I just deleted the file /dev/null by mistake in console mode.The problem is i don;t know which comman I should use to undelete files...so I just leave it.after sometime (about half hour), I restart my PC. I found that it cannot boot into the system.. How can i get /dev/null back??can i creat this files (device)??or can i get it from someone then put it back??Thank you.

Thanks guys...I just added vga=0x303 to the end of the line that begins with the word "kernel" in grub.conf.And it really works fine.It is cool when open "multi-windows" in emacs after I set it to 1024x768A logo appear when the system is booting.Thats very cool..

Recently, I need to test a program in linux.The program is running on console mode (xwindows is not started).Screen resolution is 640×480.Only 25 lines of charaster can be displayed.I feel sick to scroll up and down all the time to find out some information.is there any way to make it display more than 25 lines in the linux console mode.I guest, changing the screen resolution may solve this problem!??Am I right?

Thank you, microscopic^earthling.Problem disappeared after I reboot Windows. However, I couldn't remember if I got a Illegal Function Call error or not... After this, I use symentec Antivirus to do a whole system scan, but no virus are found.

Problem was fixed...After a night, now, FTP and Cpanel both work fine...I can upload my files again.Thank you for you guys fixing the problem..I have to sadi Xisto's service is so greate, and it is free....

Yes, you are partly right. I use drupal for my website...and a upload plugin was installed. and HTMLarea plugin was installed as well. The images were upload via HTMLarea.. I feel that I am very lucky. I still can update my site since people, who has login problem, cannot. HTMLArea is writen by JAVA, not php... Thats why I said partly right...

I have the same problem.....Cannot login ot cpanel and cannot access FTP as well..But my website works just fine....still can upload image and update my website...What cause this problem??? is this my problem or the server's problem??

Yesterday, I found that the CUT/COPY/PASTE in the right click menu are all disabled.I opened a word document, then create another new word document.Ctrl+A select all in the source doc and COPY it. Yes COPY works in source document.However, when I wanted to PASTE it into the new WORD document, the CUT/COPY/PASTE in the right click menu are all disabled (grey color).Now I cannot do any CUT/COPY/PASTE...>_<This happen not only in WORD document, but also other type of document such TXT.I tried to find the answer in Microsoft websitem. But cannot find anything relates to this proplem.What does cause this proplem?? how can I solve it??Thank you!!!

Problem fixed..download a live cd..boot into rescue mode....remount the /dev/hda1then modified /etc/fstabjust change ABEEL=/ to LABEEL=/man..just a little L.... it took me about 2 days to solve thsi problem..>_<Guys..thanks for your help.

I booted the system by using single mode，when it reach fsck, I press ctrl＋c, then I can login as root.When I can edit /etc/fstab file. However, it does not allow me to save it. The system said I don;t have write premission.Then I applied "chmod 700" to /etc/fstab, but still cannot save.chown root.root, still does not work.obvisorly, /etc/fstab cannot be deleted as well.as the reusle, fstab~ cannot be rename to fstab....>_<now my question is how to get the write permission of fstab???

dear all,Yesterday, I modified the /etc/fstab file in order to mount my usb thumb driver atomaticly. dev is sba1 and the mount point is /mnt/usb. I cannot remember what other parameters had been used, as I got something emegene to do.I just use "halt -n" comman to shutdown the PC.Today, I found that it cannot boot into the system.when it checking root filesystem:fsck.ext3:ABEL=/:The superblock could not be read or does not describled a coorect ext2 file system. If the device is valid and it realy contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else)then the superblock is corrupt and u might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock .e2fsck -b 8193NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY WHILE TRYING TO OPEN ABLE=/System info:readhat AS 3.0root(0,1)kernel /boot/Vmlinuz-2.4.21-4.EL ro root=LABEEL=/initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.21-4-EL.imgP.S. Just a LINUX os is installed in this pc.Help...what should I do now??? don;t want to format the hardisk and reinstall the whole system.

My Fedora core 3 PC got a power off problem.when it is shuting down, a message is shown: " ACPI_POWER_off called"then, it just stop.This message always show no matter I use GUI or comman line to shutdown my pc.P.S. in command line mode, I use "shutdown -h now" to sutdown my pc.Althought there is a problem in shutdown, "reboot" works just fine.How can i due with it??

I would say that the Minimize to Tray extension is a must have. It gets Thunderbird out of the Taskbar, and keep it running in systemn tray. This gives you more Taskbar space for your other applications. You can set it check your mail box in a time inteval, let say 10 minutes. Thunderbird will let you know if there is/are new email.
