Most antivirus sucks, just a kind of friendly virus.I have leaded with a lot of them but with one of them that i will not mention i had a particular story.I have had it for around half a year, i started to have problems with my pc and the antivirus could not find any suspectous file. So i decided to remove the antivirus and install another one.Well, there is where the story begins, first i removed this antivirus as normal people do, just follow the instructions from the vendor.When i was finishing to remove the antivirus it asks me to restart the pc in order to complete the unisntall. I just let this stupid uninstall program restart the pc, but when it was starting windows again i hangs and could not use the pc anymore.So now i think that vest antivirus are freezers and backups. I dont trust in them anymore but when i tjhink that a file is suspectous i just go to virustotal.com and ask the web to analyse the file.Well, that story didnt end as bad as you think, god just know why i am linux fan and used it to recover files from NTFS Windows partition and copy them to a DVD before formating that partition and reinstalls windows again without ANY antivirus, i just maintain a FAT partition unfreezed and the rest of the partitions freezed, so i download music and videos and documentes to FAT and just that.So now you can follow me with the art of freezing or just keep your headache with antivirus.Regards, Seba

Yes, that is unvelieble. That bugs doesnt even exists in internet explorer since many years ago. Thats embarrasing. Here i let you read the two advisories released on bugtraq security list as you can read how that people informed about this two very important bugs: - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Well, i think that our google friends should start thinking about making chrome development more serious and stop joking with beta series. They are using mozilla engine(firefox code) and javascript virtual machine from a project hosted on google code, so i think that they can get wrong in stupid things as they are doing. Sure, the man is very dependent of technology. For the people that say no, just imagine you a day without television, PC, radio, telephone, and many other things.Just imagine you without this forum, without your music player. Walking to go job.Oh yes, mechanic is also technology, without technology the cars would be very expensive and only the richest people on the world will have one. Imagine that you could not fly to another country and if you can it would be very exepensive.All this things make me remember the song "Imagine" from John Lennon, it has a phrase that says: "You may say I'm a dreamer, But I'm not the only one ". That is what best describes us, we are always waiting for the technology that the world is releasing for us. We wait that japeneses invent another mobile phone with 50 megapixel camera and that we can talk with 100 people at the same time watching their faces.We want the technology to be smalle than a finger, everything we are expecting is being to be the more advanced society.We live for it and they are made for us. We are a kind of stupid animal that as my friend who started the topic says: "We are really very dependen of technology", if only shutdowns the internet for a day i think that half the world will commit suicided. Hahaha, i like all this ways to not get bored with a computer, i have applied almost all of them.I would like to tell you a story about my life:Seven years ago my take internet to my home, i was only 11 years old and i couldnt get the most of internet, i used it for downloading music and videos(now i buy them ). But i was feeling as the internet i was paying was so much for the uses i give to it. What is more my dad only used it to download mails and the computer was alone all the day.So some day i was with my mum in the science university of my local city when i heard somenone saying something as "dude, yesterday i hacked a server wich had a bug implementing unicode charset". That phrase changed my life.I get home and looked on altavista the words "hack", "bug", "unicode". I started to learn about hacking. After knowing what was about hack i started with lammer things(try to find mail passwords and exploiting servers who had unicode bug with the same exploit i found).Then i started programming and learning how to find vulnerabilities. I pass from not using the computer to use it around 6 hours a day. I read from the computer every book and tutorial i found about hacking and finding bugs techniques.The time pass and now my eye-doctor(dont know how is said in english) said that i will have to use glasses because my eyes where hurted for reading from the computer. Well, about three years ago i also learned about SQL injection and after that the boom of mysql and php. I couldnt believe that the internet was so insecure that i could hack databases of about the 3/4 parts of the sites i visited.Now i teach and prevent the people about how insecure is internet and how to prevent to being "hacked", from time to time i also try to break in servers or PC but not as much as i did in the past(now i am a serious person).Well, that is my story with computers and internet. Maybe i will never understand how the word "hack" change my life for ever. But i think that internet is a mysterous world for many people, they dont know how it works and how insecure it is and maybe if i had never gone to that university with my mum i would be one of them.Regards, Seba.

