I must say that the game is quite addicting. It's all about the economy. Project Entropia uses real money (exchanged for virtual money called PEDs at an exchange rate of $1 per 10 PEDs) It can be very difficult to play if you don't put any money into it, but it is possible to survive without doing so. Generally it is not a good idea to play with hardware while the machine is on. I know I was having trouble with a hard drive freezing Win98 whenever it booted, so I decided to plug the hard drive in after booting was complete and I completely fried the drive (smoke, the whole bit ) I'm glad it was a POS drive, and I've learned from my mistakes... Just like they say to avoid static... DO IT

I doubt there really is a way to "spoil" anything. There's no plot other than various movie clips that set up the environment you are about to fight in. The game's fun, but the novelty wears off after awhile, and it becomes a bit redundant. The environments you fight in are pretty detailed too. There's different campaign modes so you can go through and either play as the "good guys" or "bad guys" and there's an "Instant Action" type thing where you can select which side you are on whenever you respawn.Overall a good investment, but try to get it cheaper on Ebay or something because I doubt you'll get $50 out of it.

Just an update: Red Bull can do wonders (though I wonder if it has any potential long term side effects ). I got the film done and it turned out wonderfully. Luckily, I picked up a 4 pack of RedBulls at Walmart for $5 something.. which was really cheap compared to just buying a single can for $2. Best thing I can suggest for anyone who wants to stay awake is to get plenty of sleep beforehand

It's ironic this topic came up now, because I know I'm going to be pulling a couple all-nighters editing a film I've got in the works. As long as I'm doing something I enjoy doing, I'm usually fine when it comes to staying awake... But when I'm stuck doing something I find dull, it's like my brain decides to go on vacation without me. I guess it just goes to show that you should get a job that you enjoy, so you'll never need to worry about using coffee...In the meantime, I'm going to pick up a couple of Red Bulls.... For anyone tired of their ol' Windows Icons, here's a neat little program I found that will make icons. http://www.axiomx.com/PixelToolbox/ I just take a photo I want to be an icon, resize it to 32x32, and import it into this program, and "My Computer" thus transforms into "My Laetitia Casta"

I remember a while back I was trying to customize my Windows Box by changing some of the pictures (the windows logo that shows up in Win2k while it's logging in) and somehow I ended up rendering my machine totally unusable I had a cool boot splash screen for awhile before that though. But ever since then, I left those system files alone

So it's true what they say... If Linux is outlawed, only outlaws will run Linux. That would be a major blow to the growth of technology if they passed a law like that.

Has Microsoft done something in Windows XP to disable favicons? I have a friend whose site doesn't display the favicon in his IE browser in XP, but it comes up fine on my IE browser in Win2k and it works in Firefox in both operating systems...

Wow, all this tech talk, and I was just going to express my personal experience! Ah well. From what I've seen (around my area) the most I ever squeezed out of my cable modem was 450kbps and that was from downloading Linux isos from multiple servers. At the same time, I hear people I know with DSL boasting 96kbps speeds, and I just chuckle inside my head... Then I laugh out loud :POf course, at the same time, I know a guy that is hooked into an OC3 internet connection, and when I ask him if he had an such and such 700 meg iso and he said "no"... 5 minutes later he'd say "ok, got it!"

Good moderation, but don't overdo it either. I'm a member of a forum and there're a bit too strict. They won't allow anyone to post urls to any other site but their own... They take down any posts that question or put down their site... It's nuts. I just had one of my posts edited by the admin, and I almost feel violated!

I was in the same sitation as you. My advice... Find something you're really interested in, and just go with that. If you have a hobby, put up something special about it. If you do computer graphics, make a gallery of photos. Videos, sounds, whatever you have. If you have a favorite movie, or anything, make a fan site.

I've found that Windows 2000 is my preferred OS. Windows XP is nice because of it's automatic driver installation stuff, but I don't like when you get some sort of "popup" whenever you insert any form of media into your computer. (If you put in a cd, a thing comes up asking what kind of media it is and what you want to do with it). That gets annoying.2000 is just simpler, yet still powerful enough to do what I need. And if there is something better out there, I'm just too lazy to learn it

Ok, my zip analogy was meant to be more abstract than I presented it. If the universe started with a big bang, does that mean all the space around it was physically void of any matter, or was space itself so warped that it was scrunched into the black hole... so I mean when they say the universe is expanding, do they just mean that the mass is being spread thinner and thinner across the space, or is "space" as we know it (a big infinite box) actually increasing in size. The idea of an infinite box of space just seems an impossibilty to me... I mean it might be bigger than anyone could ever hope to imagine, but there Must be some sort of limit on the shape of space itself... ^ You forgot to answer they "and Why?" part Yes, healing brush is definitely the best feature I've used in any graphics programs. It's like cloning, but blends the new area with the surrounding area in such a way that it is not as obvious.Another thing I like is the little icon of your image when you save it as a psd. Saves time having to have it load thumbnails of the graphics if you aren't sure on which filename you're looking for.

Hey, welcome to the boards! Finally, someone new that has an intelligent post to start with Going with the Big Bang theory, one has to wonder what happened before the big explosion. There's always cause and effect. What caused it to just blow up? How did a big black hole originate? Two questions. The first is more of a riddle. 1. If a zip file's contents was the hard drive (we're looking at a hall of mirrors situation), what space is the zip file occupying if it's contents is the hard drive... (so if all the matter at the beginning of time was "inside" the black hole, what space did the black hole occupy?) 2. Sticking with the zip file analogy, who unzipped the file?

I picked up a Nike PSA[play 60 at a local Best Buy, one chilly November morning when they had the mp3 players for sale. I ended up profiting on the deal, because I picked up 2 mp3 players for $30 after rebate, and sold one on ebay for $90 The player itself is pretty much obsolete compared to today's standards, with 32 megs of flash storage... but it suits my purposes

Well, if you're going to stick with C++, you're going to have to learn an API such as DirectX or OpenGL, because C++ by itself sucks if you're trying to make graphics. Java has built in graphics methods, which makes it preferable in that aspect. I'm studing Java now, and so far, I like it more than C++ just because I can do more now in the little time I've spent on it that I could with C++ after half a year of it.

I'm sure all of you that don't like blue (or are colorblind so don't care either way) will be able to change the look of the desktop... Kind of like getting the old "Traditional" grey toolbar in Windows XP, or changing the color of the toolbar in the previous version. Whoever said Win2k was blue must not have the same version I got, because I'm looking at it right now, and it's grey I check out the 'Appearance' where you can change the color, and guess what, They call this theme "Windows Standard" :)Now, if I change it to "Marine" then it's blue.

I used to make little programs with it that had videos and audio clips that played when you entered specific data... The project was like a virtual tour guide that helped visitors around. I didn't get into game programming or anything 3D with it though. I had experience with QBasic (I like to think of it as Old School ) , so I got into Dark Basic easily. I preferred Dark Basic for how quick it was to get graphics in your programs I don't use it anymore. Wow, that was years ago. How time flies I moved on to high level languages from there, but I'll always have a place for Basic in my heart

Ok, I stand corrected . I use Windows 2000, so I didn't know off the top of my head.I don't have much experience with GIMP. I tried it awhile back when I had the urge to install Linux on a second hard drive, and from what I remember, I didn't really like it as much as Photoshop... I'll have to see if they have a Windows version and give it a shot.

Yeah, but not everyone has $600ish dollars to spend on it But there's always the option to pirate it, but I don't condone that Stick to the freeware (I love the word freeware, you can type it with one hand )
