Wowzas, that's still one hella nice looking car. I'm sure the owner is extremely happy to get it back, even if they had lost that last shred of hope. Probably get a nice chucnk of change out of it from a vette collector too... not that I would personally sell that car if I owned it :| That's really crazy though, I can't imagine how I'd react that thatcop - "hello, sir, we seem to have found your car that was stolen"me - "...its not stolen...its in the drive way... I can see it right now"cop - "no sir... the OTHER car...the corvette"me - "holy sweet fu*has aneurysm*

I'm glad you people pointed that out, because reading the first page of posts it was bugging me that people seemed to think the whole article was M$ bashing themselves But yes, I would say this study is more reliable then the studies their marketing department uses, since it doesn't make windows look like ambrosia and it's not some random company doing the study as M$ pours dollars in their bank account to ensure 'correct' results :| Whether you like windows or microsoft or not, they aren't stupid. They know how to make themselves look better then they are, but its not like they all believe that... they just pretend to :)But the singularity project seems pretty interesting, I didn't read the whole article but read a hadnful of sections that seemed interesting and it's cool that they are putting effort into this.

Delete Button In Gmail reduces one click
Jeigh1405241495 replied to sparx's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I think it'll make people who wanted it happy, and keep many people worried about them keeping emails forever satisfied since they'll assume this new delete button means they will DELETE the email. In reality it's just a more convenient feature, so no omplaints, but I'm sure they realize it'll get at least a few people off the trail of the eternally stored emails. -
I remember I saw a show on the history of personal computing once where they showed a bunch of those, some even larger then those (but I forget where they were from... I'm sure googling you could find more). All the early generation HD's were ginormous though, I mean they were small comapred to having computers made of tubes that took up a huge room... but still... glad they improved the tech a 'bit'

Dating Sims? If this is wrong subforum, please move
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Vicious_AD's topic in Computer Gaming
I've seen them on newgrounds, played one for 2.375 seconds... they sound to me like something that would be a mini-game in a real game and that I just find annoying. I don't know, if you enjoy them I'm sure they're great but they just seem pointless to me. I'd rather go out and hit on real girls... but thats just me... I like that whole "they exist" thing...However, I'm sure googling for that sort of thing would be the quickest way to find them... if they are popular in japan I'm sure someone has translated some of them, cause thats just what people do. -
Oh crap that was rude of me I forgot to say welcome aboard to timeBomb as well! Sorry about that man I'm sure I'll be seeing you around soon enoguh as well, enjoy the show

Wired LAN Vs. Wireless LAN What is the best?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to christophertinker's topic in Computer Networks
Wireless is the wave of the future!!!!!!Ok, thats just random corny nonesense, however, I would still say go wireless. The speeds are more then fast enough now with the newer tech, and security is fine as long as you are careful like ruben was saying, just WEP it up and use a good strong key and you'll be fine unless someone really has it out for you, in which case you are pretty well done regardless.Oh and yea, if you are in an urban setting theres likely unprotected wireless around you to steal at your leisure (officially this is illegal, but it is there...) I know in my apartment building I can see at least 10 networks at any given time, usually 14 or 15. Of those, at least 7 have no WEP protection so on the rare occasion my net goes down, I just need to hop through them until I hit one thats not using my service provider and bam, access granted. Officially I've only had to use my buddy next door so far, whose permission I have... but its just as easy to use any if they aren't WEP'd. -
N-Vidia 6600GT Or ATI Radeon X800GTO - Which One ? which one
Jeigh1405241495 replied to iGuest's topic in Hardware Workshop
Yea I'd agree on the 6600... isn't the x800gto from a generation before the 6600gt? Ah well, I've lost track of them all so I'm probably wrong, but regardless I know the 6600GT is a pimped card, awesome power and up-to-date tech. THe x800gto is starting to fall off the radar, still a great card but not worth buying new if you could grab a 6600gt instead -
I too would like to welcome you aboard. It's an awesome community and I look forward to seeing your posts in various topics around the boards. Welcome and have a pleasant stay

While I preferred the sims 2 to the original (seeing as its just more of the same with all the improvements) but I DID play alot more of the first one.I enjoy the game but I can't get into it like I used to be able to, I guess all the 'options' aren't different enough for me personally. It's still a very stongly designed game and accomplishes their goals well... although I agree that they overdo it with the expansions. You'd think they'd release one as a free upgrade now and again to thank people for spending hundreds of bucks on the series. But yea, who knows, maybe I'll try Sims2 again and it'll grab me like the first one did, or maybe not, who knows. Then again maybe I'll just wait a couple years for the sims 3

Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB TV OUT Problem
Jeigh1405241495 replied to juventino79's topic in Hardware Workshop
That's really odd, I know I've used a 9600 pro with a tv and it looked fine. The resolution ws *BLEEP* since it was an old tv so it couldn't go above 640x480 but was decent other then that. You should check the ati forums for similar problems (I assume they have forums) -
Violent Games 'affect Behaviour' Witchhunt Time
Jeigh1405241495 replied to ccb_v2's topic in Computer Gaming
The way I see it, if the media buzz died off when Jack Thompson lost his 'power'... well... I don't have much fear in the gaming industry getting attacked too heavily again. I mean ol Jacko put some insane effort into bringing the industry to its knees and all he did was piss people off on both sides of the debate. If his drop off the main scene made his whole fight fall with him, I can't see other groups going at it with such passion. They'll always need something to rag on, and for now its video games, but I don't see much of a threat in it. -
Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB TV OUT Problem
Jeigh1405241495 replied to juventino79's topic in Hardware Workshop
Have you used the tv before with a pc? or have you used that cable before and it worked properly? While the tv works fine, the jack on the back could have an issue, or the cable could be screwed. Neither are likely causes as I would also assume a driver issue, but you never know. -
Graphics:.........9Gameplay:........10Addictiveness:..10Length:.........9Sound:............10Multiplayer:......N/AOverall:..........10-------------------------------I felt the need to write out this review because I was just reading some user reviews for the game on IGN and, while most saw the game in its true glory, a handful were too incompetent to see past its flaws. Therefor, I shall let my own review pour out of me in an attempt to possibly sway some people who haven't yet into trying this game, for it is truly deserving. Now to start out I will explain that Deus Ex (the original, not the let down of a sequel) is among my favorite games of all time. The reason I loved Deus Ex so much was the effort put into the world. It was dark, dangerous, living, and had a history to it that flowed throughout every aspect of it. Since DX I have never been pulled into a game that much again...Until Bloodlines (If you didn't see that comming, go slap yourself then continue reading). This game is built on HL2's source engine so you know it's bringing the goods to the table visually (although not up to HL2 standards, its still pretty swank). It also has awesome sound. I mean AMAZING sound. While the general sound effects are probably leveled out at "good quality", the music fits the world perfectly from the background ambience to the clubs its all awesome. Then there are the voice actors, who are simply perfectly fitted to their roles (excluding the rare one or two who are simply 'alright'). This again brings you into the world so strongly that you don't want to leave.Bloodlines is based in the world of, I believe, White Wolf's Vampire legendry. This gives a rich back story to the world that the game uses magnificantly. I had no knowledge of the WW Vampire series beforehand so don't think you need to do homework to get an idea of what is going on. The story is exceptionally written and well laid out for the player. You get to choose between numerous classes (clans) at the beginning which dictate things such as how other characters react to you, how you act, your stats, and your vampire specific abilities. The most noticable differences in play with the clan choices are Nosferatu and Malkavian. The Nos' are grotesque looking vamp's who can't interact with humans much less they cause a panic, and Malkavians are insane (literally). Their speach options are simply hilarious and watching other characters react to them is a blast. Also, there are hilarious little Malk only scripts that happen... but I won't ruin those for you.Another aspect of this game that sucks you in is the politics. Again like Deus Ex, their are a couple waring political factions to choose between. You can't exactly completely side with one or the other for the most of the game, but it is interesting to watch the differeing opinions of different charcters based on their political backgrounds. And by politics, I mean vampire politics. The main ruling group in this game is known as the Camarilla, who you meet early on. They govern over the city you start in trying to keep 'vampire law' intact. Play the game if you want to learn more about them and to make your own opinions about them. You might have noticed I said the 'city you start in'. That is because you actually visit 4 seperate large cities (well city sections) as well as various other locals. Each is quite distinct with interesting locals to give you various quests. The game is huge geographically as well as quest wise. Like Deus Ex and many other RPG'ish games, you can select how many of these quests you actually want to do, but all are very rewarding story wise as well as experience/game money wise. Speaking of environments, this game has a few game sections that are simply awe inspiring. The ocean house level is quite possibly the best designed level I have ever seen in any game...ever...period.This game manages to create a dark, perfect world. It is NOT for children, I will point out, as the game does not shy away from blood, death, prostitution, sex, drugs, and various things that make those look like childs play. Early in the game you are told something along the lines of "breaking and entering, theft, those will be the least of your sins before the night is out" (I know I'm murdering the line since I am too lazy to look it up) and this line couldn't be more accurate. There is no nudity, but there is everything else. Everything. Now onto the bad... the game is buggy. It was forced to a much too early release so there are bugs rampant throughout the game. Currently there is a 1.2 patch that solves some, and a high quality unofficial patch that is up to version 2.0 and still being worked on that fixes most of the game stopping bugs. The game mechanics are still somewhat buggy, but the game is far worth it. If you are someone willing to put up with a little frustration now and again to experience a true masterpiece, you MUST play this game. The story, characters, gameplay, and experience are simply something every gamer should try out. If you played Deus Ex and loved it, you are required by law to play this game. (okok, not law, but damnit go play the game).

