  1. I've never played CM, having got into FM2008 though I feel it would take a lot to beat it. I just love the way the game looks, it's got a fantastic match engine, and things are only looking up, what with the recent release of FM2009 (Not got it yet but am definitely going to!!)
  2. For in-game comms, then Teamspeak and Ventrillo are always going to be a million times better than xfire. However, let's not be so quick to push the program asside. It's great for keeping track of your gaming stats, great as a messenger out of games, as a way of keeping in contact with old gaming mates, and also, it's great for being able to keep track of what games and servers your friends are all playing on.It may not be the best for comms in the games, but for a small little messenger program, it aint bad.
  3. - COD4- PC- <BB>COD4 is and always will be the best game in the COD series. It has everything a great game needs. IMO, COD5 is terribly unbalanced and favours higher ranked players. Plus, with COD4, you just fall in love with the game, it is addictive, and great playability. You don't get any of that with COD5. It was released as a competitor to COD4, but I think it has a VERY long way to go before it can even think of competing with the likes of Modern Warfare. But that's just me. HC S&D FTW!!!
  4. I agree with onscreen. For a first attempt, it is very good and you do seem to have the hang on userbars already. Just follow up on the tips that onscreen gave, and then it will look almost perfect.
  5. I don't know if there's anyways around this, maybe someone can input. Let's say for instance I buy an offline single player game from steam. I enjoy playing it, but I have to connect to steam everytime, to play an offline singleplayer game. I lost my net connection a few months back, and was unnable to play anygame as I was unable to connect to steam to play the game.Is there any way around this? I tried running in offline mode, but that didn't help. MaybeI overlooked something so simple, I dont know, but any and all help would be appreciated. As for whether or not I like steam, it's hard to say. As with everything, it's not perfect and it does have it's pro's and con's. I feel that the cons out weigh the pros though. I mean, I have a 4MB connection. Not great but it's good. Downloading on steam is very limited and can take so many hours to download a game. That's the only thing that really bugs me about steam.
  6. As far as I'm aware, Steam always make the preload for people who have pre-ordered. I have never been a fan of steam. It's fine for managing Day of Defeat, and Counterstrike, games which I purchased on a disk. But I bought one game through Steam for download, and the speed was incredibly slow. But anyways, this is about GTA IV which is going to be incredible. I always love having GTA on PC more than on consoles. But that's just because I'm a PC gamer, and to me the console just will never be good enough. Can't wait for the release. Going to be AMAZING!
  7. Hmmm sounds interesting. Are there any catches to it? We just sign up at your forum, make a few posts, and then we get posts made on ours?
  8. I was originally looking for a host about a year and a half ago, and tried Google. I saw the site, but wasn't really a fan of forums. I didn't see why I should have to post to get hosted. I was a lot younger and a lot more naive then.I then came across another host that used the same format. It wasn't that bad, but the site closed.I was then one day browsing through a web hosting directory, and saw Xisto again. I thought.. "What the heck.." and promptly joined. That was two days ago and the rest, as they say, is all history, be it recent at that.
  9. In my opinion, Burnout is a totally overrated game. The graphics have never been great, the game play becomes really boring after a while and then what are you left with? A game that sits on the shelf, never getting played again. That's just my opinion, and maybe the figures would suggest that there isn't enough burnout fans on the PC to warrant spending millions on releasing to this format.
  10. I wouldn't say at all that I am afraid of dying. I too love life. More than anything and every day I marvel at how wonderful it is. However, at some point, it all has to end. We all know that. Why be afraid of it. What we have to do is make sure that we do live life as best we can. We only get one shot at it, got to make the most of it.
  11. I voted broncos. I have no Idea what the NRL is, I just think that they have a cool name and therefor are worth voting for. Is this Australian Football? Or rugby? Or whatever? Lol I think I might be a bit lost, need to find my way back to England.
  12. As mentioned by joeblogg, because of the vast amount of money that they have available for advertising, when people think of sport, Nike is the name that comes to mind. I like them both. Nikes trainers are better, but Adidas make better clothes. I rate them both the same.
