  1. First off, congratulations. Your baby is beautiful. It's got to be tough, people mostly pay attention to the mother's feelings after a baby is born. there are also a lot adjustments the father has to go through. My niece went through the same thing. Nerve damage and a broken collarbone at birth. it was pretty severe. she had to have surgery and a lot of physical therapy but she's fine now. Like any other five-year-old. The only time you notice anything different is when she's running.good luck. keep up with the exercises at home.
  2. I'd live in some peaceful and non-threatening place like ToonTown Online. Fishing for jellybeans, decorating my little house and teaching my dog thing tricks, throwing pies at cogs... no real chance of gettting hurt. If there was one thing from that game that I could have in real life it would be the black circle you can throw on the ground to teleport from on place to another.
  3. I guess you can say I am "transitioning" I've been in childcare for forever and I wasn't making enough money to save up for going back to school with that, so I've just got a job at a certain store that starts with a W.It was my first day today and I was so overwhelmed! Maybe because it was a Sunday, there were so many people there and they all needed to be on the aisle I was on. And apparently, I look like I know where everything is at. What about everyone else? Those of you that have or have had jobs like this- is the first day the hardest? Does it get easier?
  4. I agree with Protoman. I've tried other types of boards but I am so very happy with SMF. When they make an update, they give you a notice right in your admin panel. Two clicks and you've upgraded. Installing mods is just as easy. You rarely have to look through your code to change anything. (Less of a chance of messing things up!)They've got a friendly and helpful community, as well. They solve any problems you might run into really fast.
  5. I had some similar problems after some of the other people who use this computer downloaded various things off of Kazaa. Try Spybot S&D, and another one called Adaware to get as much off as you can. Often, things will just start up again as soon as you reconnect to the internet so clear out your temp files and cookies. You'll still probably have troubles, these things are so pesky. The best thing for you to do after that would be to submit your Hijack This! log to a forum that specializes in helping people out. It might take a couple of days for someone to get to you, but if you take a little time follow their instructions they can really help you. I went here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Following all of their suggestions helped to fix things on my computer that were annoying that I didn't realize were happening because of all of the malware. Good Luck!
  6. in response to mikes242's statement, I don't think that trying to hold her hand now would be considered making a move too soon. He's told the girl he liked her a year ago.One of my good "online" friends is having this same problem in his life. It actually happened to him with three different girls in the last two years. He'll like a girl but they are "best friends." They'll do things together all of the time. (I keep telling him that he is actually dating the girl that he's having this problem with now.) He won't make any sort of move and they end up getting frustrated, probably, and finding other boyfriends. You don't want to end up that great friend that the girls come to when they need to vent about how bad there boyfriend is treating them while you sit there hoping that they will notice that you are actually "the one" for them. It's a vicious circle that is extremely hard to escape from.
  7. Being "paranoid" in a situation like this is never a good thing. What's happening is that your mind is filling in the blanks, right? You don't know what she's doing, you assume the worst. It's been 12 hours since she's replied... maybe she doesn't like me/is with someone else/ yadda yadda This is unhealthy at any age, especially when you are so young. Having a need to fill things in means that you are making up a large portion of this girl's personality in your own head. I won't get into it in this thread- I think I have talked about my personal experience on this issue too many times on this board. I just need to tell you that I really know what I am talking about on this one. You need to know that if it did happen that you ever were to meet, she's not going to be exactly what you think. There's much to much that you can't know. You might not be interested in any "real life" girls right now, but keep your options open!
  8. It might work better if it sounded weird though. If you can't really speak Spanish you don't want to say one line correctly and have the guy ask follow up questions. When my sister worked in call centers and someone who spoke Spanish called in for support, the workers were encouraged to say "No hablo espa?ol" using a Texas accent so that the callers would really get the idea.
  9. Let's not forget that "A LOT" is two words! I think that in the teenage years people do tend to go overboard on certain things. Things that bother you, new things that you become interested in... everything becomes a huge deal when you are a teenager. It's not OCD. It's something almost everyone goes through in their own way. And it's not something that you can really understand until you get older and have to watch other people go through it.
  10. Wow. It's funny when a really old thread pops back up where you saw that you were talking about a cool new band or a television show, but this is really a strange thing to have to revisit.Even in the most amicable of break-ups, there's always a time when you'll go through these feelings of not knowing whether or not your life will be normal again. You get so used to being in a relationship and now that it's gone you know your life isn't going to get back to the way it was before- it can't. And then you don't know if you'll ever have feelings for any other person... there's always a mix of things that go through your head. And that all happened to me. Almost a year ago! lol I'm fine. Everything in my life is back on track and I am happy with the situation that I am in. I still run into Matt every once in a while at clubs or restaurants. It's actually funny sometimes when he's out with his new girlfriend (I think there have been two or three since we broke up) and she gives me dirty looks. There's really no reason for her to do that so I just shrug and smile and go back to whatever I was doing. This has been a crazy flashback! I wonder if anyone else who has asked for advice or shared a story since this bit of the forum opened up has looked back at what they wrote and I wonder what they thought about it.
