  1. I don't know which language your web gallery is in, but I know that some modules of PHP at least are still to be reinstalled after the server move.
  2. Hi CroSpartacus, this is already possible. The Link "My Assistant" (top right) shows if there are replies to your topics (that you started). If you want to see if there were replies to the posts where you wrote, you can do an search. Klick search, then click more options. Enter your user name in the user name field and it will show the replies. This has still some disadvantages (Can not be bookmarked, because it has a temporary search ID and the "pinned:" threads are always on top of the list, even though they are not most recent.Maybe this could be improved a little, but it is possible already.
  3. @crospartacusthere is a difference between supporting, not supporting and what elvellion did: bashing.but i think we should end this discussion here, since it leads to nothing.
  4. Hi bnbrown. Postings like your last post are considered spam. The answer to your question is: The Internet Explorer is behaving wrong by showing the Alt-Text when mouse-overing the image. If you want the same behaviour (showing a description) for both, then define a "title" attribute for the images. It will override the "alt" display in IE.
  5. My suggestion: Make abbreviations links and display an explanation-box when they are hovered. I know that this is possible with just CSS. Could make an tutorial when I have time ^^
  6. Totally agree with you. I don't know if that is possible, but only points for the replies to a review-request should be counted. Or the thread-starter has to keep his post short. So that the points go to the people that try to help and improve the website.
  7. I think not all modules are back up again, I'm still missing the PHPextension multibyte
  8. hej,I think as a homosexual, prosecuted by narrow-minds for the time since your coming-out, which might not even has happened yet, because you fear such reactions, you would be disappointed that narrow-mindedness has found its way into the internet that offensively. I'm not saying this occurs to all homosexuals, that would be stereotype, but it is a simple fact, that homosexuals have to suffer from a bad reputation.I do not agree with you, that being against Nazis is being prejudice. Don't know where you come from, you might never have met any, but I lived in Germany as a long-haired, half-Turkish guy and for me it is clear that there is nothing clear about Nazi ideology and that their representatives are mostly dumb bullies with low self-esteem, that feel stronger in a group. I know what happened, when these bullies weren't dumb and what happened when they ruled half of Europe, so I think I can say without doubt: fascism and the nazi way are wrong and against human rights. I don't like it. Their representatives might be dumb, disoriented kids that grew up in a bad environment, but that doesn't make the ideology better.I'm not talking about prejudice here, I'm talking about standing up, when human rights are violated. Too much tolerance can end up as gutlessness.
  9. I think we figured that out by now @jipman Maybe you could help them to set up their one-year-domains? Nice to have an international forum, as I notice now
  10. Alright, then let's go guessing :-)You are Altaire and your girlfriend is Srdana (couldn't find any more common names)Nice, to see you guys rhyming, please dont stop.or this thread will be a flop.oh another nice one that comes to my mind.Thou shall not ever double postwhere the door name's Xisto.Keep that in mind, when you intend to post more often! You can edit your posts, just search the forum.
  11. What does that app do then? I heard it was working versus computer security. Just overtook the term rootkit ^^ never heard it before.. should think first next time.
  12. Hi, I believe m^e's code won't work, since he forgot to include the script for the toggleview() function code. It is also a bit too complicated for what you want. Oh and all the document.write things have to be in one line, otherwise you'll get an "unterminated string literal" error. Let's do this extensively ^^ To hide an HTML element, you just have to include the attribute style with no-display. <div style="display:none">This means that the <div> is not there at all. If you want to make it invisible, but keep the space as placeholder, then you would use "visibility: hidden" instead of "display: none". Since some browsers do not support Javascript/users turned it off, the field should be shown by default. If you don't care about those without JS, then hide the div by default. <div><script type="text/javascript"><!--document.write("<div style='display:block' id='moreinfo'>");//--></script>More Info, shown for those without Javascript<script type="text/javascript"><!--document.write("</div>");//--></script></div>This way, the div will be shown to the users which have JS disabled, but it will be directly hidden from the ones with document.write-supporting browsers (nearly all). It's a lot of action for those few users without Javascript, but you should not neglect them. If you intend to do so, then do it directly. <div style="display:none" id="moreinfo">More Info, shown for those without Javascript</div>like this. But from now on, the code for the JS-browsers Now, let's show this div :-) you need only one simple JS-command for this purpose.. document.getElementById('moreinfo').style.display = 'none';You can call this function with the onclick-eventhandler on any element, that you can click (almost all) <a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('moreinfo').style.display = 'block';">Show me what you got</a>So, in the end your document would look something like this... <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml/ <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Page</title> </head> <body> <p><a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('moreinfo').style.display = 'block';">Show me what you got</a></p> <div><script type="text/javascript"><!--document.write("<div style='display:none' id='moreinfo'>");//--></script>More Info, shown for those without Javascript<script type="text/javascript"><!--document.write("</div>");//--></script></div> </body></html>works a 100%, I tried it out. Good luck, feel free to ask back!
