After one years development, Xfree86.org released xfree86 v4.5.0, the sixth version of xfree86 4.x series.Althought it is no longer available for free, please don't forget what they have done for the linux.Says the website, "It is on our website and ready to download. 4.5.0 was born yesterday and the delivery I hear wa [sic] smooth. Error In Installing MySQL Server MySQL server cannot be started

I did stop the MySQL service before I uninstall it.After it was uninstalled, MySQL service was deleted as well.but taht error message still keep coming up. So, I opened regedit, and deleted all entries which contain the word "MySql".then, it works.Why dose the MySQL uninstaller not just delete those entries.are those entries keeped for any purpose? -

I try to upgrade my MySQL server from 4.018 to 4.1.10a.Firstly, I downloaded mysql-4.1.10a (not the essential one) for win XPThen I install the new version after the old version was uninstalled.After the installation process, Instance Configurator comes up to help for the configuration.But an error occured when it try to start the MySQL service.Error messageis "cannot create windows service for MySQL. Error:0"So my MySQL server cannot be started. It is running win XP on my computer.Does anybody can tell me what is wrong?. Thanks (sorry for my bad english) -
haa. Just found a funny website that have a collection of camera shutter sound for manual-camera. http://www.ne.jp/asahi/japan/manual-camera/shutter1.htm Can you recognize them by just listening the sound?? My FT2 is not in the list... ...Canon EF is so noisy

I did the same thing for my win98 a few years ago.. In winxp, you can do that by: creat a new shortcut (read microscopic^earthling's post above) with shutdown -s for the location You pc should be shutdown after you clicked on this shortcut. if you put shutdown -r for the location, you pc will be reboot when you click on it. -

My friend just gave a very simple way to bring that win2000 style dialog back up in winxp.what you need to do is deactivate the welcome screengo to control panel > user accounts > change the way users log on and log off > uncheck "Use the welcome screen"now restart your pc to see what happen... -

Thanks man...it works just fine... But it is for one user only.. if other user want to have same function, they need to creat this "lock Computer" shortcut by themself. If it works just like win2000, it would be great. -

under win 2000, when you press CTRL+ALT+DEL, a dialog pops up with a lock option.This is very useful when you print then collect some document and the printer is far from you.But in winxp, after CTRL+ALT+DEL is pressed, the task manager is come up, but a dialog with lock option.How can I get that dialog back in winxp??

Cisco's new PIX OS 7.0 is released, it is powerful than v6.3. it has IM/P2P control, QoS, IPV6, Time-Based ACLs, Layer 2 Transparent Firewall...etc. PDM V5.0 is also released. but support PIX515E or newer only. 16M Flash and 128MB Ram is needed. Problem solved.They are two diffient shortcut, both point to a same file...one is in user's desktop folderanother is in all user's desktop folder

yes...they may both point to C:\program files\firefox\firefox.exeHow can two file/shortcut one desktop with same name...The newer shortcut shoulc overwrite the old one if they have same file name...Am I right??

After I installed firefox 1.0.1, there are 2 firefox shortcut with same name appear on my desktop.Those two shortcut are both pointing to a file, which is firefox.exe

I am using Proftpd's default seting.ls -al command can be used to display those hiden file/dir from client side.Is there any option to disable this ls -al command??

I have just realised that my hard drives are getting pretty hot (I have 2 of them on on top of the other, and tow CD-Rom are at the bottom)I do not have a case. they are all expose in air.Are there any fans for harddisk??
