.net Framework Backward Compatibility ?
dhanesh1405241511 replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Programming
Hell yeah it did ! Thanks. I tried to explain my problem how much i could, but when u cant explain in words then its kinda hard to get an answer for your problem. Glad you understood.RegardsDhanesh. -
If i made an application in VB .NET 2005 would i be able to open the compiled EXE on a computer NOT having VB .NET 2005 ? Do i need Framework 2.0 installed to open any application i make in VB 2005 ?If i use the Windows SDK for Vista that had Framework 3.0 would i be able to open it on a computer that has Framework 1.1 installed ? In short, is my application compatible on computers that have no Framework 2.0 or 3.0 installed ? If not then other than installing Framework 2.0 or 3.0, how would i be able to run my applications. The reason i am asking this is that i created a test application in VB 2005 and it worked fine on mine (compilation and running the EXE directly from the bin folder .. both), i took the EXE file in the bin folder to my faculty's computer who had VB 2003 installed, and it didnt work there. It showed an error box with lots of text (didnt quiet bother reading), I'll post what exactly it was, but if anyone got what i am trying to explain here .. i would be happy to hear your solution to this problem of mine.RegardsDhanesh.

Heya folks, i am back again with my annoying questions I have this project to submit by the 7th of may and i am really desperate for some help here. I will put my questions in numbers so it would be easy for you to solve them without confusion. 1) Earlier in a post i had asked if i could create Vista compatible applications in VB .NET 2005. Well i got a good response and i went ahead and installed the needful, but i still think something is wrong. Not that i know alot of whats going on around me here, but something just doesn't seem right. This is what i did: a) Installed VB .NET 2005 (Full), and updated it via windows update. So everything is pretty much updated. Went to the microsoft site and downloaded Microsoft® Windows® Software Development Kit for Windows Vista⢠and .NET Framework 3.0 Runtime Components from >>HERE<<. The full ISO and not the web setup. c) Popped in the DVD and autostarted the installation, which was completed normally like any other installation. d) I went under All Programs > Microsoft Windows SDK > Visual Studio Registration .. and selected Integrate Windows SDK with Visual Studio 2005. After this it showd me 2 alert boxes that said it would change the include, lib and global settings of VS C++ and another one that said Windows SDK VC++ include, lib and global settings successfully updated. I didnt get any alert saying VB .NET so i am just a little confused about the whole thing of installing the SDK. If anyone can spare the time, and tell me how to install from the start with the things i have or what more to download, then that would be really helpful at this point. 2) Secondly, i ran through a slight problem with the database in VB 2005. I went to Server explorer and added a New Data Connection .. everything went fine till the "test connection" part and it shows in the Server Explorer. Now in VB 2003 the next step would be to add a Data Adapter. In VB 2005 i cant tend to find this option. The options under data are, DataSet, DataGridView, BindingSource and BindingNavigator. As far as i have learned, we have to add a data connection > then add a data adapter > then finally add a DataSet so updating and editing or records can be accomplished. Please correct me if i am wrong anywhere and Hope to see some replies soon Regards Dhanesh.

I have -11 negative credits, and i understand that my website address would point to an "Account Suspended Page" , but is it normal that i cant sign in to my cPanel ? The website http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ shows me a Suspended accounts page, so i am under the impression that my account is still intact (I think below -30 would completely banish my account) but i never reached that point. Is it something to do with the recent change or its just my credits ? Regards Dhanesh.

