    Building an online home based business.<br />Sci-fi including Star Trek, Andromeda, Battlestar<br />I.T. 'it earns me a buck'<br />Torrents ;)<br />Getting a good deal/finding a bargain
  1. It will work depending on your expectations:If you are looking for a net friend and plan on never meeting them then it is nice to have someone around to talk with and share things with.If you are serious about getting together and maybe getting married it may also work. many people do this and are quite happy. If you want a relationship but are not prepared to save the money and take the risk of someone you only know online or on the phone then I would suggest just staying friends.I am now married and met my wife online. Even though she lived in the country she was in another state. I moved there after visiting for a week and we are happy.I also worked with a guy that moved from England to Australia to be with his girlfriend. It is possible to meet someone local and save yourself some time and expense :)Just decide what you really want then you can make a plan.Be realistic about your goals then will avoid disappointment.Best of luck.
  2. The way it is in Australia that i learned (as a first aider) is that if I would declare I was a first aider and then NOT render assistance that I would be negligent by law. If I do not offer help then I am not.For a passer by if they render assistance and an injury occurs then they may be sued.I was told this has rarely being upheld in any court in Australia. It seems a bit of a grey area here.I guess in other countries they sue for anything and that is a reflection of their society. Some people are just stupid. If someone tried to rescue me I would be grateful.I have already made up my mind to be a hero if the need should arise and offer any help I can. It's better to be sued for doing the right thing than the wrong thing :)KJ
  3. It was not only a funny movie but very insightful. The way that God said he could not change free will is actually a true reflection of this theological question.Humankind has been given this free will that allows us to choose the Creator or not. What a dilemma for an all powerful being to give us this choice which would mean we can choose to ignore that being.I think it actually showed the heart of God in wanting to help us avoid pain but limiting Himself so that we could choose the painful way instead of Him, and how this must hurt God to see us choose poorly.Like a parent that looks at a child and sees them making the wrong choice but letting them do it anyway because if they forced the issue they would lose relationship with the child. It is a very hard thing to think about because you could make a bad choice and screw up humanity for good! I think i would concentrate on showing humanity what they were capable of at their best.So you take an individual and show them what their life could be like if they lived to their fullest potential. In this way if enough people could see what is possible if the best virtues, values, talents and gifts are used in each individual then what a powerful vision of what societies we could have!Thats what I would try and do. I do it now just on a much smaller scale :)KJ
  4. Did you try and load it onto a different machine? laptops can play a lot of games and i would agree that you should look at the graphics driver first. In updating graphics drivers you can use the option in devices for Update Driver. This has rarely if ever worked for me however and so i use device manager to identify the card then google the driver and get the latest version. Also look at how much memory is being assigned to the video card in the bios. I am assuming that it is an onboard graphics card and go may be able to assign some more memory if you have it.You also failed to indicate what operating system you are using. Assuming that you are using Vista you may try running the game in Dos compatability mode (I am not sure how old the game is but this sometimes works). Also go onto the official game site and look at the system requirements there may be something there you do NOT have.If there is an faq or problem sheet you may find the game does not support certain cards or processors.Obviously make sure that ALL possible updates have been initiated on your system especially CPU or graphics updates or things like .net etc and directx.I wish you luck in finding a solution as I am aware of just how frustrating it can be when you are expecting to play a new game and you cannot. KJ
  5. I would just do a crossword in the toilet and have a think about it. My best ideas for mega wealth and global domination usually come from sitting on the toilet or doing a crossword. Also this is from "http://hpathy.com/diseases/anthrax-symptoms-treatment-cure.asp; a site about homeopathy. "Anthrax - HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT Homeopathy offers many medicines which may help in anthrax. These include medicines like arsenic-alb, anthracinum, pyroginum, crot-h, lachesis, hippoz., echinecia, tarent-c etc. Many homeopaths consider anthracinum as a preventive medicine for anthrax. Anthrax - CONVENTIONAL TREATMENT Antibiotics like penicillin, erythromycin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol, streptomycin etc are used. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? Once a person is infected there is little else one can do except to take treatment. But in endemic areas, those who work with animals and their products, need to take some measures like: * Do not sleep on animal hide * Do not eat meat of an animal which has died suddenly * Do not take any sore throat or cough lightly." So here is my solution. Get the thing off your wrist and take some echincia and get rid of the animal hide that i sleep on...then take something for my sore throat.... KJ
