What you think made me to create this thread ? . I have gone through those blogs and opinion before creating this thread. Only thing that satisfied me here is opaque's answer that Kontera working for Xisto and asta. So that's why i don't mind it here. :-)

 

Otherwise this thread is call for those who are only on kontera enabled on their sites. *run for ya lives*. It's hard to make money from it. And that's why i suggested infolinks and tribal fusion for those publishers. And regardless of how some flash ad looks with tribal fusion or infolinks, payment is very good. So better try it instead of wasting time on kontera. Kontera is NOT at all suitable for those with low traffic sites.

 

Besides their reason of not keeping Money Counter on publisher account is not satisfactory answer at all.

Hmm.. I thought kontera was somewhat useless, but not this much. If Xisto moves to some other advertiser, it will earn much more money... Anyway thats OpaQue's choice.

 

Anyway, I contacted infolinks about drupal integration and their support is very fast and friendly. But unfortunately they don't have any drupal module for kontera. And adviced me to put code into pages manually. What really amazes me with their support is, they replied to me in just 2 hours for my two support tickets. Kontera support people are taking 3 days to reply for our ticket. I will try to put the script manually...

they get all the money that you put their ads on your site if you don't get 100$ in 6 months. All thje money you earned before those 6 months starts to disappear.

Hey, no no.. All your earning are safe, if you want to know your complete earnings just submit a support ticket asking them your total earnings information.. just read our previous posts about this issue...

Hey, I just read some articles on some forums about kontera and other competitors. And almost all of them are hating kontera. They provided their statistics of their website with their earnings, and horrible results there... I think I also started hating kontera after reading those articles. One person told that his total impressions were around 50000 with 300+ clicks.. Can you guess how much he earned? $4 .... If that's true then, It will take long time to reach minimum payout. And I am not impressed with my earnings either... my last 6 months earnings(at Xisto) are just $0.62 (2600+ impressions with 49 clicks). Now its time to search for an alternative...

You computer has a network card which connects your external modem to computer. When you connect to the internet, your modem will get an ip from the ISP (or chances are you have a static ip address too, which doesn't change every time you restart your broadband modem). Flex is also a nice language for forms. Based loosely on XML and Flash you can basically write a flash based form (needs the flash plugin) with instant updates for notifications etc.... Plus it is pretty secure since it's code cant be viewed, all the user sees is a flash app (i think....)

Though I don't have any knowledge about flex, I had seen a login page of flex and User Interface and functionality is amazing. But the only problem is most users don't have or turned off flash, which will be a problem if we depend of flex. Yes, you're right, its not as universal as javascript because of that reason.

Using both javascript and PHP for validation is a good practice for performance and security. Javascript improves the performance while php deals with security. And using AJAX along with PHP is better option and is a common practice for all websites now.

My engineer had routed the entire traffic to single server as the HDD work was going on. Now that the Hard drive job is done, we will balance the traffic again. This should solve the problem.

Thats very nice to hear from you OpaQue, so HDD changing was the reason for this myCents problem. I think the problem is solved now as I can see READY[myCents] for all users who have been posting.

No,it also loads similar to kontera. The difference is it loads faster than kontera (this doesn't mean it loads with the site, ads are on demand in both cases be it kontera or infolinks or tribal fusion). So it will not make site slower in any case with any ad-network.

So, they may be load from a faster server then.

Also not all infolinks ads are flash ads. Higher paying ads are flash ads. For normal text link ads which are lower in amount are simply shows some picture or some link with text.

I think flash ads for text link are much more annoying than the text version. Because the moving objects will distract the user from our site, and we don't want that. And there also chance that most users turned off flash plugin, or doesn't install it at all.. some what problematic case. Is there any settting available to trunoff those flash ads? Actually these in-text ads are annoying, and flash in in-text is ultimate annoyance...

Yes, I think some problem is there with the server, some times forum is not responding at all, and some times giving me an internal server error... and myCents are not updating since 2 days..

Just curious, can't you add ads on templates without modules ? i mean there are many drupal blogs for which it is hard to have yahoo ads module or say doubleclick or cpxinteractive module. so without those modules ads can't be inserted ? i doubt that.anway, i have less experience with drupal sites so you know it better.

Putting banner ads in drupal is easy, but in-text ads are difficult because we have to put the script on every page, which is very very difficult to do it manually. If we have a module for that purpose, it will simply do that work. I think, I have to write my own module, if I want to insert that script. But now a days I am focusing on learning to bend drupal, experimenting with different contributed modules, writing content and SEOing my site. So no time to think about these ads now. May I'll do it later. Just inserted kontera ads for testing purpose.

Ads load faster in infoliks? Does that mean infolinks will completely download all the ads they linked to, while loading its script along with our homepage? If so, our website become slower. By the way what type of ads are those? I just hovered on a link at infolinks website to test, and it loaded a flash ad. Are infolinks ads are flash based?

Clicking and CPC model is also same for both.

What about past 6 months data? is it also same?

Well PHP and javascript are different. PHP works on the server side where as javascript works on client side web browser. PHP is responsible for all the database connection and user validation process. Javascript just works on client side and will help you to check validation of the data like whether the user filled in all the required fields, whether he entered data properly etc.. You can't do anything beyond that. So, you must design your login page using PHP. And it is best idea to use javascript to validate the fields at the client side. It will save bandwidth and quicken the process. Just remember that PHP is server side scripting language, and javascript is client side scripting language.

Just checked that infolinks... looks same as kontera. But no way to try or integrate it on my website, There is no drupal module available to integrate it into my drupal website. May be I'll give it a try later. By the way, are there any major difference between kontera and infolinks? or they both work same?