Hi, in my opinion this KDE(4.X) is some bad in many aspects. The first one i has noticed is performance, i have never used such a slow desktop manager as kwin4. It takes expensive minutes to change between windows. Then i cant believe that as my friend says everything is a widget. They are adding layers between kde and X11. This is making every process slow and they are creating bottlenecks in this layers.I feel that KDE doesnt have much to say. They are coming to an end. After the QT library was closed but "let" kde keep using it, it made very good developers feel dislike from this library and quit kde development. I am one of those that used to cooperate in programming and translating kde packages for Debian.Fortunately there is always GNOME with 2.20 version that is faster that the older releases.I must aclare that my computer is a Pentium III with 4mb of video dedicated RAM(i810) and 256mb of ram.With this requirements it is impossible to run kde4 so this guys should think about changing the word "preformance" from the release announcement. They are laying.Another thing i am thinking is that Kde 4 is just some new publicity for QT4 that is diying very slow. I give no more than 5 years before QT die with KDE or QT comes again to an open source license.I love philosophy of software, maybe sometime i will write about this more explained for normal people.Regards

Hi, i dont know why are you chosing between this two object oriented languages.In my opinion a game should be done in C or C++, i would not have in mind java because it is some slow for 3D graphics and it is executed on a jvirtual machines, so the server will be slow and will need a faster machine than a server done in C/C++.My other point is that C or C++ can be compiled in Linux, Mac or Windows if you are planning to use OpenGL Apii. This way your client will have compatibility in all these famous platforms.Also if you are making the server in C with Unix sockets, it will also be compatible with all the massive operating systems.Well, to finish my recomendation is that you do the game in C++ language as it is not very complicated. If you know how to program you will find it very easy but some tedious to write the graphics engine.I expect you got millions for the project and share it with us .Good luck, Seba.

Hi, it is always the same discussion. Now that Windows Vista is "stable"(as much i know) i think that there is no much diference between Mac and Windows. Both are good looking, both eat all your RAM and CPU time, and none of them will run in a PC older than 2 years.I always was impressed about the good look of Mac and the high stability with the included security. Well, as we know it is a Unix, one of the BSD, so we cant expect less from such operating system.Apple has developed an exclusive operating system for graphics designer and maybe gays .In the other side Microsoft developed an operating system for every home and sell it while they can. This operating system called Windows has been always unestable and has always been unsecure but very simple for people.Apple has moved Mac from powepc to intel and this is now helping to stop making mac so exclusive and is encouraging people to install it on their pcs.Now there is another one called Linux, that is getting inside of desktop pcs and is really pretty and it can be installed in old pcs, so i would recommend to also try it because it is very stable and has compatbility with windows driver, so it is as much supported as windows is.It also has a windows layer compatibility so you can run your windows programs under linux.Well, i has written pretty much, i like philosophy and computers so well, just that, a reflexion about this two operating systems.Regards, Seba

