thought of what to do in these types of situations other than run, because you wouldn't want to just sit there and get hurt but I guess it's better to get roughed up some rather than die. Edit: Forgot to post the link to the video: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

For all those who like to gaze at the stars or the moon, or even those who don't, on August 28th there is going to be a lunar eclipse. That means that the Earth is going to be in between the sun and moon casting a shadow over the moon. You will still see an orange glow around the moon which is what makes it cool. The article says that the west coast of North America will have the best view of the eclipse being able to see it the entire time period. Those in the eastern hemisphere will not see it August 28th early in the morning but rather in the evening of that day. I hope to have my digital camera by that day so I can hopefully get some good pictures with it. Depends though how it looks. I like gazing up at the sky sometimes and looking at the stars and eclipses are cool to see. Article: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Well I'm glad to hear they are trying to make a difference in the world. They are saving at least 10 tons of CO2 from going out into the atmosphere each year. As for the toilet paper ordeal, I'm sure they have cloth or something. If they have water they'll was it in there. Either way they can wash their hands well too. I'm not really gonna think about that ordeal. I wonder if they ever going on vacation or anything like that or do they ride a bicycle or something and go to a hotel in a different part of the city or something. Interesting to think about what life must be like.

America's Army's System Requirements What a joke
Plenoptic replied to 9block's topic in Computer Gaming
Yes, the system requirements keep getting worse and worse because with every version of America's Army, the harder it is on the system. I've upgraded my computer a few times so I am able to play America's Army. The first time was just a graphics card but then I got some free parts from a friend which was a better processor and motherboard so I was able to play even better on it. So now I should be OK to play it for quite some time. I think the game is worth it, although I don't play it much anymore. At least if you do upgrade, you'll be able to play most other games as well. -
Well I found lots of tutorial sites like the link I posted in my first post. But, I think this link may be what you are looking for. https://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/ It currently has 20 lessons and another under construction. Although, I think it'd probably be better to go and take a class somewhere or find a book at the library and use that to learn Java or buy a book or E-book instead. Hopefully this site will help you out some, I'm not sure how detailed it is.

Well if you are looking to learn JavaScript I'd recommend going here, http://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp That'll start to teach you things from the very beginning by example and also show you the syntax. Once you have the basics down, if you need help for writing a certain script, look for a tutorial on how to do it here http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/javascript/ You may even find some basic tutorials to help you learn how to do things there. For regular Java I can only point you to some basic tutorials at Pixel2Life. http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/java_development/ That will only really help you write certain scripts though.

I guess two men were using their metal detectors and it started to go off so they started to dig. They started to pull out one item after another. There were coins used as money from many different places from that period of time as well as silver chains and cups. There were a lot of things believed to have belonged to one of the heads of the Vikings because it was buried as if he was going to come back for it during war but might have died before he could return for it. They show all of the items in the video and there is a lot of interesting things there and it is all valued at 1 million pounds. All of these items can tell a lot about the past and how things worked back then. The coins from different areas show that they had an extensive merchant like system. The items are going to be sold to a museum or museums. You can find the video in here. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Yes, you are allowed to use PHP and MySQL on Xisto Servers. Just be careful with sharing videos. You better make sure they aren't copyrighted and protected from the copy of them because that'd make the use of them on your website illegal and that isn't allowed on Xisto. If they are your own or you are having people upload them that are their own then that's a different story. Videos can take up a bit of space as well and watching them could take up a bit of bandwidth so make sure you don't go over the limit allowed. Of course then you could upgrade to Xisto - Web Hosting, but that may not be necessary depending on how popular your site is.

Well if you take the stickiness of Gecko's feet that they use to climb up and down walls, and mix it with the glue like stuff mussels use to hold onto rocks and what not in the water, then you have Geckel. It's a new super glue in production, more like an adhesive that will be used for robots that explore underwater or other places. They will be able to climb rocks and walls. It can be used to stick on the wall and pulled off 1000 times before losing it's stickiness. The glue will also be able to close up wounds, and it'll be waterproof/liquid proof so if it's still bleeding maybe it'll close it up like stitches. They originally made it like gecko hairs to make it really strong, but they wanted it to be waterproof so they mimicked the proteins of the mussel stickiness, which reduced the strength of the adhesive but it still works great. I wonder if that means we will be able to climb up walls or if it won't work on our own skin. That'd be pretty cool though, you'd be able to climb up and get all the stuck balls on the roof of the gym. I kind of doubt it'd be able to be used by us though because it could take a lot of strength to rip our hands off the wall and what if it pulls off our skin instead? Could be dangerous. Still seems really interesting despite the fact though and could be put to great use. Link to the Article: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Well, I figured I mine as well make the post for the book. I know Albus is probably reading it considering his screen name is named after the former character. Anyway, I've read a few articles about it and have heard that people are pretty satisfied with the ending. The storyline has changed so much as Harry has grown older. I've also read though that there is lots of death occurring throughout the book, but of course I guess that is part of the name. I purchased my copy last night and have started reading chapter one. Please post what you think of it but if you are going to post spoilers use the hide feature. I think it's OK so far but of course I haven't read much, but it seems that there has been so much hype about this book for years and now it has finally come to an end. I have been reading them since they first came out and knew there was going to be 7 books, now all we'll have to look forward to is the movies and maybe prequels about Harry's parents. Notice from BuffaloHELP: Topic description added as per request.

Well it may be that you are trying to use formats that Microsoft doesn't support for Windows Media Player because I have had some problems. What type of music format are you trying to play? I know that .avi doesn't work in there. Most people download another media player to play the formats that Windows' won't work with. If it's regular files you are trying to play that won't work then try re-downloading the program.

Think I've Perfected It Please Review! DailyRant
Plenoptic replied to Jimmy's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I really like this website. The design is really nice, the colors fit in well and the Java Script drop down box is really cool. I think it looks professional but still fun/cool at the same time. The side navigation is a plus because sometimes people don't notice that there is a drop down box they just look at the top links, or if for some reason the drop down box doesn't work they can always use the side navigation. I haven't seen the site before now so I don't know how much it has improved but I think it looks really decent right now. I can't see any improvements need at the moment.