  11. A lot of times that girls are friends with boys it might not even occur to the girl that the guy is interested in her, even if the guys do 'kinda admit' to liking them. She needs to see you in "that way". It's also possible that she does like you and has been waiting for you to make a move. If you'd like to find out if she has feelings for you- touch her. Not inappropriatly or anything, just touch her hand. Make sure it's a time when you are alone and it seems like one of those times when you are having a good time and you feel like she might like you back. Don't be herky jerky about it or make it seem like you are trying something funny. Don't be nervous! Just calmy go to hold her hand. if she pulls her hand away, just giggle and say "whoops" or something and go on like nothing happened. Don't get discouraged if she doesn't respond the way that you are hoping at that exact moment. It's not over yet...Don't expect instant results, she'll have to go home and think about you. By making this small move you are putting a thought into the girl's head and making her see you as a potential boyfriend. This might take her some time. This just opens the door. The next time you are in a friendly conversation you'll have to ask her out.
  12. It is pretty inconvient, you can bring your toiletries in your regular luggage though. I know a guy who is flying domestically here in the US today and he called up the airline and they told him that everyone needs to wear flip flops or sandals because they need to check everyone's shoes. Are they going overboard? I don't know. I think it's more important to be safe.
  13. hmm... first of all. Nice job with the title. People will know exactly what they are getting into. I didn't get past the "more painful than giving birth" bit.try passing a kidney stone. That's the only thing I've heard that could compare to the pain of childbirth.I'm thinking you should try changing your diet. Fiber. Water. Get some exercise. Read a book about teddy bears and rainbows.
  14. I did read about it being synthetic. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt until then, mainly because you would think in an event that is so high profile- and especially these days with all of the uproar about performance enhancers in sports- that someone wouldn't be so incredibly stupid to use anything illegal or anything that they thought might raise questions. Next we will hear the great excuse that "somebody gave it to me and I didn't know what it was."
  15. These technological advances that allow us to stick so much information into a tiny thing are great, they really are, but I don't know what is so great about watching a movie on a screen that is only two inches wide.
  16. One of the first steps in evolution was probably figuring out how to... um... clean themselves. Maybe they used scraps of whatever they made their clothes out of? We could all come up with pleasent ideas, but I am sure as yucky as it is, they probably used their hands. ew.
  17. I find this sentence to be extremely funny. Comments on a showdown between the A-Team and the Ninja Turtles are childish? NO WAY! I think a lot of this guy's comments could be answered with a "what were you expecting?" You kind of know what you are getting into at all of these places.
  18. That is weird. The only time I've ever known of people using gift cards is if they get them as presents, not buying them for themselves. Although my sister does get them online sometimes as payment for taking surveys.
  19. right, posting a paragraph will get you hosting faster. :)I'm guessing there was some sort of ultimatum- send me an email or I will go off and marry Richard!
  20. The thing about kids that age though- they all stink. I'm not saying that in an anti-kid way I mean, I've worked with kids and between age 10 and about the time they start high school, there's just this weird aroma about them. A lot of it could have to do with slacking on the hygiene at that time. But, everyone else at school is going to smell bad too, whether they realize it or not.
  21. Yikes. Lately, my mom has been trying to get my baby niece to dance everytime she has her. The problem is, the only channel on tv that ever plays music nowadays is the country music network. (And my mom normally listens to good rock music.) So the poor little baby is turning into a hick. My sister is so happy. haha.
  22. A world where religion did not exsist would be impossible, as we are born curious about the underlying principles in religion. Any religion is basically just a series of stories outlining three things:How we humans got on earth. Where we are going after we die.How we should behave in our lifetime to get to the right place after we die. We think, we wonder, and therefore we have religion.
  23. I was getting kind of confused while I didn't have an avatar here! It's very handy to be able to identify your own posts quickly at a place like this, so you can see that you posted on page 4 of the 12 page thread before you post in it again.A user at my BBS put this little picture in a story he posted up. I loved it so much that I decided to use it over here. It's such a funny picture that it makes me happy everytime I look at it.
  24. I'm sure that submitting your site to google might help, but I have never submitted the site that I have now. I've just added links to the site in all of my BBS profiles and on my Myspace page. I got spidered and put on google much faster that way, for some reason.
