jimmy89 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 The next generation of iPod is almost out, the iPod touch. Loooking very similar to the new iPhone, it does the same kind of thing as the iPhone, except t doesn't call people. It has WiFi, 3.5 inch screen, the same black colour as the iPhone, touchscreen (the famous iPod scroll wheel is gone!)The new iPod comes in two versions, similar to the iPhone, at 8gb and 16gb. The starting price is US$299. Supposedly, battery life is at 22 hours for music and 5 hours for videos. For more info, see https://www.engadget.com/2007/09/05/ipod-touch-gets-official/orhttp://www.apple.com/ipod-touch/specs/
xboxrulz1405241485 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 A few of my school friends are excited for it, for me, I never even liked the iPod in the first place, so, it doesn't really interests me too much. iPods are simply overpriced, especially after you look at the inner components. The interface isn't really revolutionary when compared to other good MP3 players at a cheaper price.xboxrulz
Impious 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 I agree with xboxrulz, iPod's stufs are really overpriced. we have at the market, other products with same quality or even better with even better prices. If it does almost the same thing as Iphone does and doesn't make call I can not see where is the attraction!
kgd2006 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 Apple has really gone a extra step in screwing over the ipod owners by releasing the ipod touch. First apple reduced the cost of the iphone, now they are releasing the main functionality that is supposedly makes the iphone so popular, in a another system release for half the price of what the phone is. Which i believe is 300 dollars. Apple has pretty much built a good reputation in screwing over its consumers by increasing the memory of their products or improving the systems design every couple of months. Apple has really created a image for itself just as microsoft has, but as push come to shove both of these two computer technological companies are indeed the devils of the tech world.I understand now that there is really no good guy in the tech world, in the apple vs microsoft match. They both are there just to take advantage of their consumers in some way or form. Instead of providing quality products for the consumers that support them each year they milk their consumers of all they have till they are dead dry. But as interesting as it is we have to fall to defeat because we end up purchasing their products because we somehow have a desire and need for it for our daily lives. Its hard to choose who you would support when both these powerhouse companies are just there to create products only to milk you of your money and let you believe that you are getting the best of the best and newest of the tech world. dserban 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 (edited) These are gizmos for the "Oh I'm so cool now cuz I have an i<Apple-buzz-word>" crowd that was so happy and surprised when Apple announced the iTouch, that they were ready to pull out their wallets for the pre-order, until Apple announced the storage. 8GB and 16GB is pretty ridiculous, it hasn't been that low since the iPod first launched. Very disappointing to many people. Edited December 20, 2016 by OpaQue (see edit history)
Markymark2 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 Wow what a steaming pile of complete garbage! Anyone else getting totally fed up with Apple reinventing the wheel and claiming its theirs every few months? I know I am!!Im not even going to do the research this time-I just know theres a better and cheaper alternative on the market for a long time already. xboxrulz1405241485 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 I actually don't mind their computer products because they are absolutely fantastic. However, the iPod ... seriously too pricey. If you say Apple is trying to reinvent the wheel every couple of months, look at other companies, they update their computer line every couple of weeks or months! Apple only does it every 6 months.xboxrulz
patronus4000 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 iPod Touch. Just when the price of the regular iPod was dropping to an affordable level, guess what? They're gone, and in comes this new, pricey iPhone-like thing. Imagine if you bought both an iPhone and an iPod, and you picked up the wrong one when rushing out to work. Gosh. Although I highly doubt that one'd buy both, since you can play music on the iPhone, right? Besides, I think the current iPod looks a lot cooler than the facade of the iPhone.I've a few friends who are absolutely crazy over the iPhone, except they just can't buy one since they're not availabe in Canada yet. I don't see what the hype's about though, since it costs something like $600. Affordable? No. I'd rather buy some other cell phone, skip the fancy touch screen stuff, because it really isn't a need. More like a, "Cool! Another fun technology by Apple, Inc."No offense, I think Apple products look pretty awesome, it's just that they're seriously overpriced when compared to other similar products.Serena
Jeigh1405241495 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I was intrigued when I first heard about it, since theres some potential but I'm withholding judgment. Basically I'm going to wait and see what happens with them as far as third party stuff... they seem to have a lot of potential for fun little homebrew style softwares so I figured if theres anything that catches my eye in that department it might be worthwhile getting one but otherwise I'll be saving my money for various other stupid things I could spend it on like girls and booze.I'm not one to go psycho for apple products that come out, I've never owned any iPod but they've always seemed to be decent when I've used my friends'. That said I'd never buy one when they first come out, like all tech waiting for the price drop makes them much more worthwhile.
kelvinmaki 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 At one point i thought of getting an ipod, but instead i got a PSP and a DS Lite for the same price, and i can get them both to perform many more functions than any ipod You are totally right about comparing ipod with PSP and DS Lite. Regarding the size, and the price, it will be totally more worthwhile buying a PSP or DS lite. But I would say PSP is better. Bought an Ipod 15GB 3rd generation a few years back. Had fun with it but only for those music that I've uploaded into my ipod, just can't seems to get it out. I think that's about some copyright issue there. But definitely would want an itune which can do vice-vers transfering. Anyway now got a PSP and I've stop using my ipod. Some much more I can do with it and can even check my emails from the PSP. Ipod touch is just another of those ipods with better storage and better interface. Just some thoughts. Cheers
ruled_paper 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2007 Thanks for the info. The new Ipod touch has a sleek design, but I haven't had the privilege of trying it out yet. Apple has come out with a lot of Ipod versions this year. The prices keep on going up as well.
eXc1te 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2007 heres what i find a bit amusing. the 16GB ipod touch goes for more money that the 160BG ipod classic. Thats is 10X the size for less money. Does a touch screen really matter that much? Seeing i would never need 160GB of storage on an ipod i could go to 80GB or whatever the next lowest is and save even more money. lol could you be any more ridiculous for buying an ipod touch? trinifawk 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2007 I would guess that the iPod touch would have to have a helluva lot of features to cost 10x more money than the 160gb ipod video. The prices should go down for the holidays... even thought apple decided to release the ipods in the 4th quarter. It still should go down some more I hope. Maybe the new Zune would give iPod a run for its money, even though I doubt it, since iPod has become more of a fashion statement than any other mp3 multifunction type player. And I think that you're paying for screen size and the 'cool' factor when you buy an ipod touch. If you like watching your videos on big, but yet highly portable video screens, then the ipod touch might be just what you're looking for. Everyone I know who has something like an iPhone always has people wanting to poke at it and check out the features. So I think if you crave attention, an iPod touch might be what you need to get it too. But hey, it's my two cents... probably not making too much sense. lol
