  1. I hope they don't find oil if they ever do get to Mars or anywhere else. Its time for us to move to an alternative fuel source, one that doesn't cause so much pollution. I am no environmentalist, but if any of you guys have ever been in a tall building in Houston Downtown and looked outside the window at dusk, you would know what I mean. The smog is immense, it gets so bad you can look down a street and follow it with your eyes. Eventually you won't be able to see it anymore, not because its too far away, but because there is a brown mist blocking your view.
  2. I have used Avast for years and I love it.Automatic updates, automatic scans.Has web shield, instant message shield, network shield, email shield, p2p shield, and of course the regular passive scanner going.I've gone to web pages and while they are loading avast pops up a message saying it detected a virus was downloaded, and asks me to delete it and I do and i leave web page, do a scan on computer to make sure, no viruses, and everything is fine. And thats just the free home edition, i can't even imagine what kind of functionality the professional edition must haveHeck it even has a Virus Recovery Database that passivly backs up files, and if they ever become infected it has a back-up ready for you.I love the software and highly recommend it.I used AVG a few years back and I didn't like it either. I then found avast and have stayed with it since.
  3. Everyone complains about how how much malware and stuff gets into Windows PC's.If a more then average computer user uses windows for a long time they really shouldn't have much spyware at all.Spyware and MalWare comes from clicking on emails you don't know who is from, going to bad sites, clicking on advertisements, and using Internet Explorer.I use firefox, avast antivirus, and zonealarm firewall. I never get spyware, viruses or anything.Of course I have my computer to scan for viruses, malware and spyware once a week, and stuff but I never get anything and I am on the internet 24/7 with a broadband connection. Its not that Windows is completely unsafe its just people who don't know any better unknowingly exploit Windows weaknesses.I think Windows is great software. Yes I am well aware of its many security holes and all that other crap but as long as you pair it up with a solid virus scanner, firewall, and a browser other then Internet Explorer most of its problems are fixed.Microsoft releases new security updates every week, and I am sure they are working every day to find and fix as many as they can, but with an operating system as massive as windows, its impossible to fix them all.Someone used a car analogy earlier in this thread well its not the car your driving ( windows) thats unsafe, it is whoever is driving and controlling the car. Sure you can have a piece of crap, but put a good driver behind it and your fine.
  4. No Java Web Start does not have to be installed on people's compturers. The Web Server you have the file on just has to be configured to handle the file properly. The way it works is it downloads and executes your JARS to the users computer. All they need is a compatitble JRE for your program.
  5. no, they probably are just expecting people to be commonly using higher resolutions
  6. How do i make Java Web Start work?IN my web site wen i click on the java web start link all it does is show the contents of my jnlp filein the MIME types i have added thisapplication/x-java-jnlp-fileunder extension jnlpapplication/x-java-archive-diffunder extension jardiffi hav read everywhere on the web this is wut you are suposed to do but its still not workingi also added the exact same things to the apache handler but that dint work eitheranyone know what to do?
  7. If this is the case then you should include a JRE that is compatible with your software when you sell it. If the program you have written needs to be installed on the users PC, in the installer you can write a script to detect to see if they have a JRE installed. If they don't you can have that installer pause and have it automatically open the installer for the JRE that you included. You should try and do something crafty like this. Also most computers come with a JRE installed now. If you look around at desktops being selled that come preinstalled with windows and other packages, almost all of them will have some version of a JRE installed, its pretty standard since so much of the web uses Java.
  8. Ahh thanks alot, i googled it and found what i was looking for, thanks
  9. There is already a GBrowser. Another company owns it, its some kind of mac software I think. The Real GBrowser - Info Page I read an article released by Google saying they have no current plans to design a web browser. I'll post a link to it if I can find it again. Sorry for the bad news but I felt I should squash the rumor before too many people read this topic.