They need to start releasing all the mainstream games for mac's before people will start making free quality games for macs... people like having there products seen by the masses and if the mainstream companies are ignoring the mac users there are obviously not enough to warrant creating games for, so most people will stick to pc too.

As soon as you round it's not equal, its approximate. If you can play with approximations as euqalities you can 'prove' alot of math formulas that are, in fact, complete and utter crap.

My Move To Linux
Jeigh1405241495 replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I havn't tried Xandros myself but have heard good things about it. If you are ever looking for another desktop linux that is really easy to get into, Ubuntu is a great one. Really any debian based one haha, but Ubuntu is the most user friendly I'd say. Apt-get is a super awesome tool for obtaining software so you don't need to worry about dependencies and whatnot. It also has great hardware detection. But yea, glad to hear you are enjoying xandros and the linux way. You should force some of your friends to try linux for a week and see how many keep it around -
Why would people bother tweaking the registry just to change the name of the RBin :| If you are that picky you shouldn't be doing things like interacting with the world anyways

Strange Happenings With Xp Pro Services and more problems
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Grafitti's topic in Software
A) follow K's adviceB)turn on system restore so you can just restore to a previous point if you screw things up againC)use linuxbut yea, just don't screw with anything if you dont know what it is, and make sure to make small numbers of changes at a time. Then at least you'll know what causes the problem if it happens again. But yea, telling us what you turned off could help someone pinpoint the problem -
Sony! A Cheap Imitator rips off nintendos new controller
Jeigh1405241495 replied to plot's topic in Computer Gaming
Am I missing something? you said SplitFish GameWare made the controller... what does that have to do with sony? Not their fault if another company makes a certain ps3 periph...But yea, the mouse was not inevitable, and it wasn't inevitable that they would leave it the same until now virutally unchanged... it works so when people try to innovate and make better things to replace it, well, they suck and fail. Companies have copied each other all the time.I don't know why they would imitate it anyways :| The ps3 controller looks like the ps2's, which looked like the psx's dual shock. Its boomeranged now but same design mostly, meaning good. The dual shock is only beat by the 360's controllers for awesomeness... I like my controller in one solid piece, hope these dont catch on personally :| -
Actually, while the first gen of them will be more then current, I cant see it being any worse then when dvd's first came out. There are trends, cd's originally were a buck or two a disk for 650mb and then like 3-4 bucks for 700mb and RW ones, then they were like 10cents a disk when dvds came out at a couple bucks a pop for the basics and a few bucks more for dual layer ones. Now Blu-ray's will probably be a couple bucks a disk now that dvd's are down to a quarter a disk. Could be wrong but the market controllers realize people will start using a new tech much faster (thus allowing them to maximize profits faster) if they make it easier to get started with the new tech money wise.

Your Thoughts On Main Streaming Linux What next?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to snutz411's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I wouldn't mind a market with a few 'dominant' OS's but I don't think having alot would be beneficial. All current OS's have problems of varying degrees, and the more OS's there are the more liekly each of these is to have more problems since they'll have smaller groups working on each OS thus limiting the abilities of those groups to resolve said issues. I could be wrong but I cant see flooding the market with popular OS's being a positive idea (by different I mean completely different, not like how linux distros differ since they have the same core)Oh, and I agree that Apple won't take the market from Microsoft. Just cant see it ever happening. -
Yea I didn't mean the PS3 supporting the blu-ray would guarantee its win, what I meant to say was it would help alot. With the ps2, dvd was already well on it's way into the market and alot of people already had dvd players, however the PS3 will likely come out when blu-ray is still in its infancy and thus it will help alot of people get a blu-ray player earlier then they might have otherwise. And to answer the question about what the xbox360 uses, currently it uses standard dvd's if I'm not mistaken, but they will be releasing an upgrade so it can use HD-DVD's, at least that was the plan last I heard about it. If that has changed someone'll probably correct me shortly.