  13. Aah now you're scaring him off ;)Welcome aboard mr. un-pronouncable nick!all this poetry is making me sick.Mine is worse, but please don't scoff.
  14. @abhiram: I'm wondering, is it working well? Did they message you about the limitations and such?@saxsux: There are quite some multi-language countries in Europe, Switzerland is French/German/Italian for example.I only know the historical reason for the German part of Belgium: After World War 2, Belgium got a little part of Germany as "compensation" for being rolled over, I guess ^^ But I think on the border there people spoke German already, because the German city in that corner (Aachen) was quite important some time ago, so I guess you had to know German.Belgium is a small country and it was ruled by foreigner often (Habsburger, Austria), so I suppose this is the reason.. Since this is really off-topic I won't write that much, you can read the Wikipedia article on it or something.
  15. hej, yes, finaldesign, there IS: Google Search Appliace (Switch I didn't try it, sounds a lot like "you sign up for our expensive search service and we give you some candy (if you sign up for a thousand years and sell us your soul)". This is the Mini, they were talking about it... To be honest I thought first that it was about the Mini-Car Well, I guess this is only of use for those who have a big enterprise which huge amounts of uncategorized data. Hardly qualifies as useful for most of us... How I found this? I just entered the quote into Google, what else, and got there over one of the links it came up with Ruben
  16. Hehe, that's one hell of a story. I think the industry is really going mad about protection, which is a really otiose thing to do, because as protection gets better, the cracks get better. I heard that users started to sell these rootkit-CDs as hacker tools on the internet :-)
  17. Hi,I thought I'd just add on on this old thread.. (I can't contribute to the Tiger-Debate, because the last Mac OS I used before was 9.2 ^^)What do you think about the newest Tiger Update (10.4.3)?When Software Update installed it on my iBook it crashed my system and I couldn't boot anymore, but well now that I've got I think it is nice, even though it doesn't fix all issues that I had hoped for to be fixed.I actually took my iBook to the AppleCenter because I thought it was warranty issue (system-intern thing) and they quietly took it. When I wanted to collect they suddenly came up with the sum of 114€ ^^ because it was a software issue (caused by the system though...). I was kind of shocked, but I talked for ages until I got it back for free ^^ So 10.4.3 will always be a number with a personal history for me =)did you install the update already? do you like it?Ruben
  18. Hi! I'm just trying to make my Mac a little bit more convenient with Growl and Butler, and I came across the possibility to set up different skins for different events in different programs. I kinda liked the idea of getting a small message when receiving messages, a "music video"-style thing when someone goes online, a bezel message when a new discussion starts, etc. But I was not able to set it up to work with Adium. That program seems to override the adjustments in Growl itself (because it has basic setup in itself) and I only have the standard style for everything. I was just wondering, am I too stupid for this, because it is not in the support database (and it would be if it was a bug, right?) and I can't figure it out. Maybe one of you already did that before, so I just ask By the way I really recommend Butler (formerly: Another Launcher), it is a great app, it combines so many features I have been missing in OS X. I'm pretty sure some of the features will be implemented quite soon. I especially use the iTunes hotkeys and the little menu. I have a very nice hotkey for leaving the computer now. I press it and it shuts off ongoing processes and turns on the screensaver But Butler has many more features. It's donateware by the way (practically freeware if you are don't have a good heart). // hehe something I just came across.. Press Ctrl+Alt+Apple+8 at the same time and then use your laptop at night, when trying to hack WLANs > Thanks if anyone knows about this Adium issue, Ruben
  19. Hi evought, thanks for the patience! But won't forwarding port 80 slow down the internet connection for the other computers? I mean if all traffic goes to my computer and I have to "send it on its way" again? Sorry, I'm completely out of knowledge here, so I just make metaphores with school crossing guards ^^I did not figure out yet, what this address is, but since the normal IP works fine too, I can use this. Luckily I don't have two Macs trying to WebShare.I don't really need a dyndns service, since I'm not really hosting a website there (hey I'm at Xisto :–)). It's just a good and fast way of sharing files with people without computer knowledge or without suitable programs.
