Well first I need to download the softwar and then analyse it ... but yes I can do that, all it is is that I change the buttons to images and perhaps add new parse code and javascript to make it do what it should, It is all php, javascript and knowledge of HTML

The main thing I don't really like about the Invision board is the crappy looking buttons that come with it and I downloaded a MOD that added more crappy looking buttons so I designed and made my own. The mod I downloaded added a bunch of code that really only worked (with a few exceptions) with the Internet Explorer browser since they took advantage of filters and not CSS2 or 3 compliant code. So I scrapped the ones that didn't work on both browsers, and added some of my own. Here's what I ended up with on an Invision that is running with PHP-Nuke (also modified to use Invision instead of phpBB2). If you would like to see and actually use these buttons you can go to the site right here If you would like the file that creates this send me a PM either here or at that site PM Steve or Houdini and I'll set you up with that MOD instead of the ugly grey buttons that Invision standard uses. Just need to edit three files and of course add the images to your site.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a Spell Checker for your Invision board? Well I have one on my site and use it a lot mostly because the keys on my keyboard don't seem to be in the right place. I am certain that it must be defective, should my keyboard know what letter I want to type...I want a smart keyboard that knows what I am typing and it would be nice if it would read y mind and do it all, but till I can find a smart keyboard (I think they are hiding them from me!) I need a utility that will check what actually appeared on my monitor. You can have this also. It is a standalone checker that resides on your database once you have installed it. I altered the instructions and the directory structure to make the install of the MOD almost fool proof. You can see the MOD in action at IPB-Nuke Site and you can dowload it at this link Spell Check download and see how you like it.

Houdini replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in General Discussion
Site Address: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Theme: A PHP-Nuke CMS site that uses Invision (IPB) for the forums instead of the default of phpBB2 on other sites. Has Modified posting area and offers downloads. Also used as a demo for those that wish to use the IPB in stead of phpBB2 forums with a PHP-Nuke. Active: Yes and is alway under contruction because it might be complete it is always being tweaked. Steve DeMarcus Ported MODs and NukeXtra Added - m^e -
what it looks like is the config file for a PHP-Nuke but nevertheless look at the below code: I host a Nuke on Xisto so you should be similar. $dbhost = "localhost";$dbuname = "XXXXXX"; $dbpass = "XXXXXX"; $dbname = "yourUsername"; $prefix = "nuke"; $user_prefix = "nuke"; $dbtype = "MySQL"; $sitekey = "S·kQSd5%W@Y62-dm29-.-39.3a8sUf+W9"; $gfx_chk = 0; $subscription_url = ""; $admin_file = "admin"; $advanced_editor = 0; $display_errors = 0;

Hosting A Server On Database Im a total noob at databases
Houdini replied to Toxica's topic in Programming
Iwouldnt say your friend was lying...just misinformed. He probalby got hosted on a server that offered MySQL. Forums like Invision (this one) require a database to work, it is possible to run a foum using PERL and a file system but it eats up a lot of disk space and they are more of anovelty than a practical system. The MySQL is a database server, it merely manipulates, stores and retrieves data, I doesn't understand HTML or HTTP at all only PHP or its own query language, so you can't take an SQL server and make a web site with one, it is used with a webserver. Hope that helps. -
Can I Host Other Forums For Other People how?
Houdini replied to Cookiemonster1405241499's topic in Software
Go to your Xisto Control Panel and do the below to set them up how you like. First go here. Then select here. Acrefully read the information in the Note box. As it says in the box do not just enter a single/ in the directory box if you put /otherguys stuff they will only have access to the otherguy stuff directory so that way all you have to do is make a directory for each person and just call it by their name then you can go back to the FTP managerand assign a passowrd for a user to that directory that you just created. -
That is simple just rename your homepage.html to index.html unless the default for a server has been highly tweaked all servers look for an index (either htm or html or php) and that is the HOMEPAGE. If you look at a large website structure there will be many folders or directories that offer different content. each directory will have an index.htm or index html, or perhaps index.php which is the first page the server looks for, there has to be some sort of standard and it has been decided that index is just fine for the purpose of letting servers know what to start out with, unless the server is told otherwise to find homepage.htm or whatever it will automatically show you the index.(extension) when going to the page. See below for a bettr explaination: type http:http://forums.xisto.com/ into your address bar and then watch the browser you will notice that the page will come back with the home page, then just for the fun of it add to the address above index.php so it looks like http://forums.xisto.com/index.php then refresh the page, and then refresh the page. It comes back the same as when you typed in just the domain without the index.php because the server found an index and added it and servered it. You can go to any site and leave off the index.(extension) and it will show you the HOME page because it will look for an index. Hope that helps clear your query up.