Kontera is a genuine company and have been paying us timely.

Well, if politics is a profession then we can implement this professional qualification rule, but unfortunately it is not. The main motive of politics is to serve and lead people. I agree that some people doesn't have minimum educational qualifications, and don't know what is happening in the world. But we should remember that leadership doesn't come from formal education. Education is only an advantage. We had seen many great politicians in the world who doesn't have school education, but served and lead people very well. Politics is for the people, and great leaders come only from people. These professional barriers should not stop them. If the person can't able to talk in front of people it doesn't mean that he can't serve people. May be he has some other capability. But, I must agree that politics in our country (India) is like business, and if we implement a rule that politicians should have some professional qualification, our so great politicians will simply buy and create fake certificates, that is just a simple matter for them. You may think that our electronic media will catch these type of people. But I have seen many cases where these politicians manage to change their Caste certificates as well, and media did nothing. Politics in our country is just a crap, and no one can clean it now. Don't worry, almost all of the youth like us are educated, so future generation leaders are educated. No need to implement a rule in the future... If you want to implement some rule, the first rule I want to put is that two people from same family should not be given highest posts like ministers, Chief Minister, Prime Minister etc in succession... This bad practice is now running in our country, and sometimes I doubt that is our country is really democratic?

I think they are not disclosing it cause they want to duck publisher and want to modify reports as per their will. If adsense, doubleclick, yahoo and many other ad networks show counter for even minute earning as 0.001. so why they think that publisher are not interested ? i think they are hiding info as they don't want us to know the earning so that we'll not opt for payout immediately after viewing 100$ in account. i mean kontera seems to have disturbing financial condition. to hide it and to prevent publishers from instant payout they did this perhaps. i don't see any logical defense from their side for this.

I hope, kontera is a reputed company and won't cheat us. But you are right, if they hide the data from users most people don't know that they reached the minimum payout and won't ask for that. And some others may feel that their earnings were lost and simply leave kontera thinking that kontera is useless. In both cases kontera will lose ultimately... Customers are key for success of any company, and once they lost trust in kontera, no one can save kontera...

Are you kidding me ? . I don't want to lose out whatever i have earned so far. Already they have masked the earning. I don't know the reason why huge company like this failed to create a counter for publisher earnings.

I am also wondering why kontera is not showing our earnings beyond past 6 months. They are telling in their Knowledge Base that most publishers are not interested in viewing their earnings beyond 6 months, so they are not providing the information. But I didn't see any logic in that. What about publishers like us? And whats the problem they have to show our entire earnings if they are storing that information?

Do we get entire earning till payout ?

Good News guys.. None of our kontera earnings were lost. They are calculating all our earnings that were not appearing at publisher account. I submitted a support ticket 3 days back asking them about my total earnings information. I just received a mail with my total revenue through 2009. The mail doesn't have full report about all our earnings. It is showing only our total earnings till date in a single line of text. Anyway this is a good news that all our earnings are secure...

That may be true... but don't you have to use Kontera on Xisto to earn the revenue that Xisto offers? Because, well, I mean, Xisto has obviously did something with Kontera, whether it was a signed contract or something, so... I want to try that once you guys said that you've received payment, but if that is the case, I was assuming that you would have to use Kontera on your site as well...

Well, if you want to earn revenue from kontera just by using it at Xisto, that will never happen. Since most of us sharing that revenue it will take ages to reach the minimum payout of kontera... You'll have a chance to receive the payout only if you use your kontera account on your website along with Xisto. Of course, your website should have some what good amount of traffic.

Well no need to worry about that if you want to renew your domain now. I haven't tested that Auto Renew feature. Auto Renew is enabled for my domain too. But I got mails that my domain is about to expire and told me to renew it. So, I just renewed my domain manually which will expire on Dec 25th. Now its period was extended to Dec 25th 2010. So if you want to renew that domain you can do it right now manually.Or if you don't want to renew that domain, just submit a support ticket to cancel your domain registration. They will cancel the Auto Renew of your domain.

I am not saying that XAMPP is complicated, but some what confusing when compared to WAMP. Once you install WAMP server, the only thing a newbie has to do is start WAMP Server. Unlike XAMPP there is no need to start individual service for Apache, MySQL etc. WAMP won't confuse new users, like XAMPP does with different options and modules in its Control Panel. WAMP configuration and user interface is very very easy. But, definitley XAMPP is very powerful than WAMP when compared to its options and features...

Xampp is also pretty good. Gives you FTP, email server, HTTP server and of course MYSQL and PhpMyAdmin.

Yes, XAMPP has many features like FTP server, mail server, PERL etc... a lot of features which confuses a beginner. That's why I recommend WAMP for beginners. Very easy and non confusing server. But I agree, XAMPP is very powerful and simple. I like it too..

Can I use both google ads and kontera ads on my site, I mean on same page of my site.... only if google approved my request?

Yes, you can use both google Adsense and kontera ads on a same page. They both work differently..

Hi guys! I have just registered with kontera and need little bit of your help. Can anyone of you just tell me what is Kontera client Id? Is it my kontera account username i.e. my email address through which I registered with kontera or anything else!

Please tell me how to get that as I need to put in my Kontera Client ID in my Xisto control panel to start earning!

No, kontera client id is not your account user name. It is publisher id. Just login to your kontera publisher account at https://publishers.kontera.com/ with your user name and password. Then click on ContentLink Setup tab. A script will be displayed in a text box in that page.

Just note down your publisher id (its just a number) in that text box and enter it at Xisto in Kontera Client ID field. Thats it.
