Do You Have Glasses?

Recommended Posts

I've had glasses for ages - around four years now that I think about it. When I first got them I promised to only wear them when I needed to but... I seem to have gotten addicted to using them. Quite unfortunately, my vision has been getting worse. I remember getting told off by my maths teacher once for not being able to read her handwriting from the back of the room. Turned out my vision had been getting worse - although admittedly, my maths teacher at the time had rather untidy handwriting :PBut I agree with dcshaw.en - a lot of people look really good with glasses. ^_^

I have been wearing glasses since January 2006. Wearing glasses sometimes give me some advantage, for example while painting my home's wall, my eyes are protected from paint. Or while riding my bicycle my eyes are protected from wind or someting. The disadvantage is I can't be active in social activities while wearing glasses, and so I don't like glasses.I wouldn't have to wear them, but I have to.

I don't have glasses (I will turn 16 next month) and I totally don't want to wear ones. Look, the thing is I can look perfectly in the distance and see the plates of the cars which few can see, but only with my left eye. The vision with my right eye is blurry, and I can hardly do anything with it, seeing close things is also kinda blurry, but I can't see anything in the distance with it. There are regular yearly "control tests" in my high-school for height, weight, vision and so on... I totally made a fool out of myself when I should have read not the hugest, but the kinda smaller letter wrongly with 2 kids watching as they passed the doctor's exam. They have recommended me to see a specialist so I could get glasses, but as I am kinda a nerd, and putting the glasses would make me look like an idiot and I don't like wearing them and my vision isn't that corrupted (as I said I can see the car's plates from far) so I won't wear them (contact lenses maybe, but glasses NO!).

Lasik isnt for everyone as it will bring horrible side effect. I have a friend who did Lasik last year and is going fine till now while my ex-colleague did it and have starry vision 4 months after that.

IMHO, i did prefer to stick with specs. Girls dig guys with glasses :). Also personally, glasses to me is another gadget. The one i currently have comes with a clip-on sunglasses and have the capability to wear a visor while wearing the glasses. Though my vision is improving after 15 years of glasses wearing, dont think i could fight off the habit of not wearing glasses now. Its part of my daily life now, hehe.

When I was in Basic for the Army they told me I needed glasses, but that my vision was decent so I could choose to wear or not wear them. I, being that I hate things like that, chose not to. I think my vision is fine without.I just really do not like the idea of putting glasses on all day and having to worry about where they are/that they don't get broken/etc.

I wear glasses. I do not mind wearing glasses. After a while you get used to them and don't even realize that you are wearing them. I have pretty bad vision so i don't have much of a choice on whether or not i have to wear them.

I'm in 10th grade now, and have been wearing glasses since 5th grade. I wear them all the time. My vision is not that bad, and hasn't gotten too much worse in the past years, but I like to be able to see clearly all the time. I can see up close very well, but it is far sights where I'm a little weak. I want to stick with glasses because I don't want to have to get super risky surgery or wear stickers on my eyes  .Oh, and another reason is that I have had Transitions lenses in all my pairs of glasses. So I've become hooked on having sunglasses on outside... with contacts I'd need to wear shades outside anyway, so why not just wear glasses then. ^_^ At least that is how I see it.

Well, you might as well say I've worn glasses all my life. I got my first pair when I entered the first grade, as a 6 year old kid. I suppose the teacher noticed me squinting at the black board. I am nearsited, so when I was little I could see books just fine, and when I was outside my parents werent around so I guess they never noticed I was nearly blind. Since my eyesite is so bad, my glasses are the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off at night. And yes, when I was a kid I thought I looked pretty stupid in them too, but no better than I could see without them, I didn't really care. Since I can now pick out my own glasses, I usually stick with the cool gold wire frames, something like the John Denver type, so I don't think those look that bad. It's just those thick dorky plastic frames that I think look goofy.

Well, recently, I have been for an eye test, and I was told that I should wear glasses. My right eye is alot blurry, and my left eye is a tiny bit blurry. I can see without glasses, but when I tried out the glasses at SpecSavers, I could see perfectly. So from now on, I should be wearing glasses. You know, most people do look good with glasses on. The only thing I hate about wearing glasses is, my friends will start calling me 'Four Eyes'.

I wear normal glasses. Everybody in my family has poor eyesight. I may soon get contacts, but right now I am stuck with normal glasses. Speaking of which, don't wear breakable glasses when playing soccer. I learned that the hard way (another tip is to keep a spare pair at home or in a car if you need them to drive).

Does this really work? I wear glasses too because of myopia and astig, unfortunately. I sometimes do that blinking thing too, but only in the morning when I read at the breakfast table, because I'm too lazy to find my glasses. lol. What I do notice though, is that when I use the computer without my glasses, I find my vision disorientated (the kind of feeling when you wear glasses that have a higher degree than your eyesight) when I put them on. Is this normal? Is it also part of the effects of 'blinking'?

try LASIK, ive it for two years, so far so good, my vision is still 20/20 after the surgery, a bit of dryness for eyes, but overall i would say is worth every cents (USD 2000/noth eyes)

though the process is abit risky and a bit uncomfortable, but i wears off within 2-3 days, if you take of your sight

the feeling is like gaining a new life, without glasses, i would highly recommend this procedure

Unfortunately, I do. But the relief is, I don't have to wear them all the time. My vision is fine, I just have trouble reading well and seeing from long distances. But my parents force me to where them while on the computer, watching Television, and when I read.
Does anyone else have glasses? Do you use them all the time, and what for?

I have been wearing glasses for nearsightedness except I am sleeping for a quater century.

Should I really be wearing glasses?Do You Have Glasses?

I went for an eye test this weekend and was told I needed glasses. I had noticed that when looking at things in the distance they were blurred and I found it hard to read things like road signs or posters which other people could see, I had found myself squinting quite a lot. When I had them tested I explained all this and she did the test and said the problem was the opposite of what I thought. The lady said I am short sighted and that I'm straining my eyes and that is why things in the distance are blurred. I was told to just wear my glasses for reading on the computer etc and by doing this my longer distance viewing should improve! The thing is I feel I can read fine and work on the computer without the glasses on! It is clearer and everything is bigger with them on, but things in the distance are even more blurred! Am I right to be wearing these? Has anyone else had the same experience?

Any feedback will be appreciated!
