Google Chrome Os ?

Recommended Posts

I don't anticipate much at all from google asfar as an operating system goes. As somebody alreadymentioned, this operating system would be very light andwould support very few features. Google chrome is an exampleof a very light web browser, so I fully expect a googleos to be about the same. Now google is trying to complete with Linux. I don't think they'll eversucceed with that. Outside of the basic google search engine, the only thing I really like fromthem is Gmail. Such things as google maps and google analyticsdon't do it for me at all. I think they are trying to expand too quickly.

Google definitely suprised me with Android, and i can say that whatever android turns out to be, thats exactly what it was intended to be! :PThey are one of the most trusted companies in the world, i can see a fair amount of people and companies following that trust and investigating further into the OS :P

Anti-virus companies will always continue to make viruses (believe me it is true) and always the most popular OS will be attacked with them.So releasing this OS should be silently and on that way viruses number will be lower. If you work with Linux you will have bad software but you will be secured.Hope the same will be for this, but i am sure Google will make powerful software for their OS and we will not need some special protection & speeding up computer...Maybe some cool games will come with Google Chrome...Sorry but i can't understand difference between gOS and Google Chrome OS?

And what is your way of thinking that noways for google ? We're using many of their products on operating system as well as on web. They are using linux as base for their operating system. You're commenting without knowing a bit about them. Have you gone through their screenshots ? I can understand that google's os will be totally for online usage. But based on linux makes them as competent as windows. And how come windows is best ? Have you ever used operating system other than windows ?

Offtopic: I think you don't like how Google works :P They are very good system at all. They have very simple design on every page (not including the Gmail :P) but they have very powerful servers and scripting. As i know most parts of Google are written in Perl.Hmmm, i don't know why the free product,PHP is not used for good websites, like Google or MSN.As you can see some pages end with .pl because they forgot to rename them to index.pl and add them to other directory :P Sorry if i am wrong but most of Google pages are hidden in directory or subdomain, for example instead of google.com/mail.pl they are using mail.google.com on some help pages they use

google.com/example/example.pl :) And i am trying to hide the extension of my page because it is more simple to remember mypage.com/something/

then the filename with it's extension. Ontopic: Do somebody know what is the difference between gOS and Google Chrome Os?I found them both, but i can't see difference. Are they maybe different version?I found one picture with screen shot of gOS and i think it is very bad looking, they need to do something with the design and the full OS.Hope they will be normally used, because if Google Chrome OS is used very much,anti-virus companies will start making anti-viruses for Google Chrome OS,and to get money they are gonna make new viruses.

But if you look at Google's other software products IE "Google Chrome" It caught up with Firefox. That means it passed Opera, Safari etc in a matter of months.
We will just have to wait and see I guess.

I wouldn't say that it "passed" Opera... can't say much about Safari because I don't use it on a computer. (A better term would be that it "caught up in a matter of months," which is very impressive. Then again, look at the company footprint of Google.)

I use Opera as my "backup browser" (... that just sounds silly) and as my reach out to try something new, and I really like it. The only thing that keeps me from using it all the time as a competitive alternative is that the last time I used it, GMail was having wicked issues with Opera, and things were just SLOW. I'm actually very glad that it is a viable alternative to FireFox, though.

I tried Google Chrome back in the beta stages and although I do love the sand-boxing technique, I personally haven't had a lot of crashing going on with FireFox as much as I used to when it was in the infancy of its 2.0 release. (I actually can't remember it crashing... watch it crash on me now. :P ) What I do remember about Google Chrome, specifically, was its Fisher-Price-looking baby-blue theme that turned me off very quickly and got me back into FireFox with my at-least-decent-looking default theme skinned with WindowBlinds. I'm sure that's changed now, which is why I'll be back to play with Chrome a bit more to see whether it's a viable alternative to FireFox or not (which I'm sure it is).

I think most people like Google Chrome though because of its Looks and Speed & Security such as Firefox. All Though Google Chrome does not currently have an Addon's site like FireFox or IE I think they will be developing such a site once they have finished there OS.The only reason I like the Chrome Browser is the Look and Speed. I like the Tabs at the top no menu bar etc and I sometimes find it is faster than Firefox which is great.

