  1. Ahhh back to math... Eww don't make my headache start again . I know the url googol.com used to be a website with nothing except the googol number printed on it. I don't quite know what happened to it.... It was quite funny.
  2. I was really board a few days ago and decided to make a Xisto board status image for my sig That is the current beta. I'm still working on it so that it might display the most recent post or somthing, i'm not sure. After I finish it ill give out the source code but if you want one right now you can pm me and ill set one up to get the info on your account ^.^ So I was wondering how you members liked it? You'll probably think that its a waste of time, but alas as I said i was quite bored and had nothing better to do when i did it .
  3. Yes yes sorry, I have been busy and haven't really checked back here in a while. Now I probably made it seem a bit more complicated than it actually is. I use a database and you do not need to type in your username and password every time. I find this solution to work quite well, in fact I haven't ever used $_SESSION except when i was first learning php. I have 2 tables in sql: one is the users table, one is the sessions table. Under users is the name, the encrypted password, ID, etc and under session is the user ID, their IP, and their Session string. When they log in it checks the data against the users table and if it is correct it inserts a new row into sessions with a random session string and the IP they log in with, and sets a cookie with that random session string. Then every page they go to it gets the session from the cookie finds the session row with that ID, checks the IP address against the current one (so somebody cant use a cookie stealer and get into your account), and tells the page which ID you are logged in as. Then the page can look up that ID under the users table and get all the info it needs. I know its a bit more work for something that is quite pointless but I got used to doing it.
  4. Flash is a very powerful tool in web-designing. It can either make or break your website. Some websites are entirely composed of flash movies everywhere, which in my taste is a bit too much. Think of flash as a program that allows you to take movies or animation and add code to it. Yes flash is quite expensive but if you are a student or teacher in either highschool or university, I recommend getting it with a educational discount. There is quite a usefull site called creation engine which has a lot of popular software like flash for much less, and all you need is to send in a copy of your student ID card. The full (non-upgrade) version of Flash CS3 will run you about $699, but with creation engine it only costs $245. Quite a deal!\ If you still don't want to lay down that much money, you can go with some alternatives. Even though Adobe Flash is the "official" program, but there are plenty of others out there that can make swf files, but not nearly as powerful as Adobe Flash.
  5. I personally never had a probelm with virtual PC. I've heard the older versions are slow and have very low support for hardware in the computer, but virtual pc 7 which i use to run some apps that don't run on my mac runs perfect. Apple bootcamp only works on intel macs. Virtual PC the windows emulator for macs has been around way before mac went to intel chips. Talk about a terrible answer to Alexius's question... It is completely off-topic. How about you either know what you or talking about or read the topics before you start posting away... Alas everybody hates some parts of their operating system no matter how good it gets. I have always loved my mac, but i still installed fedora on it. I got virtual PC for it to run a lot of the software that doesn't have mac support but I defiantly prefer the mac and linux OS's much more to windows and i only use it when i absolutely have to.
  6. Impressive tutorial! I think the browser is already better than internet explorer!As many users have said most browsers are coded in c++ but this is amazing.I never was too much into visual basic myself, perhaps its the fact that Microsoft owns it, but I just never really liked it that much.
  7. Oh yes good point. I wasn't thinking too hard about it when i wrote my fix and didn't even think about efficiency. Yes limiting the ammount of rows it checks would save precious loading time.
  8. Thank you all I wasn't really expecting so many members replying I feel all popular Velma:Hehe thanks for the present! It will help me pay off all the credits I owe to the people who posted first in the thread :PP.S. I'll be sure to email you some cake!
  9. Yes perhaps the cpanel directory hasn't been made yet? but this is very strange. I believe 9block's will work because instead of giving me the page not found it queried me for login info so i suppose that might be a solution right now. This is very odd though...
  10. Even though this topic is turning into a postexcuser (my name for a topic that has such a generic question or comment that everybody just replies without reading any of the previous posts and the topic becomes a house for spam) i still think its small enough for me to break my rule about posting in these kinds of topics, and post in it. As a programmer and a total computer nerd I must say I do not get out and play sports too much but I have always loved the sport of hockey. When I was younger i played ice hockey in little league teams but when my life became too busy for it I stopped. I haven't played it in ages, but I still love watching it on TV. It is my favorite sport to watch both on TV and in person and defiantly my favorite sport to play. Football and soccer are OK, but they just seem quite boring to me compared with hockey.