  6. Wasn't Longhorn the early name for Vista? Vista has been a nightmare in many regards and even microsoft is saying that it is an option for people to order operating system Vista with XP downgrade and then wait for Windows 7 rather than using Vista.I don't care what they do just get rid of Vista. User security for home and even some business users just went over board and so I hear they are going to scale that back down a bit.Maybe I am just getting old but after using and installing both Operating Systems on home and business computers I can still report many frustrations with Vista and a lot less with XP.But I will look forward to seeing with this Windows operating system is like. I mean there really is such a fuss when a new operating is coming out. It's not like I am going to line up outside a computer store for hours and get a first release or anything. But it IS a part of what we use everyday so i guess it is important.I wish they would just make a cybernetic implant and be done with it :)KJ
  7. Windows Media Player is what I use most now. I have used VLC sometimes when things don't play. I have also download klite codec pack when having trouble with codecs.I agree that divx is also a good player that I have used before as it works better with some divx stuff. What I like about Windows media Player is the Graphic Equalizer that I use to get the right setting for speech versus sound effects. also the True Bass and Wow Effects can be used to find the right balance between sound effects and clear dialogue. I tend to download a lot of tv series and movies so i like to get a good balance here. Also with some downloaded materials the brightness is not quite right and I find that the Video setting for Brightness gives a good boost for dark type of movies.I have also used Media Player Classic which I don't like at all.Media Player gives me good control of when i want to move to a certain part of the file i.e. 10:16 When I am watching something and have to go out and then come back to the exact spot. Some players will not let you do this and instead jump to a section which I find a bit annoying.I believe Windows media Player is the best overall player with formats that are in the 'normal range' with other players being very useful when the format or the codec is off in some way. Also if I need to download subtitles to watch with a movie i have found Windows Media Player quite good to use. Just by renaming the subtitles file to be the same as the movie file and turning on subtitles I am usually able to add them successfully. As I use my computer as my entertainment system (we have no tv but watch downloaded series such as Star Trek, Dexter, Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles, Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, Heroes etc -Yes i am big sci-fi buff every night I believe that I have given Windows Media Player (and other players) a good run to have a well informed opinion.I am sure other players may perform all of the tasks I listed above as well so in that case it probably just comes down to personal preference. If someone has a better player that does all of the above BETTER or MORE EASILY than Windows Media player then please let me know and I would be willing to give it a go.And if anyone has recommendation for a good series similiar to my listed tastes above please send me a message 'Live long and prosper'KJ
  8. Planning planning and planning. You really need to not only research what you want to do but actually reverse engineer how you will get there. This is where a good plan or even a business coach can help.Making mistakes is also a good way to learn? If you plan all the time and do not take enough action then you will never have the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. You will procrastinate and not move forward. When you move you gain momentum and whilst already moving you can more easily change course if your results are different to what you expect. Try changing direction while you are at a standstill!Talk to other people that are doing what you want to do. This can work if they are actually successful and not just wannabes sitting in a chat room or forum saying all the reasons why they are NOT succeeding :)Knowledge overcomes fear everytime. Either by study, by observing and modelling others or using your intuition you can gain knowledge. What is wrong with trying many things? We are so conditioned to have to choose a 'career' that sometimes we don't want to go out on a limb and try something different. How will you truly know what inspires you if you don't give a few things a go?Just do it! There is a reason why that 3 word phrase is so popular. The only way to overcome fear sometimes is to just DO IT. Use it when asking someone on a date or in starting your own business but just use it! And if your new business is to start a dating company then all the better! Hey that is not a bad idea...KJ
  9. Yes I think it is catchy but if you listen to a lot of the songs I think most of them are really sad.I guess when you are a pop star you sing about what you know, and as she is going through the pain of falling out of love and divorce I guess this is what she sang and wrote about.A new woman on the scene competing for her husbands attention and the pain of being separated over distance but being even more separate when in the same room.Yes it is good but overwhelmingly sad.KJ
  10. I don't know....ask me when I come back as your mother!heheSeriously the Bible says 'it is appointed for a man to live once....and then the judgement'.That's what I am living by....just in case it's true!If you get no second chance then you will do your best this time through.:)KJ
