Hello Folks, Long time since i last posted here. Anyways, I am having problems or rather having issues about networking my PC with the MAC at home through a Modem+wireless router. I have been using a normal DSL modem since i switched to broadband 5 years ago. A Lucent Cell Pipe 20A USB. I finally decided i needed to change my modem because firstly the drivers werent updated any more and secondly the product is discontinued.I bought a new Wireless ADSL2 + Modem router. This is what i was told to buy as i had no idea of what i needed for the upgrade. Its a NETGEAR DG834G v3. Guess if you search on the netgear site you'll get the technical info for the product.I managed to get the internet working after like almost a day lol, because the system of a browser configuration etc is new to me. But these are my details to get you started:PC : 1 LAN Port, NETGEAR port 4 is connected to this LAN port of my PCMAC : 1 LAN Port, NETGEAR port 2 is connected directly to this machine.Now my question is, How do i share files from my pc to mac, as in i need a network drive on my mac showing me a specif folder that i share on the PC. I did this when i had a straight LAN wired connection from the PC to the MAC. Gave the PC an IP and MAC just gave itself one and i could mount the drive on the mac desktop.Now how do i do this with the current system i have with the new modem+router etc. Can someone guide me to a tutorial or write one here to guide me through this ?Plus it would also be helpful if you told me how to set up wireless , i have wireless security disabled now and i guess half the people in my locality are connected on this lol. So i wanted to know what settings or what type of security should i choose so i can connect my Laptop or the MAC via wireless. I tried to put a WEP passcode and it generated a random key etc. but when i found the access point in mac and tried to connect and add in the key it says "error connecting" Without the password (disabled) it connects fine.Would appreciate your help alot.Thanks and regardsDhanesh.

I'd say games , prolly ones that you can earn extra points or if you win against a member in a challenge you get awarded say 10 credits ? Say how about changing the forum theme ( i am an eyecandy lover, so its just me ) but its worth a thought. I am no more hosted, because of err, no credits , but then i just went ahead an got myself a hosting and domain from Xisto - Web Hosting and Xisto - Domains ( both under xisto banner ). Dedication means no limit lol. But honestly, something must be done here, beer, food, poker hell even a fightclub if you have to, but get this place goin back again. I'd go for Kaspersky anyday. After being loyal over 3 years to norton, i am using kaspersky for the past year now, and its way consistent. Fast startup, different scan options plus if you get the internet security edition you get antivirus with it just as powerful as it would be standalone.Updates are like everyday, and its annoying at times when u leave ur pc switched of for a day because the next day it pops up a message saying that, your definitions are old lol. but atleast it keeps you on your toes to keep updating the AV. Plus where all the antivirus are having problems trying to run on the 64bit version of vista, kaspersky just runs smooth. No problems so far, and a very tight watch over what goes in and what goes out through my internet connection.I would suggest you guys give it a try, its worth the time.RegardsDhanesh.

