jedipi 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Microsoft released screenshots and information at PDC 2005 on its future plans for Office. They re-design the whole user interface for Office 12. (The UI looks very samilar to Apple Mac OS X) and lots of feature have been added. from the screenshots, The tool bar is so big. looks like you need a much bigger screen to use these Office 12 will enter into beta by the end of the year. source: Neowin
Jeigh1405241495 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 I'll likely use it eventually somewhere, but I'll stick to what I have now until I have a reason to switch. I'll likely see it at school or in the workplace first... Frankly I'm not that excited and I dont like the new look from what I've seen, but to ech their own

finaldesign1405241487 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2005 Looks usefull but its a Microsoft - They didn't change source code for Microsoft Office last 10 years. Probably they wont until new software appear on market. Then they will rip all they can and make something new.

There is no better product like Microsoft Office. Maybe I am wrong correct me if am not but all shool and colleges use Microsoft Office because there will never be better one. Technicly it's impossible, I mean think about Microsoft worked on for about 10 years. There is no way some other companies will try to make same software. MS office has it's reputation. Moody 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2005 Oh yeah. They have. MS office is the best software of that kind there is. It will be time they come with a new one. But i thought it would come out with the new OS of them. Isn't that right? I could be wrong. I use MS office all the time. The only problem is, I have 2003 and at school they have 2000. So if i make a PPpresentation here, it won't work good at school.
clagnol1405241508 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2005 You people who say Microsoft Office is "the best": have you used OpenOffice.org, Star Office, Word Perfect and all of the other popular word processing programs for any significant amount of time? Or are you just singing the praises of the one program you know?Calling anything "the best" implies that you have tried all of the others. If you haven't, then your words mean nothing. saxsux 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2005 Well said. I'm not mad about Office to be honest, I've never been too mad about Microsoft Office, sure you can insert fancy WordArt and stuff, but I like OpenOffice much more. For one thing, OpenOffice is free! Also, Microsoft seem to be obsessed with making thier products look better than actually working better, or adding more features. The current version of Office has fancy gradients and new toolbar images, but that seems to be it! solankyno1 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2005 If the price is not the criteria of comparision than it is true that Microsoft Office is true winner. I have used open office and it is good product but still in comparision it is not as good as MS office. This new version screenshot looking great.
Dondada 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2005 Very simple design and less clutter than 03-04 from what I can tell by those Screens.
golgothurteen 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2005 Massachusetts last month signed legislation that required all Government to drop the use of Microsoft Office for Openoffice instead. I havent used Openoffice myself so I do not know if it was a wise decision. On the one hand the cost of relearning new software for thousands of Gov employees might cost a pretty penny. But on the other hand the software is cheaper and they do not have to be stuck on proprietary formats (ie you have to use Office to open .doc files. Some other free programs can do this but not as well).I hear that Office 12 will enable users to convert documents into pdf files, which is a so called open format. Maybe they added this feature to combat againt other government institutions from joining the open software bandwagon.
Dooga1405241478 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2005 Finally another reason to remove Office 11 from my computer (oh how I wish to remove that buggy software... but I NEED it... lol!)
twitch 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2005 Right, can someone fill me in. Why call it Office 12? Is this the actual 12th version or is it a random number?I currently have MSOffice 2003 Profession full edition, and I think it is great. The features it has allows me to create more dynamic pages quicker and easier than before. I would never recommend MSOffice XP, if you're going for an earlier verion, then use MSOffice 2000.