  11. I'd suggest doing adding this if statement around your query: if($title!="" && mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `downloads` WHERE `title` = '".$title."'"))==0){//Your original code:$query = "INSERT INTO `downloads` (title, date, description, link, crack, ip) VALUES ('$title','$date','$description', '$link', '$crack', '$ip')";$result = mysql_query($query);}else echo"The title you entered was either invalid or already exists";
  12. Well then i'll give your 30 to MB then. 40 creds to MB... wow thats alot. It's ok though I love giving away credits on my birthday... *Alex's nose starts to grow*
  13. Thank you all so much for your birthday wishes! If I had more credits to give out i would I would award bacarra first but I'd hate to break the rules and give him first, then tramposch would complain that he didn't get his 20. I'll leave MB with the feeling of happyness that they had the honor to wish me happy birthday (plus the 10 credits of course!) hehe ill give you 10 just for the hell of it if you want, it might be a while though, I'm going to have to post a bit more to get up the ammount of credits i owe everybody Haha do you think you saying that is going to stop me? MUAhahahha

    Unzipper

    Wow very nice script. Does it unzip the file in the same directory it is in or do you set the directory when calling the function?
  15. Wow. Thats extremely interesting. I haven't even heard of this until now. It looks very interesting but i thought perpetual motion was impossible. You were talking about all of the youtube videos and none of them seem to work or seem to be likely to be built exept one i found. this video especially interested me. It seems likely that it would work because the power needed to move that little switch is smaller than the power the disk spinning. It is a very interesting topic.
  16. Haha very interesting review. I have a site hosted with Xisto - Web Hosting and thankfully no problems so far but Xisto seems to be just as good as it. Xisto should actually charge for its services That was a joke... please don't actually do that!
  17. Today is my 18th birthday hooray! I've been planning to do this ever since the Xisto credit giveaway because, well to me, my birthday is just as important as Xisto's b-day Anyway in celebration of my birthday I am giving out free CREDITS just like Xisto's birthday topic . The first person to reply to this thread will receive 30 credits! The second poster will receive 20, and the third fourth fifth and sixth posters will receive 10 credits each! Now I don't mean spam... the mods wouldn't like that too much Unfortunately there is a small snag in my plan because I was supposed to be getting enough credits for all of this by my birthday but with my new car and all I haven't found the time to make enough credits, so just so everybody knows it might be a few weeks before the third through sixth posters will receive their credits. sorry Anyway if you post here thanks for wishing me a happy birthday! and if you don't, thats cool too
  18. Is something like this what you are talking about except perhaps more detailed? (sorry for the bad example its just the only website that I know of with what I think you mean on it) If that is so, an image map would be the solution but if you do not have the app that jlhaslip mentioned you might be in for a bit of work plotting coordinates for all of the borders. Try searching image maps in google. Edit: I just realized that the cannon website actually isn't an image map but is a series of images. If you want the exact borders you would have to use a map otherwize with less accuracy and more time you could just have a bunch of images linking different places like cannon did.
  19. Thanks for the link, the review was quite interesting, but I was waiting for the guy to talk more about other stuff about the car and not just the stereo system but oh well still a very interesting video and review.
  20. I've never used the COUNT function in SQL so I'm not exactly sure how it works but i'd suggest this: Instead of this line of code $query = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(userid) FROM users") or die(mysql_error());try this $query = mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users"));
  21. Yea my car looks just like the one in the pics down to the pedals and the stitching in the seats. Thanks for the complement. I've been driving around it it so much I hardly go to my computer anymore
  22. On friday I bought a brand new Honda civic SI coupe. I haven't taken a picture of it yet, so I got those off the net but thats pretty much what it looks like exept its in blue. 6-speed manual transmition It drives very well. I must say I love it! I have been driving around in it so much that I haven't even turn my comp on since friday So how do ya guys like it?
  23. You still haven't set it to open the links in the same window which is very annoying. If you would pay attention to my previous post you could fix that.
  24. Well I haven't had too much experience with php nuke, but have you looked through the header or footer files at all? They sound like they would be files that would be included by every page. See if you can find any of the html in the file that looks familiar to wherever you want to put it.
  25. I LOVE the new search box. Fits right in. But your nice javascript drop-down seemed to have disappeared in safari The menus just pop up now without enlarging like they used to. I tried it in firefox and it still works. x( As much as i hate to downplay safari, it does like to break javascript that has a very small error in it. Even some of the Xisto forum drop down menus don't work. Did you change anything to the javascript since my last post?Edit: Nevermind its fixed again