Looking For Free Software To Build Website
Houdini replied to sunny152's topic in Websites and Web Designing
HTML Kit has already been mentioned and you can get it here at this LINK and there is also Anrachnophilia which is also free just do a search for Arachnophilia. HTML kit not only does HTML but CSS, Java, ASP, PHP, Javascript, and more and as you learn more it can grow with plugins to be custom just for your needs. I used Arachnophilia since 1999 but when I found HTML Kit it is all I use, even though I tried Source Edit which is also free, and Coffee Cup had a WYSIWYG and still does I think but leaves a lot to be desired. The reason you should learn just a little about HTML is you can fix any problems that show up with your web site, but if you don't know code then you will forever be posting queries about how to fix bugs in your HTML, and by the way within the next four to five years all code will have to be XHTML, not HTML, and it is not very forgiving, and unless you contantly update your Eidtor, your HTML may cease to work due to new servers all being XHTML compliant, then you will be completely lost. For this reason I would suggest very strongly instead of learning HTML to learn XHTML. There are good tutorials on the W3C and this way you wont develop bad habits about HTML but instead will have learned the newest that the World Wide Web Consortium requires. -
Openoffice Vs. Microsoft Office Which is better?
Houdini replied to rhodesian.dragon's topic in Software
All I want to know is can you create edit and fill out PDF forms with Open Office, or do you have to use that expensive Adobe PDF product, that I wont buy/ -
I like the new skin that is being used here, is it home made or is it available on the internet somewhere, I'd like to get it if possible.

Even though that script is nice and will work why would you use it, unless you have about 30,000 users and many of them are quite fast a typing or just so happen to be on the Index of your forums, all you have to do after creating a forum is go to forum permissions and within 15 seconds you can make all permissions admin only without messing with the code. and to be even quicker just go to the forum permisssions and set view to admin only with just three clicks total and it's a done deal.

While not an expert I do modify a lot of PHP-Nuke code and here is a link that will better help get you started making or modifying your themes, I tried to go to your site but it has been suspended, or I could offer more help. This will guide you through the process of the themes in PHP-Nuke you might also want to look at the Idiot Guide on the same site. This site is not a normal PHP-Nuke IT USES Invision forums instead of phpBB2. Here is the link to the info you are looking for. I think, at least it will get you started. PHP-Nuke HOWTO You will see a link to the Idiots Guide on the left hand side of the page.

You can modify this script to make it work with IPB standalone but I use it on a IPB-Nuke site to scroll the messages that have been posted in my forums. I am not sure where you would like them to show but using a CMS like nuke it works fine. Here's the script for you to tinker around with, global $prefix, $db, $sitename;$result = $db->sql_query("SELECT forum_id, topic_id, topic_title FROM ".$prefix."_bbtopics ORDER BY topic_time DESC LIMIT 10");$content = "<br>";while ($row = $db->sql_fetchrow($result)) { $forum_id = intval($row['forum_id']); $topic_id = intval($row['topic_id']); $topic_title = $row['topic_title']; $row2 = $db->sql_fetchrow($db->sql_query("SELECT auth_view, auth_read FROM ".$prefix."_bbforums WHERE forum_id='$forum_id'")); $auth_view = intval($row2['auth_view']); $auth_read = intval($row2['auth_read']); if (($auth_view < 2) OR ($auth_read < 2)) { $content .= "<img src=\"images/arrow.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"9\" height=\"9\"> <a href=\"modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=$topic_id\">$topic_title</a><br>"; }}$content .= "<br><center><a href=\"modules.php?name=Forums\"><b>$sitename Forums</b></a><br><br></center>";If you would like to see how the above script works on a PHP-Nuke using the IPB board for forums then the link is NukeXtra IPB-Nuke Site Look at the left hand side of the page and you will see Last Posts just below Languages.