Why not use AJAX ? 1) On button click you could set the screen to go lighter and then show your report on the layer above it with a clos option that when clicked returned to the form page. While returning you could set this to either clear all textbox values or just make some labels visible to tell the user that values are already present in the fields, or whatever user interface you would want to make easier for the user.2) Use a master page and give all your text fields in that. and on button click just join another page to that master. so the look and feel is the same plus this transition is faster.How many fields do you have ? lol dont tell me 50. But i think even 50 fields if arranged the rightway through layers could give you enough space to show your values. If you have a gridview to show them then that makes it much easier. this is just an idea. to implement this idea in real would need you to take many things into consideration, like page size, if edit is enabled then it will bloat up the gridview and make the width scrollable etc .. I have a gridview i managed to update using the edit option in the smartmenu. The problem comes when i delete a value or make a value read only. Say i have a table Employee with the following columns : EmpID, Emp Name, Password, Emp Type. Now when i remove the value EmpID, the gridview does not update. it just reloads when i hit update but no changes are made. On the other hand say i make Emp Type as Read only, when i update .. the gridview updates, but the value of Emp Type updates as blank. While editing other values, the value of Emp Type that i made readonly shows correctly. But after i hit update and the values get sent to the DB in access, the field Emp Type updates as blank. Is there any solution to this ? TimeSheet Table has the Following: TimeSheetID --> This is the Primary Key Day_Date UserName Client Name Job Description Job Types Hours And the Column names are exactly as in my table, I hope the capital and spaces don't make a difference. Should i be changing the primary key to something else ? Like Day_Date ? Cause UserName is Primary key of User table and Client Name is primary key of Client table. Hello Folks, I have this timesheet management open source php website. I am trying to customize it to my needs. I cant tend to understand what he's done so i cant really begin or edit extreme changes. I am attaching the file, please have a look at it. Also i'd like to know if an extra table can be added. As in i needed the user to be able to add a client name in the add timesheet page. So by default this new added client field should hsow its values in the exported CVS or the timesheet viewing page like the rest of the values.I would really appriciate all your help guys, cause this is eating me half to desperation. I just installed Vista for a friend and took the opportunity to play around with it a little. I came across a rather annoying problem i cant resolve currently. The icons on the desktop (Folders or applications icons), when hovered upon shows a white highlight box. When the icon is selected the highlight stays. This white box is pretty annoying and if i dont want that to appear, what should i do. Just like the icons in XP without any border. I searched online and i found this one solution but i dont know how to reach "Display Properties" or "Customize Desktop and Web" or "Lock desktop items". Heya guys, i need your help again. This time its in ASP .NET with Access DB. It just keeps getting annoying aint it ? Newayz, i am attaching the file i have done so far from various sources and help from people around me. My friends who have worked with asp .net have used SQL as the backend and never used access. Well i dont blame them, its a smart choice. But because i choose to use access in my VB .net application i have to use it here in asp .net too. Concept of the website is simple, the DB provided in the attachment is pretty self explainatory, but to give you a jist of it, this is a website for the colleges. Each college would have a userid and password that would allow them to get into exclusive areas of the DB. By this i mean for example, i have a University table that has some fields. The university that logs in should be able to view ONLY its own DB and should be able to update/edit its records. The university table would NOT allow addition of records. On the other hand the Student DB would allow addition/updation/deletion of records. Only in that university. For example: University X has logged in and wants to add students, then under the college field on this page, the university name "X" should be readonly and all the students added should get into the student DB. Now university Y logs in, so all the students it adds should go under college field "Y" My logic might differ from yours so please feel free to critisize me and correct me. I have no idea A-Z of asp .net but with the little knowledge i knew in 2 days i figured out from sql examples of how to connect an access DB and check values, but as i go further it keeps getting complicated. If possible please comment every line of connecting a DB to addition .. updation .. refreshing of the page etc, because i have connected the DB alright but to be honest it was a fluke from the huge amount of sources i had in hand. Probably will be getting a asp.net book tommorow from a friend so will check that out too, but at this time with the deadline over my neck, i need fast and eazy to understand help. 1. Try this .. Double click the label and write the code .. label1.text = red (change the color or use the color with ' like 'red') see if that helps. Else try label1.color = red .. I dont have my laptop so cant try it out, but m shure one of these combinations will also do the trick. 