I'm actually running it right now (as I figured I'd give it a test run again) and I like and don't like it.First impressions had me disappointed with the same baby blue Fisher Price theme, but I was very glad to find out that you can now change your theme VERY easily in "real-time" without a restart. The way that Google omitted the command toolbar and put everything to the right with the two drop-down menus is still a nice touch... still. I like how the status bar only comes up when it's required. All this, so far, shaves off valuable real estate on the browser, which makes it "feel" bigger, even though in all reality, you only shaved off maybe 20-30 pixels. :P The feel of browsing feels a tad peppier, which is nice. Nice to see that sandboxing is still in effect. I don't like how you can't re-open a tab you may have accidentally closed (or do I just not know how to?), but I love the history and how it's displayed. The location bar is very intuitive and I can search as well as go to my frequent sites without too much trouble; Firefox has a bit of a lag when it realizes that you typed in a search term instead of a URL. I like how the downloads work out of the box, reminding me of DownloadStatusBar for Firefox. However, there are a few glaring issues that will bring me back to Firefox after I finish using this Chrome session. Ironically, GMail STILL has issues displaying in a browser that I'm trying out... and for it to be slower in Chrome than Firefox is an irony that I have to question. Sometimes my CPU becomes so taxed for some reason that Chrome will become unresponsive for seconds at a time, then when switching tabs, will do a slow "fill" downward to view the page. (After the "fill," it performs normally.) I like how the tabs resize themselves when you close ones you don't need, but I don't like how Chrome tries to fit all the tabs you have open in the available space instead of shoving them off to the side like Firefox does and adding an arrow to scroll through them. (It makes it impossible to figure out what tabs are open when you're busy middle-clicking, but I'm sure this only affects the few weird people that do that sort of thing. :P )I know I have only tried this browser for a good five hours, but so far, it's not enough to make me switch. However, I have to commend Google for a pretty good browser "right out of the box" and would encourage others to give it a whirl. Obviously, people like it (or are just under Google's vats drinking the Kool-Aid), so maybe it has more credit than I give it. Also, keep in mind that I'm biased towards Firefox anyway, but gave this one a go, so your mileage may vary.Addendum: Google Chrome does NOT play well on an older machine. I'm running a 2.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM on Windows XP SP3 and even though these specs aren't too shabby, Chrome just started to crawl badly enough to the point where it was unusable (long unresponsive periods of time, slow response to scrolling, etc.). It's like the longer this thing runs, the slower it gets. Again, YMMV.

Do somebody know what is the difference between gOS and Google Chrome Os?I found them both, but i can't see difference.

There is no difference between these two as people are just confusing with it. There is no difference between the google os and google chrome os. You can even ask about this on some of the google help forums on google groups. You can even ask this question to the chromium developers group on google groups. You'll get the same answer that they're same.

The google chrome os? wow I am surprised with the way that google want to compete with microsoft that is a crazy and I personally have never downloaderd the google chrome browser why? because i dont care ok there are firefox and there is no better browser than firefox. I think google want to shock a giant microsoft and they maybe abuse of the free things to make people to take a look of its products but with a os? there are a lot of riskies for start there are a new market and that is great, but I think that no Macintosh could get neither 35% of the pc?s in the world, google chrome is far away to do that. Linux the stupid os that doesn?t work correctly have a lot of people that use it and at the end prefers windows with all its imperfections but windows is the best os in the planet until these days. Google have a lot of money to create new products but an os maybe is not the best option. I think that google maybe can create an antivirus software or something that millions of people who use the internet maybe test it. But I personally dont have any intention to format my hard drive or make a second partition to test a google chrome OS that only offer me the same or maybe less than Windows. Please if you are emotionated by this new I only have to tell you that in two months when you maybe have to format your pc and lose all the data will remember my words about this software. Don?t change your elections for a publish campaign, and if you do that don?t say that I didn?t warn you.

Wait, its called android. Not google OS?

An android is a robot[1] or synthetic organism[2] designed to look and act like a human. The word derives from ινδĎĎĎ, the genitive of the Greek ÎąÎ˝ÎŽĎ anÄr, meaning "man", and the suffix -eides, used to mean "of the species; alike" (from eidos, "species"). Though the word derives from a gender-specific root, its usage in English is usually gender neutral. The term was first mentioned by St. Albertus Magnus in 1270[3] and was popularized by the French writer Villiers in his 1886 novel L'ďż˝ve future, although the term "android" appears in US patents as early as 1863 in reference to miniature human-like toy automatons.[4]

Thus far, androids have largely remained within the domain of science fiction, frequently seen in film and television. However, some humanoid robots now exist.

The term "droid", invented by George Lucas in Star Wars (1977) but now used widely within science fiction, originated as an abbreviation of "android", but has been used by Lucas and others to mean any robot, including distinctly non-humaniform machines like R2-D2. Another abbreviation, "andy", coined as a pejorative by writer Phillip K. *BLEEP* in his novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, has seen some limited further currency
