What is a Chupacabra? It's fake. It's usually some farmer finding a dog with mange like an idiot or seeing natural decay processing like maggots burrowing out to make holes in soft tissue and thinking it was attack.

The chupacabra (or chupacabras) is a cryptid said to inhabit parts of Latin America. It is associated particularly with Puerto Rico (where it was first reported), Mexico, Chile, Brazil and the United States, especially in the latter's Latin American communities and Maine. The name translates literally from the Portuguese and Spanish as "goat sucker". It comes from the creature's reported habit of attacking and drinking the blood of livestock, especially goats. Physical descriptions of the creature vary. Sightings began in Puerto Rico in the early 1990s, and have since been reported as far north as Maine, and as far south as Chile. Though some argue that the chupacabras may be real creatures, mainstream scientists and experts generally contend that the chupacabra is a legendary creature, or a type of urban legend.The legend of cipi chupacabra began approximately in 1987, when Puerto Rican newspapers El Vocero and El Nuevo Dia began reporting the killings of many different types of animals, such as birds, horses, and, as its name implies, goats. While at first it was suspected that the killings were done randomly by some members of a Satanic cult, eventually these killings spread around the island, and many farms reported loss of animal life. The first was dead, and a local zoologist who was called to identify the animal noticed the second while she was travelling to the location where the first was found. Specimens of the dead animal were studied by biologists in Texas, who found that the creatures were some sort of canines of an undetermined species.[1]In Coleman, Texas, a farmer named Reggie Lagow caught an unknown animal in a trap he set up after the deaths of a number of his chickens and turkeys. The animal appeared to be a mix between a hairless dog, a rat and a kangaroo. The man, who referred to the creature as "Zahir," later told the authorities that he feared for his life when he saw the creature devour the bore within minutes. The account during the year 2001 in Nicaragua of a chupacabra's corpse being found supports this conclusion. The corpse of the animal was found in Tolapa, Nicaragua, and forensically analyzed at UNAN-Leon. Pathologists at the University found that it was an unusual-looking dog-like creature of unknown species.Some reports claim the chupacabra's red eyes have the ability to hypnotize and paralyze their prey, leaving the prey animal mentally stunned, allowing the chupacabra to suck the animal's blood at its leisure. The effect is similar to the bite of the vampire bat, or of certain snakes or spiders that stun their prey. In an episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Billy found a supernatural video documentary on the Chupacabras which summoned the chupacabra from the TV screen to suck out the viewer's brain.Billy thought it was a dog and named it 'Daisy'. In Scooby Doo and the Monster of Mexico, the gang attempted to track down a chupacabra which was terrorising Veracruz and the nearby villages. Instead of the correct reptilian beast, a bigfoot was incorrectly used. Gees Warrockers, that's a lot. I'm assuming that's a quote from Wikipedia? If so, you need to say so and put it in a quote.When I saw this thread, I had to laugh. I've heard of them and seen a doco and heard a lot of different theories. All I can say is while *most* theories aren't out of the realms of the impossible (particularly the one about it being an undiscovered species) I won't hold my breath. I would like to see a real study done and some hard scientific evidence before I'll believe it. I'm not a sceptic (I'm very open minded) but most of the 'evidence' so far seems very 'intangible' at best.I think in the mean time people should stop villainising it (or the legend of it really) - it really doesn't help get it investigated in a serious way.

Well to me the chupacabra is just another myth that has been seen by few and not believed by others. I do think that it is possible that back in the day when they thought the chupacabra was sucking out there goats blood it could have been a bat cause this never happen during to the day it usually happen during the night so back then they just never saw the bat doing this so they made there own image on what kind of beast would do something like this and that is how i think that the chupacabra came me to do be what it is now.

chupacabra sometimes is associated with UFO ocorrences. Many regions of Latin America (including here in Brazil) and Mexico had reports about it. It described like a beast, always attacking in farms and jungle areas. the ocorrences of this beast leave a lot of animals corpses, like cows, dogs and chickens. I dont believe this thing, but around 1998-2002 many reports about chupacabras happened in Brazil (Pantanal and Amazon forest regions), covered by many TV stations. Today is very rare heard about chupacabra here. They disapears.

Welll I have once saw x Files episode in which mulder and scully were following traces of el chupacabra and at first they though that it was alliance however later on they have found out that it was some sort of virus that did altered human genome and in such sense that they recieved some special abbilities however it stayed unclear whether virus is of the origin from earth and in the aftermath it has proven that it might be side affect from the experimental results of the alliens on the people on earth. I belive in x files not every but some of them have high recognition of truth and some have depicted things that in fact happened in the aftermath in the real world and are proven to be correct. One simple issue is cloning. And from the same author there is series called the lone gunman which in fact depicted attack on the twin towers with airplane remotly driven from secret compaound on earth which in fact had to attack twin towers however attack has been prevented by these guys. Last year I noticed an article about what appeared to be a dead Chupacabra having been found. It generated a lot of press:

However, later testing led to the conclusion that it was just a hairless coyote, although to my knowledge they haven't yet explained why it lost its hair.

NOTE-The first article offers one person's opinion at the bottom that the creature is a Xoloitzcuintle, a rare species of dog also known as the Mexican hairless dog. However, if the fangs are genuine for the Chupacabra specimen, that might prove a major difference since I can find no examples of fanged Xoloitzcuintle's.

However, the photos do not look much like a coyote. Perhaps the Chupacabra is another species of coyote with a taste for blood similar to the vampire bat? It's anyone's guess, but the 2007 case should allow you to see some serious evidence and decide for yourself.

However, while the coloring isn't too dissimilar, one appears to have more hair, a longer tail, and no fangs, making me think they're not the same species.

The Chupa Cabras are not real, or at least they are not as they are displayed in public.I live in Puerto Rico, and I'm pretty sure that most of the reported accidents were caused by bats or people trying to get attention.I've seen plenty of news related to the Chupa Cabras, I don't entirely believe them because if something like that really existed, then the government would do its best to hide it, as they do with many things.My opinion is that most of the reports are fake, and that would explain the slight differences in the shape and looks of the Chupa Cabra itself from report to report.