  20. hi,i've used a iMac with 233 mhz for many years and for some time one with 333mhz too.the sites DO load fast, but it takes an awful long time (in every browser, but MSIE is fastest) to render the site, so you can actually see it. you can easily get MB per second speed if you just download something, but if it is a site your mac will choke because it is too slow. I think I hardly noticed the change from ISDN till ADSL on my iMac (when viewing websites). You should not invest in a really-xxx-highspeed connection, because you can't make a use of it.good luck,Ruben
  21. hello guy!Regarding the fact, that this guy never posted here again, I think we don't need to enroll a moral debate on this, but anyway I don't want to stand here as the prejudiced one...Firstly there was no "sort of language"-use, all those who wrote kept to a formal, distanced language. This can hardly be called flaming, sincesecondly homophobia is in no way an excusable mental illness or something. Personal Freedom should stop there where it harms others (I hope you agree with me there) and this certainly is offensive and prejudiced against homosexuals.I agree with you, that people who are disgusted by the thought of homosexuality because of the way they grew up or for what ever other reason, should (and will be) accepted. BUT if they think that they need to BROADCAST their homophobia in public places (with the certain purpose of harming and insulting homosexuals), then I do not think, they are worth my acceptance, maybe not even my pity. So far most moral instances (except church who bashes homosexuality herself) agree with me.
  22. Hi,you could think, that the shift is complete now and it's time to ask for solutions, because Xisto.com is up again, etc.For me my database is up and working, except that I had to newly add access hosts (former ones were IPs and anyway deleted) and that the multibyte-strings modul seems not be installed again yet. I guess everything gets slow build up to "was-as-is" status.I don't which of vujsa's posts your talking about. But let's all stay calm, will we?
  23. I wrote my first really bad website in the editor of Netscape, when I was 12 years old, so that's 4 years ok. It was not many months later, that I reached the limits of this wysiwig editor and wanted to do more, so I learned to write code. I think I learned all with the German/French/Spanish documentation selfHTML. It includes HTML, which I started with of course and then I think I went to Javascript, because I wanted a flashy site ^^ Now, I've learned to write standard-compliant and I'm using JS, CSS, PHP as someone who knows the basics and can create anything when he looks it up.I started with PHP like 2 years ago, when I got the first PHP-supporting free host, I guess :–)
  24. That is a great thing :-) I'm not romantic enough to bury a time capsule and this is a really good alternative! What do you write in there? I note down, what is moving me now and what my goals are. This is probably pretty interesting, since I will change a lot still from 16 to 36 if I live that long.I will send multiple emails to myself, because it is interesting what I thought, I would be after my "abitur" (baccalaureate), and what 10 years later. It is especially interesting in how far I can develop my job wishes. Let's be optimistic! I hope this email doesn't bring me down when I'm a 36 year old unemployed loser :-)–––––Don't you think that there will be something completely different than the internet in 20 years? I mean, some 3D stuff or so... and even if not, won't google be bankrupft in 20 years and won't my email address be gone? Now the inventors of the internet are still alive, but who knows what will happen, when the internet becomes the "books" of today in 20 years? Makes me think.
  25. Err read the last part of m^es post again. Yes it is compatible with Xisto, you have to set it up as a cronjob, he explained how. Sorry for double posting but I was having some issues configuring this and I need help with it. 1. Is daily backup considered resource exploitation? What's the limit? 2. Which path do I have to specify in the CronTabs in order to let it find the file to be executed? I tried /home/ruben/etc/cron.daily and etc/cron.daily, neither worked, I get Emails like this to my Xisto mail account.3. Would it be easier to set it up using SSH, now that I have it? If it's only a path issue, probably not, but there is also the writing permission thing, etc. 4. What does the script do when the database files get to big for email? Split em or not send them at all? Since I never got it to work, I was wondering, what I'll get. Thanks!
