  1. Any of you guys ever happen to stumble upon BrainBoost.com? Well, quite simply, BrainBoost... has a brain - well, not really, but it is probably the smartest serach engine out there. Source: BrainBoost.com However, with what seems to be such a revolutionary technology (at least, "search-engine - wise"), there are some flaws. For instance, many times one will notice upon recieving the results, that many of THOSE results are actually just vias or illrelevant returns. Still, in the scheme of things, it is better than it is worse, and, with enough time, it may have the capabilities to see the fame that Google has seen.
  2. lol, more like, "I was led 'ASTRAYHOST' by their misleading title".(Oh, and ditto for me on the "no offense" thing; seriously, you guys are cool in my book.)
  3. For who this may concern, for the purpose of keeping this forum clean, I will be as least touchy as possible, as I mean to keep all my friends and hopefully not lose any chances of gaining new ones. Please don't criticize, and understand my point of view. I am a scientologist; I have been all my life. Throughout my experience in Scientology (which is a whole of 15-some years), I have yet to encounter any situation whereupon someone truthful and WITH Scientology 1) banned someone from the some part of the religion or whole without a "without a doubt", and I mean "without a doubt" reason and with just cause. 2) No significant Scientologist has ever killed some other Scientologist, significant or not, for leaving, attempting to leave, or making someone leave - never. I can surely say that no one in truthfully with Scientology has ever purposely hurt anyone else in Scientology, either leaving, attempting to leave, or making someone else leave. I ask that before you attempt to renounce my religion, read up on it. Find out about it. Trust me, you will NOT be killed . In any case, I have enough knowledge in my own religion that I can take any questions one might have. Make sure the question is valid and not far out. Also, I'm just gonig to disregard rants because, for the sake of religion, I don't think it's fair to renounce any religion and thusly, I don't do so. So, any questions?
  4. My review of Xisto, soley and as compared to other hosting sites: Personally, I think Xisto.com is an incredible hosting site. Before this time, I had not yet come upon such a hosting site whereupon the only necessities for one to earn a FREE hosting account (with good specs, if I might add) was to simply stay active in their forums. In general, I like interactivity and have no problems posting in forums which interest me. However, upon that you have great stipulations and, once met, are not hard to maintain. Concerning the hosting aspect: Wonderful. Great. I'm actually slightly befuddled by the sheer amount of options from which one can toggle and control -. I'm still getting used to it! In any case, I have no complaints with the hosting aspect of Xisto. If you have some problem, check the F.A.Q.; if you have a question or comment, post in the forums or PM some "significant other". One really can't not get used to AstaHosting. Rating: 4/5 Stars ================ Concerning the forums aspect: Well, forums are forums; you have a nice skin, good topics and a crowd and you've just whipped up a recipe for success. As such, I can't really rant on how great the forums are - I will, however, state that Xisto forums get my recommendation. Besides the technical aspect, the moderators and admin actually frequent the forums and are helpful (moonwitch, vujsa, OpaQue, mastercomputers [he's not admin or mod, but damn, how many posts?!]). There are many "guide topics", and it can't take one long to accustom himself/herself with the board. Probably my ONE and ONLY consideration/complaint: I've been noticing lately as I browse the forums some "suggestive" ads. What are you guys doing there at Xisto Central? I really like Xisto, and I would like Xisto even more if Xisto kept a clean image; hence, no ads which are, quite frankly, arousing. Other than that, kudos and Mazel Tov because you guys there at Xisto have made a really good thing - run with it. Rating: 4.5/5 Stars ================ My own note: I'm serious, guys, consider getting rid of those ads - yes, yes, I know about revenue and "per-clicks" markets and things like that, but at least try different "revenue" and different "per-clicks".
  5. Moonwitch; vujsa, you better close this topic quick - it's looking to me like this will either be a flame war or a spam fest. In any case, Stusrud, great on your own hosting site; ease up a bit. Cube Domain, we all know you want to be moderator keep that sort of posting up and - who knows?!Looking out for your back, HTML_Guru
  6. Wow... what a program... I can only imagine that there might be flaws with it though; while the internet doesn't make mistakes, teachers can - especially with such a touchy subject. My main thought on it is this: I don't plagarize and don't ever plan to plagarize. I have enough intelligence (about 130 of the stuff) and enough imagination to create my own works rather than to to take it from something else. The ONLY thing I might have trouble on is if, for instance, I use some text or material for reasoning, source, etc, but I forget to cite. I've rarely worked on some material where it was necessary for me to 1) quote or use some material NOT my own, and, 2) thusly cite it. In other words, I gots nothin' to worry 'bouts...
  7. You know what - this is the thing with Runescape: you have to get past the "boring" part. I've played it for some time (I don't play anymore; upgraded to Guild Wars), and I know that it is annoying getting past the tutorial, then learning where everything is, and even getting friends who will help you - it is certainly not the best aspect of the game. BUT, once you achieve that point, it gets better. I found myself restarting another account knowing I would have full knowledge of what to do and where to go and what levels to work, etc. So, it was fun to begin with.I kid you not, I know some people who are ADDICTED to that game; sure, in the beginning, they were confused, needing help - now, pfhh, they know more than I do and probably have played triple, no, quadruple the amount of time I've played. So, I suppose to each their own...I rate this game, oh... 8 out of 10 because it is a good, solid, free MMORPG, and you don't find many of those nowadays.