Hahaha, that is so much, anyway the sites made with that package are not so pretty.My recomendation is made a good page with html and add the javascript to redirect youtube videos.This idea is not good enough to make money, it is always the same, check for ads and add them to your page. But finally they dont pay you because they discover that your web is made just to earn money.The best way to earn money on internet is making a good online web based game with nice graphics. Mmmm, i think that the people using IE6 is at high risk now. It has many vulnerabilities and check failures.It doesnt protect from activeX neither posible javascript attacks. You should be thinking to move to IE7/8 . Anyway i use Firefox.This week has been released Firefox 3 for Debian (really Iceweasel 3). It is some dirty because it uses Gnome theme. But i cant believe how fast it is loading and refreshing webs.It is much more faster than Firefox 2, Opera and Internet Explorer. I think that this change was the needed to take firefox to the next level.I dont think that Microsoft can recover from this hit, they should set firefox as default browser.On the other hand this week has also been released 2 vulnerabilities in firefox 2.0.0.14. They were cuallified as buffer overflow with possible remote code execution. Hi strange nick.The main language for programming is C, it is one of the first languages and most used by day.It advantages are that it is fast and portable, that means that you can compile the same source in linux, macosX and windows.You will find a lot or resources about C, so just search on google.Other starters languages for desktop applications are the Microsoft suite.For example visual basic, it is very easy to use, but you really dont learn to program, just to make programs. This languages(.NET) are now supported by linux and macosx with the free implementation of Mono virtual machine.For programming languages i recommend you to learn javascript and php. There is a lot of information at w3schools.com . Php is very dynamic and highly supported by all the hosts, it also is very flexible, it supports many databases.About javascript, you should also learn about Ajax, it is now very used. Hi, good news for Ubuntu users.But please dont use Ubuntu as synonim for Linux, Ubuntu 8.04 is not Linux 8.04.aaIf you want to have Linux references please refer to Red Hat or Debian as serious distributions.You shouldnt download 8.04 right now, it is better to wait some weeks up to it become stable. Ubuntu doesnt take releases very seriously, they always release very buggy distributions, it is consecuence of they feelings for new software. I am using testing from Debian and i can bet that is more stable as server and desktop than a stable Ubuntu.If you have never tried Debian, i recommend you, it works with .deb packages and the Apt/Aptiude tool.Regards, Seba.PS: You dislike the things(Ubuntu) when you meet something better(Debian).

Well, i changed to linux about 5 years ago.The reason was that i was tired of Windows Antivirus, it makes my Pentium 3 really slow and the Windows XP works as a writing machine.I also like the different things so i downloaded an Ubuntu image and installed it, it was about 5 years ago and they werent distributing bootable images. After Ubuntu i installed Debian, with this OS i learned a lot, i make my own web/ftp server and did some hacks on the kernel and other software.Now i am using a Debian with Gnome desktop, using Firefox as web browser, OpenOffice, Eclipse as IDE, GNU C compiler and other open source software. Sometimes when i have time i also contribute developing this kind of soft.I think that GNU/Linux is more a philosophy than software.I recommend it everybody that is using Windows, dont scare!

I wont upgrade.The new firefox has a better render system that makes it a little more faster, but with the new features it is some slow.For example every time that i want to enter an address in the bar, it opens and starts to search for a similar one. There appears from the porn sites to the news one, so it is more a disturb than a feature. Also it makes the browsing slow for me as i have a Pentium 3 machine.For all the people that wants to test it, just let firefox 2 installed and install it and take your own conclusion, maybe if your pc is faster than mine you will not notice the slow process of some features.Regards, Seba.

You should try to clean it.In my case i have problem when i dont clean it for about half year. My cooler gots dirty and start to make noises, so i dissassemble it and make a deep clean.Then i clean the contact of the sockets in the PC and then i assemble everything. Hi, i dont have one, but a friend of mine yes.I dont recomend you that pc, it is really very small. It is better to buy a laptop or a palm instead of such a thing. I cant use it, the screen is small and i cant read from it.I think that the only pro of the eeepc is that you can take it with you and put it in your pocket.Also the hardware that it uses is really cheap and the performance is some bad, also the space of the "hard disk" is very small and you will need to add more in order to use it in a good way.Regards, Seba

In my experience i have used many antivirus, including Panda, Norton, Kaspersky and NOD32.The result was that all of them are effective in the way that you take care of your pc.For example, in my home, the pc is used by my parents and sister and they dont have knowledge about software security so sometimes they open or execute files that contains virus. If that virus are not in the antivirus database, they install easily and it is very difficult for the antivirus remove them when it is detected.So i think that the best antivirus is the person that uses the computer.Regards, Seba
