  1. It depends on what you are using for generating the html. If you are using frontpage you can slect the target while you are creating the link. If you make your html in a text editor linke notepad. You have to watch in index.html what's the name of your window. In the link you can then use that name in the parameter target. Ex. <HTML> <FRAMESET ROWS="120,*"> <FRAME SRC="navi.html" NAME="navigationframe"> <FRAME SRC="start.html" NAME="mainframe"> </FRAMESET> </HTML> The source of the link : <A HREF="vb-b.html" TARGET="navigationframe">Example b</A>
  2. The above is almost right.10 Mbit/s = 1,25 MB /s = 1 280 KB/s100 Mbit/s = 12,5 MB/s = 12 800 KB/s1000 Mbit/s = 125 MB/s = 128 000 KB/sThose speed are linerate there are you (loose) some speed with : - IP headers and others overhead like checksums , .... - Windows that reserves some bandwith on the connection for internet and so. So I should say that your connection works fine.Check the length of your cable there is a minimum distance of the cable. For Cat 6 this minimum length is longer then for Cat5.For Gigabit is cat 5 (or Cat 5e) mostly enough. And if you use your connection to copy some data between 2 PC's there is also the limition of the hard drive. To solve this you have to use a RAID array with several drives.

    Norton Ghost 10.0

I use Norton ghost 9.I use it for 2 things : a complete image of my startup partition (like a recover CD/DVD). So I can restore my system in about 15 or 30 minutes.A backup of my data partition. You have several possibilities for doing a backup. But with some files like explorer.exe it's hard to recover your system from a failure.
  4. Most of the time a slow computer has problems with the amount of RAM(the HD led is almost contantly in use because of the use of the swap file). The reason can be several things :- a virus or spyware program that eats free memory.- a fragmented swap file.- a full hard drive. If you have only 256MB and you are running Windows XP, it's better that you upgrade to 512MB or 768MB, the price of memory is not that high these days.

    C&c Server

I've played RA2 and Yuri's revenge online. There is still the built in server (works good but there are not many people online)Alternative is XWis (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ )
  6. Other pakkets I've tried are :IPCOP (http://www.ipcop.org/)Clarkconnect (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/)Smoothwall (http://www.smoothwall.org/).All those have a free and a paid version but require more hardware. The install wit a GUI in a browser window.
  7. I've already done that with several computers. Some pakkets you could use : FreeSCO http://www.freesco.org/ (does not need big hardware , easy to install) fli4l (German, good package many settings and addon but no easy to install) http://www.fli4l.de/
  8. What about your RAM ?Is see it uses Dual Channel memory are there 2 RAMS plugged in and are they identical ?An other option is do a full reset (with the jumper on the mainbord) of the BIOS.
  9. I liked this games but haven't played it since Red Alert 2 came out.
  10. I had the same problem , and I solved it with a new video card.My old card was a Geforce MX 440 (pretty old). With a CRT no problems. With a 17" LCD there was a ghost image on it.Try to plug it in on an other (more recent) computer.
  11. Is 'hyperthreading' activated in your bios ?Win98 doesn't like hyperthreading, it only supports 1 processor.
  12. For trying you also download a live CD. Then you just boot your PC with the CD and you can work in linux. If you don't like , you just have to remove the CD and there is windows again. A distribution like knoppix works fine on most computers on the site http://www.knoppix.org/ you can download the cd.
  13. Overclocking is not that simple. In the specs you can find normally the FSB and the multiplier, but I can't find an Athlon XP 2300 on the amd site . with the program http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html you can find the current settings of your proc. The only 'safe' thing to do is place the FSB a bit higher (like 5% max 10%). But that will not solve your problem, I think. This can be done in the BIOS of your motherboard. If you have money enough for watercooling, The price for an Athlon 64 2800+ , a new motherbord and a some RAM is only a bit more but works always faster then your proc. The computers witch are more then 20% overclocked are only for demo purpose. Not for playing games because they are not stabele for hours.
  14. An other option is install an extra computer with linux to work as router. The are a few distributions witch can handle this job. freeSCO : http://www.freesco.org/ IPCOP : http://www.ipcop.org/ Not sure they all can hanle a 56k dial up. Here most computers have broadband connection.
  15. I use WinRAR, works for most archives. There are a few free programs withc are getting better like 7-zip.For Zip archives , i use 7-zip i.s.o. WinZip.