2. Doesnt \n work ? Never really needed a new line in the labels so this is a shot in the dark. EDIT: In the Access DB the Age field is specified as number and not text. When i try to add the fields from the frontend it acts a little weird. I cant explain how weird cause when a piece of code to add a row is put in, then it shows me a conversion error. Duno how to explain this but if you are familiar with such an error please tell me how to correct it. I use VB >NET 2005.ThanksThanks for getting that off my brains guys , thought it was something from my side. Newayz, the main intension of all this fuss was that the database after getting filled with data would be saved as an excel file for further use. As my earlier post mentioned about this small software i am trying to break my head with. Its a simple task of typing values into the field and when the "ENTER" button is hit it should add the values into the database and clear the text boxes and "Add a NEW row". This addition of new row is done through the Add New (Plus) button on the Binding Navigator bar. I dont need to manually press this button. I need to do the job of that plus button when i hit enter. I have a small registration software i made. It basically will just let the person sitting on the software type in details like Name, location, college etc and when the "Enter" is hit, all that info typed on screen goes into an access DB and all the fields get cleared to type in the next record.Here my Record ID property is set as autonumbered in access. While i run and add records into the software everything works fine say like this :ID Name Age1 aaaaa 192 bbbbb 213 ccccc 204 ddddd 185 eeeee 22Now i want to run it in actual live mode and i delete the records 1 - 5 from the access DB, the next time i add a new record through the software, it starts from 6. I also tried deleting 3 & 4 from the list, but instead of rearranging or autorefreshing the numbers it shows like this :ID Name Age1 aaaaa 192 bbbbb 215 eeeee 22Is there a way i can fix this small glitch ? i.e if i delete any record from between, then the auto number should refresh all the numbers to one after another like this :ID Name Age1 aaaaa 192 bbbbb 213 eeeee 22RegardsDhanesh.

Sorry for the late reply and thanks a million for those explainations and the websites. Was preparing the mid-sem report / presentation for the software so kinda got caught up in it. I used a few but not all points from the explainations you gave me, just so that my faculty can understand what i am doing, in a better technical way. If i may trouble you folks again, please keep your eyes peeled on this section for some random questions i may put through while developing my application. No, Its just a clause i added in the presentation before i started developing the project. So the tension comes up when the faculty asks me for an explaination as to why and how my software is vista compatible. The application setup does not validate if the software can run on vista I didnt have much of a knowledge in Framework 2.0/3.0, hence all that tension rising up. But if you say that an application developed in VB 2005 (Framework 2.0) works well on vista (vista compatible), then well my problem is solved. I just need to find the right explaination to give the auditors when they come to review the software by the end of the semester. Reading all those sites and tutorials are confusing me, and i still cant tend to find an explaination to give them as to why and how i said "Vista Compatible" in my project report. If you could give a small guideline on this, it would be helpful .. then later i can elaborate and detail that explaination. No problemo lee, u've helped quiet alot in solving my queries here I went past through the problem of adding data from the database to the datagrid etc. My university still worships 2003 and the only 2005 related book i could find, helped me a great deal. Even if that ment sitting for 5 hrs just to understand how database connections are made in VB 2005 lol. Its just that i dont have all that time, and learning on my own is going to slow me down. This would help me explain why i wrote "vista compatible" in my presentation to the faculty. But as i mentioned earlier, it would be helpful if you could just explain a small paragraph in general on whats the difference between 3.0 and 2.0 and why i can use 2.0 to create vista compatible applications etc. I am a bad explainer, so hope you know what i mean. Thanks fo the quick reply lee.1) I got what you are trying to tell me, but my question was how do i know if Vista capable software can be compiled on the installed products. I did everything normally as per instructions, but those 2 alert boxes made me to think that they affected only the VC++ part of VS2005. Is there a way to check if the application i create hereon will be with the 3.0 Vista SDK or just the default 2.0 that was installed with VS2005.2) For the DataAdapter, well i directly went to a textbox propertie and tried to do databinding from there. The DataAdapter got added automatically with 2 other things. Selected the Database etc and went through some screens. Added a forward and Back button to go through records just to test. But after successfull compilation and trying to hit next and back, i cant see the data in those boxes. Theres something to do with FILLING the dataset, but dont know how to do it here. Any help in this context would be great.The reason i want 3.0 is that in my presentation, i mentioned that my software will be vista compatible (lol, big mistake .. got caught in the moment), so incase they try to run and check the compatibility on vista, then i have a problem in hand.RegardsDhanesh.