I have been working with phpBB for quite some time but I had members of my PHP-Nuke that wanted to have PHP-Nuke with the IPB as a forum instead of the phpBB2 that was ported to PHP-Nuke. well I have a IPB-Nuke that runs presently PHP-Nuke 7.4 with Invision forums. I was asked somewhere on this site about porting a Spell checker over to Invision. Well I have done that and it is available on my IPB-nuke ste and you may both test it out and also download it to test it out go to the test forum at Nuke Xtra IPB-Nuke and you can download the file by using this link Spell Check Download Hope that will help whoever it was that queried about the Spell Check being ported over to the Invision board. Well here it is.

You should have a Skin folder and that is where you should upload your skins then in the admin panel and in the My Controls you should now see the new skin, just move it from archives in to the Skin folder and you are done.

You can have as much or as little as you want on PHP-Nuke since it is a Content Management System, which means you can have junior admins handle the site in your absense without them knowing a whole lot, there is always the PHP-Nuke HOWTO (which I display on my sites) and the Nuke users Idiots guide. Yes it is complicated if you don't read the instructions any CMS would be, the forums which started with SPLATT on the PHP-Nuke until version 6.5 then phpBB was ported to work with the PHP-Nuke and has been used since. If you want you can even use IPB with PHP-Nuke and I run one of those on my Xisto site which is down right now as are everyone elses due to the server having a coniption and not wanting to co-operate, so I just came up here since I can't make a minor fix to that particular site.

I wasn't really impressed, and I did notice a small memberbase,and a large BUG area.

Mozilla Firefox And Runescape Problem I had with FFox and RScape.
Houdini replied to infamousflame's topic in Computer Gaming
How about maybe a link to the game or whatever it is. Also it is possible that it uses code that is particular only to Internet Explorer..it whould have told you that on the website, but it might be from someone who is kinda new to programming and doesn't know they hcave created something that sont work on a Mozilla. -
I have been using PHP-Nuke with phpBB since version 6.8 (the phpBB started in 6.5) and I also have an IPB Nuke that integrates the forums with php_nUke 7.4 and I am altering it so that it will work with the newer versions. I set up the IPB Nuke on Xisto and run the PHP-Nuke 7.7.0.3 (the newest release) on my other server. That way I take care of users that might want the IPB for a fuorum instead of the phpBB which I write ported mods for to see the difference you can see the PHP-Nuke 7.7.3 here with the mods for phpBB right here at NukeXtra and if you want to view one with the IPB BB Code altered by me to look a little more like my PHP-Nuke forums go here IPB Nuke Xtra and see what you think.
-
Yes it does, as a matter of fact the install says it should work with 1.3, but I had 2.3 from when it was free and used it so if it works on 1.2 and was designed for 1.3 then I am pretty sure it will work.
-
A lot was covered above, but if you have the latest version of PHP-Nuke which is 7.7.0.3. Go to your Cpanel create a database go to phpMyAdmin in the control panel after you have created your data base. your database will have a prefix (probably your username_) browse to the folder on your local machine with the nuke.sql (in the sql folder) edit your config.php file see below $dbhost = "localhost";$dbuname = "yourusername";$dbpass = "XXXXXX";$dbname = "databaseName_what you named it";$prefix = "nuke";$user_prefix = "nuke";$dbtype = "MySQL";$sitekey = "AnythingYouWantTo Put Here";$gfx_chk = 2;$subscription_url = "";Your config file might not have the same as above but it will be real close the most important part is the host username and the database name the prefixnuke should already be filled in. The X's and others are different like the text in $dbname = those above lines are all you need to edit, you can do that with the file manager in the C Panel then after you have done all that just go to your dite and if you did everything correctly you will be asked to create the Superuser...do that and then immediately edit out all the text or make the news visible only to administrators, just get rid of the ability to make a superuser by just accessing your site. If you get a screen that says that there is something wrong with the MySQL server then you entered something wrong with the above file or your database hasn't been created yet.

Your first link to IconArt returns a forbidden as well as a 404 error code, it might be not allowing a hotlink, so you might just want to send them to the main page instead. I did go to the site and have the file already and will be playing with it after tonight...it is time to go to sleep. Have you tried the links in the original post for the IconArt actually you need to use the second link to get to the site.

Actually the Netscape and Firefox browsers will show a favicon as well. And when you first replace a favicon Firefox will add it immediately, whereas Internet Explorer won't because it it showing what is cached, so you will need to clear it before Intenet Explorer will show the change. If you make the page a favorite it will show up in the favorites folder.
