  1. Yeah so back to the real topic, instead of talking about this bozo...My school recently built a new HS. I graduated from the older one, which had no security at all. We even had open campus for lunch, so you could leave and get lunch and come back. Now when I try to visit my teachers at the new school, I can't. They don't even allow visitors during school hours. The security is ridiculous. Oh well, I kind of lost the desire to go back since its not even my school anymore.
  2. Yeah, vending machines definitely suck. We had a 50 cent coke machine at my fraternity house, and the coin chute broke inside, so if you pushed the coins in too fast, it ate your money. Eventually people would just use dollars, and you'd get change back in only dimes or nickels because all of the quarters never actually made it into the machine. Coke was really slow about fixing it too. It was kinda funny seeing 50 cents in nickels flying out of the coin return though.
  3. Haha yeah I got unlimited too. It'll probably be back to normal soon I'm guessing.
  4. Nintendo definitely knows what's going on when it comes to games. Their games are more fun regardless of how cutesy they are or whatever than most playstation or xbox games. The only real thing they messed up was losing the 3rd party support they used to have with the SNES, and even their 2nd party game makers. RARE was a huge asset to them. Pretty much all my favorite games came from them. Nintendo's strong points have always been their own games and their close 2nd party games. I'm not a huge fan of video games in general anymore though, so I'm starting to lose touch with nintendo, sony and microsofts consoles.
  5. Cool stuff, I'm 19... and from New York, studying Information Technology (i think it is the same thing). I'm looking to also go into computer science as well. Welcome to trap 17.
  6. Yeah, actually I never really thought about it, but you could definitely use the technology as a public message system for warnings and such, but it would only be useful at night. I think we already change enough of our environment... we don't really need to destroy the night sky.
  7. Actually pretty much all reputable companies use "codenames" for their products, especially Microsoft. For example, "XBOX Next". You can get a full list of the Micro$oft codenames here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ It's interesting...I guess.
  8. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/05/20/space_billboard_ban/ I think it would be really sad if one day you look up into the sky and see an advertisement projecting like the "bat signal". Hopefully this will never happen. People are insane that they would want to do that. Is money reallly that important? Would you even buy a product just because you saw it in the sky?
  9. Dude, if you want a DVD player... buy a DVD player, don't buy a playstation.
  10. For the every day user, yeah I'd agree with these guys a Dell would probably suit you just fine. If you want a custom gaming machine, I'd stay away from Alienware those are overpriced. ABS is really good, and you pick out everything you want from their website. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I don't think there are really any "bad" brands out there. It just depends on what you are looking for.
  11. It doesn't sound like that great of an idea, but who knows. We have a lot better planes these days anyway. I'm not worried about it too much.
  12. It's ok. I like it a heck of a lot better than windows me, which is running on my parents computer. ME was complete garbage. I keep saying that I'm going to try Linux, but I never do. I've only used it (command line based) a little bit via a remote connection for some school projects.
  13. Yeah, its pretty funny. I've seen several release groups put out torrents already. I would probably download it, except I really don't like Star Wars.
  14. Cable in theory should be faster than DSL. In practice though, I'm not sure. My cable connection at home used to be lightning fast when it first came out. Once more people got the service thought it definitely started to slow up, and they started capping the bandwidth. Now that they started having a cable phone service, theres just wayyy to much for them to handle in my opinion and service has been diminishing. Maybe I'm just used to the i2/T3 I have at school.
  15. I usually go through a handful of sites. collegehumor.com, entensity.net, ebaumsworld.com, fark.com and maybe search for random pr0n haha. I also sit around and check my email constantly as if new emails are going to magically appear. Nothing beats checking everyones away messages on your buddy list either.
  16. I hate all those preppy wannabe kids who wear nothing but abercrombie, hollister, american eagle and jcrew. I wear whatevers cheap, a lot of BMX company clothing (I ride BMX) and lots of free t-shirts I get from wherever. For jeans, I wear straight up levi's. Probably nobody wears those anymore.
  17. I still don't get a lot of things about this hosting credits stuff. When you sign up for hosting, do you "spend" your credits? When I signed up for hosting for the starter package (the one you need 10 credits for) I came back like 2 days later and I was down to less than 1 credit. I also figured hey, it won't be so bad... all I need is 20 more credits to get the next package. But you need to become even more active, and get 30 credits again? And then at the point when you sign up for the upgrade, you lose those 30 credits?
  18. Forget that, I still refuse to get Service Pack 2. Installing it messed up my wireless connections. When I uninstalled it, Microsoft Update still recoginized my computer as having the update, and it caused all sorts of problems. I ended up having to format and start over.
  19. I'm not a huge fan of Micro$oft, so I'll probably wait for the PS3.
  20. That's pretty scary. Especially since everyone would download it thinking, hey its from google it must be good. I don't really see the point in those web accelerator programs. Wouldn't it slow down the initial loading of the website anyway?
  21. Yeah, I have a lot of friends who use EditPlus, also a text editor. I've just been too lazy to check it out.
  22. I couldn't get it to compile in visual studio, but maybe I'm just retarded.
  23. Ugh, Hillary Duff is gross, and she can't sing either. Why does Disney have to make all their "stars" into singers? Some of those kids have no business putting out albums. Whenever I hear Hillary Duff I think Lizzie McGwire... and that character was in like junior high.
  24. I'm from Long Island, so naturally... NEW YORK is clearly my favorite. I've never left the east coast though, so I would like to get out west sometime.
  25. What compilers/text editors do you guys use. For me, I like:C/C++ - Visual Studio .NET, sometimes gcc/g++ (linux)Java - EclipsePerl - perlIDEHTML - notepadEclipse is amazing, if you program in Java and don't have this, you should really try it. As for using notepad for HTML, I hate WYSIWYG editors because they put so much garbage into your documents that it becomes impossible to edit them directly.