Ubuntu Installation Help !
dhanesh1405241511 replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Websites and Web Designing
To be honest, the only reason why i am even using windows is because of the project i have this end sem. I had SuSE installed for almost 3 mths and have started to know the workings of linux pretty much. Well not THAT much, but just the basics. So wanted to give ubuntu a try as they say its faster and more friendly. The reason i choose Ubuntu was because of its latest build. The latest build detects all my Hardware, except for one lol.But all in all, it solved the startup problems i had with previous versions of ubuntu. I want to clean format windows and reinstall it anyways, so before i do that i wanted to test everything here. But just to make shure i dont go wrong anywhere, i am a little freeky about doing things without consulting :ph34r:Will try what you've told on the weekend or when i have the time and will let you kow how far i've come.RegardsDhanesh. -
Ubuntu Installation Help !
dhanesh1405241511 replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Websites and Web Designing
That helps and makes sense too. I actually created the F: just to show it existed, i could just remove the F: and leave it as an unpartitioned space. Hmm, ok lol now i am thinking. Leme remove the F: partition and change it to "unpartitioned" leme see how ubuntu reads it. Thankx for the Ups ! Regards Dhanesh. -
Ubuntu Installation Help !
dhanesh1405241511 replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yes, well i assumed that the sda7 would be the F: partition, so a second confirmation is good . There is no data in F:, the 99% you see is the free space. But yes the rest of the drives like D: and E: have stuff in them . I aint that concerned with C: as such. Will back up everything on a DVD tho before i get my hands dirty. I selected the last option "Manual" and it landed me to the screenshot 3. So as you suggested i will partition the F: drive before hand and then move on. But just to be shure This is how my partition will look like: F: 15GB Total Partitioned as: F: 10GB , G: 2.5GB , H: 2.5GB So G: and H: can be used as swap and root. I dont know how much should a swap or root take, but in my knowledge a swap would take larger amount. Please correct me if i am wrong. Hope this config is rite to install. Then comes the point of setting a swap and root and main install directory manually, which i will again come and ask . I feel that suse has a easier partitioning s/w than ubuntu. Wonder when they'll make one like that for guys like me. I think it has grub, so i guess i would install windows first and then go for installing ubuntu. What say ? For guys like me , it kinda gets annoying when they tend to make things easier and then stuff it up, but well i feel its better for ppl like me when it comes to starting off from scratch. Wont virtual machine just let you install on the existing partition and let u use it there ? because the live cd does the same thing. Just a doubt, does virtual machine let you install on different partitions or resize or recreate partitions, that would be awsome then. Regards Dhanesh. -
I am pretty well satisfied with SuSE linux, but wanted to give ubuntu a try. While installation i came accross the partition selector. While in SuSE it is easy to understand, here in ubuntu its kinda hard. The first screen of partition is shown below .. But To start off, see my HDD partition status. Its a 100GB HDD with the partitions as follows: If i select the 3rd option of doing it manually, it shows me all these detected: What do i have to do if i want to install ubuntu on my 4th partition (F:), thats the 15GB one. And how does it automatically resize the partition for root etc. SuSE seems to be far more easier if these options cant be found here. Bottomline is that i need to install ubuntu on the F: partition (15GB), and have a dual boot with windows xp on the C: Is this possible ? And if possible could someone giude me through the steps of acomplishing this. Regards Dhanesh.

Google's Annual April Fools Pranks
dhanesh1405241511 replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Lol, i kinda liked the TISP version of the april fools prank. Frankly i was prompted to click the clink on the google page because it said "FREE" lol, not realizing the fact that it was the month of fools .. Here are a few other sites that feasted on the April fools prank show. LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK <- My Fav LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK Source: Neowin.net Regards Dhanesh. -
I have to agree with chesso. I guess 95% of the time i use VLC, cause i normally am a brightness & contrast adjusting freek as well as i cant tend to get a good effect of the audio on WMP. Guess the most needed video playback tools for anyone would be: VLC, WMP or WMP Classic (and a codec pack ) Regards Dhanesh.

Programming In Vb .net, Vista Compatible ?
dhanesh1405241511 replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Programming
Thanks for your prompt reply livingston. I am downloading the versions as we speak but my inquisitiveness is on why are there 2 files of the same name with different file sizes. Probably one could be old and other new, but both are released on the same day Regards Dhanesh. -
Programming In Vb .net, Vista Compatible ?
dhanesh1405241511 replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Programming
I just downloaded the Microsoft Windows Software Development Kit for Windows Vista and .NET Framework 3.0 Runtime Components package and these are the details of it: File Name: 6.0.6000.0.0.WindowsSDK_Vista_rtm.DVD.Rel.img Version: 6.0 Date Published: 11/4/2006 Download Size: 1187.5 MB Hope this is the latest version of the SDK available. Please link me to a more recent version if one exists. I am also currently downloading ORCAS, but it is this version: Microsoft Pre-release Software Visual Studio Code Name "Orcas" - January Community Technology Preview (CTP) (Installable Bits) Version: 1.0 Date Published: 1/19/2007 Language: English Download Size: 133.0 MB - 4333.0 MB Is this the right one again ? Because in my earlier post i gave up 2 links: So just making shure i have the right version, please confirm this too. Thanks for your time and sorry for being so desperate for an answer. Its just that i have to start working on the project asap Regards Dhanesh. -
Programming In Vb .net, Vista Compatible ?
dhanesh1405241511 replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Programming
Thankx dude, and nice blog Checked the links out but the thing that troubles me is this: \"This SDK is designed for use with Windows Vista (which includes Framework 3.0)\" . Well my development platform is Windows XP so would i have any problems using orcas on my windows XP machine. Secondly, i have to mention that i have to start my project in the next week and submission is due mid May 2007. So with the CTP of orcas i dont really know if it would be fully out by this time. So i guess i would go with the SDK. How does it work ? I mean all the sites provide technical documents and explaination on this topic, but all i wanted to know that is this an Add-on, that i just double click > install and run VB .net 2005, assuming that the new project i started will be compatible with fully compatible with Vista. I wouldent have to do anything extra or are there some lines i have to add or some settings i have to check before starting the project so that i wont have to look back on the compatibility issue, and be shure that what i do from there on will be fully compatible. Regards Dhanesh. EDIT: I am confused on which version of orca should i download >>THIS<< or >>THIS<< , one is installable bits and the other one is normal. whats the difference ? -
I am at the start of my end year project, and i have decided that my front end would be in VB .NET 2003/2005 (havent decided the versions yet). Couldent really decide on the versions because i still havent worked on 2005 so i wouldent know. But if anyone can point out the positive and negative points, it could save me some search energy ;)Anyways, back to topic. I was wondering if the application i make in VB .NET would be compatible with Windows Vista ? The reason i am asking this is because if normal programming would make my program compatible with Vista then i can add it in my synopsis or project overview. Just kinda adds up to a level of sucking up but if i can some how manage to get my current s/w working in Windows XP AND Vista, then i guess i get a point for compatibility and that would help a lot in the grading. If it would however not be compatible with Vista by default programming, then what exactly do i need to do ? Is there an add-on that is used in VB .NET 2005/2003, or are there specific lines of code i need to add ?RegardsDhanesh.