  13. I can't ever confess to ever playing it. It always seemed like too much money. Is it worth buying? Can you give us some good and bad things about it? Would be interested to hear a little bit more about it.
  14. Really? The only thing I found enjoyable about it was the mods. And that was only on the odd occasion. I think CS:S is very limited now. Every time you go on, your having the same experience. The same can be said for other games, but then if you expand your games collection, and not get too hung up on one game, then there is an enjoyable time to be had whilst playing. Having said that, I can't stop playing AA so I can't really say much haha
  15. I can't really compare the two as I have never played any of the halo games. I do own some of the UT series though and they are amazing. I recommend them to anyone who hasn't played any yet... What are you waiting for??
  16. MY life pretty much revolves around my gaming. However, I am probably one of the slimmest people you will ever meet. I'm 6ft 3" and weigh about 10st 5lbs. I don't eat overly healthily either, but I do get my fair bit of exercise in, walking a mile and back to work most days. It's just plain lazy otherwise.
  17. I think the forums are great and that there are plenty of boards etc. that are perfect for a gaming discussion forum. The only things I will pick up on is the main page. The menu under the header is too plain. A bit bland. It needs to stand out a bit more and grab some attention. Also, on the main page, your announcements block is at the bottom of the page. That would be something that I would put at the top, just because I want to make sure my members and visitors see it. Other than that, very good job. Keep up the work.
  18. You can't really say that one is better than the other. Although both are similar, they do differ in many ways and it depends on the creator which he uses. A lot of it is user preference, and will be down to which you prefer. Myself, I prefer IPB, but more would go for VB.
  19. Although the blog is a great idea, as it gives members the chance to get information that they previously did not know, the blog format to me probably wouldn't be the best idea. With something like that, a Wiki site would probably be preferred, as you could add "How to.." on to it and such. However, I'm sure the people at Xisto appreciate the help for the new guys, and if you need any help at all, just let me know.
  20. I seem to be having a problem launching the game in firefox. I dont know if this is just the way I have the browser set up or what, but unfortunately I can't play it. Anyone else have this? If not, I'll tweak my FF settings and see what happens.
  21. Any body else here have the same love of this game that I do. To me, not only is this the most beautifully stunning driving game graphics wise, but the handling for the cars and the game play is superb. I was a bit tetchy when CM (Codemasters) brought it out, as I had never been a fan of TOCA or some of their previous games. But, after buying the game because I felt a need for speed, and well NFS wasn't quite picture perfect, I have fell in love with the game, and it will surely become one of my all time favorites.Anyone else agree, or do you disagree? Let me know, I'm interested to hear what you think.
  22. At the moment, I'm still sitting on the fence as to whether or not I like it. Normally, I love WWII games. I have plenty. However, in my own opinion, I find that COD5 is just lacking something. It isn't as joyful to play as COD4. Admittedly, the graphics are superb, the maps are very well thought out and the game play is also very good. But I think that the WWII game is dying out. There is just too many out there and after a while, once you played 10 or so of them, you've generally played them all. Activision and InfinityWard had it made with Modern Warfare, and the sooner they get back to that, the better in my case.
  23. With the web expanding in the way that it is, I think it will become very hard to be on the top 2 pages of google. Well, not if you get free SEO advice. You would need a complete professional to completely SEO your site for you to even stand a chance. And as it is mentioned, even then it may take a while for a search engine to add you.
  24. I agree with deadmix. If you are looking for something that is database driven, but can't afford to pay, then an open source CMS would probably be the best for you. However, to recall your post I think you mentioned that you wanted a forum. To my recollection, and I'm not positive, I think Joomla, and Mambo, do not have forums. To find the best CMS for you, I recommend you check out the http://www.opensourcecms.com/ website. It gives you a chance to view a demo of them before installing on your webserver. If you do need help installing, you could always ask here. Plenty of experienced people who will be able to help you out.Alternatively, if you are looking for free hosting from Xisto, their hosting cpanel comes complete with fantastico, which is an auto-installer of certain CMS scripts, and does the hard work for you.Hope this helps, xls
