Houdini 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2005 I am glad to hear about iti, I have been using PHP Designer 2005 for about four months, mostly for new code or testing some PHP ideas out or running sample coe. Most of the time I use HTML Kit because I can update files on my server with its built in FTP. I think there is supposed to be that capability but I think you have to download extra stuff to make that function work, so I will definately go and look at it. Most likely will download it. lonebyrd 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2006 Quatrux, one of the times I heard you mention PHP Designer, I went and downloaded it and I got the 2006 version straight away. Looks very good. Haven't done much coding on it as of yet, but what I have done, I got a little frustrated with. The one thing I couldn't figure out was how to get it to show in my browser window. But a very solid program otherwise.
szupie 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2006 This is the first time a late poster has helped me. I didn't notice this topic before. Probably because I was on vacation during that time. But the "new" version looks great! The startup time was faster by a little bit. And the new icons make the software look much more professional. My favorite interface theme is SentimoX because it's not too flashy with the blue bars, and it has the gradient when the cursor is above a menu item.
sonoftheclayr 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Thank you for that link.I have used PHP Designer 2005 and did enjoy using it. Since I got my new computer I have been using Notepad++ which just has syntax highlighting so this will make a nice change from the simplicity of N++. TavoxPeru 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 I need to try it !Anybody can advice a good tutorial to start with php ?Well, you can find a lot of good tutorials in the net, but i recomend you to start with the official php documentation, download here.BTW, i'm haven't done much coding on it yet only a few test scripts and I got a little frustrated with the debuger, when i run a script the debugger shows the source code instead of the result, and the same thing happens every time i run a script in an external window, maybe it is because a misconfigured value. Does anybody have the same problem?Regards,
Quatrux 4 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 @ TavoxPeruDoes your script execute on some php server ? You need the path to php.exe and php.ini, but if you didn't set it then you wouldn't be able to debug at all.. The problem also might be that you're using short tags like <? and not <?php .. its a php.ini setting. @ xipStart with some basic stuff, get a php book in some pdf format, you'll find some on google. So when you read it, do the stuff practically.
Houdini 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 lonebyrd The one thing I couldn't figure out was how to get it to show in my browser window. This link is to the forums of MP Software for tips and tricks you might find it hhelpful Tips & TricksBasocally to set up your browser(s) go to Options -> Editor Preferences -> Browsers and browse your hard drive by clicking the rounded box with the ellipsis (...) and locate the .exe file for the browser(s) you have. You must also go to Debug and tell PHP Designer where the php.exe is and the php.ini and also the root directory that your webserver uses like htdocs (apache) or www (IIS)

Quatrux 4 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) Well, I just noticed that PHP Designer 2007, the version 5 has been released, don't know for how long it is released, but you can get it on the phpdesigner website, I myself just downloaded it, but didn't use it yet, because it is time for me to get ready and go to the university, so I just wanted to put a notice on this. So anyone if is using PHP Designer, can write some comments? Reviews? :)Dar, I just noticed that it isn't free anymore It requires you to register or else you can use the Personal package which does not have special features.. I remember I read about PHP Designer, that he liked it to be free, now maybe he saw a lot of perspectives to get some money from it :/ Oh Well.. I rather use the old free version PHP Designer 2006.. lonebyrd 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 I took a quick look at the PHP Designer 2007 website and am not at all pleased. I am going to stick with the 2006 version I think. In 2007, there are many disadvantages unless you want to pay. Almost none of the tools are available. At least in 2006 there was no split. I guess PHP Designer got popular enough were the owner saw a way to make a profit, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I know I wont be going to upgrade to 2007 unless I hear from others that tell me there are some real advantages to it. Because from the looks of it, I don't see much. If anyone does get it, I hope to hear their comments about it. I'm curious to hear how they could make improvements on the free versions.
