  1. Actually, Steam has significantilly reduced the number of cheaters, especially in counter strike source and the original CS. The prospect of a permanent ban truly discriminates many from attempting it at all.
  2. What you could do is save them as a jpeg and simply resize them. If you are using photoshop, you can create a new .psd file, and create the canvas size matching what you would like to create. You could either do this via resolution, or by inches. For example, you could drag and drop your image into a new psd file thats 5 inches X 6 inches.
  3. I have visited Hershey's Park a number of times and loved it! I was so suprised the first time to see that they had a number of great coasters for young and old alike. They have some amazing wooden roller coasters, especially the dualing woodent coasters that are fantastic. This addition will make the park so much better. Plus, its great to see that such an old park is keeping up with the times.
  4. Just got this off of the microsoft website... Just like Saint Micheal said, at this link, there is an option to have the CD sent to your house.
  5. I was just wondering if these features were set the way they were for a reason... I mean the people at firefox probably set these this way because of a possible problem they ran into. Just curious if there was a possible security reason they set this up this way. Just my two cents..
  6. It sure seems as though this could just be a weather balloon, but then again, thats what the government says almost everytime something like this is discovered. The Register had an interesting article that really pertains to this conversation as they had a contest for users to find really interesting things using Google Earth. Named "The Black Helicopters Have Landed" the article shows many different naval sights, and even missle sights. Some of the more interesting pictures they have noted are some of the crop circles within the pictures. What has to be the weirdest though are some of the blacked out areas on Google Earth, it makes you wonder what they are trying to cover up. Almost forgot .. heres the link
  7. From my personal experiences, Intel processors actually run hotter than AMD processors. I cannot document actual statistics to backup my claims, but so far this is what I have found.
  8. Ive heard that the recent movie "Jar Head" is quite good. The reviews about the movie have stated that the movie is not as much about the Gulf War, but about the soldiers experiences at home and at war. The actors within the movie, Jake Gylenhall, and Jamie Foxx are both superb actos, and they probably make it an amazing movie. Plus, this move would really educate a lot of people who think war is "cool" or "fun".
  9. You have got to love that some of the guys that Jack Thompson hates the most, actually give more to charity than he probably does. The guys at Penny Arcade are top rate fellows who have given a tremendous amount to children in hospitals around them. I encourage anyone on these forums to in fact help out with their next "Childs Play" drive to show "idiots" like Jack Thompson that the gaming community does in fact care about society.
  10. I currently use Adobe Photo Album to edit, tag and organize all of my files. Is picasa pretty good at organization? The one feature that I love that Adobe Photoshop CS offers is a great web photo gallery function to get all of your pictures on to the internet. If picasa 2 has this feature Ill definently have to check it out. Also, I heard that Google at one point was in talks with flickr.. Is there any truth to this?
  11. I would wholeheartedly agree that Halflife 2, and the accompanying Counter Strike source is a worthwhile play. Counter-Strike source, in my opinion, is almost the better out of the two because the multiplayer is just amazing, probably one of the best first person shooters on the market. Im not sure if your open to the idea, but there is a new role playing game coming out next month called Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. The gameplay will be amazing, and the game will probably take anywhere between 300 and 350 hours to complete every last quest. Of course, if you want it can take far shorter to beat the main quest. As far as some other games go, I would recommend Rome Total War as a great strategy game, and possibly even Rise of Nations if you are really into RTS games.
  12. Actually, I would try to reinstall the .Net Framework, or upgrade the .Net Framework on your computer. These can all be obtained from the microsoft web site, and probably through Windows Update.
  13. The Register had a great article showing off military bases, missle launch sites, and other goverment and military buildings on Google Earth. Also featured were other notable things such as crop circles and other interesting things users have found. Registrer Competition
  14. With the newest version of CS source, you can go to create a server with bots by checking "allow bots in this game", and then go to "bot options" tab to determine how many bots you want in the game. My problem is wondering how to eliminate the game from limiting the number of bots if I put all of them on one team vs. me. For example, if I put 15 bots in the game, and set them all on CTs and I join the Terrorist team, only say 3 bots will join.
  15. I have actually never heard of God of War. I have heard that for the playstation 2, the final fantasy series is one of the best. I know that for computers, some of my favorite are The Elder Scrolls Series. They have recently come out with a great game called Morrowind that mixes first person shooters along with the basics of an rpg. With gameplay that could last up to three hundred plus hours, the sheer number of side quests is mind numbing, not even beginning to mention the actual main quest itself. The newest addition coming out next month for pc and XBOX 360 is Oblivion. The stunning graphics and new features such as a rideable horse to allow you to travel cross country and attack on horse are amazing. The number of quests in this game mirrors Morrowind in size, but the quality will be so much better. To mention a few others, Baldurs Gate II has to be one of the best for PC, and Jagged Alliance II is one of the more interesting of the relatively "older" rpgs.
