rvalkass 5 Report post Posted October 3, 2005 Nice website but I do have a few pointers. First, change the size of the "All information is given in good faith..." notice to something slightly smaller. It just seems a little overpowering for a small notice. Also, provide a little more description to the photos on your site and the ones in the gallery, for example, the photo of Dungeness on the Reviews page has no description at all. Also, I notice you made the entire site in Microsoft Word. This means that in certain browsers the text all gets turned into images and the links are therefore unclickable. There are lots of free HTML editors out there that work just like Word. If you have the entire Office suite then you should have FrontPage, which is used for designing websites. Why the sudden switch of background image for the Reviews page? Try and keep a uniform theme running throughout the entire site.I am sure I have given you enough to be getting on with, and feel free to ask for any help you need. electriic ink 1 Report post Posted October 3, 2005 Some of the text I notice is stored as an image. The text-images on the right hand side I noticed immediately because of its poor quality. That can easily be solved, simple save those images as a .png instead of .gif I don't know how this page is meant to look in ie, but in firefox, the page needs the left-right scrollbars, which I personally find annoying. To get rid of this I would simple move the text on the right further to the left slightly. I think that could be done using the css float:right thing eg <span style="float:right"><img src="bla.png" alt=""></span> etc, but don't quote me on that. Still a good site though
Saint_Michael 3 Report post Posted October 3, 2005 i try a cleaner design so people don't have to scroll all the way to right, most likly due to microsoft word .Work with some colors the default settings don't attract, suggest looking at some css scripts and see what you can find. but yeah don't use M$ writing programs at most use note pad to design or a good html editor. Thats all I have.
fffanatics 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 My advice would be to change the layout and design of the page using some css and small images. The way you would do this is using either photoshop or the Gimp, make the layout of your page as an image and make it look however you want it to look and dont just start coding. Then from there slice that image into the parts you need and try to reuse as many images as possible since it will cut load time of the page. Then code the layout or have imageready code it for you and work on it from there. Then you will get a professional looking site that loads quickly. Also i would work on the sizing of the fonts and such because they seem very large to me and i have 1920x1200 resolution which means they should be relatively small. Any coding questions, feel free to PM me.

zootycoongold 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Thanks for everyones advice. Unfornuately I haven't got Microsoft Frontpage and I can't find any website builders for free that I can build my website on. It is very hard to build websites on MW as they are not proffesionally meant for that but on my other websiteshttp://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/There is a good website builder so I can use them. Tha is my problem. I'm not too good with HTML's I afraid and I am not making the website to look really proffesional but just for fun and other peoples use but all the advice is very useful So thanks everyone. Keep it coming including ideas for free wesbite builders
Unregistered 015 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Gimp is free graphics program. Not that I have used it but it is free, so why dont you look for it. First draw your site there, then export pics, and then get to coding. If you dont know and dont want to learn HTML, you should buy Dreamwever since you can make the whole site in it just by clicking and without writing single line of code. And of course it wont look proffesional or anything like that, but you wanted it that way
Tyssen 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Dreamweaver's an expensive purchase for someone who's just doing it as a hobby.

grnjd 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 whey don't you just download a trial version of dreamweaver 8? it gives you like 30 days trial and i think 30 days is more then enough to fix up your site. btw is that woman you in the picture?

Umbra 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 Add more pictures and blends of colors to make it look more professional. Sadly, it is just a plain page that could be easily re-created in HTML or Frontpage. You need more things in each page, even if it's suppose to be small. The only plain page should be an attached document.
mykokology 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2005 Ok I have a few comments regarding this site:First off, the design should be something UNIQUE and EYE CATCHING. Something that will make visitors stay in your site a little longer because what they see is nice so creating nice graphics and nice layout with good color combination is a must.Second, I got lost in the site so I had to rely on clicking back just to go to the main page. You can add more navigational liks for every page.Lastly, the site will be much better if you could put additional content that might be og interest to visitors. All in all not that bad but there's always room for improvement. round 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2005 It's really kind of boring. If you don't have any artistic talent at all you can always download free templates that you can play with. It's much better, cause your site looks alot like the spam sites out there and i don't mean to say that it is. It just looks like it is.round
