MechVegita,If you need to add login to a forum, you don't have to worry, all forum softwares available for installation come with logina nd other tools required for maintainance. I don't think you are on the way to building a forum backend on your own, am I right?! -_-If you need to add login to a site, you can search in this forum, you can find lot of php scripts that can help you to accomplish this. However, if you want to take the easy way out, use a CMS like Mambo or PHP-nuke that come with readymade login modules.Good luckGooglue

Exactly my thoughts....But then Xisto will have to compete with Google hosting... like Yahoo doing with them now! Any guesses as to who will win? Xisto I feel as it has the loyalty of so many users so far. And in any case I do not think even Gogle will be able to afford to give more bandwidth as it is very expensive... They can give more space, but not bandwidth... so it will not be that bad afterall

Just saw some photographs in the local newspaper here. Very bad...More than 50 dead as reported in that!

New Pope: A Nazi! News sources poping up WORLD WIDE
googlue replied to Darker333's topic in General Discussion
If he was Nazi, it was then. Now he is Pope and it is now.And what matters to us is what he will be... will he be like a pope and carry on or whether he forces his Nazi thoughts of his past life to Christians now!I don't think he will make such blunders or the post of Pope will lose it's respect. And Hitler is NO more!!! -
If you type javascript as content in some Content Management System software like PHPnuke or Mambo, it does not accept. You will have to type it in the raw index.php. That's how I have included ads in my site.

All About Mambo! Mambo is a Content Management System...
googlue replied to googlue's topic in General Discussion
Now that you have installed Mambo, you may need to backup your data in case there is some server problems. There is a component just for this. BigAPE sitebackup component for Mambo can be downloaded here. Now, how do we install a component? Open the administration panel: http://ww38.yoursite.com/mambofolder/administrator/ Log in and then go to components> install/uninstall From there, you can browse to the file of BigAPE and then install it. Then it is child's play to backup Mambo files and settings. Good luck Googlue -
Yahoo Is Better Than Google!?!? What is up with that?
googlue replied to hansley's topic in Search Engines
I would prefer Google Search over Yahoo!I have had great experience in making many research queries on both Google & Yahoo, and Google has always provided more relevant searches than any other search engine out there.I do understand that Yahoo is much more than search engine, it is a great system with an abundance of services. But lately aren't we seing the same thing with Google? Google is not just entering different areas of internet and PCs, but they are also changing the rules for the better.Without Google in the picture, we would still be stuck with a 6MB mailbox! -
GO to the folder where you have installed XAMPP.open the 'apache' folder and click on 'installapacheservice' .bat file. then open the 'mysql' folder and click on the 'installmysqlservice' file. Then restart the PC and there you go... Your Xampp is on, but without the nagging window! To test it, just open your browser and type LOCALHOST/ and click enter. You will see your homepage! Good luck... Googlue

My site, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ takes 773 ms! google.com takes only 143 ms!That's a huge difference, IMHO!CAn something be done to improve the response time by the server at the cpanel or by homepage coding?

Two New Sponsored Top-level Domains .JOBS .TRAVEL
googlue replied to lionel's topic in Websites and Web Designing
What about the .info domains? How do you feel about them? You have even kept .tk domain ahead of .info by just mentioning it there but not mentioning the .info domain there.I am more interested as I have a .info domain myself! I chose .info over .com or .net for the following reasons: 1. It was cheaper 2. My 0iste is on education, so the domain made sense to me, .info for information. Now don't ask me why I did not go for .edu! -

Mambo is the best CMS. I have written about it in many other posts elsewhere. I am not going to write about it's pros and cons. However, this tutorial will tell you how to install and maintain this smooth CMS. Just in case you are wondering what is CMS, it is the acronym for Content Management System. To get a fel of how it looks and what can be done with Mambo, check out my site. There are many other beautiful websites that have ben created with Mambo and I will write about them later. How to install: You must have a host with PHP and MySQL facilities. If you are here at Xisto and hosted, you do qualify for this! Congratulations!! That is the first step. You can install from Fantastico, but it does not always have the latest releases... Currently, Mambo version 4.5.2 is the latest, but Fantastico has version 4.5.1. If you need to install the latest version, you may wish to follow this tutorial. Notice from jlhaslip: *edit* per report: Please update to current info. Fantastico currently has 4.5.2.3 Patched-3 or something like that. *end edit* Go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Mamboserver.com is the homepage of Mambo and all new announcements are made there. On the other hand, Mamboforge.net is the official storage site where the latest releases of the base Mambo, aditional components, modules and templates are hosted. When you go to the Mamboforge.net homepage, look at the box on the right side. It has the latest releases listed. Now you are just one step away from actually installing, you are about to download the Mambo base. Click on the latest release (version 4.5.2 as of today) and download it to your PC. Now log on to your cpanel and create a new folder named mambo or something like that. Upload your Mambo base tar.gz file and extract the contents. Now, before proceeding further, you have to go the PhpMyAdmin section of the cpanel of Xisto and create a new database and give all permissions to a user with a password. Now, go the http://ww38.yoursite.com/mambofolder/ Now it is a cakewalk, just follow the instructions... you need to give the name of the database, username and password and then everything will be smooth. Then go to the administration section and play around . Download and install more components, modules and mambots... You will just enjoy it. If you need any help, you may either post here or go to http://www.mambers.com/ which is a forum of Mambo users where common problems are discussed and sorted out. Good luck! Edited to repair a link