  8. And to think, Google was started by some two college nerds with a dream... a dream to index every site on the web! You can only guess their quotas nowadays: "Listen guys, we're looking at taking over the Eastern Hemisphere - how's that sound to the lot of 'ya?" "Yeah, yeah, sounds good to me." "Seems kinda simple, that's all." "Pfhh, that's nothing!" Yeah... well, in any case, kudos to Google, and damn, I wish I could have been one of those nerds... just a shame I'm NOT a nerd, I guess.

    Post Count

You mean have your post count checked? If that's the case - not necessary; you can find it at the Xisto Forums homepage of your account. Should be near the top.Second thing, no, you are in the COMPLETELY wrong place to check, well, anything.
  10. Here's my input: For a beginning HTML writer, use Stone's WebWriter. While the US version is slightly outdated, it is a great beginner's tool - and it's entirely free (you can even register a Freeware version for it). Pros: Basic HTML templates; pre-made HTML pages with basic codes already inserted (HTML, HEAD, TITLE, BODY, etc.). {Also comes with: glossary templates, "page has moved" templates, frames templates} Tag Support; when making tags, the program will bring a list of tags to choose from, further helping to create a simple workspace. Preview; the ability to preview your HTML in a browser - so you can fiddle with HTML and see your result. META Tag Toggle: With enough experience, you will soon be able to use the meta tag insertion which comes with variables which you can define. Cons: Truly, I would say the only con is that the US version (it's a Danish company) is outdate, to a degree. However, the only reason I say that is because I have begun using XHTML myself and notice a few problems with trying to mesh that with Stone's WebWriter. For instance, the tags will often come already CAPPED, which is noncompliant in XHTML. You can find the download for this wonderful program at: Stone'sWebWriter.com ===================== As for a good hosting website (free), I would say Bravehost.com. Now, before everyone goes haywire of what I said on Xisto, realize this: I'm saying that only because Bravehost has predesigned easy to install CSS templates, and Low-experience editors. Whereas Xisto is a bit of a step up. In this fellow's case, Bravehost might serve as a good tool. That, and the fact that they have many HTML, Javascript and CSS tools which you can easily add to your site, heightening it's "entertainment level". Bravehost is completely free, but there are Premium benefits. ===================== If you need more help, ask and I'll be happy to assist.
  11. One: I wasn't talking to you; I was directing my comments to the two users before me; Two: Just because the thread is old does in no way mean there will any more jokes and; Three: I was simply trying to keep a happy flow among anyone this concerned. You're too literal... try and get the figurative way of things, and it might make sense. In any case, I like your site; nice layout! (I suck at CSS!)
  12. Ok, so why don't you ask? What you two were actually doing was nothing more than being critical (criticizing) about his inability to fully state the joke; where in all actuality he told you his translation would be bad. The fact of the matter is is that he may have attempted to answer it but to no avail. In any case, don't be so sadistic about is and just ask the guy - that usually works... Oh, and keep the jokes comin'.
  13. Anyone ever heard of The Twisted Wish Game?! It's the forum game that's sweeping the nation! ... actually, it's not sweeping the nation, but I do like the game, and bet you will too. The Rules and Guidelines: To begin, I will post my wish; this can be WHATEVER. I mean it - it doesn't matter. Go wild. Once I have made my wish, the next person to reply will thusly TWIST my wish - in other words, make some cockamamy story to make my wish go awry. Afterwards, he posts his own wish... and the cycle continues. On posting wishes, don't make them too obscene and dom't make them idiotic to try to prove your intelligence - have fun with it. When you twist a wish, it's much better if you actually twist a wish, showing how it occurs, etc. Saying, "you almost get your wish but then your head pops off" just won't cut it. And there you go. I will not start the game with the first wish: I wish for cheese fondue. (A note to the Mods: if this thread is in the wrong location, feel free to move it as you so please!)
  14. This is still a discussion?! No doubt about it, Gmail is the best e-mail provider out there. I use Gmail myeslf - obviously, or I wouldn't be making such extreme accusations, and the fact is, Gmail rocks.Pros: OVER 2 GB space; no need to delete - ever. Very clean layout; nothing obtrusive or annoying. "Intelligent" Ads; Google Ads made to match your current search, e-mail, etc - also, very unobtrusive. Import Contacts; move your contacts from your earlier e-mail provider to Gmail in a jiffy!Cons: Like I've said before, you feel bad that you don't pay them for such a service. So, there's my review - yes, my review; as in, I just did it.You like?
  15. C'mon, give the guy a break; you can obviously tell he speaks little fluent English and had to translate the joke. Just try to guess what he might mean - otherwise, you really can't do much else...
