doudou 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 What is the most popular and reliable P2P software out there? I’ve been using Bittorrent and eMule for a while and I am not sure if there is anything out there that is worth trying.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted September 16, 2006 Everytime I'm asked this question, my answer has been the same for quite a while . The best P2P application I've used so far is Shareaza. It connects to the Gnutella 1 & 2 AND the eDonkey networks, which are basically top-notch as far as P2P networks go, in terms of availability, stability, and richness of sources and downloadable stuff. Not to mention that Shareaza can actually handle torrent links, magnet links, and a couple other protocols. But still, for torrents, I recommend Azureus. I haven't tried many torrent application, but among the few I used, Azureus has proved to be a shining star in this genre. I personally love it. Cheers. nightfox1405241487 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2006 I use Limewire and Azureus for torrents. The only problem with Limewire is that it's FLOODED deep with porn and viruses. You HAVE to apply filters which aren't enabled by default (hmm...) and I will RARELY download .exe's from LW. LW is a last resort if it isn't available as a torrent.[N]F
doudou 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2006 I’ve downloaded Shareasa a few days ago. It caused my computer to “crash”. Well, not really crash, but that data dumping thing it does in a kinda dos screen and force my computer to close. So I thought on the safe side, I should uninstall it. Have you had any problems? Well, not really crash, but that data dumping thing it does in a kinda dos screen and force my computer to close. So I thought on the safe side, I should uninstall it. Have you had any problems? Nope, I've never run into this problem before . I actually never saw any command-line screens come up during the installation at any point. Who knows, perhaps it's been opened and closed too fast for me to see, but I believe this can't be since my older computer would've never been able to pull a stunt like that . Anyway, sorry you had to face this problem. I personally don't have any trouble with Shareaza, except for the fact that it requires a lot of configuring after installation (e.g. opening ports, optimizing speed, applying my own filters, etc.). Actually, most users wouldn't have to bother with any of that, but advanced users will have some time to optimize this piece of software to their own tastes . Cheers. doudou 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2006 I didn’t have any problems until I’ve tried to download stuff. Although I didn’t really successfully downloaded anything, because the connection is so slow (not my internet connection, I mean). I guess just not enough people seeding the files. It was then I had problems. Didn’t happen again since I uninstalled it though.
kgd2006 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2006 I have been using Azureus for torrent downloads for quite awhile. And to me I believe that it is probably the best P2P downloading program with a lot of features and stability. I think it is a little more for the advanced users though. But if you know how to work the program, you should have no problems with it. I used to use bittorrent, but when I switched over to azuerus I was uplifted with how well it downloads the files. I have downloaded many files with this program and it hasnt failed me yet.
SP_Dante 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2006 (edited) Iam using Bitcomet whole time to dl torrents. Its one of best torrent clients out there. Also very good P2P is DC++.It works this way: you connect to a server (HUB) with ppl that are there and sharing files and also chatting in main and private windows.Number of those 'HUB's is enough high to find files that you need (around 4000) and some of them have around 10000 ppl !. You will find it on google without any probs. Edited September 17, 2006 by SP_Dante (see edit history)
Quatrux 4 Report post Posted September 17, 2006 Yeah, the main p2p client for me is is DC++, I use ApexDC++ and connect to my country hubs where I find most of the things I need, Furthermore it is much faster for me than any other clients, for example eMule. It used to be called, not it but still - PeerWebDC++

Before, I've avoided torrents because of the pain that other clients were to configure, use, etc. Azureus made it easy![N]F

sparx 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 I've tried Azureus, Kazaa Lite, EMule and Limewire for at least 2-3 weeks each before I settled on Shareaza. It's fast, the interface can be configured to one's liking and the fact that it is developed on the Open Source software premise also helped to make up my mind. Naturally, no adware or malware are embedded / included in it.Latest version is 2.2.10. available on the official site, although it hasn't been updated in almost a year now, but it still works just as well. Speaks volumes about it.
Chesso 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 That's a very good question, and although I have not used an obscene amount of different file sharing clients, nowadays I stick with two.Which is the free and open source eMule and also the bittorrent client uTorrent.eMule has always been great, perhaps the queing system is a little annoying *sometimes* but generally I find it a very good file sharing programs.uTorrent is the greatest bittorrent client I have come across, I used to really like Azureus (besides the fact it was made in Java and requires a heavy runtime, plus it's GUI is hella slow), uTorrent however is an extremely small package, very small memory foot print, and quite fast in general (it also shapes any changes to upload/download speed to be a bit fairer instead of allowing the possibility of having 0 upload and maximum download).I have tried Bearshare and K-Lite when it was around (not sure if it still is) but didn't like those too much, nor shereaza or limewire. nighthawk1405241531 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2006 I use Azureus. One of the best bittorrent clients. It's only downside is that it is written in Java and therefore is very slow. It is far better than programs such as utorrent that most of the people use. I used utorrent and I was very unhappy with it, the biggest problem is that often exceeds speed limit, and in those few seconds I can't even load google's page in my browser (I use dial up). Chesso 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2006 Ummm.... that's why it has options to limit it? I haven't had any problems with limiting the speed *shrugs*.
