  1. This is a php tutorial more than a MySQL tutorial, isn't it ?SQL stands for "Simple Query Language", like "select user_needs from users", which is a rather simple self-understandable query.Your tutorial describes the php implementation for fetching rows, which is also interesting but is not so clear as the pure sql syntax.
  2. Wow! I expected word files having nothing dangerous, so I thought that the long time opening my Microsoft Word document was due to the huge size of my typing things and the small size of my PC processor unable to run Microsoft Word in a reasonable time. So, you think that Norton also uses resource when you open a word text file ?Now I understand that my reference word document is opened very slowly by our computer protected by Norton, and very fast by the computer protected by XXXAfee !
  3. From a formal point of view, I would like to add two comments.First of all, usually, a chapter is a set of several pages in a book. A two-lines text should not be named "chapter". Secondly, be kind with your public. It would be nice to add a link to go to the "other" tutorial you are talking about. Because, hopefully, you will write down several "other" tutorials, so a newbie cannot guess which one you are talking about.
  4. I'm afraid it sometimes works in silent mode. For instance when you unzip a file, some potentially unwanted programs are not present in the final folder.
  5. Namely, FirefoxRocks says that he just tested that Guitar Hero III and Skype do not work properly on the 64-bit Windows, and they worked correctly on the 32-bit version.
  6. There is no real time limit for purchasing web hosting. You can order as soon as you have enough in your Credit Balance, or if you prefer waiting no problem either.
  7. If you use 32-big softwares like Guitar Hero III or Skype and cannot purchase the 64-bit version of these softwares, you should stick to the 32-big operating system version.
  8. You use winrar if you want to unpack/read a single file. You mount the .iso file as a virtual CD if you want to perform an installation. During the install process, usually, the install program looks for the CD drive letter (let's say d:) and then looks for files with names like d:/i386/drivers/something.dll) That's why you really need to have the iso file mounted as a cd-rom drive. This is also useful if you want to browse your iso file in order to view some files, this saves disk space because you don't have to unpack the whole iso in a temporary location, you read inside the iso file.
  9. Did you try a system restore to a point before the live update, and then use the removal tool ?
  10. Thanks for the unetbootin link. However, it seems strongly linux-oriented. For instance, seems that you have to provide the Kernel and initrd files. So, it will probably not work for windows, except if you find a Linux kernel+initrd distro which is able to boot a Windows iso CD... And, of course, if you are successful, please tell us how you performed this, a lot of people around here are looking for the way doing that!
  11. Wow! I even did not know that we could "select columns" and see the PID. Thanks, this was useful.Do you think this works with vista too?
  12. If y have cygwin or another set of Unix tools for windows, it's rather simple : You write a file containing find . -name *.Cfg -print |grep rmIf you don't have any Linux collaborative tool and you don't want to install even the command-line part of cygwin, you can do the search job using windows search ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/products/windows ). I did not try it, but it should be simple to put the search file result in a text file, and remove all the files listed in that text file.
  13. Thanks for the link.I love the way bluemelon does not downsample the photos, but also gives a link to the size you want to communicate (800x600 for people having a slow internet connexion). And 1 gig is quite a lot for pictures usage.
  14. Of course, it's easy to mount an iso file from a flashdrive on a notebook. However, you will only be able to read files from the CD emulated on the iso file. You will not be able to boot off that iso file in order, for instance, to perform a Windows 7 installation. If you really want to temporarily boot off the iso file, you will have to burn from that iso file to a rewritable media, using Nero for instance, and boot off the physical just burnt media. Use a rewritable media if you want to spare your media for a just-once test, else burn it on a standard read-only media.
  15. Sorry, but we probably need some more info.If I inderstand, first of all you start Windows XP, and then you start Linux in a VmWare virtual machine ? Is this correct ?How is your Windows XP system connected to the Internet ? through an Ethernet cable ?
  16. Please read our forum rules again. Do not post copied text here. If you really want to post a text already published somewhere else, put it between quote tags. Your post has already been published last week here https://x10hosting.com/community/ and you also posted it here : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I did the quoting job for you today, please do not forget to do it by yourself next time.
  17. Thug Battle ? Is this for thugs only ? Is it dangerous for non-thug people ?
  18. It's not completely off topic. Because if the price is really what you mention, I will not buy it! This post tells me that it will be far better than my current Vista, but for my own purposes the difference is not worth these $120!
  19. Each country has it's standard way for that. It's exactly the same way you have to do if you want to do a public meeting (like a dance contest) with music, there is simply a common fund for this kind of events. Your local income tax organization is in charge of collecting the money from you, and giving it back to the music authors.

  21. I would say that expert Linux users should have less problems. If you are a real Linux fan you never log in as root, you always log in as a standard user. And you hourly backup each user's file. So, a virus has only the user's right, and can only destroy this user, file. then, you create another user and you restore your private files. However, how many people around here do really never log in as root ? I must confess myself, that my first action is "su - root", so my Linux is exactly as virus-proof as my Windows system.
  22. Hello, H.O.D. Welcome aboard. Hope you will enjoy posting here.
  23. Just tread the starter topic of this thread, and you will understand.Nowadays, it sometimes occur that your phone rings at your home, a voice starts speaking with you, you answer some questions. And you perfectly know that this voice is not coming from a real person, it's a computer program written for a company needing to know what you want to buy in order order to prepare a new marketing plan. So, the thing talking to you exist, but it's not real. Another nice example : after one night drinking too much bear, you start talking to your headache, asking "get out from my head" ; you know the that headache exists, but you also know that it's not a real entity, it's an emanation of your partly alcoholized brain.
  24. Not Windows looking like linux! From tansqrx's post I understand that the installer looks like the Linux installer. I guess that, once installed, the product has the standard Windows look and feel.