  16. Hmm... I don't have a son. Do you know something I don't?!... (Excuse my spam - if it is one; if it's not; this doesn't apply)
  17. Sorry; I still have to put my input in this... The fact of the matter is this - to assume that there is no other life except life here on Earth is an idiotic assumption - simply put. By default, to even assume we are the only lifeforms in the galaxy is ridiculous. What makes on think that Earth is only world with living inhabitants?!From what I see, assuming that life only exists on Earth is nothing more than being illresponsible - to assume such allows you (in your mind) to be "safe" from anything else that may potentially harm you.I noticed someone else posted about this, and he makes perfect sense: the Bible WAS and HAS been written by humans - over AND over again - each time to justify the modern problems of the world as some divine mock-up. I could not say that in the beginning, the Bible was not of factual, actual scripture - and it may have held truth - but you find now that the Bible has been edited and changed so many times it can no longer be held as credentially as it was.In any case, yes, I believe in other life forms in other planets. You have to look at it in such a way: they are only aliens in our eyes; they are only "life forms". Why can't one the capacity to assume that in the eyes of aliens living in other planets see us as the same?!I leave you with that, and if I could, and you (as in whoever reads this) could understand or have a broader view, this might be of some sense...
  18. Oh boy... I don't even know if I want to attempt to explain my opinion to you (as in anyone looking at this).I will say this: I don't believe in the Human evolution from apes... or anything for that matter. Also, I don't believe in a God RIGHT NOW that grants miracles and gives life and so on and so forth. So you have to wonder, what might my view be on the matter. It's as such: do anyone of you have the capacity to believe that perhaps humans are in charge of themselves. Maybe in the first place there was no evolution, but in the first place SOME supreme being created life. Obviously SOME supreme being would have had to.Through both the views of God and evolution, I think that both were essentially created as they are now to justify some form of illresponsibility. Why couldn't we just be repsonsible? Us, ourselves... not God or evolution.
  19. How come what? How come Gmail is still Beta? How come Gmail no longer allows anyone to sign up directly? Simply put, there was a beta-testing occuring; obviously, the point was to see how many sign-ups and registers occured and move from there. Now, the beta-testing for sign-ups are done and they probably want to see how the users prefer it. That, and they probably notice how many invites are occuring. But other than that, you might as well beg for someone to invite you... It's like an Gmail Club bouncer - hehe...
  20. Yeah; I agree - the 1st posted is the best. It flows more, the size is adequate, and even without images, the layout is very nice. I've been trying a bit of CSS, but I find it to be very difficult. I just stick to HTML and XHTML, which I happen to be rather proficient at. Nonetheless, keep up the good work!
  21. Hehe... I actually remember seeing this on the News somewhere when the prank first surfaced. And no, it wasn't Google itself - apparently, some fiends managed to revise the crawler code (not sure if I'm using the correct jargon) so that when the word failure is typed in, well, you see the results. As a matter of fact, the below is the source from which I first found out about it. Source: BBC News - World Edition; ONLINE: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3298443.stm Dated: Dec. 7, 2003 Either way, props to those guys. I didn't/don't really care for either candidate and now the 1 president, so this was a bit of a chuckle for me.
  22. Hehe; don't worry about it. You have to understand, I'm just as confused as you are. I figured I should just try and find a thread most relevant to my question, so I chose this one.Oh, and I took your advice; I e-mailed OpaQue with a rather detailed query about what exactly happened - hopefully things get straightened in some way...BTW, you're in Tampa? How'd the hurricane treat you there? I'm in Palm Harbor or Clearwater most of the time, so in any case we didn't get much here.
  23. I understand that; my purpose was not to debate on a similar subject - I simply noticed something that was out and figured I'd query it. If what you say is true, then it would be a different discussion but nonetheless on the same basis. In any case, I would appreciate a reply on what happened. As I said, if it was somehow found to be that I spammed, I won't mind taking the time to get my credits up and running for a new account. However, I would just like to know that that is necessary before I take the time to do so.Thanks again!
  24. The same occured with me; I attempted to login to Xisto hosting account, but after I forgot my password, I reset it and checked my e-mail only to find that I had gotten an e-mail days earlier saying that my account had been suspended. Now, from last I checked, I hadn't spammed at all, and all in all, I was good with the rules. Don't get me wrong, if I did spam, someone say something do I don't regret working the points back up for another account, but I'd like to be sure that that is neccessary first. Oh, and I still had and have over 6 days of credits left.Thank-you for your time.
  25. If you've played any of the Mario game titles, you know just how fun handling a small plumber that kicks major *** can be! But now, they've upped the ante and you can play with many characters in the new vesion of Mario Power Tennis, and let's just say, they're all "tennis-savvy".The game is as-is: you can choose a character, customize the rules/playing a bit, and off you go, either against a computer or actual player. And then you start playing - you lob the ball and send it flying over - but the opponent flies it back... then you swing, he takes a shot and... YOU DO A POWER CYCLONE SHOT AND SEND THE BALL FLYING... yeah. You make your first point, and you're hooked. You would not believe how much fun it is running back and forth, to and fro, just to get a small yellow bal and every now-and-then do some special at what seems to be unvoluntary. If you like whacking things around, try Mario Power Tennis for Nintendo Gamecube.