  11. I think it can take a bit of time to learn how to use the web version to its potential, not that I have done this yet. I agree labelling can be good but there are also a host of other apps associated with the email that I have heard others talk about. As far as productivity and work function I think it has some bonuses.I am not sure what it is about using the web interface that you find not to your liking. Perhaps you don't like any web interface for emails? I have found that using hotmail or gmail from work or remotely to be satisfactory. Now that I am a Blackberry user I don't use these as much but whilst at home I do for convenience. I think google is making an effort to provide additional software that is in the same 'package' as the email so in that sense it can be a bonus as well. Especially if you use something like Adwords or Adsense. But as a stand alone email interface I am quite happy with gmail web. Initally the labels thing and archiving slowed me down as I am used to folders. But I think one can get used to it if they usually use Outlook or Hotmail which use folders. In the end it is probably just personal preference and functionality. And for those users who have very little technical knowledge and are averse to doing simple online research (Gen Y...I don't know?) then the web interface is easy to use. Perhaps some people with more advanced technical knowledge don't like using things that have being 'dumbed down' too much.JMHOKJ
  12. Break up songs are just depressing. Why do we actually like to feel bad. Are your reasons for leaving bad?If I have made a break I certainly don't want to be reminded of the pain, I just want to go on and get on with things. There was however the summer of 69....I got my first real six-string.....I played it till my fingers bled....in the end Jimmy quit and Joey got married...I should have known....KJ
  13. How about being direct with her about what your plans are and what your goals are. If you are not clear about them get down on your hands and knees and get it sorted out. I am sure you will receive some Divine guidance about what you should be doing. If you communicate directly with others about exactly what you are doing and the reasons why then they will find it harder to drag you down when they don't have a plan. If you don't have work then redouble your efforts in getting work. make a plan as to hjow you will get your own place. Set some dates to make thinhs happen by. When you set a date you set things in motion and direct your efforts to making it happen. You gain some momentum and things will start to happen. If you pray then pray with faith expecting an anser and looking for the opportunities around you. When they come reach out and grab them, take a chance and just make it happen.Other people may not have a plan but that doesn't mean you have to let them drag you down. Don't feel guilty or manipulated. If they want you to leave they will tell you plainly.Remember you and your goals are important so you don't need to apologise for them. Plan the work and work the plan.KJ
  14. Buying something like a car you have to do your research. Do not try and rush it. It's a big purchase so take your time to discover what sort of cars you like.q. What will the primary purpose of the car be?Will it just be a run-around car to get you to work and back? Or a do-er-uperer that you can work on, buy parts for and give a respray in the back yard. Will it be a sleek machine to pick up girls (does this even work?)Q. What is your budget? You need to know how much you can borrow and exactly what that will mean to your lifestyle. You must cost in loan repayments, rego, fuel, repairs etc. Cars cost a lot to run.By the way for a second hand car the margin on the car is better for the seller than a new car. Often they can give a huge discount and still make money when people take finance through the car yard. So go to a bank etc to get your loan and know how much you can borrow before you walk onto a lot.Learn how to bargain and play the sales game and don't be afraid to walk away. To get a realistic price find the red book or 'market price' of the car. One way to do this is to ring up and get a quote for car insurance with the car year and model and they will tell you what the market price is.When you have this figure i.e. $5000 and the seller is asking for $10000, offer somewhere in the middle. Offer less if there are high km's/miles on the car. Go to ebay or other sites that sell cars and get an idea of how much your model is selling for. This market research will help you choose and spend wisely.Ask for extras such as insurance, rego etc. Buying from a car lot will give you some sort of warranty. Extend this if you can. Also before you buy the car take the car to a registered car inspection place and get them to do a road worthiness check for you. the car should come with one but usually the car yard will use their own mechanic who may let certain items slip past. This way you can them to fix anything your guys find before you make the purchase.Go for a test drive in a few cars if you can and maybe get someone to take a picture of you in the car so you see how you look in it. It is a personal thing to buy a car so do your homework and maybe take someone more experienced than yourself such as a father, uncle or a friend in sales or a mechanic.Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for.KJ
  15. I would be very careful about seeking those sort of answers from a forum like this. There may be people qualified to offer an opinion but it is such an important area that you would really want a good answer. I would take a whollistic approach to dealing with depression and not just rely on medication. Getting counselling/skills building, trying natural supplements, excercise and diet all are other strategies. You really need to understand what you are takling and resarch it yourself and find some answers. Don't just rely on Doctors who have such a limited view but go to other natural health practictioners such as naturopath who treat the whole person and look at some of the things above. Also you have have things such as nuts (cashews) and supplements such as brahmi, gingko biloba and fish oil (1000mg) to improve memory. Also you could look at how you record information and see if there is a way of recording jobs that will prompt you to be able to remember key points. Be well, be fit and be healthy. KJ