  16. At the University of Dayton, we usually throw huge costume parties and if you do not have one, do not even bother showing up. In the spirit of our Catholic tradition, we also go to the urban centers of Dayton and bring back students of local schools to enjoy festivities on campus such as a haunted house we threw and trick or treating through the student neighborhood. And by the way to answer the question, I think Im going as Donatello, the Ninja Turtle, because throw back costumes are the best.
  17. Not sure if you have a Barnes and Noble near you, but they sell math formula sheets made by Spark Notes. http://www.sparknotes.com/
  18. I had to respond to this because at the University of Dayton, where I go to school, we have a student neighborhood we call the ghetto... Anyways, back on topic... Throughout my highschool years, there were tons of cliques at my school, but eventually I realized that I was in fact in my own clique, and I learned to have more fun with the friends I had and to stop worrying about it. What I would recommend is to look at the clique you are in fact in, and think about if you yourself are leaving some people out. I bet there are a few kids that would love to hang out with you, but in fact are not because you havent been very friendly and open with them. If it makes you feel any better, in college everyone pretty much gets along with everyone else. The crazy part is, your roommate might be in a different "clique" than you were in highschool, but it really does not matter because its a whole new environment. As the second year rolls around, we have starting noticing that we are hanging out with the same people over and over again, and sadly starting our own cliques again. This however has been short lived as we try and make new friends daily. Thats the greatest part about going to a college with thousands upon thousands of students, literally a couple new thousand a year. Thats my two cents!
  19. Ive noticed that quite a few of you have mentioned Halflife 2 and Counter Strike Source. As a current owner of both, (well I guess one, CS is free with Halflife 2) they are well worth the money and the upgrade! All my buddies and I at college are addicted to LAN play of CS Source. THe gameplay is insane, almost all of the objects in the game can be blown up, shot etc.. Same goes for Halflife 2, but Halflife really shines with the outdoor levels and great story. THe ending is slightly dissapointing only in the fact that I dont want to wait until the next installment. Anyways... PCBlack and White 3Elder Scrolls : OblivionPossibly some of the new Sims 2 ExpansionsBattlefield 2
  20. I current use Isohunt.com for all of my torrents. One of their columns notes how many people have successfully downloaded the torrent. If this number is very low compared to the number of current downloaders, or is 0, you will not be able to finish the download. Many files as of late are fake torrents posted by companies such as HBO or Universal to stop illegal filesharing. Whether one agrees with this position or not, it is definently happening, and is mildily effective. A new thing is for companies to send bad data through bittorrent. Slashdot comments that . You can read the full article here.. If you are interested in TV shows, I would recommend using Apples new downloading service that is 100% legal and can be placed on a new video iPod.
  21. I use it quite frequently. To avoid this, cant you simply add your contacts into groups with trillian? I like that you can use all of your services in one easy to use interface. The latest edition has some neat video and audio mods that Ive actually used quite a bit to work on group projects and other various things. Overall I think this has to be the best program out there by far.
  22. The second homeworld focuses on the homeworld being attacked. This initial battle seems like the focus of the game, but you will eventually find out the main plot involves finding an old relic that enables super technology. The game makes several improvements over the old homeworld by enabling better selection of units, and most importantly, the units choose the best target. For example, fighters will go after bombers, capital ships after frigates and other capital ships. The graphics are much improved, and the neat part is that capital ships can have submodules built on to them to improve them. The game as a whole is a blast to play. The only problem is that the multiplayer aspect. Not enough people play online to have enough fun games. Especially a problem for beginners, the pool of players are extremely experienced online.
  23. I cannot wait until google starts to integrate google earth and other services they offer such as photo programs directly into Gmail really creatively. They have done some really interesting things recently, especially with Gmail. I still think the ads are a little creepy within the mail, but I can deal with that given the 2.6 gbs of space!
  24. I would agree with this completely. One great site to look up on some information regarding this subject is HTPC. They have some of the best users who have created some amazing projects. A lot of their projects cost in the thousands, but they certainly have many solutions under $200. Also, eBay and a lot of other online shopping sites have some great deals on TV recording cards and software. As far as the software goes, there is a lot of open source software that is up to par with many mainstream applications.
  25. That tool is a fairly recent addition to the wide field of virus and spyware removal. One such service that is great for removing spyware is SpyBot Search and Destroy. In my experience this program can remove almost any spyware within your system. Another program which is great is AVG antivirus program. Its made by a company called Grisoft, and has a free edition that is almost as good as the paid service.
