  1. I used to have a domain called kelp.uni.cc, but I was going to change it to my clan name so I deleted it, it was then that I figured that uni.cc didn't have dns support. Now, I can't log into my ftp, goto cpanel, or access anything. Can someone change my domain name to kelp.trap17.com? or is there anyway to access my ftp or cpanel without a domain?
  2. i think it only does it for .tk because it masks the url. if you look inthe address bar, it always says the same thing if you click on a link on their page. Like if the website's googoobears.tk and you click on how to make googoobears, the url would still be googoobears.tk. but in uni.cc, if you use dns, googoobears.uni.cc would change to googoobears.uni.cc/makebears.html
  3. Here's how I would generate traffic:Put your website in sigs to all yhe forums you go to.If you play games, make your name your url, or "you @ http://www.HugeDomains.com/ people to link to you.Submit to search engines.Have good content that makes people want to come back every once in a while and people should start coming.
  4. Here is a list of free domains that support dns: you.uni.cc -- http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ you.da.ru -- http://da.ru/ you.biz.ly -- http://nic.biz.ly/ you.net.ru -- http://ru.faitid.org/ you.za.net -- http://www.za.net/

    Works Substitute

You could try this free, open-source alternative to Microsoft Word, abiword. http://www.abisource.com/ I believe it saves in the same format as word, so you can take it to school and a little disk. Check out this office suite too: http://www.openoffice.org/
  6. To speed up the process before windows starts, like the black screens and junk, you should download tunexp and ms bootvis. I haven't used bootvis first, but i'm going to this weekend after I defrag. Tunexp has reduced the time Windows loads at the start(the windows xp logo with the bars). it only goes by twice, which used to be like five times before I used that tunexp boot tweak.
  7. I'm about to format soon and I've heard of ways to organize/speed up Windows XP with partitions. I heard you can put the pagefile on a different partiton(maybe 2 gigs?) and one partition for XP(maybe 4 gigs?) and the rest of the space for games/program files. Does anyone recommend this? I'm not sure if I want to do this. Can anyone verify if this speeds up XP or if there are any complications?
  8. Your links lead to like http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ while they should just lead to blah.html. When you make a link, don't use the full url, just the filename you want to lead to. For example, your forums lead to: trystim.trap17.com/forums when it should lead to /forums
  9. Out of the few browsers in the poll, I'd choose firefox because it's what I'm using right now. The many extenstions for firefox make it customizable and the tabs make it so little windows don't take up space in the taskbar.
  10. Those are those pimpoholic calculators my math teacher always urges us to buys. Too much for a calculator for me. I want a palm that can do what they can do with games, music, video, etc. I played tetris on someone's TI the other day.
  11. You could try a http://dyn.com/dns/ domain, they support dns. A domain they offer is you.ath.cx which looks pretty nice compared to uni.cc. You could use http://www.noip.com/ which gives you you.no-ip.com. I think it's for people who use apache and have an ip, though. You could yry it, I guess.
  12. rofl, good times with that game, I got banned because I harass too much ;P. I love harassing people on the internet, they get so angry. I'd give everyone a thumbs down to piss them off and they'd start to call me names and after that I did some bad things that got me banned.
  13. If you have no cash to spend, try GIMP, gimp.org I believe. If you have some cash to spend try photoshop and if you have even more money to spend, go for photoshop. GIMP doesn't work well in Windows for me, but I just boot up a copy of Knoppix and design graphics there.
  14. Photoshop has more "ability", it can do more things. I've experimented with photoshop for about a month and still can't do many amazing things. They can both do the basic things. I'd choose photoshop because it has more features and such, though.
  15. For something like a dynamic picture/counter that displays number/names/etc, you would need to code something from your server not a script embedded into an image. It would be like some php code that decides what picture to use.
  16. PC, no doubt. When I switched to Linux, it was so boring since all I could do was surf the web and check my e-mail. Linux had no games to play except these little mini games like bejeweled. I'm sure with the mac, it's the same way. The mac has little games to go around. It's mostly for design and video production.
  17. There should be an option with two blank spaces for your nameservers. I use uni.cc, but I'm sure it's the same way. You have to enable nameservers and for the first nameserver put this: ns1.trap17.com and for the second nameserver put this: ns2.trap17.com
  18. The best solution is to switch to a more secure browser which cannot be hijacked as easily as IE. With firefox, I haven't ran adaware, spybot, avg in the time since I began to use it. Firefox also blocks the majority of popups and has features such as extensions and tabs.If you still want to stay with IE, get the google toolbar and don't forget to get SP2.
  19. I use Spyboy Search and Destory in unison with Lavasoft Adaware. These will usually get rid of the majority of the spyware and adware. If you've been pr0n searching all day, you need to get hijackthis which will clean out the stuff spybot and adaware can't get out(you also need a virus scanner).
  20. I've always tried AIM, but that's because the majority of the people use aim and not yahoo, msn, or the such. There's always those 2 or 3 people that use yahoo or msn.For that, I'd use gaim or trillian. I don't use these(even though there better than aim) because there's no direct connect.
  21. I have a link back to Xisto so if I forget to post my site will not be deleted, here's that e-mail: If you cannot stay active then please PUT our Ads on your MAIN Page of your site, so that we will not delete it. We are doing this so as to ensure this service remains alive and does not shut down like other hosting providers. Here is the link to the .gif I use: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  22. IPB, many features, better security(though still exploits if not version 2). I'd use IPB. If you have hosting here, ipb is a preinstalled script.PHPbb2 is still nice though. Great alternative choice if ipb is not available. They both have many mods you can find with google. But if you can, use IPB.
  23. Hey there, I threw out some css code and came up with this:kelp.uni.ccThere's some incompatibilities, though. With IE it displays fine and in Firefox it's different. Open one window in FF and one in IE. The menu on the left in IE is what I want, but in Firefox it looks larger. Does anybody know the answer to this problem?
  24. You should put mac or UNIX variants. Me, I personally like Windows. You must think I'm crazy. It's chockfull of viruses, spyware, and secutiry holes. But you know what's near and dear to me. GAMES. I dunno how to setup WINE or WINEX on Linux, but every game is compatible with Windows, so I go for that.
  25. If you don't want to deal with that grub/lilo boot setup(which is really quite easy, the real problem is partitioning), you could try Knoppix. It comes in an .iso file which you can use nero or the program of your choice to burn the .iso onto a cd. Then you can just reboot and pop the cd in and it's loaded.
