I just use Google, I pretty much always have seen as it was around when I first got into computers. I must admit I only started using it over MSN Search so early on in my experiences with computers and the internet because of the hype over it at the time.Kind of many (including me) are quick to recommend Firefox over any other browser.

A Blunder By Google Translation Its hilarious...
Chesso replied to CaptainRon's topic in Websites and Web Designing
"Ouch" that would have been a very akward moment I must say.Iv'e never really played around with all that online translation stuff but when I have had to for some of my programming projects for multiple language support I often found the results a little errr, well not quite on the money so to speak.I showed this thread to some friends of mine and they all enjoyed the good laugh it gave them, one of them said it came out the same though... she's not very computer literate though so I was kind of expecting her response -
I believe there is no reason why you should not look for a free or free alternative to what you require, in fact it's a smart idea business wise if you can find what you need.If majority of the target users are using a Windows based machine then yes it's much easier for you and probably much easier for them in the long run and short.I have a question though, what is the preffered way for the user to access the information? You could easily learn php and mysql and have it setup on the target machine and have it web based although that might not bewhat your'e looking for.Other then that I can only think of turning to programming to solve your problem which is far more difficult but is obviously gives alot more freedom. As far as the whole "less clicks as possible" thing go's that is entirely up to you, assuming you are the one writing the software.

Wow I never expected that, I can see what it really means though but it is very funny.I have to ask though, who on earth finds these things.... -
Does Anyone Know Of A Really Good Free Web Host?
Chesso replied to erinekath's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I agree it is very unrealistic to expect this and quite rude to post here, I do understand that you are aware of such services and I have used them before and they were genuine but just didn't last long and anyone here can probably guess as to why.And my question to you is, do you really need unlimited? I know it's nice to have more then you need but if you were looking for something a little more realistic maybe somebody can direct you to the right place, or perhaps you are already at the right place -
Resources For Beginner Delphi Programmer ? Delphi 7.0 Personal
Chesso replied to hast-webben's topic in Programming
Thumbs up to the user who recommended delphibasics.co.uk, it's a really great starting point for beginners and is a great reference for Delphi programmers of any experience level. Also for a great Delphi help forum you should take a look at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, the experts there are really helpfull and using the forums search capabilities you will find most simple and even some complex and out of the way answers to your questions. Hope you enjoy Delphi, it's always good to see someone else giving it a try. EDIT: Also about that application you desire to program, I would highly recommend using plain text files for storage first even if just for a basic program so you can get used to how it works and the general workings of programming in Delphi. delphibasics.co.uk mentioned above has a great basic tutorial on playing with text files which is what I learnt from myself. The delphipages forum I mentioned above should have lots of information on what you can use for database programming and how to use it. -
Half PC Does Not Support Windows Vista
Chesso replied to marretas's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Older systems will be capable of running Windows Vista without a problem, it's just recommended for all the nice extra junk you probably don't need that they throw in.The release date has been pushed back twice to my knowledge and they are supposedly working out what to do with the next Windows Operating System to come after Vista.....There are also alot of things that Windows Vista supposedly won't include in it's initial release package that were almost promised at an earlier stage like the new File System and misc other new features. -
For a general user I would swap your space for music with the space for games lol.4gb partition for an Operating System is fine, software applications with that much space is fine too.I usually have on partition or drive that has the Operating System and Program files. The other drive or partition has my games, music and the Windows swap file. I have recently created some new partitions for Kororra.

As far as database is concerned I would suggest SQLite for better general performance and less bloat. It has been awhile since I have checked up on what they have been up to so I can't really say what Operating Systems it supports but a quick google search on "SQLite" should hopefully give you all the information you need. And as stated above if you stick to Windows you will have alot less trouble on your hands and many options too boot.

It sounds nice in theory but put in practice, is it even necessary for a home user? It's always nice to have more then we need but the faster we can download and or upload the more bandwidth we'll need.I'm on an ADSL (because Telstra here in Australia are cheap and won't install the ncessary cable ines) 512/128kbps and I can smash the 10gb bandwidth limit (that includes down and up) in a few days without effort.Even after the 64kbps capping I can hit 50gb bandwidth usage in a month..... downloading lots of linux distributions and updating site content etc.Still it would be fun to play with wouldn't it?

Actually they might have made up that story just to be scabby.....Not saying it is true but I have seen it happen before with some people I knew that were involved in such situations, I am also new here too and hope you enjoy your time here.Really sorry to hear that happened to you aswell, I was happily hosted and a staff member of a simple webhost but the owner just ended up not having enough time to put into the free service has was providing so here I am