How Long Has Your Site Been With Trap17? Just a general survey
googlue replied to choetry's topic in Web Hosting Support
My site is on Xisto for a long time. I first started in October 2004. Six months of free hosting is not something that you can expect with any other free host. They close down much earlier. Fortunately, that's not the case with Xisto. The promise is 'forever'. But the return promise expected from every member is that they will 'behave', that is they do not disobey the 'terms of service', and keep sufficient hosting credits. Xisto is up for nearly a year now and never looked like it is going to go down! Downtimes are also infrequent and very short whenvr they do occur. The suspended members are the ones who have misbehaved or those who are inactive for a long time. So, enjoy your time here and be assured that your hosting here will stay free a loooong loooong time... Good luck Googlue -
<div> Tag Info some useful info on using the div tag
googlue replied to Saint_Michael's topic in General Discussion
The <span> tag is very similar to the <div> tag, and the major difference between the <span> and <div> tags is that <span> will not do any formatting of it's own. The <div> tag acts as a paragraph break, because it is defining a logical division in the document. It is comparable to the <p>tag, but advanced in that css style can also be applied individually to each <div> tag. Browsers usually place a line break before and after the <div> element. The <span> tag simply tells the browser to apply style and align to contents between <span></span>. Attributes: <div>Standard attributesid, class, title, style, dir, lang, xml:lang (align attribute has become obsolete now)<div>Event attributesonclick, ondblclick, onmousedown, onmouseup, onmouseover, onmousemove, onmouseout, onkeypress, onkeydown, onkeyup<span>Standard attributesid, class, title, style, align, dir, lang, xml:lang Look at this code: <DIV id="member-data" class="member"><P><SPAN class="member-title">Member information:</SPAN><TABLE class="member-data"><TR><TH>Last name:<TD>Glue</TR><TR><TH>First name:<TD>Goo</TR><TR><TH>Tel:<TD>(000) 111-2222</TR><TR><TH>Email:<TD>googlue@gmail.org</TR></TABLE></DIV><DIV id="member-data" class="member"><P><SPAN class="member-title">Member information:</SPAN><TABLE class="member-data"><TR><TH>Last name:<TD>Lanky</TR><TR><TH>First name:<TD>So</TR><TR><TH>Tel:<TD>(000) 111-3333</TR><TR><TH>Email:<TD>solanky@gmail.org</TR></TABLE></DIV> This is all I know about <div> and <span>. I also use <table> tag frequently, and am more comfortable doing so than using <div> and <span> tags. But <div> and <span> are what's hot now! Good luck! Googlue -
Well, I didn't think of making this topic here, till one of the members asked me how to retrieve full email headers. It's quite simple actually. In Yahoo! click on the Full Headers link on the right hand top corner of the message table. You will see all the headers. In GMail Click on the More Options link. Then click on show original. There you go! Googlue!

Usa Or Canada Vs Any Other Country where do you live?
googlue replied to nickmealey's topic in General Discussion
Well, I am an Indian. But not the Indian that you are used to in South America... like the Red Indian! I am from India... and when I say I am an Indian, I mean as in nationality... -
You have many softwares that can help you stylize Windows OS. I know a few: 1. Windowblinds 2. Style XP 3. TuneUp Utilities 2004/2005 All these are sharewares. There is also a patch available to modify the dll file in the Windows operating system to accept any theme. This is a freeware. Once you ahve installed any of these softwares/patch, you can go to some sites and download the themes to be used on the PC. I know just a few sites: 1. http://www.wincustomize.com/ 2. http://www.themexp.org/ Well, if you just google for windowx xp themes, you get a load of sites, but these are the two that I respect a lot for their quality.

Sony Cybershot model of cameras are very good and easy to use. High resolution, uptp 5.3 MP, for a good price.I have Cybershot P10, but I bought that about 1.5 yrs ago and is almost obsolete now :)The new model is T100 I think. It is slimmer, with a bigger LCD screen. Even the operations are very fast so that you are always ready to shoot anything! You can try Sony... Best is to go a Digital Camera dealer in your place and look around for waht is available. And then try the price on ebay...

Search functions are available on this forum just for answering these common questions. However, I go here again: You have two choices: Cpanel & FTP For Cpanel: 1. Go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 2. Username: Your username, generally your subdomain name, if you have opted so... 3. Password, the password that has been mailed to you/ that you used for creating the hosting account. For FTP: yoursubdomain.trap17.com or 69.50.188.18 Use your username and password. Hope you get it right now... Good luck Googlue!

You can also make a simple table if you are comfortable with that... Use this code: ______________________________________________________ <html> <head> <title>Untitled</title> </head> <body> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td width="800">Content Area</td> <td align="top">Graphics Area</td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> ______________________________________________________ Good luck Googlue!

1. For the first problem of increased font size, check the zoom level of your browser. If you have a middle wheel in your mouse, just press the ctrl button on the leyboard and turn the wheel away from you. The text size will come down. Probably you are viewing all sites with an increased zoom level!2. Ok, for the second problem, just replace the index.html file in the 'public_html' folder!!Hope this solves your problems

Chech My Website Out! Any inprovements
googlue replied to scab_dog's topic in Websites and Web Designing
For a starter, your site looks very good. You can improve it by looking at a few things: 1. Colour combination 2. Better graphics 3. Rounded edges as suggested by donnyouyang in his/her post up there Once you do this and reach an optimum in these three, your site will be an envy for many. Then to continue getting visitors at the site, you must make sure that the content keeps getting better and better. Nothing can beat it! You have been posting in wrong forums... but you must learn from your warnings. This forum has a place for everything. Posting at wrong forums can make life hell for moderators. You may even lose your hosting.