  10. Astahost is the best i have every found. When you take a look at all the services and CPANEL, it looks like its a paid hosting service, with everything professionally done. But its not paid, its free.I'm hosted with Xisto right now and I can tell you all its worth it. It truly is like having a paid service. The forums thing they have going is a great idea. I've gotten a lot of questions answered about my programming and stuff.
  11. Ok so what about this.I heard that once an object reaches the speed of light, it becomes light itself. ( Correct me if I'm wrong ) , and just so you know, my whole question is based on that assumption. Now that I have said that.Lets say we have an object with a positive mass. This object speeds up by some force and eventually reaches the speed of light. Now that it has reached the speed of light it has become light itself. Now, since light cannot have mass, where would the mass of this object have gone? Wasn't it Einstein that said mass could not be created nor destroyed?Or does the light actually have mass. Or maybe all the mass turned into energy, which would be displayed in wavelengths of the light, which would make the light different colors for different amounts of mass or something.Once the object slows down below the speed of light, does it regain its mass and its original properties?I don't know, and one of you guys probably know an answer, or a good explanation. This is one of those things that have always been stuck on my mind but never really found someone to answer it.
  12. I agree, I tried using Dev-C++ for a while and the compiler kept saying alot of standard libraries were deprecated and it was having alot of trouble reading my code for the longest time i thought it was me and i kept looking online for what i was doing wrong until i finally tried antoher compiler and realized that the compiler that comes with Dev was a bad compiler
  13. No i think they are really gone lolIN my CPANELLike the words "PostgreSQL" disappeared from the General Account InformationThe button for it is gone, the PHP admin for it is gone, the count on how many im using is gonemy cpanel looks like it basically never had PostgreSQLlike the option to have them isn't there or anythingits not a problem, i was only using 1 postgresql database, and ive already easily configured the program using it to a mysql database and no harm has been done and i dint have any data that i losti dont kno the difference between the 2 and it doesnt matter to me which one i have so im not like worried about getting it back or ne thingit was just weird, and i felt like saying sumtin in case any1 else had the problem and dint speak up
  14. freakin sweet manmy downloads are going a little bit faster but i have noticed HUGE differences on my pings in online multiplayer games like counter strikethanks alot for the info

  16. Firefox has so many extensions and is so much easier to use, i dont think IE will ever catch upand after all the security holes IE6 had, im sure the new IE will fix all of those and create twice as much new security holes
  17. from wut ive heard thats extremely hard, expecially since your internet is slow to begin with, since you dont have very much bandwidth to go around in the first place
  18. yea you need these imports already for this: import javax.swing.*;import java.applet.*;import java.awt.*;import java.awt.event.*; yea basic io import is import java.io.*; and of course you probably ganna need the utility at some point import java.util.*;
  19. I think JSmooth has an option to include the JVM and even if it doesnt im sure a program out there does, gooogle for one, im sure some1 has made 1 along the way you cant be the only 1 with this problem
  20. The way i use is a program called JSmoothdont know the website but you can just goooogle itIt takes all the class files and packages them in an exe file, and when executed searches for the JVM, so you still need to have the JVM on the users computer, but it also has an option to include the JVM ( that would be a big file )anyways check it out, might suit your needs as long as ur programs arent too big....note: i think there is a big in there, you might have to put all ur class files in jar files and have it read them from the jar file for it to work correctly, you might even have to set up the manifest in the jar file to make it be able to execute as a jar if you want it to execute as an exe, not sure though you should test around with it
  21. Actually Arrays.sort() should work with any primitive data type int, double, char, byte as long as its an array of a primitive data types it should be able to sort it correctly it will not sort objects of primitives ( Integer, Double ) you must use the primitive type by the way if you were wondering wut sort Arrays.sort() uses i think its the Merge Sort
  22. I have a TI-83 Plus I got all my games from this web site http://www.ticalc.org/ It is mostly for tools and programs for the ti calculators but it also has alot of games. The best way to do this is get an OS on your calculator ( I use Mirage ) and it plays all Mirage games, able to store high score and stuff, and you don't have to unarchive your games to use them.