Wordpress: Google Adsense Referral Rotator Plug-in
dhanesh1405241511 replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in Software
Cool .. Thankx for the plugin m^e, will impliment it on my blog soon. But just a thought reading all the posts in here. Wouldent it be nice to have a widget plugin that also impliments google ads in posts too ?Easier said than done, but i tried a few plugins for adsense and nothing seemed to work correctly on the WP 2.1 installation. Some show random PHP code and some just increase the width for the blog template in IE.Would be nice to see a Text ad implimentation on posts in your wordpress widget modification Keep your mods and findings comming ..RegardsDhanesh. -
Now the Ads dont matter do they ? It was nice to shift Ad-free, but those ads werent doing much harm to anyone i guess. So incase thers a poll on if the Ads have to be kept or not, then m all in for keeping them like before, unless they dont come in the way of the "Asta Experience" Regards Dhanesh.

WOW ! Sweet new writer .. i love eye candy .. aight i dont know how far this is suitable here but change the location if needed please, but this was worth the post .. A dude posted this video on Youtube and trust me, it makes you want to NEVER install Vista .. pity the guy who did this, but would you really shread all that money you spend on a "Original" Vista DVD ? Well watch it .. >> VIDEO << Regards Dhanesh.
-
I had Norton .. Now using Kaspersky .. Have Defender running in the background .. and i have firewall enabled lol ..I did a upgrade of the definitions on these softwares, and did a full system scan. Nothing found. I think its related to location ads. Cause m seeing this since the past 3 months or so now. And its web based, so i dont think i run the threat of a spyware. Just that if i hit "cancle" it tells me that it will still install, so m guessing its an ad. But a very annoying one at times ;)RegardsDhanesh.

Drupal Not Working In Iexplorer help
dhanesh1405241511 replied to HiddenKenshin's topic in General Discussion
Well if progress done at ur current installation is alot, then i guess u should upgrade. But normally i'd prefer backing up the database the files etc that i've changed and then installing a full new version and them patching up the new installation, thats probably the case with an advanced user. I am paranoid with upgrades .. but thats just me. If you want to upgrade then i guess you can d'load the current release >>HERE<< .. Note: If you are using Internet Explorer and WinZip, save the file first, as otherwise IE will corrupt the file's extension. Check the installation readme file, where i am shure they would have steps on how to do a smooth upgrade. I havent used drupal myself but have always been a fan of the e107 CMS system. Check out the post >>HERE<< .. Hope the upgrade goes well .. let us know if you run into any problems. Tho i dont use drupal, the basic installation and upgrade method for all CMS is the same i guess. Regards Dhanesh. -
Drupal Not Working In Iexplorer help
dhanesh1405241511 replied to HiddenKenshin's topic in General Discussion
I'd suggest downloading the lastest build version from their site, and manually installing it. Its a lil pain but probably would take care of small bugs in your installed version. I couldent see the site either on IE7, in FF i can atleast see it.RegardsDhanesh. -
Not so frequent but though this should be brought under attention .. Pages pre-load as normal and when cancel is hit (1), another box pops up with an ok button (2). After thats gotten rid of, the page loads fine. but happens with every link you click in that session on asta. Regards Dhanesh.

Yep, as WeaponX said .. why dont you upload compressed files ? Aight Try this .. 1) Go to phpBB and get this file >>HERE<< .. its the "phpBB 2.0.22 Full Package" in a ZIP format. 2) Now, it depends on where you want to install the forums, if its in "ROOT" thats in public_HTML then your ZIP archive should have all the files of phpBB listed when opened. If incase you want it installed like http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ .. then well your upload path would be "public_HTML/Forums". 3) For now i would suggest you install it as http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and play around with it till you get a better understanding of how this works. 4) Upload the ZIP you just downloaded from the link above to your hosting account .. into public_HTML thats "ROOT". Once uploaded click on the file name and on your right hand top you will see a few options. One of those options would be "Extract File Contents". Just click it once and it will extract everything into a folder called "phpBB2". 5) Now select the folder phpBB2 by clicking on its name and on your top right column choose "Rename File". Rename it to forums. 6) I assume you know how to make a database in MySQL so i wont go there. Just make shure that before you go through, make the config.php file writable to 666 by changing permissions. If you run into any specific problems while installation then post a screenshot or just ask here Hope this helped Regards Dhanesh.
